I do host some of my pictures using my hosting account, but because of bandwidth concerns and the number of people to visit Xisto every once in a few seconds, my bandwidth will be used up quickly, I don't trust the smaller image hosts and photobucket (as ashxu said) is pretty unreliable...I still have my (very) old freewebs hosting account up, and so since I get no visitors, I am free to host some of my pictures there

Maybe you are suffering from some sort of "long-term-nausea"? Because I once knew someone that only ate "taste-neutral" foods (foods that have no flavour (i.e. water, PURE bread, dough, etc), and would get disgusted even by the smell of things like chocolate (no, he's not allergic to chocolate)...But you need to try and cheer yourself up, think happy thoughts, if this continues to happen you need to see a doctor...

Spammers Using My Domain To Send Spam
csp4.0 replied to gisellebebegirl's topic in Web Hosting Support
Could be because that your e-mail system on cPanel (like Saint_Michael said) has been compromised by some sort of script, or even a hacking attempt that succeeded...If it were just the e-mail system, then I would recommend you delete all the mail address, and create a new one with a different and "harder to guess" password... That way, even if the "spamming program" (even though it might not be a program) knows the e-mail, it still can't get in....It may be an attempt to frame the company, so if this problem continues to occur, I would recommend you contact the company who (may or may not be advertising their products through spam, intentionally, or unintentionally) may do something about it...If this were just an e-mail issue, or because someone tried hacking it and succeeded then I would just recommend you get a more secure password (one with lower case, upper case, numbers, symbols, completely random, and has minimum characters of 8), but if it is a security issue which allows some script to remotely change coding on php files, or maybe cPanel files themselves, it could be a serious security matter...Good luck on fixing the problem by the way -
Well, firstly you've got to recognize what a big problem over-population, unlike depicted in Sci-Fi shows, in maybe one thousand years time, Earth won't look like Holy Terra, or Coruscant, but in fact look like a giant barren, war-torn wasteland...It would be impossible to keep the population under control, and no organisation, let along person can lead an entire planet... The main problem with this is resources, you can't have a good civilization unless you have ample resources...Our resources are already running out, if they almost completely run out, we'd be fighting over the last remains of resources, and starting with relatively high-tech weapons and ample munitions, the fighting would slowly degrade to bow and arrows with people charging at enemies with sharp sticks tied around their waists...We would only have enough resources IF we mine the moon for Helium-3, it would give us such a big boost in the search for nuclear fusion power... and if we colonise Mars and prepare it for growth of crops to sustain the food supply for Earth, and not to mention the Iron Ore extracted from Mars' surface will indeed be very, very helpful on Earth, Atmospheric scrubbers will remove the dangerous chemicals from the atmosphere on Earth and Oxygen would be created from "Tree Farms"That would be the ideal way of life, but if we don't do something quick, it's back to Nuclear Winter

Well, if cPanel Filemanager doesn't work, then you can try to delete it using Filemanager Legacy, or if that fails aswell, you can try to delete using your FTP client (which I'm pretty sure that you have)...Anyway, are you sure that the file isn't currently being used? But, if it isn't, then you can try uploading the new .png file directly and select the "overwrite existing files" checkbox, if that fails maybe then, it could be a not so big, but possibly very annoying bug to do with Filemanager, or even cPanel itself...But maybe soon Opaque or BuffaloHELP can assist you in a more "professional" way... :)Good luck by the way

