  1. Whoa there, wait just a minute! Do you actually know what the principles of PETA are?????For one, they want to end ALL ANIMAL USE!!!!! PERIOD. Humans should have NO association with animals in any way shape fashion or form. This not only includes eating meat and wearing leather, it goes WAY beyond that. PETA does not believe in domestic animals of any kind. They do not even want you to have a pet. I suppose I should mention, I'm a PETA member. The OTHER PETA. People for Eating Tasty Animals, lololol There's a place on earth for all Gods creatures, on my plate next to the taters and gravy! So, by now no one should be confused as to my standing on vegetarianism. I am most definatly a meat eater. I don't feel bad about animals dying so I can eat meat. Why should I? Does the lion grieve for the antelope it eats? I think not. I do have to agree with Grinning Kittie. If a person wants to eat vegtables that should be their decision, and if someone wants to eat meat, that choise should also be up to them. I hate anyone who tries to force their beliefs on another person. Food is an absolute nessesity of life. No one should be told what they can/cannot eat.
  2. Well thanks guys, it's good to know that it is hotmail and not just me being a dummy. I have used hotmail for years and years, it was my very first email account. I really do like it, or did anyway. I didn't like the looks of the Window's live mail, because it does look like the outlook express, which I have always hated. I was always afraid of getting viruses with it because you can't delete a message without opening it, or at any rate, I never could figure out how to. Well, maybe they will take a hint if enough of us gripe at them and they will fix the problem the next time around. Or maybe sooner, since they don't change it often, which I suppose is a good thing, I always seem to be half asleep when I try to read emails and when they make changes I hate it when I have to pay attention to what I'm doing. I knew where everything was in the old hotmail and could manage it when I was 1/2 asleep.
  3. He didn't kill it just as a gesture, he got it at a butcher shop, it was allready dead and killed so us carnavores could eat it. And besides, I'm betting you've never been cow kicked, butted, stomped or gored by a friendly, innocent little bovine. Trust me, there's nothing innocent about a cow. Mean, spiteful creatures. Their only redeming quality is that they taste good and give milk.
  4. Dog crates can be really handy sometimes....lolol Ok, lets not get overboard here, he was only in the crate for 90 minutes. I hate to say it, but there are some awful dam mean kids out there. It sounds to me like the poor grandmother is the victum here, not the brat. She got the kid dumped on her and nobody else would take him. (and I can see why, would you want the little terrorist poisoning you?)
  5. Well, I hate to use that old saying but, here goes...."When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." I only hope that we can retain the right to keep and bear arms. More laws are not the answer. When has passing a law ever helped? We have laws against murder, theft, rape, spitting on the sidewalk, crossing the street if you are not in a cross walk, selling drugs, taking drugs, driving too fast, beating somebody up, yet all of these things go on and on and on.
  6. Ok, this is exactly what I was talking about. Have you ever worked on or owned a dairy farm????? How many head per day have you milked? Or did you just read this hogwash on some AR site that wants to "free" all the cows? Release them from their slavery to humans.......yadda yadda. Cows ARE made to produce the quantity of milk they produce. They are made that way through selective breeding. The cows that stay the healthiest and produce the most milk are bred and go on to produce cows that give more and more milk. Dairy farmers are extremely efficient at keeping records of their best cows. With the invent of artificial insemination, they have options to breed their cows to the best producing bulls anywhere in the world. The milk produced in these dairys is regularly tested for contamination. Milk contaminated is condemed, and will not be purchased. It is tested for bacteria and antibiotic residue. Milk is probably the most regulated agricultural product on the market. You can bet it is tested by far more often that the vegtables somebody is peddling as organic at your local farmers market, they could compost their own toilet wastes and use those to grow your vegtables and none would be the wiser.
  7. Hummmm....that's interesting. Since we no loner have satalite TV, the 2 channels we miss the most are Fox News and the Sci Fi channel. I have seen a lot of stuff on Fox that the main stream media would not of touched with a 10 ft pole. They bring a lot of things up that otherwise we would never hear. I think of all the major media news, Fox is probably the best. In general though, the media annoys me terribly. They all have a way of slanting/twisting the truth and I am sure there are a lot of things going on in the world that we would like to hear about but never will.
