  1. Well, for me it is CHRISTMAS! Merry Christmas everyone, I hope that you'll have a merry Christmas, and that you got the present you wanted... For me, I got 2 pet fish... (which reminds me, do you think "Santa" gets Christmas presents?) Well, merry Christmas everyone here are Xisto, it has been a long year, may God bless us all, may God guide us from the darkness and into the light! May he enter our hearts and cleanse us of all our sin! Oh LORD JESUS! May God Bless you all, and once again have a very, very, very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
  2. WHAT? HAPY CHRISTMAS? ain't it supposed to be merry christmas? not only do I get to celebrate christmas sooner than those living in the United states, I also just got my christmas present today... some fish (fish tank included). The true meaning behind X-MAS is to spend time with your family and to have a happy time, not to have presents whilst your sister is on her honeymoon 2142KM away...
  3. I like simpsons, they are much more 'view-friendly' whilst Family guy just gets to the point regardless of whether it is rude. The Family guy does actually copy of the simpsons and the creator of the simpsons don't like the family guy producers (or if there even are any decent producers) and vice versa...After the simpsons it'll be futurama, creatoed as the successor of the simpsons...The it'll be Family guy, and don't even get me started on american dad (which is a copy of all three)
  4. it only puts thermal stress on the components, that is why it was cheaper for ENIAC to be kept on continuously. Although kepping components on reduces its lifetime, resarting cycles put a lot of thermal stress for many components (namely the CPU, the GPU and RAM) some cheaper components also get the chance of power surges when you turn them on...
  5. HAHA! I get to celebrate christmas 1 day earlier than those living in the United States... Also I celebrate my first topic that actually reached over 1 pages in length...Anyway, merry christmas eve everyone, hope you have a merry christmas and a happy new year!I expect to be buying my bird in a few hours time, and hope you all get what you wantd for christmas and may God bless you all...May the Force Be With You...
  6. ouch! i remember when my friend's tooth broke in half! It was bleeding like hell, and i hope those teeth do 'fix' themselves or you get some money from the 'nest egg' or the 'swear jar' so you could fix those dentures, chipped teeth can easily cut your tongue and it really hurts! trust me...
  7. I just wanted to start a topic of what you are getting for christmas (or if you don't know because "Santa" hasn't told you yet then say what you want and hope that "Santa" is watching this thread) Why do you want your present and what present would you not want to get (I mean be serious who is going to give you air from their lungs for christmas (I wouldn't want to be getting undergarments thats for sure...)Also what would you want to do for christmas (sit 'round the table with your family talking while you're playing on your US$5000 Laptop from falcon-nw etc etc)so come on!I know that i'm getting a pet bird, and a pet fish (fish tank and bird cage included) for christmas, although I would want AU$2100 spending money...I would not want a $2 watch that I got 2 years ago (broke within 1 month). And I might be going fishing... or staying at home playing on my computer which barely handles CNC3...
  8. if you mean PC (personal computer, no windows) then PC will be a lot more user friendly, and also that their 'Start' button is so hard to reach sometimes. and because most hardware stores these days only stock 'PC' certified hardware, and many Macs (such as the iMacs, etc) are very hard to open (if you don't know what you're doing) and also that many macs nowadays have a screen built into them so if the screen breaks or it malfunctions (dead-pixels, stuck-pixels etc) then you'll have to get a new one (unless of course you are going to get a replacement screen (which is very rare to find and is hard (and expensive) to replace...But with PC, all you need to do is replace the monitor... easy...Oh, and did I mention that their start button is hard to reach sometimes and is a major inconvenience and it is very annoying... yes i did actually...I don't agree with you on the performance part... because now any computer (regardless if it is Windows or Macintosh) the hardware is the thing that counts. If you plan to build your own PC with the same parts and build a Mac with the equivalent to parts then there won't be much difference at all (Windows will go ahead in some situations whilst Mac will go ahead in other situations).I personally don't like Mac, not only does it have almost no 'Fun' games on it, it also has no right mouse button which I find very annoying especially for some applications which have been modified for use on a Mac.Macs are generally much more expensive than windows' computers and I think you've got it the wrong way round... a windows computer costing around US$1500 might have a Mac with the same performance for around US$2000-US$2500...So, yeah, I personally prefer PCs' (Windows computers) but Macs are fine for some things (like video editing etc) although if you do want extremely good performance + being very cheap (US$0) and being able to run in parallel with windows get LINUX! (I should do more exclamation marks but there isn't much point)
  9. Oh, the monitor is the easiest choice ever! Just pick a monitor which is the lowest price (<US$250-300) the biggest screen size (22" seems to be the best value for money), the best refresh rate (the lower the better, I'd recommend 2ms, those 5ms are a little slow if you're in to extreme fast movies and/or games) and don't forget the brightness (450-500 does well, although the higher the better (to a certain extend)), last of all, if you are going to be using the monitor to watch movies with your friends/family consider getting a monitor with very good viewing angles so that nobody fights for the front seat. Speakers are not so important if your going to get full blown surround sound, but consider monitors with better speakers (10W+). Oh, and ah... remember the resolution is very important, a typical 22" monitor should have 1680x1050 (or something like that) if the resolution is 1440x abcd it should be 20" etc... if its 1280x efgh it should be 19". Resolution is very important, although some 17", 19" laptop LCDs have 1920x1200, 1920x1080 resolutions desktop LCDs are a little different. Don't all buy from newegg too, some other sites (like dell.com, tigerdirect.com etc) might have some x% off sales too... Remember, if you are going to be playing games (like Crysis etc) then you'll need a monitor with a very good contrast ratio, I recommend atleast 1000:1 although they might be $50-$100 more than the 800:1, 900:1 monitors well here are some recommendations for LCD screens... These are from newegg.com: Monitor-1 Monitor-2 Monitor-3 Dell: Many Dell branded Monitors Well, that is all. Good luck Monitor Hunting (a division of house hunting...)

