  1. Adsense is CPC program. And it is at the top when it comes to CPC adnetwork comparison. There are alternative to adsense but not better than adsense. Yahoo publisher network is alternative to adsense but it is restrictive to some countries as of now. Microsoft publisher network has cpc/cpm programs but payout isn't that impressive. If you wan to try alternative to adsense then some ad-networks i can suggest you. Adbrite- This works same like adsense. But sometimes if there are no ads in their queue then they show adult ads. Not on every blog but atleast on blogs with limited content. Some advertisers in adbrite opt for CPM model and if you've more traffic then you'll able to fetch some money from it. Otherwise for limited traffic you're restricted fo CPC model. and not much you'll earn from it. Reason, ad-block plus extension disables adbriet as well. So very few people click on adsense/adbrite ads these days. Adonion- This is also a good network. Here, ads are available based on CPC/CPM/CPA model. So in marketplace of adonion you've to request respective sponsors with your choice of banner ads. payout is dependent on performance. Don't expect much from this network. It is new and growing. Project wonderful- this is not cpc or cpa. But this is pay per day model from project wonderful. Advertisers purchase ads from you based on your site's traffic and performance. If your site have more than 30 articles/pages and have decent traffic say about 1k per month. Then you can expect to get traffic from it. Ad-networks to avoid on blog. Kontera, infolinks, bidclix etc. Kontera and infolinx make your blog looks ugly. and payout of kontera is based on quarterly performance. If you unable to make money of 100$ check then your cash is not forwarded to next month. So avoid kontera.
  2. Some of the animes that i’ve seen so far. Full metal alchemist - Simply, super anime and story. Worth to check out. Nauruto – I didn’t like the story plot and character development. Some characters are just for show-off and they don’t contribute to plot in any way. Fight and effects are cool. Filler episodes are more boring than main theme. Though Nauruto is popular and voted by many people as best anime. My opinion is different, i didn’t enjoy it. One piece- Plot is good. Little bit stretched sometimes. Action scene and sound effects are good. Character development is good as well. Story moves progressively and fillers are not that boring. It’s overall good anime. Bleach- I’m fan of this anime. Character development is superb in this anime. Manga and anime both are worth to keep track of. Villain characters in anime are more popular and are voted higher than the hero characters. Plot of almost every arc is cool, except bount arc. It wasn’t impressive enough to spend time. Amagai shouske arc was also good but ended pretty fast. I was expecting more in that arc, but anyway. Current filler arc is zampktou arc which is going on air right now. Excellent plot and i’m expecting more fun and action in this arc. Mushi shi- This is calm, simple mysterious, supernatural story based anime. Story is about insects mushi and the guy who studies them ginko. It’s story of his journey to find more mushi and how to work with balance between mushi presence and humans. Cool anime. Nothing useless, vulgar, sarcasm in it. Just plain simple supernatural anime. I like this anime, it’s bit relaxing to brain. Death Note- Whole world enjoyed this anime cause of story in it. Some said it shouldn’t have to stretch this much, some say whatever shown is justifying the plot. There are two separate endings to this anime. Separate one is called directors cut. I’ll not break the suspense so here so i suggest you to watch this on your own. Jigoku shoujo- This anime has different theme. Story changes with every episode and character development of some typical characters in all episodes is very good. If i start to reveal about it it’ll break the suspense, so i’ll leave that for now. Enjoy hell girl’s anime, i’m sure you’ll love it. There are more animes which are worth to watch: - Monster - De-gray man - Requiem from darkness and list goes on.. I’m in search of horror, supernatural and thriller animes. So some of my suggestions are like that. If you know any this category. Do suggest more in those category to me.