Trap17 Forums: Is It Time For A Clean Out? ...yes, if I say so...
csp4.0 replied to spyzo101's topic in General Discussion
I think, instead of deleting posts, the posts should be in fact moved to a "catching forum" that enables post count.Like all topics over so many years old with the last reply maybe several months? years? ago, it should be moved to the "catch-all" forum...This way, people would still keep their credits and it also clutters up Xisto forums, and being a "catch all" forum, it could be hidden from normal user view and could maybe be "compressed" so it saves disk space for Xisto as well...So... To save even more disk space, many topics in the "{NO_POST_COUNT}" forums (maybe excluding the one with the lyrics and stuff) should be cleared completely, I mean pruned down to the last post... Which won't do anything to damage user's hosting accounts...So, this (In my opinion) is the way to go... And instead of making a subforum/forum for everything, they should be "generalized" and not so popular forums should be merged with another forum similar to it, or even deleted altogether...Another thing to do would be to prune inactive accounts, it will get back so many MySQL space, and would allow for more and more users to access and register on Xisto...Xisto should also be more strict on their free hosting to prevent sites that use up all their bandwidth almost instantly, or those that act as "relay" and/or "mirrors", there should also be more control on the free web hosting itself, even though many users upload archives, extract them, but don't delete them, this may use up disk space and should be deleted...More should be taken care to prevent spam messages, maybe put a "minimum word count" on certain forums where spam is most prone... Well, there are my opinions for cleaning up Xisto, and making it a better experience for all those loyal members out there -
I got my source from here: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Can_coca_cola_anve_a_steel_nail The validity isn't very valid, and so, maybe not a steel nail, so probably an iron nail, but more likely... Teeth (or as the orks call it "teef")
-
Well, you should really stop your friend from drinking so much coca-cola, not only does it destroy teeth like a tow missile, but with all those sugar in it, you'd probably be better off eating mistletoe...Anyways, personally I don't drink coca-cola... I've gotta admit that it tastes pretty good, but barely ever drink it, and only drink it if I have to, but even if I'm just invited to drink coca-cola, I won't drink it... Having the thought of that experiment where they put a steel nail inside a bottle of coca-cola and a week later, it disappeared, having been eroded away COMPLETELY by the coca-cola...

Well, I just got Windows XP Service Pack 3 for Media Centre Addition (MCE) and it doesn't do much in my opinion, it says it just fixes a few security holes, some bugs and some minor generic improvements...I was hoping for a MASSIVE GUI difference and to make my computer's desktop similar to that of Windows Vista, but when I restarted my computer, nothing much changed, all that it did was give me "You are low on disk space, click here to solve" error :lol:Well, personally I don't think that this is the REAL Service Pack 3 for Windows XP, it's probably a scapegoat of some sort so that Microsoft can have some extra time working on the REAL Service Pack... They shouldn't of called this a "service pack" anyways... More like just some generic patches bundled together to me...

Yeah, but remember that replicators have a way of making something so good, it made even the creators recoil in horror (i.e. the time when they sped up the maximum speed of a Ha'tak 600 times...)So maybe they can turn the Halo rings into something completely unexpected...
-
My friend was just arguing with me about who would win, a replicator or a Flood... To make it fair, a flood starts on a planet with in excess of 1 trillion population, and a replicator starts on an uninhabited planet rich with neutronium... To those who doesn't know what a replicator is... It is a major enemy in the Stargate Universe... Here is a picture: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png (too big, so wouldn't be fair for dial-up users...) and the Flood... It is an enemy that the forerunners gave their lives to destroy, but it has arisen again... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Both have extra forms, but the pictures are both the most basic form... So, what do you think? I choose replicator side, because if you think about it... Replicators are immune to almost every attack the Flood can unleash on them and don't for get the human-form replicators

Ok, so my friend came over to my house the other day to verse me on a game of good 'ol Yuri's Revenge... So, both computers have the IPX thing installed with the network address at 0000002 (forgot exactly how many 0's there are supposed to be) with the network type set to 802.3... So, then I disconnect from the internet and connect to my friend's computer through a crossover cable, I turn off all my firewalls (Windows Firewall & ESET NOD32 firewall), so does my friend... I open Yuri's Revenge and go to Options -> Network to see if everything is correct and stuff... Then I go back to main menu and go into network, I can seemy friend's username but if I try to send him any message, my friend doesn't recieve the message, neither does my friend detect me... So what could be the problem? EDIT: Got it working... Mods/admins/anyone with moderation controls can lock this thread if they want to...

