First of all, global 'warming' is a bad name... Although the world's average temperature will rise, some parts will get unbearably hot, others will get unbearably cold...Climate Change is a 'better' term for 'Global Warming'...Other than that... Try watching some documentaries and docudramas... (i.e. An Inconvenient Truth, What the world will be like in 2050 etc)

^^ No, there are 31,536,000 seconds in a standard year...But... There are an infinite possibilities for these so-called 'parallel universes'... There is one for every possibility, and there are infinite possibilities... A good example would be, as egotistical as it may seem, in some far-distant parallel universe, I... Am the Supreme Overlord of the Universe! We shall never know, because... Whatever happens, we're still in the same universe

Its not that... Because most people use Windows is why Windows is mainly targeted... Linux is open source, meaning, chances are, whoever is trying to write a virus will make Linux more secure, whereas Windows is closed source, and only Microsoft can make the adustments which makes it immune to whatever virus...And also, using root everyday is a stupid idea Its 'overkill' chances are, you're not even going to install a program which you need to be on every single account...Try using a limited account while surfing the web, and only use "root" when you need to install something every account needs (i.e. Office program, Drivers, etc)

Well, first of, NEVER turn off your engine, most cars nowadays have power steering, and turning off the engine would make it near-impossible to steer (Cars also lock their steering if you try to steer too much with the engine off :s).From what I can remember from a Worst Case Scenario episode I watched several years ago.#1 Leave your engine: ON#2 Keep Calm! Think about your decisions before making them!#3 Try the handbrake!#4 If change to neutral#5 If traffic allows, swerve from left to right#6 Try to find an uphillBut in the worst case scenario Make sure you try to think slowly - quick decisions are bad decisions - And make sure you're making the right decision i.e. Crashing through safety barriers and driving the wrong way is NOT a good idea on a busy freeway... At rush hour! The most important thing is to KEEP CALM!

Too many things, which could make us extinct are about to happen...The LHC (Even though its NOT going to kill us, people still think so )Coronal Mass Ejections: These things, under the right circumstances, can destroy the powergrid of any, and every country... A major coronal mass ejection is due near the 2012 peiod... It might not mean the death of humanity, but it might mean the end of civilisation... How can humanity ever live without electrical power, and technology?Supervolcano Eruptions! (My personal fav.) lol, Yellowstone National Park (A supervolcano) is also due to erupt soon, which'll probably be the next couple hundred years... A supervolcano eruption virtually killed off all the humans several thousand/tens of thousands/millions of years ago... Back then, they could live on instinct, and not rely on technology, today, we REQUIRE electricity to literally 'power our lives'...Polarity Reversals (Probably not gonna kill us, might gives us cancer though :S) Not much to comment, these are also due to happen, the Earth's magnetic field will be reduced to a minimum, if a Coronal Mass Ejection Occurs, we'd be bombarded with massive doses of radiation. Ehh, mayan calander predicts that life might end, so what? If we die, we die... There isn't much of an effect 'counting down' to our deaths... People'd still live similar lives... This'll be like y2k, it'll happen, or it won't... People make too much of a deal out of these 'doomsday predictions'...

Continuing with the above...Credit card details may be stolen in ways you wouldn't think of in a... ever! There are many sites which are fake, but are NOT copies of other, legitimate websites! They are themselves, websites that look genuine, and lure you into thinking they are genuine, making you buy their product, 3 months later, no product arrives... You money's been taken...There are even MORE ways, such as a legitimate site that WORKS with malicious people. They deliver your goods, etc etc... But suddenly you get a bill for some random thing, that you apparently bought in a country you've never even heard of... You ring up your bank, your bank says that a website has stolen your details and made the transaction, you call up whatever company to ask why, and how it happened... They can quite easily say something along the lines of "Our database was compromised, we apologise for all inconvenience caused."The best way to combat theft of credit card details, is only go on trusted websites, which, either a friend has recommended you, or a store which yuo have been to, and trust...If the price is too low, look closer... (Before you buy from a site, always check for reviews, etc)