  3. Anything from microsoft is secure ? No doubt, the MSE will have it's own security patches and bugs. Almost any product of MS comes with critical security flaws these days. Take any software like IE8, Word 2007 and more you'll find those products have their own security issue. Microsoft is just patching them every quarter.I would like to test it though. Not sure if this product in future will run on windows xp. After 2010, releases will be only for vista and future editions of windows. And i heard rumor that this antivirus is as good as AVG free edition which was distributed for free earlier. There was also antispyware project from microsoft, but no idea what happened to that. Maybe they'll merge these two projects together.
  4. Can you explain those security issues. If you found any issue related to ubuntu that you think needs to be patched feel free to report it on Launchpad. That way it will ubuntu to stay up with the security issues. Members will benefit from it as well.
  5. @Brasil, modifying installation of antivirus, antispyware softwares is considered under "reverse engineer illegal case". So i don't think you'll get that help on most of the forums. But if you're interested in CCleaner or similar freeware stuff for installation modification then you can ask respective freeware authors. They'll surely help you in case of silent installation. Also if you're interested in silent installation without nags for software like antivirus/spyware then why not ask those companies for help ? These companies have such custom network/offline installers that one can do to perform unattended installation. Atleast NOD32, Mcafee, Kaspersky do have such enterprise unattended installation support.
  6. Completed "Pragmatic programmer". Highly recommended for those who are into programming. There are also other books on "Pragmatic" series. But i'll settle for this one for now. Also completed ayn rand's "The fountainhead". After reading it i found out why there are so many fans of ayn rand. Though i'm not her fan even after reading this. Next book i'm going to read is : "The lost symbol" by dan brown. Another one is "Six thinking hats" by edward de bono. I'm planning to read the second one cause i'm more interested in lateral thinking. So i guess i'll pick edward de bono's book for now. I'll update after completing reading.
  7. Ever since linux started many groups and enterprise companies came up with their own business and distribution model for distros. This way the the type of customers they've created around their distribution. Red hat, Debian, Slackware, gentoo has their own ways of managing packages, repository and community, support and development. This way each distribution is different and unique in their own ways. Also the distribution evolved cause of many such parameters and you'll find each linux distribution community different. For example, Knoppix and Gnoppix were created for LiveCD and as resort for rescue disk. But later it git evolved and many dedicated users for knoppix made this project more succesful. The idea of liveCD was very popular among linux and other OS market. Almost every OS started their LiveCD project because of this. Another example is take a look at how complexity is there in debian community. How community is maintained, how packages in repository are requested etc. When some people found complexity in such popular distros, they started small groups to simplify things. Ubuntu and some other forks of debian born this way. Multiple distribution helps to solve things fast. It also allows newcomers in linux to pick easy distro for themselves. Gives chance to developers to pick multiple communities to contribute their code. Multiple distribution also solves bug issues, for example some forks of debian commit bug fixed directly to debian. This way Multiple distribution though cause confusion for beginners are excellent way to get things done and moving.
  8. Bing will take over google is just hype created by microsoft. Search results are poor and in no way comparable with google. I don't know what algorithm they use. But most of the searched for which only google responds, bing fails to give results. Now i don't want to mention those keywords in this forum. But if you're using search engine to check performance of your site, you'll come to know what i mean. Bing has no importance for search queries which involves market criticism, analysis etc. Try getting results for anti-microsoft sites, you'll see the difference. Bing also has no place for warez world, very limited results . But good thing is atleast they're not listing keyword hijacking sites. Bing is such useless search engine, it's not even worth for file search. Forget about it's comparison with google.Bing can't beat search engines like yauba and cuil when it comes to file search. Finding pdf,ppt from the bing search is such that finding something in register which is not registered. Very poor search engine just MSN live is branded as Bing and nothing else. If i've to move from google then i'll look for file searching sites instead of bing. Atleast i'll get what i'm looking for.