    Trojan Horse

Well, a trojan horse is something like a 'Spy' that disguises itself as a friendly software or something, or maybe even friendly software. What is does is to lure you into a sense of false security and make you run the program, and in some cases (with Windows Vista) even give it full administrator security clearance. So, a trojan horse is a virus that embeds itself into other programs which makes you install the trojan along with the friendly program, the moment you install the trojan is activated, some are there to install adware, some are to create 'backdoors' and others just mess up your computer. To get rid of them any good anti-virus program would do, I see you use AVG. AVG would be good enough to remove most trojans/viruses but for some you'll have to use special software specially designed to take care of that virus/trojan horse...
  11. Take note I said 8800GTS 512MB, take a look at its benchmarks compared to the 8800GTX8800GTS 512MB *Different to the 8800GTS 320MB or 640MB and also take note, the 8800gt is extremely hot, it can reach temperatures of up to and over 90C on peak loads. Whilst the 8800GTS 512MB's revolutionary new heatsink design means it has a lot lower temperature...
  12. So I talked to my friend today and he said that to give a list of requirements and to find the right mobo with those requirements. The requirements are:SLI-ReadySupports 45-nm, Quad Core readyDDR2-1066 (he's got 1066 RAM)1066/1333 FSBAtleast 6 SATAATX form factorHas to be 680iand is less than AU$400 (so no striker extreme)and preferably made by ASUS, eVGA, Gigabyte, or XFX
  13. I don't think that it can kill you directly but there are some incidents of people sleep-walking and jumping off roofs etc. Also some dreams might bring back old memories that and might cause some people to commit suicide or something.
  14. I disagree with some of the people here, I would go with the quad core, because many games and applications are taking advantage of multiple cores, and core clock isn't the world! (i.e. a 3.0GHz Pentium D Dual-Core will NOT have better results than a 1.8GHz C2D) and also tests have shown that 16 AMD cores aren't as fast as 8 intel cores!anyway, why go with the aerocool PSU? the corsair one has more reliability! And why go with patriotExtreme RAM, when 2GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS2 DDR2 ram is barely AU$180! Yes, 620W should be enough, although if I were you i'd go with 700-800W especially if you're going to add another 8800gt. Oh and by the way, why not the 8800gts 512? it only like $100 (US) more and delivers performance that rivals the 8800GTX (in some cases). If you aren't going to get full blown surround sound (i.e. 5.3 or above) you won't need that sound card, and if you are getting overkill surround sound (i.e. 11.3 channel) then it won't be good enough. So I would suggest you just loose that sound card.Nothing serious but why not get a full ATX case? I mean it does have better air circulation and all that stuff and a lot more room too.Good luck on your build... *you'll need it
  15. Anyway, my friend is looking to buy a new mobo that'll go well with his Q6600 and 8800gt that he recently got. Trouble is he is almost out of money and still needs to buy the mobo. He's stuck on two decisions These are very hard desicions because they are both the same price, almost the same specs and both are made by pretty good manufacturers (eVGA and ASUS).Anyway please help me decide which one is betterThe eVGA 122-CK-NF68-T1 or the Asus P5N32-E SLI (680i SLI, NOT the 650i SLI)ThanksPS. did I mention that he might use SLI and buy a second 8800GT...
  16. no, i don't think Christ was born 2007 years ago, because who knows? Our history has been manipulated by important people such as high ranking Roman commanders, Emporers. But what you said is true, no matter how bad a person is as long he believes (not like *bah', but like Ned Flanders belief) and is baptized shall be saved. No matter how filthy, dirty, etc your heart is as long as you invite Jesus Christ into it, it will be clean and be washed with the blood of the lamb.Praise The Lord!Anyway, I don't celebrate Christmas (XMAS) that much. I don't put up a $200 christmas tree, or sing christmas carols, but it does symbolize a sign of freedom and hope because (according to records and belief) Jesus Christ was born on that day. And yes, christmas is a time of love-diddly-ove,

    Gun Kata

ha! i loved that movie! well, gun kata is supposed to put a person in a special position using statistics and probability, the moves put the user in a position where they are least likely to get hit by enemy fire and to allow them a lot more room for fire. If practiced properly by an experienced person, theoretically they could take down entire armies with just two 90mm heckler & Koch pistols (with infinite ammunition of course) because no bullet would hit them, and basically all the bullets fired would hit the enemy.I doubt that this is real, because there is no 'most likely hit position' everyone fires their gun differently, and also doing this would require inhumanly fast reflexes, and one wrong move could split a tendon, dislocate a shoulder etc.
