Longhorn Screenshots screenshots of the new m OS
snlildude87 replied to snlildude87's topic in Operating Systems
Yeah, that just tells you that every good idea that a competitor comes out with is automatically snatched up by the evil hands of Micr$oft. *tear* M$ doesn't even give other companies a chance to compete. When a new company or idea comes out, Micro$oft simply buys their idea or incorporate it into their Operating Systems/softwares, and say they made it. On a health topic now, your cough seems awfully bad. It's turning into a "gough" now. You should really have that checked, Anthony. -
Check out these sweet screenshots I found on the upcoming Windows Operating System, Longhorn, due on 2006: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ To me, it looks like Windows XP with 6 coats of wax and OS X in mixed in. According to the screenshots, it looks like you get more screenspace because the toolbar at the top is not so big anymore. A bad thing that will come out of this, or so I've heard, is that Longhorn will spy on you because Microsoft wants everyone to buy their software, so their company can grow, and Gates can get richer. What do you think of these screenshots? Will you buy it when it comes out on 2006?

There are two ways that I can think of, and each will ultimately make your image size smaller. 1. Decrease the size of the image (dimensions) (recommended) 2. Decrease its quality (not recommended because it would be a huge turn off for your visitors) 3. Save the pics as png You can always make the buttons smaller by resizing it using a program like Microsoft Image Resizer Microsoft Paint does a very nice job of decreasing image sizes. Simply save it as a .jpg file. OR! You can save your pictures are png files. I find that large png files take less than 100 KB of space whereas large jpg files can take up to 1 megabyte. Huge difference. I don't suggest using a program to convert the image to a png file because conversions are not always smooth...I say just make the image from scratch in Paint, and save it as a png file that way. There is a fourth option, and that is making a preloader, but I don't know how to do that.

Wait! It does work! I can bet you anything that you have a slow internet connection. All you have to do is place your mouse over the images until they change. Trust me. It works.

What do you mean limitations with the DTD validator? It seems that everything in my website is correct, but the stinking validator keeps saying my flash markup is wrong....maybe I should just put a button there that says my site is validated just to spite them. :lol:Thanks for your compliment on the banner. The next is somewhat not centered, but I'll fix that in a couple of months.

Hmm, I'm looking at your rollover code, and it's definately harder than it's meant to be. I'll tell you what, give me the URLs of the images (before mouse over and on mouse over), and I'll write the code for you to make it work. :lol:About the report thing, yes, reporting your own post is 10 times better than double posting. We encourage members to do so because it uses less sql space.

Hmm, where exactly did you place animate.js? In the same folder as i2sl4.html?

It depends on a lot of stuff. For starters, what processor are you using and how fast is it? If your answer is "celeron", then I have some bad news because a celeron is the worst processor ever made. Believe me. I have it. :lol:And how big is your video card? 64 MB is the lowest one in the market that comes with a new computer nowadays. To find the specifications of your video card, right click on your desktop and click on Properties. Click on the Settings tab and click Advanced at the bottom right. Then click Adapter and tell me the memory size. If it's lower than 64 MB, then you might have some problems playing Gunbound, and I suggest you upgrade it. Radeon is the best in the market today, but I don't know the best card made by Radeon.Anyways, good luck with your problem! :)By the way, what bot do you use in GB, and what rank are you? I'm a silver axe on boomer.

icemarle, remember to post back your results, and let us see if you fixed the problem or not.

Got it. <script language="JavaScript1.2" fptype="dynamicanimation" src="file:///C:/Program%20Files/Microsoft%20Office/Office10/fpclass/animate.js"> You are loading the file animate.js from your home computer, which is very illegal because people cannot access your files, so you have to upload animate.js and call it something like this:<script language="JavaScript1.2" fptype="dynamicanimation" src="animate.js">

Yep, the highest package, package 4, was package 2 today. There were nothing higher than that. The only difference was the amount of hosting credit needed to obtain the packages.
-
Hmm, back in the day, you needed 50 hosting credits to get 100 MB with 2 GB, so that may have contributed to your being ahead of me. PS. I have 309.51 hosting credits before I post this thread.

Hmm, you can have a hidden form with hidden inputs in 1.php... 1.php: <?php echo "<form method=\"POST\" action=\"[url of script to send info]\">\n\t"; echo "<input type=\"hidden\" name=\"[name of your choice]\" value=\"[value of the data from previous script]\">\n"; echo "<form>\n";?> I hope this made sense, but this is essentially what you did in your example... I'm still a newbie to PHP, so I'm trying the best I can to help you.

Negative Credits Deleted posts etc...
snlildude87 replied to outlawspirit's topic in Web Hosting Support
Well, if you think about it, aren't all articles written by a person? Nevertheless, you are encouraged to correctly cite sources and use the quote tags whenever applicable.Glad I solved your problem. Remember to always have fun while posting, and your hosting credits will follow. :lol:Thread closed. -
Negative Credits Deleted posts etc...
snlildude87 replied to outlawspirit's topic in Web Hosting Support
No offense, but this is exactly what you did. Your Illuminati post was copied DIRECTLY from another source. Word for word. This is considered SPAM according to Xisto rules. Also, you are supposed to be banned from Xisto for bombarding the boards with this information, but since you have a clean record, you will be given a much benign punishment. Also, I found your facts post to be spam because they too were copied from another source. When you post information that isn't yours, you have to use the quotes tag, or else you are stealing the information, and you are abusing the credits system. -
At first, I have to confess, I was posting for hosting, but once I got the "hang" of this forum, I started posting to help others out and to just have fun. Also, I'm trying get as many hosting credits as I can. (I have 300+ as of now)
-
Credits depend on the size of your posts. If you post "lol" or "thank you", then you will not earn as much credit as if you post a 300 character post. The more you post, the more you earn. However, if you decide to spam, then one of the staff members will delete that post, and you will lose MORE than what you earned. Another reason not to spam.Question answered -> thread closed

Exactly. They said that people in the year 2000 will be living on the moon. This is 5 years later, and I'm sitting here in this big blue ball. Anyways, I think the idea of a flying car would be very cool, but you have to consider the facts of reality. What would it take to make the car? Time and money. Like you said, flying cars are very close, but what will it cost if those cars come out? Hundreds of thousands of dollars? Maybe millions. When telephones first came out, only the wealth were able to afford them, and they were considered a luxury, so I think if flying cars ever come out, only the richest of the rich will be using those. And what about the safety of them? One day, when you're walking down the street, and you look up into the sky, and you see a big car flying, wouldn't you be afraid that it may crash? What if you were in that car? Wouldn't you be afraid that it might crash? I'm asking a lot of questions because the whole idea still seems questionable to me.

My Website Isn't Online But i have 10 credits.
snlildude87 replied to Lyon's topic in Web Hosting Support
Lyon, have you put questionable content on your site that were against the Terms of Service and rules of Xisto? That's one of the reasons why your site is not unsuspended despite the fact that you have sufficient credits. -
mtonline, you cannot get more bandwidth by having lots of credits. The most you can have is 5 gigabytes per month (not 6 GB), and you can get that amount only when you have 30+ credits, like outlawspirit said. More bandwidth would be very hard to implement because the admins would have to make a script that could do all that. The only reason why the number of packages got cut in half is because it was hard to maintain all 4 packages. The only way that I can think of where you can get more bandwidth is to switch to the best paid hosting ever. outlawspirit, please do not ask for reputation point. The entire point of the system is for other members to *spontaneously* reward you for a good deed.
