Favorite meal huh? Well i'd have to go with fried chicken cutlets with spaghetti. My mom makes the best angel hair pasta, with amazing sauce, and fried chicken. Simple breaded cutlets fried in oil and added with spaghetti. That is one of my favorite meals just because of the taste. Also gotta go with barbecued chicken, and even maybe an obscure reference - Captain Crunch breaded chicken. I got it once at Planet Hollywood when I was a child. Chicken fingers that (instead of bread crumbs) were covered in crushed up Cap'n Crunch. It was amazing. Definitely worth trying to find.

Red Sox Are World Series Champions Once Again
itrainmonkeys replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion
The only reason I don't enjoy them winning is because one of my house-mates is a HUMONGOUS fan. Like ridiculously big. He's a huge boston fan and we live in New York. He drives everyone nuts with his sports obsession but anyway, that's besides the point. I"m not a huge baseball fan. I don't care much for it. That's just me. It's nice to see them break the curse in '03, but I could care less who the champs are. If I had to choose I woulda liked to seen the Mets make it.....but that turned sour. So congrats to the Sox.....tho I don't really care -
Kurt Vonnegut So i'm reading Kurt Vonnegut's book, "Timequake" and I just really wanted to know what all of you thought about the weird author? Have any of you read his novels? They really intrigue me because of his critique of society and the everyday things we do. I look at him as an observer. Almost like George Carlin but of the written word. Anyway I really......REALLY enjoyed the book "Cat's Cradle" which says a lot about people, religion, war, government. It's all pretty wild when reading it. So the point of this thread is to discuss: 1.) Have you read any Kurt Vonnegut novels? 2.) What are your favorite Vonnegut books? (i'm looking for recommendations) 3.) Do you know of any similar authors/styles of books?

I read a lot of Stephen King's "Nightmares and Dreamscapes". Not the whole thing but a lot of the stories. I have to re-rent it from the library in order to finish up the rest of them. Originally I was interested because I saw the television show but also I was looking for something to read while I was at work. Anyway, it was really interesting. A lot of totally different types of stories being told, and not all of them horror (which I had pigeon-holed King as since I hadn't known all his work). I really enjoyed "Dolan's Cadillac" and "Chattery Teeth". "Chattery Teeth" was about this guy (Bill Hogan) that picks up a set of those novelty chomping teeth we've all seen over the years. Only these teeth are big and metal. He then leaves and picks up a hitchhiker who plans on robbing poor Bill. Stuff happens and in the end the teeth brutally murder the dangerous stranger."Popsy" was a story that was a bit too weird for me. Something about kidnapping kids and then a flying grandfather/bird type creature. Maybe I didn't get it. Anyway.......that was the last (partial) book I've read.Anyone got any Stephen King recommendations?

Thanks for the topic and info guys. This stuff has been really helpful for when I plan on buying my next computer. I just got one with a ton of memory and space, but still didn't know what a lot of the numbers mean. This will be good for when I want to get one focused on just video editing and media production. Thanks again.

Which Classic Book Is Your Favorite?
itrainmonkeys replied to james2002's topic in General Discussion
Good question. I konw they've had the topic of favorite book but I didn't even begin to think about classic books. I guess you could say that my favorite classic book is to kill a mockingbird. It's just an amazing story that really stood out to me. I enjoyed it a lot and learned a ton of stuff about racism and unfairness. The characters were all playing this book out in my mind as I read. Really good book.....good movie too. I don't know if it counts but what about "Lord of the Flies"? That's a classic IMO and definitely shows a lot about society and personal behaviors. The idea of kids living alone on an island trying to make the perfect community is such an odd one.....but it's so entertaining. It definitely reflects problems in normal day societies. -
Honestly.....its tough to say. Obviously everyone has a chance. There's got to be someone of the opposite sex out there for you. Some guys are ugly and they have a better chance with an uglier girl. But it's all in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone will think the same person is ugly.A lot of people will, however, agree if a person is fat. Sometimes theres a limit to the amount of pounds I like in a girl. I don't mind chunkier women......especially if they still look good. But when you start hanging out of your shirts and getting really wide.....personally I don't go for it.So yes there's a chance.......just a slim one.