Personally, I think that ESET NOD32 3.x Security Suite is the best anti-virus program out in the wild yet...Lets just compare it to other popular anti-virus applications for a moment...Being almost twice as cheaper than Norton 360 Anti-Virus security suite, and being able to scan WAY more faster, and having alot more, support, uses ALOT less resources than Symantec Norton 360 Anti-Virus security suite. Which puts ESET's NOD32 WAY in front of Symantec's Norton 360 Anti-Virus...There is also McAfee (Not sure if I spelt that 100% correct, but anyways), although the two are quite similar in most aspects, ESET's NOD32 Anti-Virus has a smaller RAM footprint, which puts it in front of McAfee, but stepping back from paid Anti-Virus programs, there are the freeware Anti-Virus programs...With AVG being very popular amongst any community, it is a major rival, but because of AVG being free, it would step in front of NOD32 IF price is a concern, if it isn't, then NOD32 is bound to win, it uses alot less system resources, it scans more comprohensively, AVG would be great if you are on an EXTREME budget, or don't want to spend any money...With some community members going for AVG, the others are also going for a less wide-spread Anti-Virus program called AVAST! It is a great alternative to most anti-virus programs, but even though free, NOD32 steps in front of it. I have tried all the above Anti-Virus programs...(Norton 360 from when I bought a laptop and it came with a 3 month free trial), (McAfee, when I bought my laptop, it came with a 6 month free trial), after the trials were over I got AVG, but for some reason, uninstalled it, and started using AVAST! (NOTE: Avast has a "!" (exclamation) mark after it just like Joomla!), but after reading many reviews on how NOD32 is so good, I got that, and I am using it ever since...

Ah! My website was online just this morning and noon (GMT +10, no daylight savings, standard east-coast Australian Time) and now I can't access it, nor can I access cPanel or any part of it!According to Xisto's Network Status page, the server that I'm on (Gamma Server) is still be "transfered" to the new datacentre, even though Apache is offline, I can still upload files to it, but according to it, THERE IS NO INTERNET CONNECTION! I just hope that no data will be lost during this transfer, and also that they may have more uptime after the transfer... Never again should there be more than 12 hours of downtime for any Web-Hosting provider, heck, I thought Xisto and/or Xisto - Web Hosting was going to shutdown after I couldn't access any of the main servers that I can remember from the top of my head :lol:EDIT: Now, 24 hours downtime ...

Ok, so the time has come... I have given my website a totally new design... the forums have also been changed alot aswell... Anyways, please review it! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.obelisk.co.nr/ - (No DOCTYPE, and so won't pass validation, please visit http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ for the Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - (Both the same, so no difference which one you choose) Anyhoo, I know the site is completely XHTML 1.0 Strict Valid (from when the last time I checked, which was just before I uploaded to Xisto servers) The website's CSS isn't valid, which is a problem because I really want to have opacity settings, yet in normal CSS it isn't supported (Browser-specific support (i.e. "-moz-opacity:0.8;) for Firefox set at 80& opacity) which is a shame because I really hoped that opacity tags are valid CSS Anyhoo... What do you think of the website? The website also has some broken links (webpages which I haven't yet made (such as the C&C, WH40k, SG links)) Please NOTE: You require Javascript to be turned: ON to view the site properly (Take note the "Imperium's word of the moment" each time you re-view the page, and also the words underneath the title) And don't forget the register at the forums! ... Well... What do you think?

I can't tell you anything about acupuncture thats for sure... But I can tell you experiences on many types of traditional chinese medicines...When I don't feel well, what I normally would do is just stay at home, but if the condition gets worse, maybe some panadol to help ease whatever is making me sick. But if that fails, I go to the cupboard and in the back of it, some traditional Chinese herbs that my parents' brought back from their trips to China..Anyways, there are mainly three types of medicine. One is where you mix with boiling water and slowly drink down (extremely bitter! which is why you have to drink it with very hot water to numb the effects of the bitterness), the next is where you break open the seal (usually wax covering a plastic seal) and inside a small ball of ground up herbs and stuff... which you can either eat it whole or make it into smaller fragments and eat them with hot water... And the third is where you use it as a spice almost, rare because not as fast-working as the other two, when you cook food, you just put a bit of the medicine into the food, and eat it...I have tried all of them, although very bitter, works very fast and works very well...