  8. Ok, please help. I have no idea what this all means. I'm about to panic. 9. I could not agree with you more. I am just flabergasted by the sheer stupidity of humanity at times. Watch the evening news sometime if you don't believe it. Thieves committing armed robbery right in front of servaliance camaras, people flying into murderous rages over someone cutting them off in traffic, then there's cyberbulling, what on earth is that about? How can you justify harrassing someone for no particular reason? What is the point? What does the bully get out of it? If it is a feeling of superiority, how can you feel superior to someone when the bulling your doing professes them to be a loser or what ever. It isn't hard to be superior to a nobody, so what's the point? My biggest grip about stupid people though are the animal rights people. The vast majority of them have absolutly NO CLUE about anything pretaining to animals. They blubber on about how animals are killed inhumanly at slaughter houses, when in fact they have never set foot in a slaughter house. I have even heard of several people going on how cruel dairy cows are treated, these people were dumb enough to think that the cows spent their whole lives hooked up to a milking machine. It's a crying shame they can spout off that garbage yet never even realize what a cow dairy is all about. I read a web site on line once where some goof ball was describing how pups are transported to pet stores, she claimed that "some liquid" was forced down their throats to render them unconcious so they wouldn't bark, and then they were ricked up like cord wood in the back of a semi tractor trailer and shipped for days like that. What amazes me is that people are stupid enough to believe that kind of crap. Nothing could be farther from the truth, but they make up all this junk to futher their causes and stir up other ignorant peoples emotions. I can't believe how much totally unrealistic stories the animal rights people absolutly make up out of thin air. If people had the tiniest amount of common sense they would realize it couldn't possibly be true, but yet they fall for it hook line and sinker and those donations to PETA keep rolling in.
  10. We have been iced down a couple times now, almost blown away by tornado's, but virtually no snow so far. One little light dusting that melted almost immediatly. Which of course is fine by me.
  11. I think the death penalty should be reserved for mass murderers, serial killers, and child molestors. And anybody who tries to break in my home and steal from me or threaten me. Hate to say it, but a rape case is pretty easy for a spiteful woman to fake. However, I would be in favor of casteration of repeat offenders. I am in no way opposed to the death penality. I really see no point in allowing any human with a bad disposition the chance to reproduce those bad genitic traits, and euthanizing them is the proper thing to do.
  12. Very nice story, well written and I enjoyed reading it. I dated an Native American (by the way, is it no longer politically correct to say Indian?) years ago, and thats when I learned the major significance of the owl to their mind set. We were out in the yard late one evening and an owl landed nearby for a minute before he went on his way. This well over 200lb huge hulk of a man was reduced to a trembling frightened child in a matter of seconds. He totally freaked out. It was a bit of a shock to me to see him like that. I'm sure some people will be skeptical about your experience, but it is completely believable that it could of been a message or sign. While Ghost Whisper" is a popular TV show, I know an elderly woman who actually has been visited by the departed on several occasions. I have no reason to doubt her at all.
  13. Actually, there are people that are able to "smell" snakes. While most of us don't recognise the oder, some people pick up on it immediatly if a snake is anywhere in the area. I suspect it is one of those left over instincts from when we lived in caves and there were no emergency rooms just down the street. There is a good possibility you are one of those people and just didn't know it.
  14. Well......................just to be different for the fun of it.....Say a woman had a husband that was lazy, obnoxious, mean, spiteful and just a pain in the *bottom* and treated her like crap threw their entire marriage. When the old goat finally kicks the bucket, she could turn him into somthing pretty and nice to flaunt around, saying she finally found a use for him.
  15. I can't imagine how anyone could look up into the sky at night with all those millions of points of light and be so conceited as to believe we are the only life in the universe. As to government coverup, I wish they would get over it and just let out whatever they are hiding, if they are hiding anything. Most all of us have grown up devoted to TV shows like Star Trek, I don't think there would be this Mass Panic the government is reported to be protecting us from.
