  1. Uhh... How are you going to use those long quotes as your screen name?
  2. I'm using Windows, and I'm sure I have the Windows Default sound scheme selected. My box doesn't have any speaker, only the internal beeping thing. My sound comes froma headset and a set of speakers plugged into it (well, not at the same time...).
  3. I don't get this part... Yes, they can't be those problems, because I can still listen to music while I this problem is going on.
  4. I don't know when this started to happen, probably not caused by me though, but my System Sounds don't work anymore. You know how when you change your volume in Windows, it makes a beeping sound to tell you how loud or quiet you've turned your volume into? Well, it doesn't make that sound anymore. But, I can still listen to music and sounds of my own or in games, etc., just not "Windows generated".I think the problem is some wrong setting in the Sound and Audio Devices Properties of the Control Panel. I am using the Windows Default sound scheme, selected at the Sounds tab. For the Default Beep, "Windows XP Ding" is used, and I could play it perfectly well in the configuration window, but not if it is automated by Windows (i.e. volume control, error, etc.). I can also see sound settings for MSN Messenger, which is also muted right now, so that's why I think it's the error of the configuration. It's a bit hard to explain, so if you don't get what I just said, reply with questions.Ooops, almost forgot the ultimate question: How do I fix my sound and get it back?
  5. Hmm... It works now after I cleared caches and refreshed for about 10 times. Weird... Thanks.
  6. Hmm, I guess it's ok... It's not like one of those noob personal websites (which I still have, and haven't updated) with those blinding colors and distracting graphics. But, if people look at your page for a long time, their eyes would get a bit tired. The colors also kinda distracts the reader from reading your text. And some of the buttons on the page loads too slow, which makes the visitors wait a while. I'd rate it a 7/10
  7. This morning, I set up a subdomain for my domain hypercubical.cjb.net, which is forum.hypercubical.cjb.net. After I set it up, I immediately went to it to test if it works. Strangely, it links back to Xisto's front page... So, I waited an hour for it to change, which it didn't, untill I had to go to school. While I was in school, I checked it again, and it worked, linking to hypercubical.cjb.net/forum, which made me all happy inside . Anyway, I just came home to check out my forum again using the subdomain, and I found that it links back to Xisto's front page again. This is kinda weird. Is it the problem with my ISP (Road Runner)? Can anyone access my subdomain properly? Or is it a problem that only I have?
  8. Wow, you didn't get any errors on your first try at all? When I installed it, I had this error message that comes up whenever I try to access the messages, so I had to uninstall it and check out the support topic on the mod. After many tries, I finally figured out how to fix it: Going to a file called arcade_sql.php in the root directory of your forum and running it first. Then I installed the arcade and it was fixed.
  9. > I would recommend using SMF, the Simple Machine Forum. It's free, you can download it and then upload it to your site and use it. There are lots of add-ons for forum-based games, activities and stuff. Trekkie101 has a tutorial on how you can get it here. I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you try it.
  10. If you want more colors in your site without slowing it down, you can just use colors for most of your pages. (I can't word it very well...) When you examine this forum, you will see that most of its colors are not images, but simply just... colors. There are some graphics used here and there for a gradient or some buttons, but there's not much. The slow loading time of this site is not because of its graphics, but because of its ad server.
  11. Hmm, kinda looks confusing... And why is it arranged in a spiral galaxy shape? It didn't say anything about how it relates to a spiral...If it's going to be distributed, as it said it is, it should chang ethe background a bit... It's a bit distracting.
  12. With the technology we have now, people would always want more than they need... And also, graphical programs like Photoshop, 3ds Max, etc. are pretty big in size. Though they still won't take up the whole disk... I think you're right. They will most likely use these disks to put bundles of programs/games/movies, perhaps for "the customers' convenience".
  13. Wow, I've never seen or heard of it! Can you maybe try to find another copy of it on the Internet? You might have more luck, since you have the magazine with its description... I can't wait to see it!
  14. Heh, I actually have only started to use this a week ago with my Google/Gmail Account. I thought it would be handy, but I have not yet made use of this function. It's kinda creepy how Google would know what links I clicked on in my search...Privacy is a pretty big problem. When I search for bad stuff on Google, I usually would log out first if I remember.
  15. I think you should explain that the result of this would be the word TEST with the picture as its "background", or color. If you make the text a larger font, it would get a better result. Also, by animating the text around the scene, it'd seem to have an animated "background", or color (or texture, as 3d guys could think of it that way.). I also think that you should explain that using masking inside a symbol is not required. If you do put it in a symbol, it doesn't have to be a movie clip either. Sorry DENSS, for so much criticism... I'm a picky person...
  16. I've heard of Internet-2, and I don't remember, but I don't think it really is the same as the Internet. I think it's just used as some form of testing environment with high-speed LAN. There is no way Internet 2 will replace the Internet.I don't know if I'd survive without a computer. I think that the first months would be agonizing, but I might get used to it after one year. It'd be easier to live through it stranded on an island, though. Living with civilizations would tempt me back to the computer world.
  17. Wow, thanks, ninjamunky!!! I never knew that the font I've long been looking for had always been in my computer!!! It didn't look like what I was trying to find at first, but after some more detailed inspections, I've found that it is!!! Rep point for you!!! Some more exclamation points!!!
  18. Heh, the site's template has not been changed to fit the site...SITE NAMEYour Slogan HereHow can they be sure how the aliens communicate? They don't even know if they react to vibrations the same way humans do. They may not see the light we see, but instead ultra-violet or something we have never even heard of or seen before.
  19. I'm trying to find a font for the things I'll be making (flash, etc.), but I have not yet came across a font that looks the same as it. I have actually been finding and waiting for it to find me for about a year. I have a picture of some text that uses this font. I believe that it is sometimes used in bar codes, where it says something like ISBN 0-92832-2983-0, or something similar. Here's a picture of it. The letters/numbers/symbol I found above are the following, in order: 1 3 . a A B C D E F G h H i I L M n N O R S t T U V X Y If anyone could find it, please send me the font file, or tell me the name of the font. Thanks for all your help.
  20. Umm... Haven't any of you been to the Gmail site lately? Now you can use your Google account, which is free, to log into Gmail. You don't have to invite anymore, just get a google account!
  21. qwijibow, maybe you could help PC Ashtray add in some quote tags, then remove those notices? They are quite hideous. I'm sure it'd fix the problem after you add in the quotes, and reduce part of the credits.Back on topic: I don't know why, but the Google Web Accelerator seems to work fine now... But it doesn't seem to help a lot. At least not for the sites I go to.
  22. Nice idea! Though if it had intended --and I'm not assuming it is, I'm just stating a fact-- to be ranked above the twin towers in height, it won't, because it's not a residential or commercial building.I don't get the skirts part and the expanding coils part. Could you explain?Herbert, I don't think those would be for personal use... I think it'd support a whole city when it's built.
  23. Heh, I've seen an article about this on howstuffworks while I was doing my project about hurricanes. I got side-tracked and clicked the link and read about these disks. They are really incredible. I haven't seen them being sold before, maybe because I'm in a really small city right now...
  24. Actually, most other hosting sites are not free either... For example, the ones with ads/pop-ups/frames gives you space, but you are actually giving them money by advertising them or their sponsors. There are sites that don't have them, but they are usually really crappy. Downtime and data loss is what you have to pay in order to get the service. This service may consume some of our users' time, but quality hosting is what you get in return!
  25. Wow... That might be fun... Do you know if it'd be frequently updated? Can users upload games?BTW, the registration form doesn't work... The Security Code Confirmation part never loads the image.