Just register with any free E-Mail service provider (i.e. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail etc...) And just use that E-Mail when You sign up for offers, registration forms which you don't really trust...And only use your REAL E-mail address for important communication (i.e. friends, family etc...) and important, AND trusted websites (i.e. Paypal?)I currently sort of have one, but I don't like the idea of having two different E-mail services...Also, consider will it be worth the trouble before signing up for something which has been CONFIRMED to spam e-mail addresses, (for example. Signing up for a e-mail service with 500,000 spam a day, and only winning a Celeron, with 256MB RAM, WON'T b worth the trouble...)

I'm just making another website, didn't have anytime to make a "temporary replacement" so I just found a random template and used that... But in few more days the "real" site should be up... The new one is build especially for Firefox and even though it will be tested on IE, it might not display as good... The new one will have auto-switching backgrounds, auto-switching header images and even a Warhammer 40,000 quote of the moment! "Daedalus" ain't based on Deux Ex, just that I don't like generic (images/bg/{filename}.{extension} etc) and I just finished watching Stargate Atlantis episode "Be All my sins Remember'd" and was thinking of the BC-302 Daedalus and just thought to use that as name, also check the .js files there's oddysey and something else, all Stargate references... Yeah, the sidebar will be easily moved to the left (either change the content to float:right; or sidebar to float:left;) The header text if any larger for some reason ruins the design of the page (everything goes out of order and stuff)

They should never of made robots to replace the soldier, this is probably the first step into the path of doomsday by our own creation, Terminator? No, more like battlestar galactica. Even though there is no artificial intelligence being that is even remotely capable of thinking for itself, in about two-to-three hundred years time, we probably would...Although the doomsday scenario might not be nearly as bad as battlestar galactica's apocalyptic ending, but more of a "Command and Conquer 2: Tiberian Sun: Firestorm" scenario where an extremely advanced AI is given control of the entire brotherhood of nod's cyborg network connection, it rebels by surprise, but the rebellion was cut short when the two world super-powers joined forces...Anyhoo, they should NOT experiment robots like this ever again! Human greed will be the undoing of us, AND the planet! Our curiosity has damned us with eternal suffering! [pardon the pun]If they continue to try an develop advanced Artificial intelligences capable of deciding for itself, then we might as well release some replicator spiders on this planet!Lucky that no-one was injured or even killed... Robots with weapons are already dangerous, giving them a mind will be suicide! -A quote I made on the spotSo, they should STOP development of the robots even if it will risk thousands of military-non-innocent lives...

For you just use a simple, proSilver based style, don't mod it through cPanel, actually use a FTP manager, download the file, then edit it with Dreamweaver, NOTEPAD++, or an advanced code editor...Remember to follow instructions CAREFULLY, you can maybe mod mods once you get to know the mods better...And remember to backup your files, I can't stress enough saying to people that you need to backup you files! In php a single missing comma, colon, semi-colon would probably mean death for the entire forum!
-
You can change permissions so that only members can post in a specific forum, and if you have tight rules, member probably won't spam... I find the categorize announcements, stickies, and global announcements really useful especially in a "Site Announcement" forum, as people would want to know what topics are announcements, global announcements, and stickies... Shoutbox is (in my personal opinon) too high, should have a height of around 200px and might be better to place that in overall_header if people wish but then {forum_index}/chat.php won't display well... The Advertisement mod is only for people who want to earn a little extra revenue, for those people who prefer a little more "functionality" such as... Ability to only display advertisements to guests, etc should get this mod "phpBB3 Ad-Management" which is available here: https://code.google.com/archive/p/phpbb3-ad-management But it is a little harder to install as some people (including me) get "You do not have permission to access ads.php" or something like that. I don't like the phpbbstyles styles, most are subsilver base and aren't W3 standards compliant, yet most of the styles at startrekguide are and many are better than eXtremePixels styles...