Only 1GB? It'd be good for small amounts of sensitive information, but say, you have more 'sensitive' information, you would need to acquire more than just one USB drive...But, would it be plug & play? Is the data encrypted? (like jlhaslip said, not just 'locked'), and if so, how 'strong' is the encryption?I will assume it uses a quite low quality fingerprint sensor, that should be able to be cracked using simple, ink, latex gloves, and some saliva...The USB drive shouldn't be particularly popular at this stage, as its storage capacity does not rival that of, say a 8GB drive, which can be encrypted with a 3rd party encryption program...Further research is required into making this the next best 'plug'n play removable storage device' of the century

It'll connect through port 6667...Not sure what you mean by permissions... Do you mean that i.e. Only 'registered' users can use it, or something :/

Hello...I've been absent for quite a while :/But now, I'm back and I'm better than I was 3 seconds ago...Anyways...I know that Xisto forbids hosting of IRC servers...However...For example, I have a irc server at, lets say... irc.example.com, and I get some random java-based IRC client, and upload it to Xisto, so that it connects to irc.example.com... Would this be allowed?

Carpet burn ftw :DI prefer carpet... Its a LOT more comfortable walking on, you can randomly lay down somewhere and rest regardless of where you are...Yeah, sure a wooden floor is a breeze to clean, but in the winter, that cold feeling you get when your feet touches the cold wooden floor in the early morning is REALLY annoying...Whereas with carpet, its always warm and cuddly... Even though you should get your carpet professionally washed every once in a while its worth the warm & cuddly feeling :DSo yeah... In my opinion, carpet is better

A single download doesn't affect ping that much... Multiple downloads do... So do uploads (infact , ESPECIALLY uploads)...Connection speed IS important, but it is irrelevant... I mean, most online games will still work with dialup... But they can't tolerate a high ping (usually 300ms+ would be considered high, though in 'knife' servers, 100ms might even be considered high)The best ways for you to reduce ping, WOULD be to move closer to the server... Get a faster connection, wire up your computer DIRECTLY to the modem, NOT the router... Never use wireless... And avoid sharing connections...Different games have different ways of dealing with lag as well... Some games have 'reverse lag' which basically 'freezes' and everything continues going forward on a straight waypoint and you're free to move around... Then you get reconnected to the server and everything suddenly goes 'backwards' within a few miliseconds and you're bach to where the disconnection started...Another common type is the 'freeze&error' When the game detects any anomolies, an error message pops up (usually, 'Connection Error' or 'Unable to establish connection to server') and the game freezes... Sometimes it might take a few seconds, others it'll take a few minutes, and sometimes the game will go bach to main menu and you have to join again...Lag can be very annoying on games, though I take advantage of it (On CounterStrike 1.6, I can sometimes kill people with guns even though the ammo counter doesn't decrease...

I remember reading an article a few months back about Nikola Tesla, if we'd followed his steps we'd see this type of technology everywhere by now, but instead, we chose Eddison's side to use wired power cables, etc...The only problem I can see with this 'Powermat' is electromagnetic interference. They would need to perfect this before it can be properly, and fully 'integrated' into people's homes...But what if we take this idea and expand on it?So, for example. We might have a single transmitter in the middle of a house sending out electrical power at a certain frequency... And then have all electrical components have a reciever which needs a 'key' of some sort to use the particular frequency, so power will not be stolen... This will revolutionise the Earth...

