  1. So many people forget their dreams in the first few minutes after waking up, but there are some tricks to keeping then if you would like to try it. It takes some practice, but it really works. Anyway, it did for me. First of all, at night just before you go to sleep, tell yourself that you want to remember your dream. Try to think about that as you are drifting off. Then, just as you start to wake up. Do not open your eyes or move too much. Start immediatly thinking about the dream you just (hopefully) had. Run it back through you mind, try hard not to let anything else creep in and break your concentration. Get up slowly, and gradually start your daily routine, but make sure you have completely thought threw your dream before getting all caught up inthe daily challenges of life. Now, there is a down side to this. When you start remembering your dreams, you will find yourself wondering all the stinking time, "why in the hell did I dream that???" You start dwelling on your dreams and find they interfer with thinking about the things you need to do and take care of. I tried this for several weeks, and honestly, it was about to drive me crazy. So I shut it off. Just reverse the process above. When you go to bed tell your self you will promptly forget your dreams upon waking. If you do dream, get up and get moving as soon as you wake up and force the dream out of your mind by thinking of all the other things you have to do today. It sounds pretty weird, but it really works out that way. At least it is a good mental exercise to see if you can gain a bit of control your your brain.
  2. I'm not sure if you mean dreams as in hopes and aspirations, or dreams like you have when you sleep at night. As for night time dreams, when I was a young child I had this reoccuring nightmare about the world being on fire. I would be standing on the back porch and see the orange and red glow in the horizon and see the flames burning at the far edge of the back field. I used to hate to go to sleep for fear of having that stupid dream. I was always afraid if I even heard the word fire at night I would have that dumb dream. Oddly, that is the only reoccuring dream I ever had. And it has been many years since I had it.
  3. Recently, I have started rinsing out my mouth the very first thing in the am, but I rinse and spit it out, don't want to swallow all that bacteria that has been growing all night long. Then I try a couple swallows, but there is NO WAY I can take more than a swallow or 2 before I absolutly without a doubt have to pee. There is no way on Gods green earth I could drink that much water first thing in the morning.
  4. The other day, in Springfield Mo, a car was stolen from in front of the owners home. He had just gotten home and left the car running, but his 3 year old boy was still in the car, when he came back out of his home he saw the car going down the road. The car was found eventually, in another town some distance away. But apparently the thief saw the boy before leaving town and the creep just set him out on the road and took off. The temp was 27 degrees and the poor little kid apparently had his shoes off, as the news said his feet were wet. The little 3 year old had the good sense to just go up to doors and start knocking. It was 1 am by now, and apparently he had some trouble raising anyone. They were interviewing the man that did finally wake up, he said he heard his doorbell ring. When he got to the door and saw the little boy, he asked him if he had rang the bell, and the little boy had NOT rung it, he was just knocking on doors. They called 911 immediatly, and withing 2 minutes the cops were there, and 3 minutes the dad came for his son. They had quite the happy reunion as you can imagine. It is a wonderful small mirical for sure. The outcome could of been a serious tragedy. As yet the thief has not been apprehended. He better hope he is never caught, I'm betting there is a dad that would probably stomp him into a greasy spot on the road if he had the chance.
  5. I used to think having a woman persident would be great, but now I'm not so sure. And I am sure that the female running now is NOT what I want for a president. I think woman suffer more from ego tripping than guys do. Put a woman in a position of any kind of power, and then can turn into real bi--ches. Maybe it's from eons of being powerless and finally getting their chances and just going overboard, I don't know. Then there is the PMS thing. I have visions of a female president nuking some other country on a bad PMS day.
  6. I certainly have to agree with you, the first few days here were pretty confusing. There is so much to read and rules to figure out and all the forum enhancmnents that you have to figure out how to use. It is pretty daunting at first. I would even try to make a post and then forget where I'd made it as there are so many options. I spent a lot of hours diging threw old posts and the posts about all the rules, till I thought I was going to go cross eye. But, in the end, it is all very well worth it. My web site is up, and has stayed up, no down time at all, no crashes, and best thing yet, no monthly bill to pay!!!
  7. I noticed that too last week when I did a bunch of updates on my site, and was worried about going over my bandwidth, but it showed 0 use. I know it did work when I first got my account here. I sure don't want to get carried away with updates and then get it to where nobody can visit my site. That would suck. Big time.
  8. I like that old time Rock and Roll, that kind of music just sooths my soul.I reminice about the days of oldwith that old time Rock and Roll!I hear a little of the "new" stuff on TV, and here and there, and it just doesn't do anything for me. Don't like it. Not any of it. I just find an oldies station and ignore everything else. I do have a bunch of great songs I dowlnoaded off of Napster before they got busted, So I listen to those cd's in the car or when I'm working at the kennel.
