  1. Which Forums are you trying to install? Usually there are installation instructions included in the documentation of the forums. Most forums you just upload to your website, then run the install script and enter all your information for database name, username, password, and host; then you should be set. If you have the name of the type of forums I could help you further.
  2. I've been looking for free alternatives, but I have yet to find any good ones. I guess no freeware could compare to Flash 8 Professional (that's what I have) or whatever the newest version is now. Why does adobe stuff have to be sooo expensive
  3. I have nothing against George Bush. Many people hate him for stupid reasons. A lot of people blame Bush for problems he has no control over. I kinda like Bush actually. Honestly, I wouldn't have voted for him in 2000. I liked Gore better. But I didn't vote. I'm glad I didn't though. When America was attacked on September 11th I was glad we had Bush as president and not Gore. I wouldn't feel as safe with Gore. In 2004 however, I would've definitely voted for Bush. I think under the circumstances, he handled the situation very well. He was in his first year of presidency when he was faced with one of the greatest tragedies this country has seen. Maybe some of the things he did weren't the best. But he did a lot better job than a lot of other people would've done. He did better than Gore would've done had he been elected.A lot of people are fairly ignorant to what happens in the world. Despite their ignorance, they still talk like they know. I have talked with people who were so against the war and so against Bush. I ask them why and they don't even really know. They might say because "what he is doing with our troops is wrong" or "so many of our troops are dying". Then I explain to them the difference between this and any other war. Yes, Americans dying is not good. But, compared to any other war or conflict we've been involved in, the number dead is minimal. Another thing is people don't think we're doing any good over there. We are. When you see the smiles on the faces of the children over there, or you see how happy they are that the americans are here to save them, then you'll know what I mean.
  4. It is easy to learn enough HTML to be able to make web pages and even small website. You could learn enough to make something in just one day. However, if you want to be a professional or anything close to professional, you should know a lot more. You should know about all kinds of little quirks and standards. A lot of things you only learn by experience. If your goal is to make professional websites, HTML is not enough. You should learn HTML first. But learning HTML is only the first step to many more things. It will lead you to other things like CSS, Javascript, Flash, and Server-side scripts like PHP, ASP, Perl, etc. Learning everything about ALL of these topics is nearly impossible. Usually people focus on one or two programming languages specifically and learn as much as possible about them. Knowing EVERYTHING about a programming language (every function, every rule, every...thing) is pretty much impossible or at least very rare and very difficult. I focus on PHP because it is easy to find hosts with PHP. It is open source and very popular. Sorry if I'm a little off topic with the whole programming thing and everything. My point is, it doesn't take long to learn enough HTML to make a web page. It does take a long time to learn enough about HTML and whatever else you need (CSS, Scripting, etc) to make a very nice webpage.
  5. Darn, I thought this topic was about personal computer systems not consoles. Well my first console was the first atari. Fun stuff. Just for fun... my first computer system ran windows 3.1 with like 32kb of ram I think.
  6. I guess I like military games the most. When I say military games, I don't mean shooter games like Counter Strike. I mean more realistic games like americas army or even socom isn't too bad. I also like racing games. Again, they have to be fairly realistic. I like the Gran Turismo series of games. The real driving simulator. You can't get much more realistic than those games.
  7. I haven't seen or heard anything about it. Just by the title alone, I would guess that it was a World War II game. Possibly 101st Airborne? I didn't read any of the reply posts. Tell me if I'm right about it. lol.
  8. Does anybody know of a website or application that allows you to place FREE long distance calls from your computer to an actual phone? I remember there used to be a company called dialpad that allowed you to do this. I don't know if they are still around though. I think they started charging for the service. All the companies I've found require you to pay. There's gotta be a free one somewhere. Anybody know of one?
  9. Thanks a lot! I'm not too familiar with htaccess codes and stuff. I did what you said and it works fine now! Thanks very much. Cpanel is letting me down though
  10. Just to add a little note. Some of you are as anal as me I'm sure. I hate it when people pronounce it "SEQUEL". LOL. It should be pronounced S-Q-L (Ess Cue Ell).
  11. I set up the custom error pages using CPanel, but they aren't working properly. I get the standard error code. The requested URL was not found on this server.Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Plust that little bit on the end. Am I doing something wrong or is it something that needs to be handled by an admin?