Windows Xp Activation online actication expires
csp4.0 replied to networker's topic in General Discussion
Its a `runaway` effect. The prices are going up because more and more people are pirating... Yet, the more and more people that pirate, the higher the prices will go...If everybody stopped using cracks illegally (There ARE some that use them legally, i.e. If you can't activate, even though you've just bought the disk from Microsoft's website), or better yet, stopped making cracks and depending on the manufacturer of the particular operating system to make the activation process `smoother`...But, no matter what... The cracker would ALWAYS win... There is no point in `stopping` cracking as it will always go on, but make it harder? That would make it almost impossible for the average consumer...And no, miladinoski, that wouldn't be the `perfect` operating system... As if you want a good operating system, it has to be customizable... It doesn't matter if the customisations are produced by the operating system's manufacturer or by a third party... Having all those features built-in would not allow for customisability...For me, the best operating system would be one that can ultilise RAM, and CPU efficiently, has a very low footprint... And a VERY small browser... i.e. No fancy GUI, just a refresh, back, forward, stop, and a URL bar... And there would be a separate disk containing different softwares made not only by the manufacturer but also third-party software... It would increase competition to create the fastest, yet good-looking, simple Operating system bundled with the best software packages, and for a very low price...THAT would be the best operating system, in my mind at the moment... -
Solar Powered Air Conditioning An idea for an invention
csp4.0 replied to linkadrip's topic in Science and Technology
Ahh... But I remember that this HAS been brought up before...In a discussion (Not sure if it is on Xisto) that said something like, "The sun is always there so why don't we strap solar panels to anything that uses electricity?"Well, if solar panels were cheap, then sure why not... BUT... Solar panels are not cheap, and even though they are expensive, they have very low efficiency, like only 8% or so of the sun's energy hitting the solar panel are being converted to electricity...THE most expensive solar panels can convert about 16%-18%, which isn't much at all... But I can see where this is going...Scientists are trying to develop a new kind of solar panel which can reach 40% maybe even 60% efficiency, but that isn't just around the corner... When that technology has been developed, we wouldn't even need solar power to power our cars, water fuel cells, hydrogen fuel cells, may be powering our cars by then...The main reason your idea isn't being implemented is because: solar panels will not work as well as you say so... The pollution created by the production of the solar panels may even exceed that of the cars' air conditioners... -
Well, Read a book called "Hover Car" (I think), by Matthew Reilly (I think), it is a book about "Hover Cars" which travel on roads with electromagnets, and the cars literally "hover", however, it would not be such a good idea in real life. As, even though the friction between the tyres and the road has been eliminated, it will be VERY costly putting electromagnets under every road and electrifying them, making them... Impossible...@kelvinc 2Your idea about using the Earth's own electromagnetism would not work as planned... The Earth is due for a polarity reversal, where the magnetic field would almost disappear completely, making development of these technologies useless as the Earth would have basically no magnetic field for a century, and a VERY unstable magnetic field for a further 50 years... It COULD work in theory as the magnetic fields generated by the electromagnets on a MAGLEV train are LESS than the Earth's own magnetic field, but atleast it can go anywhere and not just magnetic north-magnetic south...Einstein is the biggest "speed cop" in history... Not only does he say you can't go faster than the speed of light, he won't allow you to!But there are loopholes, watch "Alien Engineering" Both Parts 1 & 2...It explains wormhole generators and warp drives... Wormhole generators bend the fabric of space-time and creating a "shortcut" but I highly DOUBT any wormhole generator would even get the FRACTION of the power needed to power it with anything short of a zero-point energy extractor... But a warp drive is possible, imagine bending space time infront of the craft and expanding it behind the craft, have the craft travel at any speed, and accelerate the rate of which space-time is being "bent" to that which is faster than light, and as a result this would propel the "bubble" of space-time forward, all the craft would need to do is to stay inside the "bubble" and it'd be going faster than light without any of the side effects of travelling faster than the speed of light...But why do that? When you can make a Stargate?, Same concept as a wormhole generator except on a smaller scale, only a single-bit matter stream would be required... Which probably wouldn't make the wormhole collapse on itself...

Well, personally, I think it is a good addition to the list of mods installed on Xisto... Although I think it is too easily abused...Many times already, I was marked as spam and bad spelling from many people who had just registered (I mean like not even a hour), and haven't even posted/or have but have blatantly posted spam...I think the system SHOULD be re-installed, but there should be some limitations on who should be able to "vote" or more likely, rate someone...A good limitation would be people who are hosted, or have reached over 50 (or so) posts without getting warned or banned...SO, I support this, but ONLY if there are limitations put in place to prevent false ratings...I don't actually rate people much, only if I remember... So if it IS re-installed, it should be put somewhere a bit more "noticeable"... i.e. A dropdown menu underneath the user's profile saying "Rate This Post" or something...