  9. As discussed earlier in this thread, SQLite is one good database to work with for embedded database. Other than i can suggest few more to you, if you want to try them out. Some of the Embedded database work for both web/desktop based applications. And those database even have wrappers for multiple programing languages. Most of the popular languages are supported by the database i'm mentioning here. So here is my view about those databases. HSQLDB, is embedded database which is preferred by most of the java developers. It supports desktop as well as web applications. It is written for and in java. It is compatible with 1.x branch of JDK. Batch and scrollable result-set functionality is fully supported. But it comes with a price of more footprint than SQLite. HSQLDB also supports free java runtime like Kaffe. Database engine is just 600kb, which is larger than sqlite but still small enough to be qualified for embedded applications. H2 database has less footprint than HSQLDB. But it is more than SQLite. It also supports most of the JDK versions and JDBC interface support with batch and scrollable functionality is also supported. So if you want to choose between H2 and then H2 is good choice. To be precise, HSQLDB and H2 are perfect for java development. They can be used with C++ and other languages as well. H2 database is more suitable for web development. It comes with web server and console examples. Other than that both these database support CSV read and write access. Apache Derby which is also included with JDK & Netbeans is also one good alternative as it comes with software. You don't have to download, and if needed recent versions of it can be downloaded from Netbeans. Other than this both MySQL and PostgreSQL can be used to for embedded applications.
  10. I've seen similar question on Xisto - Support site. You can take a look at it here. To make it short, let me sum it up this way. As per that answer, Xisto - Web Hosting servers are located in California. So as per pacific timezone, California is GMT-8hrs. For DST timings, it's GMT-7hrs. Hope this helps.
  11. You don't get it, you're not clear with the view of EE. You're looking for literal meaning and strict implementation of EE i.e. Enterprise edition. Java EE is intended for Web development. So it doesn't matter whether you build commercial or non-commercial applications. There is no marketing ploy in EE. Just because something is named as Enterprise doesn't restrict itself from building non-enterprise sites. I hope it's clear to you now.
  12. Those are the landing pages which are mostly from subdomains or pages in navigation. For some sites i've seen google creates it on it's own. Based on it's algorithm and traffic to some links. Most visited landing pages on google are likely to be shown like that. Another way is uploading sitemap of your blog or site. Google decides the most visited landing pages (that is pages from your navigation menu or subdomains if you don't understand). Here, google is not taking most visited posts in blog. So don't get confused with it. So you've to create sitemap and let google index it. Once index is created it'll update in search results when it hits your keyword and if you rank high. For ranking high, you've to bid on the keyword. Some keywords can't be bidded as they redirect to websites which are for that keyword. For example, searching for "FreeBSD" will not give you result user blog in first 2 results numbers. It'll be official site and it's network or sister projects in one or two search results. So you've to be authority to own keyword without any competition from other sites. Which is less likely to be possible. Some scam sites and made for search engines site do overpower. So you've to be authority so that google can rank higher. So right now i can recommend you to build a sitemap that google can read and index. For more help you can ask for some SEO advice to members of Digital forum, these people can guide you with this.
  13. Age doesn't matter. Do you have friends because of their age ? No. Do you love someone because of their age ? No. But if you answer yes to these questions. You're just another social-trend follower. You better feel good about yourself by following rules of society and start caring about what society and your peers think. Else follow what you think and then decide age really matters ?. We're not in friendship or in love as per guidelines of society. If anybody is doing that then they're bunch of sheeps following sheepdog. So better decide for yourself when it comes to point of age.
  14. @Spencer, i'm going to try the greasemonkey script for a way to handle multiple gmail account. As i've multiple domains on google apps. This tip i was talking about. I'll try this one as i think greasemonkey one is good trick to work with multiple domains. Also your suggestion of getting email to master address sounds great. It can solve many problems but i was unsure about saving messages as they arrive. I have no idea how google will sort that out on master email address. Let me give it a try and see if it works. About latitude feature, they have option about not to show the location. But i doubt google privacy. Also is it possible that our IP address is visible from gtalk ? or any chat client which makes use of gtalk API ? like Ebuddy, meebo ? Is it possible ? Why i'm asking this is because i've seen people snooping via orkut with help of this feature. And i expect privacy in social network, IM etc. Why there is security issue like display or retrieval of IP address ? I'll find that out by asking on superuser site and on google forums. I'll update on Xisto if i find way to keep privacy with gtalk and orkut.