  12. I don't really understand what the error was. I'm not even sure if it affects me. That's not good. Can anybody help me understand? I feel kinda dumb
  13. Well I'm currently trying to work with a company. The minimum payment is $30. I'm almost there. Once I get past that, I think I'll just make as much as I can (closer to $50) before I request a payment because I probably won't do it any longer. It's just too time consuming. They have lots of different things to do to make money. Surveys, reading emails, signing up for offers (some free some not), playing games, etc. It's pretty easy. Signing up for partner's offers make you the most money, but there aren't that many free offers. I made about $20 the first few days from doing all the free offers. They send you emails almost every day. Each email you read gives you $0.03. It's kinda slow if that's all you do is read emails. Try to take surveys and sign up for the offers. Also they pay you $0.02 for searching the web. You just use their partner's search engine and get paid $0.02 per search. You are limited to 2 searches per day though. But that is easy money. If you are patient you can make lots of easy money from this. Although I haven't been paid yet, judging by their system and the way their site is set up, they look fairly trustworthy. I expect I will receive a check from them for my "work".
  14. My path has been the same as yours. I started with Google. I got kicked from there. Although I didn't even violate the terms of service. They wrongfully banned me. Somebody apparently just clicked my ads too many times in too short of a period. I'm really pissed about that. But I have been searching for years pretty much for a good PPC program. There really is nothing that compares with Google. That really ticks me off because I got kicked for something I had no control over. But I am currently with bidvertiser and they are nice enough. I haven't made much money yet though. I haven't had much traffic so that doesn't help either. But I should be due for a payment to my paypal sometime soon. You can check my site out in my sig if you want to increase my traffic! For me, bidvertiser is the best I can do for right now. I'd like to join one of the bigger ad networks like yahoo or clicksor or something. But I need a higher traffic site for that. Any ideas?
  15. thanks guys! I think maybe I will give a 5px margin on top and bottom of the main div now! The colors are the way they are because they are "army" colors - black and gold. Goarmy.com uses the same gold color I think. #ffcc00. Thanks for the input guys!
  16. It really depends on your situation. Sometimes folders work better. Sometimes sub-domains work better. If you mean for organization within one particular site, folders are usually better. This way you can make it easier to reference included files like stylesheets, javascripts, images, and other files. However, in my opinion, if your purpose is for a whole site (like your own site on a free host) I would use subdomains. This way you can use a forward slash ('/') and go to the root of the site. Because if your freesite url was like "hostsite.com/yoursite", you would have to use "/yoursite" to get to your root.
  17. Well... the name should tell you. It's a game where you play as a soldier in AMERICA'S ARMY. You can just do a search on google or your favorite search engine for Americas Army and you can find out all the information about it. You can download the game from the website or visit your recruiter and get the game on CD-ROM.
  18. Well the black background really goes against my opinion. It was more the users' choice. They wanted it. It used to have a white background with black text. As for the "sticking to the top"... I designed it purposely that way with 0 margin at the top and bottom. You think that's bad?
  19. http://www.hgst.com/ A very nice site I ran into today. I like the design a lot. Very Web2.0. It kinda combines a lot of different sites like photobucket, flickr and others all into one. Sign up and check it out to see what I mean. It's pretty darn nice!
  20. I've had a hosting account here at Xisto for a while now, but I haven't put any sites on it until just now. I only had a few little subdomains in use for some testing and stuff. Now I have my site hosted here at Xisto. So check it out and tell me what you think. The content may be unfamiliar or even possibly offensive to some. But I'd like you to review the design and function of the site and tell me what you think. Most of the work is pretty old. I need to redesign the whole thing. At least it is XHTML compliant Also CSS 2.0 I think! LOL. Well, post away and tell me what you think!
  21. Hmmm... weird. I had the name servers right since the start. I tried adding it after 24hours. I checked on a few whois sites and the whois info said it was pointing to Xisto. Everything seemed in order, but it still wasn't working. It was giving me some error messages. I think the problem was that when I tried it originally it didn't work but it left a blank directory for the new domain. Then every time I tried after that it would see that directory with the same name and cause an error. I deleted that directory and it worked. Everything is in working order now. Thanks.
  22. How can I set up addon domains on my Xisto account? The notice says this: Does this mean you do not allow addon domains on Xisto? Or does it mean I have to do something special in order for it to work?
  23. At first all I knew was HTML. I thought that's all you needed to make websites. I thought that's all there was pretty much. I saw CSS code and was like what the heck is this!? At first I was intimidated and just thought that I didn't need to know that if I can already make my websites look how I want them to. Eventually I got bored and read about WHY CSS is good. So I eventually got around to reading some tutorials and understanding the syntax of it. Then I learned about how all the properties work. Lots of tutorials, lots of hours. The best way is to experiment of course. I mean read as much as you can about CSS. Then get yourself a free host that you can play with. Write some HTML pages and toy with the CSS. Surf the web for interesting site designs. Look at the design, then try to see if you can make a similar design without looking at the source code of the other site. Then compare the code and see the similarities and differences.