It would not work. Even though the Earth does have a magnetic field, the field is nowhere near strong enough to lets say, levitate a car...Also, if you were to do that, the objects would only be able to travel magnetic north to magnetic south without any other form of propulsion...The only way to have hover cars is to use some kind of "Anti Gravity Drive"... As Ion Engines would not work if it is raining or the air around you is ionized. But There is one more option...The next "power source" would be refined nuclear fission, then nuclear fusion, refined nuclear fusion, and finally, anti-matter colliders... Before we reach the end of conventional methods of generating electricity/energy, after that we would have to try exotic ways of getting energy, such as siphoning the energy off of a star, or a black hole, or even siphoning zero point energy (which holds as energy as wide as the universe itself...)Energy and resources are our "weakness" if we had a zero-point energy extractor right now, we would all have houses with cold-plasma shields, and hover cars, and spacecraft that can reach like 50% the speed of light...We will never know what the next type of energy source would be... Who knows, maybe SETI finds an alien species who'll give us an unlimited source of electricity the next day...

Opaque Grows A Year Older Yes, Boys and Girls It is OpaQues Birthday
csp4.0 replied to velma's topic in General Discussion
Happy Birthday Opaque! STORY: One day, a long-long time ago, in a datacentre far-far away. A child was born. Back then, internet hosting was very expensive and was lead by a single organization who owned the web hosting monopoly. When the child\'s own website got taken down because he didn\'t pay the monthly bill of $99.99, he decided to take down the corporation once and for all. He devised a plan, a plan which included 17 traps. He laid the traps carefully, one by one and soon, all the 17Traps were in place. The corporation eventually fell after being led into one trap after the other. But soon, the corporation regained its former glory and destroyed the 17 traps. The child, now no-longer a child. Had a child, which he named -Shree-. He gave Shree a legacy. To take down the corporations which oversell, and overprice webhosting once and for all! With the creation of Xisto (In honour of the 17 Traps), Shree is on the path to WORLD webhosting DOMINATION! -
W...T...F!?You don't have phpBB on that list!?Think about it...IPB costs like... US$140 for 1 license and like US$80 for future licenses? vBulletin costs like $170 for one license and US$90 for future licenses, something like that...SMF's licensing terms are TERRIBLE! You can't modify it without fear of getting sued by them!So... phpBB owns just because of that... It is Open Source AND its free... It has basically ALL of the features you would find in IPB and vBulletin and SMF, it also has some more! Its open source meaning you can modify its base code directly without fear of getting sued and you can even ask for support...phpBB is so simple and effective to use, its code is so clean and structured, I'm using phpBB as a base to build my own CMS and I'm even using phpBB's code to build a text-based game engine! You cannot get past phpBB in terms of simplicity, modification-ity, open source-ity, and price... Sure, I would recommend vBulletin or IPB for company boards because of security issues, but if you're very small or don't have the money, phpBB is ULTIMATE, and once you've tried phpBB3, you WILL KNOW WHY...So ditch other BBSs and use phpBB3! NOW!Which reminds me... The best BBS is actually JiveSoftware's forum thing... Almost ALL the big companies use it, including EA, NASA, Northrop etc...

Ok, my nominations are below... I have decided to nominate just 1 person for each category... Who said "Most likely"!? He probably is right now! Well... That's it from me... Notice from jlhaslip: added quote tags

