    Hi There :)

Hi sarahh92, welcome to the Xisto forums. I hope you enjoy the time here and good luck with hosting! Of course should you want any help, everyone is about in the forums
  3. Welcome to the Xisto forums, I hope you enjoy your time on here!
  4. You know what, I'm actually really happy with it! When dealing with design stuff like this its all too easy to get stuck into looking at things differently. All it needs is to take one step back and look at it with a clean slate Dude thanks for the help you can see the hard work on display below now , its perfect so don't worry about a version 2!
  5. Hi mate and welcome to the forums! You should be happy here as the hosting is great, not to mention easy on the wallet.Don't worry its not that you cannot post one liners, as long as what you say actually contributes something then there is not a problem! For each post the number of myCents you get can vary, and for a longer more quality post you get more! It is a clever system and does not simply go on length but analyses the quality as well Have fun!
  6. Hey nice work truefusion, the rarryawn text looks cool, its exactly the right size and I like how its a bit wonkey also in white its clean and stands out well. The white blur behind the text is definitely growing on me! The way you used darker shading from low to high does go well with the text though I reckon it could be slightly less dark...400x125 as you have done it is a great size and kudos on the 1px black border with 1px "lighter inlay", I stand corrected on a sharp edge it does look good :)The zoomed in nose is awesome. My only real gripe with the overall sig is that the nose/eye doesn't seem to work well with the "complete" picture of the lion on the left. There's just something odd about it! What do you reckon about that, I'd like to be able to have the tongue/yawn/amazing mane(!) somewhere in the sig if possible, is there any way to match the two bits differently?Cheers mate its looking good, what do you reckon about these changes?P.S. The attachment worked fine :-)
  7. I have to say that is quite a good idea Truefusion! WMP does play the .mkv files so that could well be a starting point! Although yes I guess that would cause a hit to the system, for the following reason: I think one way to safely avoid all the performance hit issues is to "Pause" the background when some windows are opened up, and resume it again only when the background is visible! This would also mean you don't miss anything! Also I reckon that if you were to simply discard audio processing, the hit would be lower. rpgsearcherz yes I guess you could say the end result is just for fun, and hopefully the path to it is interesting and fun also! To clarify by rotating movies as you guessed I mean moving to the next .mkv once the previous video has got to the end. For example, rotating between files in a folder :-)
  8. Hi, One thing I've always missed is having a nice sig, hopefully someone will be able to give a helping hand! I have filled out the info that you guys probably need but please don't stick like glue to it! Feel free to add any creative touch that you're good at, I don't know what goes well.. you do! I have only one real requirement and that the following lion is in the sig - picture Size: Fairly steamlined - perhaps 380x120 or 400x140, you get the idea! No bigger than 450x170 Theme: Calm Render: Yes Render Theme: The Lion, Out with nature, Grazing, Calm?! (Sorry I can't seem to nail the theme down :-) ) Color: Whatever works well with the lion.. Royal blue or gold is always good! Text: Yes - simply "rarryawn" in the sig somewhere (It doesn't need to be really big). Whoever sorts me out with the sig please make sure to put a "by you" in the corner Other effects: Sorry, not sure. I'm not looking for anything techno-y with hard edges though.. One other idea I had was a fading out transparancy around the bits in the sig to smooth the edges, I've no idea how bad stuff looks when you put transparancy on it, just an idea.
  9. Hello I'm desparately trying to find some software that can display .mkv video files (H.264 codec, audio is not required) as a wallpaper for windows vista.I've run into dreamscene briefly before but it seems they would need converting for use with it. I was hoping there is something that can do this with one or preferably more than one file and rotate around some full-length video files? The computer should be more than up to the task of HD plastered to the wallpaper!Does anyone know of something that may do the job? Cheers
  10. Thanks Moogler you just gave the reply I was hoping for. From what you have written Albus, you are not ready to drive. End of. You say you've driven without insurance which is bad enough in itself, but the worst thing is that you're writing it all here. Anyone who is responsible will have the restraint to keep things to themself. You say you won't be able to magically get your license in 3 months time because you have to take your test. Well Great, Really. Why not make a homemade license whilst you have to wait? I spent 3 months on and off before finally taking my test, because it can wait. I know plenty of people who havn't even bothered taking their test yet. Whilst I also know plenty of younger people who really can't way to drive. That's how it changes as you get older. Now to the original poster, if you're in the UK they're moving the age limit from 17 to 18. I actually think this is a very bad idea. Mainly because we can legally drink at the age of 18. Most people will have drunk before a couple of times or more, or less maybe when they are 17, but it steps up a notch. It takes a while to get over the excitement of driving, and also being able to drink at the same time will have to get over that as well. Bad combination. I'm 18 now, but I took my test 3 months into 17. I would say the age limit should definitely not be below 17. Now I hear what youre saying some are more responsible than others but the age limit has to cater for all possible drivers, whilst still being 'fair'. Safe driving everyone.