  18. hahaha! you're actually quite close! It's a test dsigned to check your browser for any weaknesses by giving it some tests (acid) and see if those tests (acid) will do any potential harm or let dangerous coding seep through.
  19. huh... i know what a hydrogen fuel cell is, but in Terminator 3 it depicts the terminator's hydrogen fuel cell exploding like a miniture tactical nuke of a couple of kilotons. Anyway, this would be a great idea to equip cars with hydrogen fuel cells, but wouldn't it be better if the fuel cells could extract moisture from the air and condense it into water? so some sort of moisture vaporating hydrogen fuel cell... hehehe...
  20. a light saber's [blade] is made of pure energy with no mass, the reason it's hard to control (people getting tired after using it) is because that it emits very powerful electro-magnetic waves that interact with things which makes it hard to control, in reality if two lightsabers collide nothing would happen, they would go straight through each other.
  21. Even if we can teleport photons or protons, the problem is the sheer mass of decatons of iron. No power source (maybe not even the sun itself) can create enough power to 'teleport' all that iron inside the sun unscathed. Also your idea about the vacuum energy, there is not much vacuum energy in the universe, or there might be but how can we harness it? I mean if there was enough vacuum energy in the space of mercury to power a 100W light bulb, then we could harness the power of vacuum energy of the solar system to teleport the iron. But would that iron do anything? I mean a decaton is extremely minuscule compared to the weight of the sun, all I know is that this iron would be able to create immense fluctruations within the sun itself. But would it be enough to permanently stop the nuclear fusion process? If you think about it, just before a star goes supernova its entire core is basically made out of iron, a couple of decatons is not even half of the core! Also consider would our sun actually go supernova? The sun dieing by itself does not have enough mass to cause a supernova but would a sudden fluctruation give it an energy 'boost' or more likely 'decline' that would make all the particles inside the sun more and more excited, eventually causing a supernova. Now there is one problem with that theory... where would we get the iron? We could mine every last iron atom from Earth, but that would mean basically destroying our own home planet just for a doomsday experiment! If we mine it from mars (well there goes our dreams of ever living on Mars!) and the asteroids will be too dangerous to harvest from, even with robotic harvesters. And how could we teleport all that iron? we can't teleport it one atom/molecule by one atom/molecule! or else it will merely be fused before the next atom/molecule reaches its destination. So there if we could do this experiment, how will we get a power source? how will we get the iron without completely destroying planets, and what would happen If we do manage to transport the iron into the core of our sun?
  22. no... if you could find a way to 'teleport' or 'move' several decatons of pure iron into the Sun's or any other star's core... remember the sun is a giant ball of nuclear fusion, not fission. And if you are interested in nuclear physics like me then you would know that fusing iron uses up energy, not created and that is how a star goes supernova (when all material in the sun's core is fused to iron it won't fuse anymore because fusing iron uses up energy, the eternal battle between energy and gravity is over, gravity wins. The hydrogen from the star's outer layers give a final push of energy which is the supernova and then the star either turns into a black hole or it turns into a neutron star). So, there if you want to make a star go Supernova go teleport a couple of deca-tons of pure iron into the sun's core. But how would you get the iron to the sun's core? teleporting it like in Stargate is out of the question and putting it there manually is impossible because of the immense heat and gravitational forces. No nuke would do anything to the sun, even a giant nuke with a ball of weapons grade plutonium the size of pluto will not do anything to the sun, and even then the energy generated would be minuscule (maybe one pico percent) to that of the sun's energy let alone a blue super giant.
  23. maybe there should be some kind of 'test' to make sure that nobody randomly puts up incorrect data like people do on wikipedia. And also they should also get a 'blueprint' for most of the information from a real encyclopedia so that people won't just modify information according to their own design. Also I hope that this 'online' encyclopedia is really good so that people can't swear, put up pornographic pictures etc. This will never beat wikipedia though. Google might have the upper edge over any search engine but once it expands into other areas it looses, badly...
  24. i can't wait, I just hope they fix some bugs and slowdowns caused by certain scripts. and I do think that mozilla should release a Windows Media Player plugin for firefox. Also I hope many of the themes extensions (especially noscript) will support 3.0I might get the beta although I never liked betas since there is always the problem that they could cause memory leaks etc.Well, with all the cards in play lets hope mozilla firefox 3 is not as bad as the oder versions, and lets hope they never try to copy off Internet explorer
  25. i have never got any money with AWSurveys so I think it is a scam, I am legitimate but one day they just said my account was not found in the server. I had around $50 on it and lost it all, when I signed up for it again no surveys but my account was still there. I still suggest using genuine ways such as cash-crate, treasure trooper, Adsense etc to earn money.