How Many Virus' Have You Managed To Install
csp4.0 replied to kobra500's topic in Security issues & Exploits
For Major virusses, 2 times as far as I know...Golnanosat virus (Which installs PowerAntivirus2009/2008 (can't remember))And some random other virus with an unsually long name...I have had a LOT of tracking cookies in the past, but after getting the ABP (AdBlock Plus) addon for Firefox3, tracking cookie rate has been decreased dramtically...I got them since I disable my antivirus/etc while gaming to reduce RAM usage and latency, but just that day, Murphy just had to walk by... With all defences down, I just had to visit that website on the phpBB's Support Topic about rogue iFrames... I just HAD to enable noScript to see what it did... PowerAntivirus immediatly kicked in and restarted my computer... NOD32 did remove most of it on starup, however I required reinforcements in the form of Malwarebytes' Antimalware to completely remove it...The other virus, though far more dangerous (Keylogger/Backdoor) was pretty easy to remove... I don't know how I got it, but during a routine scan, I picked it up with Spybot Search & Destroy... I used NOD32 to remove the remnants and ran Malwarebytes' Antimalware just to be safe...And I also ran SmitFraudFix after deleting each virus just in case they were in the tem folder or something... -
Antivirus most efficient antivirus software ?
csp4.0 replied to spawn_syxx9's topic in General Discussion
I in fact use a multiple of antivirus softwares...Norton isn't good at all... First of all, it can't pick up many virusses that are considered "Easy to pick up" by some of the other antivirusses... It also uses way too much RAM, and it thinks too important of itself (i.e. MUST always be on, etc etc...)I personally dislike AVG, but I like AVAST! AVAST doesn't use much system resources, its free and it has a pretty good virus database... Although AVAST!'s GUI is very user-unfriendly... :lol:Now...I use ESET's NOD32 alongside with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and Spybot Search & Destroy...I use NOD32 as a standard antivirus, however... Malwarebytes' Antimalware is used when I know there is something wrong and NOD32 isn't picking it up fully (Though,by now I would've booted in to safe mode and ran SmitFraudFix.exe...)... And Spybot Search & Destroy is used to clean up possibly malicious registry entries...I rarely ever get major virusses (Indirectly, since I run them on an unsed computer (with no antivirus present) to see what they actually do...) as most are just rogue registry entries... ^_^Oh, and don't forget, another good way of stopping virusses from appearing is to use Firefox 3x with NoScript and ABP (AdblockPlus)... -
Microsoft is jumping through Stargates with the Iris closed... (I just wanted to say that)Anyway...Vista is new... In fact I have barely used it yet! I mean, XP was probably the best operating system out there...Some people say that Vista is basically XP with extra eye candy, but I say no... I say Vista is a piece of overpriced, typical, "next-gen" operating system, with supposedly "new features" and "astonishing performance"...Windows 7 will probably be a let-down... Microsoft should focus less pm eye candy and focus more on proper coding, and not over work already 60-hour-a-week coders... Windows 7 should come built-in with protection to MOST virusses and should also have a firewall which doesn't conflict with most commerical 3rd-party firewalls...It should also come with a very simple GUI and not something which will take 1 minute just to figure out where something is and how to change it... Windows 7 WILL be a let-down... Don't count on Microsoft making anything decent with its over-worked coders... *sigh*

The frontpage of Xisto.com looks very clustered up and quite messy... I would recommend having a centred section at about 66% width and 100% height... Or... 1000 pixels should do the trick...Make the background a VERY light grey or VERY light teal/grey-blue colour as it'll give the site a little bit of "contrast" between the background and the main "section"... Have padding-left set to around... 10px-15px (sorry, I don't use em mainly because I can't "count" the pixels on my screen )...Have the sidebar at around 20%-25%, the centre section at around 50%-60% and the right side to about 20-25%... That way, you can have the sidebar with all the links/plans etc, the centre section devoted to the main articles and the right section devoted to all the news etc... Also, keep the flash header the way it is (Just a bit wider and have "Forums" in it as well...I would personally get rid of the iFrame lest it be hijacked and used for malicious purposes... Also... Have a link to the Xisto readme and AUP/TOS/WIGAWIB/HYSUTSP (What is Good, and What is bad/How you should use this service properly respectively) It should be plain CSS+XHTML as then you w on't have to care about a CMS getting hacked or something, though you would have to edit the files manually... Which wouldn't be very convenient...And some tips... Use lower case letters for all the HTML tags, add a DOCTYPE for a HTML/XHTML version you wish to chose, avoid the in-line CSS...And try to use layered divs instead of tables...

The brain is like a dual-core CPU... Just integrated so much that it literally acts as a single-core CPU... But if you break that connection, it would turn the brain back into a dual-core CPU...I was watching a documentary about a savant who's connection between his brain's hemisphere's are so terrible, he can read two pages on a book at the same time and because of that, he can memorise anything and everything he sees/hears/says etc as an added bonus... The brain has possibly infinite amout of "memory" as in theory, if every subatomic particle in the universe was converted to data, it SHOULD fit into the memory on a single human brain... :oWe do use <12% of our brain at any one time... And by brain I mean neurons... So we can only use <12% of all the neurons in the human brain at any one time...A normal human brain cannot possible multi-task like that of a quad-core CPU... Nor can it do things as fast but it has infinite potential... Meaning a few genetic adjustmentrs here and there and a Intel Core 2 Quad surgically placed inside the brain should do the trick...