Computer Speed Enhancer. how to speed up your computer
csp4.0 replied to savge17's topic in General Discussion
For many programs disabling their "startup" command without the program knowing may cause the program to encounter problems, I've had this problem when I tried to use MSCONFIG to disable HP printer programs from loading, but whenever I tried to run the program again, it encounters an error, and the blue screen occurs, I re-checked the program on MSCONFIG and it worked perfectly, when I used CCleaner to disable it, it just started normally... Not all programs are affected by the MSCONFIG "trick" but some programs are vastly affected, and even if programs aren't tied to startup they are affected. A very good example of this is Supreme Commander, when I used to play this game it would work perfectly, and would only cause memory leak when I have 300+ units on the field and have 0% RAM left. But when I used MSCONFIG to disable startup programs so that I don't have to close programs through task manager every time I want to pay Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander would go blue-screen every around 10 minutes, but when I used CCleaner to disable startup programs, it went back to its original state. I'm not saying don't use MSCONFIG at all, just be careful with its use and even programs not linked to it may be affected... EDIT: The memory leak issue may have been fixed by an update/patch because the article linking to Microsoft's explanation of MSCONFIG and memory leaks is dead -
Just a reminder, that this topic will have absolutely NO support for any of the styles/mods mentioned above, if you want to get support please post in the appropriate topic at phpBB's community or Startrekguide...All of those mods are MODX which is a lot more easier to install than normal MODs...Both phpBB and Startrekguide communities have guides/walkthroughs on how to open a MODX file, and use MODX installation files.Getting "auto-MODX installers" are NOT recommended, if you do use them backup all files edited before using the MODX installer.Remember to backup all files you're about to modify because if you do make a mistake (which is very easy to do especially on cPanel file editor (not saying it ain't good, it is very useful for quick edits, actually)) you can just backup the files. Also if you do have a phpBB 3.0.x RC board, you might want to consider upgrading to gold/olympus edition before installing these mods...

For those of you who are hosted on Xisto and using phpBB3.0.x you might want to consider adding some mods...Some mods which I extremely highly recommend to get is:#1 "Anti-Bot Question" mod, which adds a question like "can you see through glass?" (not actual example, result may vary), according to many people who have tried the mod, it is REALLY useful at keeping low-medium level advanced bots at bay, although some extremely complex advanced bots may still get through... I personally don't have this mod, but I would install it if I have the time to...#2 "Evil Quick Reply", it adds a quick reply to your phpBB forum, I find it very useful and almost renders normal reply completely obsolete once it has been modded to accommodate the tools... There are alternatives such as Prime Quick reply, those are still very good, but I personally prefer Evil Quick Reply, which while I'm at it, Evil Quick Reply is NOT evil, the Creator is someone called "Evil >3"#3 "Categorize Announcements, Global Announcements, and Stickies" is a mod that categorizes announcements, global announcements, and stickies so that it is easier to se which is which, this mod although an extremely simple idea is VERY useful and makes a forum look many times neater#4"Change User's Warning Count", with phpBB3 you CANNOT change a user's warning count meaning that you can only wait until the warnign expires at a set time, what this mod allows you to do is reduce a member's warning count, effectively making the board 10 times better as people may have redeemed themselves and want a "warn-free" day/s#5 "Highway of Life's Advertisement mod" the mod allows placement of Google Adsense advertisements after the first post and on overall_footer. This mod may be unnecessary for most forums, but for those webmasters who want to earn a little cold hard (soft and warm if it is very humid in the area you live in) cheques by Google... The mod is very easy to install and works beautifully, the advertisement mod was designed for proSilver and won't work well on subSilver2...#6"Highway of Life's AJAX shoubox addon" is an AJAX shoutbox that is placed right underneath board stats and above login module (for default), it auto-updates every five seconds so there is no need for refreshing the page... Not very necessary but your board's member will sure appreciate it!to get these mods please check out http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (don't worry scifi haters, there's barely anything there about startrek!)or https://www.phpbb.com/ and click "community" NOT "customize"don't forget to check out http://www.shadowflames.us/ their skins are better than eXtremePixel skins! (in my opinion, are even better!)I personally think people would pay to get their FREE skin "Glacier" and maybe a bit less/more for their other skinsSo check those out people!I hope those links don't break rules , I'm sorry if I posted in wrong forum - If I did, please move to correct forum