What's The Hottest Place You Have Been To?
itrainmonkeys replied to assassin9110's topic in General Discussion
Tennessee. I went down there the last three years in a row for a music festival (Bonnaroo) and it's the hottest place i've ever been. It was somewhere near Knoxville and this last summer there was a drought. The heat was too much, the sun was beating down. I got sunburn within the first few hours of being there and felt like I was going to pass out.Second would have to be Florida. Definitely hot but I wasn't forced to bake in the sun like at Tennessee -
Lazy Posters My Vent for comments for Lazy forum posters
itrainmonkeys replied to chaosdesign's topic in The Vent
I tend to consider myself pretty lazy. Not to the point that the OP stated where I don't read what's in the thread and just post. I don't look at the title and try to fill up my credits. I always try to read what the others have to say and yea I click on the links to go to the pages. Would I be doing all of this if I didn't want to save my hosted site (which I am not even using btw.....i'm so busy).....probably not. But it can get annoying when guys say the same thing thats already been posted just because they haven't read the rest of the thread. -
Mood Car What will they think of next?
itrainmonkeys replied to TypoMage's topic in Science and Technology
I Don't know about this. If it's real then it's kind of a dumb idea. What's the point? People know when they are mad or something like that. It seems like all the different lights in theh care would serve more as a distraction than an aid. I wouldn't want one of these cars. -
We've been studying web 2.0 in class lately. I've actually led a discussion on the topic. Web 2.0 is all about collaboration. Working together for the common goal. It's like.....Linux. Take Linux for example. An operating system is made and freely distributed. Anybody can use it AND anybody can update/improve it. The only catch is that they share the information on how to improve it with everyone else. By working together we get a lot more done. So web 2.0 is like Facebook and Flickr.com and other sites that are built and maintained on mass collaboration.Think about youtube.com. It gives you the tools to display videos and stuff like that......but wouldn't survive without the work of the people. Without sharing of information and collaborating ideas, it wouldn't last. It's run by the people. So basically web 2.0 is hard to define.....but it's all about working together. Wikipedia is a web 2.0 site. MySpace is a web 2.0 site. Anything that is helped improved by the masses can be considered web 2.0

It's amazing how many companies are starting to venture into the online world. I knwo many corporations have websites and do business online.....but now with these web 2.0 applications we are seeing a new world open up. Microsoft Online is doing what they need to in order to keep up with the trends. I believe Google Docs was going to blow them out of the water by making it much easier to upload, transfer, work on, and display documents, spreadsheets, charts...etc. It's a smart move and Microsoft knows what they're doing.

I used to really enjoy Garfiled when I was younger. I'd read him every week. But as I got older I started to like the others better. Guys like Dilbert, and the boondocks. I'd definitely have to say my favorite nowadays are the boondocks. They are so funny and really get points across without pulling any punches. The author of that strip knows what he's talking about. I love the show they have too.So I guess i'd have to say Boondocks.

I definitely believe that there are other universes out there. IT's almost ignorant to think that the possibility isn't there. It's sometihng that people have said for quite a while but its still kinda hard to travel to alternate places (even if we find them). So yes I believe so and although I haven't heard the theory on the big bang being two universes colliding.....I like it. It seems like it could make sense, and even tho I don't know the truth.....I'd say that's kinda believable.

Peer-to-peer An article I wrote for my college mag
itrainmonkeys replied to angad619's topic in General Discussion
This was a well written article with a lot of good information. While I usually am a fan of peer-to-peer networks....i'm also starting to see a change in the trends. We learned a lot about web 2.0 in one of my classes for college. Basically the whole idea of web 2.0 is sharing and collaboration. In a simple way - peer production. Using resources that we all have and working together for a common goal. Facebook, Myspace, Youtube.......they all require peer-to-peer production. People make those sites and without the work they put in we wouldn't have them. Think about the new Facebook applications. Anyone can make any type of application and have it used worldwide. It's a way for the overall product to get better while using all the available resources. The comparisons we got in class for peer production and collaboration were about Goldcorp Drilling and Linux. With Goldcorp.....this fledgling drilling company.....they needed a new way to find the stuff they were looking for (oil i believe). So what the CEO of Goldcorp did was completely reveal all the information they have. All the drilling locations they've been to.....what they're looking for......etc. IT was really a mind-blowing concept in the business world where a company's secrets are usually held close to their hearts and not released to people. But Goldcorp released the info, and asked for help. They said "Give us your ideas" and people responded. A ton of people had great ideas and different ways to figure this stuff out that Goldcorp had never thought of. They went from 100 million dollar company to a 9 billion dollar juggernaut.Linux is the same thing. In case you don't know what it is.........it's an Operating System that was built and is maintained on the idea of collaboration. It's open source so you can change stuff to make it better......but only if you share your ideas with everyone else. It's amazing and peer-to-peer really is the wave of the future. Get on or get lost.........it's going to be big. -
What's Your Favorite Kind Of Pet? Tell me :P
itrainmonkeys replied to Thorn's topic in Home & Garden
Definitely gotta go with Dog on this one. That's just personal preference tho. I mean i've had dogs, lizards, fish, and i've been around plenty of cats, snakes, rabbits throughout my life and i've always gone back to dogs. I love them. I've got two right now, small little guys who are really funny to watch....a little annoying at times but they are just animals. Dogs it is. -
Last book I read - Chronicles vol. 1 - by Bob Dylan It was amazing. I'm a huge music and bob dylan fan and readin the book he wrote was really something special. He really is an extraoridnary character and knows how to arrange his words so beautifully. I suggest anyone to read it. He talks about different times in his life like signing his recording contract, playing in the cafe's and other places in New York when he was young.......recording albums and being on tour. It's quite a good read. Book I'm reading now and almost finished with : Choke by Chuck Palahniuk It's quite an interesting novel. I've yet to read "Fight Club" , a different book by the same author, but I intend to. I got this book because I read about the plans to adapt it to a movie and I wanted to read it before that came out. The movie stars Sam Rockwell who I'm a fan of so I can't wait to see it. The book is about a guy who fakes choking at restaurants to make a type of connection to someone. That way when they keep in touch through cards and stuff he can say he's not doing so well and ask for money and other stuff. Also in the book is his crazy mother who's dying in a hospital, his friend who collects rocks for no reason at first........and the main character is a sex addict. He constantly is having wild thoughts and sexual encounters with people throughout. It's pretty out there. It's good tho. Check it out.