  11. And I pose this reponse to you...How Many Are You Running? I've made the switch to vista a while back and honestly, I have found it troublefree. It crashes far less often than xp, I have had no compatability problems with programs. Granted I have a fast computer, so speed is not an issue. I am also running Ultimate on an old laptop of mine, because I tried to use XP, and the drivers would not work and recognise the hard drive array. All I could do was install vista, because it picked them up right away from a default install. Has a lot of compatability drivers built in. The old laptop was fairly slow on XP, and is fairly slow on vista. I have not noticed a performance loss. In fact it seems more stable now. Now I'm not condoning either way, but if you're computer is reasonably fast, just switch, you will forget you're running windows after a while. If you want to know whether a machine of yours is fairly fast, just send me a PM with the specs and I'll try to help you out *Just my two cents everyone* Oh and if you want vista for DX10, its not worth it. DX10 barely makes a difference, and microsoft have announced the DX10 drivers will be released soon for XP.
  12. After reading another thread about rally games here at the trap, someone mentioned RBR as being their favorite rally game. I hadn't heard of it but I decided to give it a go. I looked around on the 'net to see what I could find and downloaded the game to check it out. MY GOD! THIS IS ONE SERIOUS RALLY SIM! It responds like no other racing game I have ever played, the cars are not forgiving, but are very responsive and realistic handling. This game is 4 years old and still has a huge number of dedicated players/modders because this is known to be the most realistic rally sim about. The graphics are not great by our up to date standards, but honestly I am enjoying rallying so much they are certainly fine. Screenshot I would honestly tell anyone to give this game a try. It is amazing as realism goes and also fun to play. It takes a LOT to master! and I mean a LOT to get used to the way the cars handle, but stick with it and have patience and it really is great fun. I love it so much, its now got me into rally games, especially as the subaru is the car you get to use and it has always been a favorite of mine. I just ordered a Ł150 logitech steering wheel so I can experience the rallying in more realism rather than on a keyboard! If you want to try the game I believe there is a demo, or it can be picked up for around Ł5 now it is four years old. Or if you really are feeling shady, don't kill me mods I have chosen words carefully, << Removed >> But please, if you like the game, buy it. Notice from rvalkass: No matter how carefully you choose your words, you're still saying the same thing Remember that illegal software is not to be discussed anywhere on the forums.
  13. Unfortunately you've run into the problem that a lot of people will do at some time with normal portable cameras. The delay from when you press the button to when the shot is taken really can't be helped and some cameras are worse than others. You are right, one of the major reasons to buy a more expensive (SLR-type) camera is to reduce this to almost non-existant delay. What you can do to help, I wouldn't recommend disabling the AF or turn off auto flash as Buffalohelp suggested. For small cameras, they need a bright light source otherwise the picture will come out grainy (as you have discovered!) or blurred. The grainy is the camera increasing the ISO automatically (as buffalohelp suggested an increase, which will help "freeze" an action shot to not be blurred, but will make the picture grainy as a result, try to avoid this by taking in good light or using the flash) So it may well require a flash if you're indoors, possibly if outdoors at dusk. The AF will improve the photo-quality a LOT. Instead, Try aiming the camera where you are going to take the action shot, and press the shutter button halfway down. The camera will not take the photo, but should focus, set the right exposure (to avoid a picture too bright or too dark) and prepare to take. When you're ready press the button. You may have to look ahead and allow for some "lag", but there should be much less than before using this method. Play around, see if this is bearable. Other than this there is really nothing you can do apart from purchasing a more expensive camera, which should not be necessary for most situations. I'd stick with what you have Oh and one more thing... without a quick responding SLR you really have to be lucky to get a high speed shot such as this!! Sorry, couldn't help flogging one of our holiday shots
  14. It does sound like you have an incompatability problem there. I would carefully check the RAM specs are correct and then change them (if possible) to the original make or a take another chance with a different brand which could work.I doubt the RAM you bought is defective since it half works, just ends up with a crash every now and then. Another thing is it could be your OS, what are you running? updates?