  9. I would lke to ad just one thing. Collar and tags are fine for when your dog gets away from home in your local area, they can mean a quick return from someone a few blocks away. But in order for your pet to be truely safe, it should be micro chipped. Collars can get caught in fences and bushes, etc, and hang your dog. And they can be removed by thieves. Did you know, that if your dog is stolen, and you later find it in someone else's yard, you can't get your dog back if they say it is there dog unless it has some identifying mark that you can use to prove ownership? So many of the breeds look exactly alike that you can't prove it is your dog without it. You have to have a way to prove owership, and a micro chip that is recorded with the manufactor is an excellent way to do that. The companys that manufactor the chips generally provide free of charge, scanners to read the chips to all humane societies and dog pounds. So if your dog ends up there, the chip will be read and you can get your buddy back. The chip is small, and is inserted with a needle just like giving your dog a shot. It is coated and does not irratate the dog, and lasts for the dogs lifetime. Always remember, if you move, be sure to update the company that you have your dog listed with.
  10. Thanks guys for taking the time to check out the site and respond. I do appreciate it.
  11. Well, what you describe sounds like a really great way to have an in home business, and it sounds like you are off to a good start anyway. Maybe it's not a big money maker right now, but since you are operating out of your home, hopefully your expenses aren't real great, like if you had rented another building to operate in. Then there is the peace of mind and the satisfaction you get from doing a job you enjoy. And if you make a good burger........they will come! Believe me, I hate Mickey D's tasteless cardboard burgers. If I ever get up your way, I'll certainly stop and grab a burger. I'm curious about your exotic pets site, what is it about?
  12. I got what I thought was a hysterically funny picture in an email a few days ago, so tonight I put it up on my web site, only problem is, since I have a rather warped sense of humor, I'm not sure if the average person would find it funny or downright disgusting. It did seem like a great advertising ploy at the time, what with all the problems with imported Chinese toys........Click on my signature link below, then scroll down towards the bottom of the main page. It's the last picture on the page. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
  13. That is one of my worst fears, getting a chunk of wood stuck 1/2 way in the stove. I've come pretty close any nuber of times, but always managed to push/pull/pry it on in or out. My other greatest fear is having the piece of wood land on my finger as it goes in the door, and mash/break/burn my finger. That I have had happen. Many bad words were use. I am greatful we have a good hardwood supply here, I would think that pine or fir would burn really fast. We have a lot of oak, several varieties, we cut up a big red oak last week that was huge, but short trunked and would not of made a good saw log, but it sure makes good firewood. Well, things are not looking so good here, constant drizzling rain, and the betther half is thinking about going to town to the local Oreileys to pick up parts for the generator just in case. Whenthe temps drop it could get really ugly. I hope and pray we do not loose electic power. Not having water is a huge problem with all the animals to take care of here.
  14. Wow, what a terrible thing to be stranded in Hollywood! That had to be really a scary thing with all the weirdo's there!I'd take the bear anyday.I've always wondered, how does bear meat taste? (and please don't say like chicken) Welcome back.
  15. This one had a single edge splitter so only halved the wood, not quarted it. Quartering would probably be great if all your wood needed quartered, but often they only need halved, or in the case of the what we work with those odd shaped chunks and forks that have to be split up in odd ways to get around the knots and burls. I guess you'd just have to work with one to see how it went doing only 4ths. Yes, it is hydraulic. As far as noise, yes, it is fairly noisy, but then again, so is the chain saw, so it's not too bad. This one has a fairly good muffler on it. Kinda reminds me of those real old John Deer tractors that make that putt putt putt nosie. We have an ATV too, and boy is that ever a life saver for an old fat lady!!!! Funny, I thought my better half was nuts for wanting to spend that much money on one, (it was more expensive than our car) but since we have it I find it to be one of the most useful tools imaginable. I use it ALL the time. My kennel is designed with large outdoor areas for the dogs, so it is spread out over quite a bit of ground. I can put a crate on the back of the ATV (ours is an Artic Cat) and easily move dogs around wherever I need to. If I'm just moving one I can hold it on my lap and let it ride with me. Surprisingly enough, most of the dogs don't mind riding it. And....a side benefit for owning an ATV I never realized, I find now that I can drive our car in a more civilized manner on the highways if I can let the Evil Kineevil side of me come out while I am goofing off on the 4 wheeler! (yes, I have some of those "Little Old Lady From Passadena" quirks in me.)
  16. Welcome to Xisto Red eyes. Always good to see other pet owners here. What kind of dog/puppy do you have? I have allways wondered about the cats killing instinct. No matter how well fed they are, many will still hunt and kill small rodents. Since my main reason for having a cat is for rodent control I'm glad they do, but it is a curious thing. My new cat is still here and seems to be pretty content. I did have a monent of concern for his welfare yesterday when he followed me out into the goats part of the barn though. The Komondors are kinda "iffy" about cats. If a goat had of stepped on him and he swatted it and made it bleat, it probably would of been all over for him.