It's not a great primary job but it probably could be good to bring in some cash on the side. I originally wanted to get into web design as my profession but realized that I could get farther knowing other things while also knowing HTML, CSS, etc... So I started taking production classes at my college for my New Communication Media major. We've worked with video and audio production tools like Final Cut Pro and Pro tools (audio editing). I'd like to hopefully get in to some type of production job and use my HTML skills on the side or possibly in my job.

While I do agree with some that both have positives and negatives....my preferred graphics engine is Photoshop. Simply put....i've been using it for so long and i'm just more used to it. I've been designing and messing with graphics for almost 8 years now and i'm a photoshop junkie through and through. I started off with Jasc Paint Shop Pro back in the day. I didn't have enough money for Photoshop but could afford Paint Shop. Eventually I was able to get a copy of Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and I went to work. I used it for a while and still use it to this day. Fireworks.....i've used for little things and learned basic stuff in claseses at school, but i'm just not used to it and I prefer Photoshop.

Whats Important To You When Designing Your Web?
itrainmonkeys replied to Ninkul's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm a little like the OP on this one. I like simple designs, pretty graphical, but nothing too crazy. I usually use Photoshop to design my main layout and then code it from there and see waht happens. When i'm designing I usually listen to some music or something....get me focused ya know? I've been known to design while a little stoned but that's hit or miss. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not lol. So yea I like pretty basic stuff for now. Haven't gotten too far in terms of glash designing and stuff so I try to keep my stuff simple and easily loadable. -
That's not a bad idea. The best way to get in shape is steady exercise and a goo ddiet. The running will help immensely. It keeps you healthy and it's something taht you can notice a difference in. It's also good to work out....even if it's light weights. Just getting some action going will definitely help keep pounds off.

I'm not really against needles. They don't really cause me to freak out and i've never felt really scared by them. That doesn't mean i'm a big fan and enjoy the feeling......just that they don't cause me to go crazy. I'm sure I could get a tattoo and have gotten shots in the past few years taht don't bother so much. Things could always be much worse. I was a little nervous when I was younger but was just taught that it's not too horrible. Funny story......my sister...when she was a little younger....had a problem with tongue depressors. Like they were needles to her. She would get freaked out and hated when they would make her cough with the little stick. It usually took 2 or 3 nurses and the doctor and my mother to hold her down and she'd be kicking and screaming. I never felt that way abotu many things.....jsut didn't like the needles particularly. I had to give al ot of blood during some health scares so I guess I got used to them.

I don't usually enjoy going to threads and seeing that I'm going to die and it's all my fault. I'm not really sure what to believe without much proof to my eyes. Is global warming real? Is it not? I'm not really sure. I've seen evidence coming from both sides about the proof of existance. We'll see what happens and I'm sure I won't have to deal with it in my lifetime.......at least I hope not.

I don't play but I used to and have had a lot of fun. It's pretty crazy and intense to play such a game. I've enjoyed the hunting out your enemies (in game of course) and attatcking. The paintballs hurt a lot when hit on certain areas. We used to have to put on a ton of clothes, like a few pairs of sweat shirts, a couple pairs of pants. Definitely hemet and goggles. The hiding in the woods was fun and we used to also build up forts. Like putting big wood walls up to hide behind and shoot out of certain areas.Definitely a fun game but haven't played in quite a while.
