Using Copyrighted Music Is it illegal?
szupie replied to szupie's topic in Websites and Web Designing
So, if I use every song in an album, but only use less than 10% or 30 seconds of each song, and use it in a course, that would be completely legal? What if I use the 10%/30sec of a song over and over again in the movie? When you say "non-profit, 'educational' situations", do you mean it has to be both? Can it be just non-profit, but not educational? Oh, and vizskywalker, I didn't mean putting it on my site. I meant putting it on a site like Newgrounds (Oh no, the advertisement I have tried to avoid in my previous post!!!). -
Using Copyrighted Music Is it illegal?
szupie replied to szupie's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, I mean putting it online on a gallery-like place, where people submit their animations. It would be publicly accessible. -
When you make a short movie and put in the movie some music that you bought, is that considered illegal? If you're not making any money from it or using it in a business, but just put it online for entertainment, would it violate the copyright of the music? Do you have to get or buy a special license from the artist?

Animation? Making words move?
szupie replied to webdesignunlimited's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, you could use the annoying marquee tag on your text. That could make them scroll horizontally or vertically, going in any direction you want. It's easy to do that if you have FrontPage. -
Yeah, I've just heard about it today. I tested it out, but, in my opinion, Google Reader isn't that great. It's layout either doesn't work in Firefox, or is just plainly bad looking. Most of Google's tools have the great simplistic and light look, but Google Reader looks like a webpage designed by a web "noob" who puts whatever he/she thinks is cool onto a page. Also, I don't like how it doesn't work together with other of Google's services, like Personalized Homepage or Gmail.Oh, and the "tour" that it provided. It was REEAALLY brief, and it didn't really help me understand how it works.I guess Google Reader may have came out too early... It should be improved more before it is released.

Crediting Your Photos Is there a certain software?
szupie replied to cyborgxxi's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I think there's this Actions tool in Photoshop that lets you do a process over and over again automatically. It's in the Action tab. I don't have Photoshop on this computer, so this is just from my memory, and might be wrong:1. Create a new action.2. Click the Record button. Everything you do from now on will be recorded, so make sure that you do them right.3. Use the text tool to create a new label thing at the bottom corner, change it to blue, Arial, 12pt, and type in the text you want.4. Click the stop button. Now that you have set/recorded the action, you can use the action. Open your photo, and chose your action, then click on the play button. It should start applying the steps onto your photo. If the label is in the wrong place, just drag it into the correct spot.Again, these are from my memory, and they might be wrong, but that's the basic idea of what to do. -
Well, this would be a good thing, but the reason they are not doing this, I think, is that it is too expensive. Even if it is only more costly by a few dollars, the stores will not replace all of their machines with fingerprint pads. If some major credit card company decides to start using fingerprint technology, and sponsors another major store to buy fingerprint pads, then we might get to use the technology. But I think there's a problem with fingerprints: If you get burnt or get a huge cut on your finger, wouldn't it affect the print? What if your entire thumb got chopped off? They should use both signing and fingerprint-ing machines to avoid problems.

Yes, it's kinda like a zip file, but I don't think it compresses much. A floppy disk doesn't zip up the files inside, that's why you don't need a "floppy burner" program to put files in a floppy. But, you need to zip up files before you put it inside a CD, using programs like Nero, Windows Explorer, Magic ISO, etc.

I think Firefox is better, but I've noticed something: It takes up a lot of memory when I come to Xisto. When I leave multiple tabs of this forum open, my computer starts getting noisy and slow. Could cookies be one of the cause?I've never tried it with Internet Explorer, though, so I don't know if it's slow with it too.

Heh, that's pretty funny... You can also get the same effect by clicking on the first search result.I wonder if Google did that on purpose. Michael Moore is also another result (The second one) on the search.

I like the ps2, so I think I will stick to the PS3 (If I could get it). I like the ps2 controller, I think it's the easiest to use. Also, I don't know why people say xbox has the best graphics. I don't think there is much difference, though I've only seen one game on xbox: halo.I want to try out the Revolution too. I want to see how good their controller is.

How Search Engines Operate answering your questions
szupie replied to iGuest's topic in Search Engines
Spiders are hosted on the search engine. Search engines go to a website, checks out all the links it contains, and indexes all the valid links. It's like looking through a family tree and gathering information about each of the children. If there is no website linking to you, the spiders will not find you, because they do not know of your existence. You can put a file called spider.txt on the root of your site to prevent spiders from going to your site or limit their actions. -
Intelligent Soccer Ball Finally an intelligent ball in soccer
szupie replied to andrwxsCOL's topic in Science and Technology
I thought they can use cameras to tell whether the ball crosses the line. They could use the film footage to check it. I guess I was wrong. -
Well, you can put your javascript in your html, inside the script tag like this: Make sure that is placed in the head. And for the CSS, you can put them like this: , also in the head area. And yes, he meant to put all the pages in one file, and use javascript to show and hide them. For example, when people go to your home, they would go to index.htm, and javascript will show only the "home" portion, while hiding all the other portions of the page. When they go to, say, an "about" page, they would not go to a new page, but instead, javascript will hide the "home" portion, and show the "about" portion only. If your pages are really large, it would take a long time to load everything on just the index page. But if all of your pages are really small and you have only a few pages, that idea could be used.

Intelligent Soccer Ball Finally an intelligent ball in soccer
szupie replied to andrwxsCOL's topic in Science and Technology
Um, did you use a translator to translate this to English? I cannot understand what you are saying...I'm guessing that they made a ball that can tell whether it went out-of-bounds or not? Is that correct? -
Why don't you like how they designed it?You've tried using the controller? Where did you do that?

Signature Borders How do you make em
szupie replied to cyborgxxi's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Do you have Photoshop? If you do, you can draw a border on using the brush tool. If you don't have Photoshop but have MS Paint, you can use the box tool and make a really crappy and plain border. It depends on what kind of border you want. -
Do you use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or what? OR do you download with a specific software? And what Internet connection do you have? You need to give more details...

Wow... This is like the beginning of virtual reality video games at home...The controller design is great. You can hold it one way and play it like the original, hold it another way and you can use it like a gun or sword. I've seen a controller like this once, when I was on a plane that lets you play video games with the screen on the chair in front of you. The controller was really flat, though, so it didn't let me get a good grip. The Revolution controller might be better, since it's more... Unflat. I wonder how much it will be.

Wow, looks really good. The color schemes and graphics are more attractive than gmail, but I dunno about its functionality. I wonder if it is only for Internet Explorer... Can users request the interface, or is it randomly picked only?

What's the main difference about the ragdolls between this program and other major 3d programs? Are the dummies premade and the physics preset?

Windows Live Cd And its an MS-free project
szupie replied to rantsh's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Wow, Windows on a 256 MB flash drive? I didn't know it could be that compact. Though, I think you can only install a few basic programs on it, so it'd be pretty crippled. Would a USB 1 be quick enought to run Windows? It'd be annoying using an OS that lags a lot. -
Assign Keyword To Firefox Bookmarks just type a word in addressbar
szupie replied to soleimanian's topic in Software
Wow, I didn't know about that before... Where did you find out about that? Is there any more similar functions like that?