  16. Oh boy, I wouldn't want that! Just a week of the eye twitch was enough to drive me crazy. It finally did stop, but I was beginning to wonder. Going to the doctor for something that minor is just not for me. Actually, I won't go to a doctor unless I am sure death is eminent if I don't. I average a doctor visit maybe once every 5-10 years. That of course does not include visits to the Chriopractor, or my vet.
  17. Oh, you will do FINE!!!It sounds like a great and wonderful adventure to me, (remember, I seldom ever get out of my county, let alone COUNTRY!) With all the new things to see just make sure you spend lots of time site seeing. And with over 100 relatives there, it should be pretty easy to avoid the ones you don't like and in the meantime get aquainted with those you don't know yet. Have fun!
  18. Sounds really rough, I hope you are better soon. There is never a good time to be sick. I have all these dogs/goats/etc to care for so being sick is just not allowed here.
  19. Don't think I'd do caffeine on a Chihuahau, they are pretty shakey anyway. I don't know of any studies on the effects of caffeine on dogs. Age often brings on severity in minor problems that would not bother a young dog. Have you ever determined why exactly she has had breathing problems in the past? Some dogs, Shih Tzu's in particular, often suffer from pinched naries, which is easily corrected by a quick snip to the base of the nose to make the nasal passage larger. One thing you may want to do is make sure she is current on her kennel cough vaccintation. It will help keep her immune system stay in tip top shape to help fight off respitory infections. If it is congestion just in the nasal passages, what I have done is to put a tiny drop of nasal spray on a Q tip and swab just inside the nose. You don't want to actually put drops in the nose on a tiny dog. A dab of Vix on the nose can help some too, but do not do it frequently. You might need to have the vet check and make sure she does not have a growth in her nasal passages.
  20. For the past several days I've had this annoying twitch in my right eye. It only last a couple seconds, doesn't hurt, just feels weird and for those few seconds the vision in that eye is blurred. Day before yesterday it felt like I had a hair stuck on my eyelashes, I pulled on them so much it almost made them sore, and then of course, I was working at the kennel, and there is just no way to get away from flying dog hair, I'd wash my hands before messing with my eyes, but when I'd dry them off I'd still have hair on them. Like to never got that hair off. Finally had to pick at it with wet hands. Any ideas on what causes that?
  21. Mowing here is based completely on rainfall recieved. If it does't rain, we may go 3 weeks or longer without mowing. In the spring when growth is very rapid, it has to be done in less than a week. Be sure to check on your local laws, some towns can fine you if your grass gets too long, they have ordinances that sate a specific length the grass is allowed to reach. Since I have a kennel, I am also told by the government how often I should mow. That can be a real nusance if the grass is growing faster than we can keep up with it, like it always does in the spring. With you being in Florida, where the plants are growing all season, I'm not sure what to tell you about trimming bushes. Most should only be trimmed when they are dormant in our area. This is the month I will be prunning all my fruit trees. Some plants/shrubs can be killed if not cut at the right time. You might have to do a search on the individual bushes you have in your yard to see the proper times for trimming/pruning.
  22. I am definatly a math hater. Just the other day I was trying to balance my check book. I added the same numbers 5 times and came up with 4 different answers. AND I WAS USING A CALCULATOR!!!!! It's like that every time I try to do math. I guess the skill is just beyond me, I have tried and tried and I always end up having to go to the bank and let them do it for me. You would think at my age I would have that figured out but I just don't get it.
  23. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil, for I am the meanest *BLEEP* in the valley.Ok, ok, I'm a little creeped out by spiders. And maybe public speaking. I'd actually like to run for President, but standing in front of all those people makeing speachs would be a real gut twister. But seriously, there are some weird phobia's here.
  24. There is a really neat little short TV program on PBS called Star watcher, or something like that, he gives information about when many things are going to occur, like eclipses and comets passing, that sort of thing. He was recently taling about shooting stars. I believe PBS (Public television) has a web site, maybe you could find more info on his show there, it's pbs.org or something like that.
  25. Oh I am definatly voting NO if we would loose credits! Though I do admit since we are discouraged from responding to really old posts, it is sometimes hard to keep track of the really old ones, and they get brought back up a lot. It does take some time to get the hang of this board, but believe me, it's definatly worth it. I was really confused at first too, but everybody here is so helpfull, you'll have it figured out in no time.