  17. I am going to have to agree with you. It was a mean and stupid thing to do, but bullies have been plagueing timid souls since the beginning of time. The internet just gives bullies an even easier way to harrass people. However, I can't feel too sorry for anyone who is so emotionally unstable as to let something like this drive them to commit suicide. Like it or not the real world is full of bad things that happen to us, no matter what we do or try to do or how we try to stay on the good side of everyone. We need to realize that doo doo happens, and get on with our lives. Human nature is what it is, and all the preachers and teachers and do gooders aren't likely to change it. Some folks are just nasty, and should I say......evil!
  18. Power tools and equipment, not a place I thought I was going to be using but have to tell you about the joys of having a wood splitter.I had never had even the oppertunity to see one work until this past week when we borrowed one from a friend of ours. It's built on an axle, so it can be pulled behind even our little car. It has a 5 horse power Briggs and Stratton engine, which really, isn't much bigger than a lawn mower engine, so I was pretty surprized at how powerful it was. We put some really good size wood on it and it would just bust right through it. I got a crash course on how to operate it, and then I ran it while my better half ran the chain saw, and boy did we get a trailer full of wood in a hurry. While it is still back breaking work, you have to lift the logs on it to split them, it sure beats the devil out of wacking logs with a double bitted chipping axe! Or even a splitting mall. So, if you are considering getting, one, go for it, they are GREAT!
  19. Now that's a good looking cat! And for me that's saying a lot, cause I'm not really a cat person.I got a new cat last week myself. He's a big orange cat, a tom, and much to my surprize, so far he's staying around. I was afraid that because he was the only cat on the place, he may take off, but so far so good. This isn't exactly the safest place in the world for a cat to live. Mouse hunting is very good, but well, with all the dogs.........Oddly enough though, even with all the dogs here, the last cat I had got killed when the cow kicked the milk stand over on it.
  20. Well, I hadn't really noticed the of instead of have, but the thing that drives me crazy that I am hearing all the time now is "Oh look at these ones" or "I want one of these ones" or something to that effect. For a long time i just heard kids saying it, but lately, even adults are spouting it, sounds terrible.
  21. Very sorry to hear about your dad. Wish him a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted on how he is doing.
  22. Well, I don't have a marinade injector, however, in all honesty, I did consider using a microchip needle and some melted cheese in a big syringe. (yes, dog breeders are prone to coming up with really goofy ideas) Only problem with that is you need to remove the seeds and core from the inside of the peppers. The cores are pithy and the seeds and core is the hottest part. Actually, I didn't know there even was cheese made that didn't melt. We have a discount grocery place not far from us, they get all kinds of strange things in there, but it's always cheap and some of the stuff is really good. This was just shredded cheese in 5lb bags for like $6 or $7, I forget now. I didn't know it wouldn't melt until I bought some and used it. I later asked the store owner about it and he said it was made specifically for certain applications, like salad bars so it wouldn't run together under hot lights, or for chili, etc where it was used for toppings. At any rate, it tastes pretty good, not like some of the imitation cheese goop that you sometimes find when bargain hunting. They are a lot of work, that's for sure. Worth it? Well, maybe not if I was as wealthy as Bill Gates, but since I am not, and when peppers are easy to grow and I can make them so cheaply, well, yes, I guess it is worth while. The day I first fixed them I also fried the first of the chickens that I raised this summer. Raised them from eggs mind you. Now that's work! A lot more than picking up a plastic bag full of cleaned and ready to fry in the meat department of the grocery store, or if you are stone cold lazy, C. Sanders!
  23. My better half just loves those cheese filled batter dipped deep fried jalapeneo peppers. They are rather expensive, so we don't get them very often. I didn't have a clue as to how to make them. But when frost came and I had to go harvest all our peppers, I got to doing some reasearch on how to make chili reno's, and read that in order to get batter to stick to those, the skins of the peppers have to be burnt off. So I figured, what the heck, lets try it with the jalapeneo peppers. I did that and got them peeled just fine. The hard part is stuffing them. I just wanted to cut a small opening, so the filling wouldn't boil out, and getting the core and seeds out was a bit tricky. Of course, trying to do it wearing rubber gloves really makes it a pain. (though not wearing gloves would make it a bigger pain, your hands will burn for hours) I had some shredded cheese that was made to not melt, I'd been wondering what to do with it cause I normally want my cheese melted on everything, so I mixed it with some cream cheese to make it ball up, and then stuffed the peppers, rolled them in a beaten egg then shook them up in a container of flour with just a bit of salt. Deep fried for about 2 minutes, mabe a little over, and boy, let me tell you, they were GOOD!!!!
  24. I love scrambled eggs. Of course, salt and pepper are the 2 main spices, just plain eggs would be pretty tasteless. Onions are great, hot peppers, olives, cheese, ham, mushrooms, bacon bits, pretty much anything you can find to throw in them. The Curry sounds interesting, I use it on hash browns, hadn't thought about eggs. Have to try that sometime.
  25. If you were driving down the road at 90 miles an hour and a cop gave you a ticket, I suppose you would hate him too? You were breaking the rules. No fighting. Get it? It's not in the least bit unfair. You must be responsible for your own actions, and not blame others for your deeds.