  15. I'm trying it these days. I heard that it might work with some new blogs. I don't know how to get out of this system,so asking others what they think. There are plenty of reviews about entrecard. But most of the reviews are either mixed or negative cause they are tried by high traffic sites. I'm of opinion that widgets like myblog, google social toolbar and entrecard are not suitable for high traffic but for new and growing sites. Let's see how many T17 members tried it or want to try it to increase their traffic. I'm open to hear suggestion for increasing traffic and widget usage for that purpose. In this post of pureblogging, i've found a bit of mixed review. And some of the points are positive.
  16. I found entrecard widget box on most of the blogs. Bloggers are using this widget to drive traffic to their blogs. It works something like this: You signup with your website details and then copy entrecard code on you blog. It?ll show 125x125 banner on site. Or the size you?ve chosen for yourself. Now it?s time to earn entrecard credits. To earn credits you?ve to go to campaign area. In this area you?ll find many blogs categorized as per niche. You?ve to visit those blogs and click on drop link of the widget hosted on these blogs. For each drop click you?ll get entrecard credits. You can use entrecard credits to advertise your site on another site. Or you can use entrecard credits to buy traffic for yourself. These credits are transferable so you can give out these credits to other website. They can use it for buying traffic for their site. Initially you need 16 credits to get advertisement on widgetbox. This is good system for new blogs and for blogs which have lower traffic. But there are also few issues with it. Some of the issues i?ve noticed are :1. It is very slow process to earn entrecredits as it requires browsing lot of blogs to earn them. 2. You can buy entrecredits but if you?re on low cash then this is problem for you.3. Many entrecard users cheat the system by removing widget, so others simply visit their site but unable click on drop button.4. Entrecard has lot of poor blogs which are not good to trade traffic with. Anyway, these are my observations. If you?ve experience with this, then do post about it here. Also anybody knows alternative to entrecard ? ( Except mybloglog, google scoial toolbar ).
  17. I don't think it's OS issue. Cause some people have it on firefox, chrome as well and are using windows. Also some people here are reporting forums being slow for them. But it is not same for all of us. For some people everything is working just fine and for some having logging and forum slowing down problem. I think this is issue with IPB than server, OS or connection. We've to ask opaque about this, let' see if admin can find out what is going on with forums.
  18. Thanks for the tips. I was unaware of some tips. Like managing multiple accounts. This is great tip. Though my multiple accounts are on different domains. I have to try it to see if it works or not. Is it possible to manage multiple accounts on google apps domain ? If this works this will help me fast access mail from multiple domains i registered with google apps. Let me know if it's possible. I liked that multiple instances of gtalk tips. This is good especially in case when my brother and i want to stay logged in at the same time. Also google launched their latitude feature which makes it visible for your friends to see where you are. Is it possible to disable such a tracing ? Also if this is possible then logging the IP from Gtalk could be possible as well. If so, how to keep the privacy ? Any idea or ways to work around this ?
  19. Now i'm interested in it. How to bring traffic for bukisa ? Twitter is too typical and it's not bringing traffic anymore. Entrecard could be one option but can't use that for community sites account. You've any idea about bringing traffic to accounts on bukisa ? And what's minimum one could earn with such system ? By the way, i heard that it's based on page views, right ?
  20. No. Gmail does show text ads at the top of your email header. If you can see the inbox buttons. There is text-link strip which can be scrolled next/previous with buttons. That strip is Google Ads. Those ads are noticeable for most of us while some people just look at their email. That's why many people failed to notice that there are text-link ads on gmail. One good thing of gmail in comparison to yahoo and hotmail is they don't have huge banner ads. Yahoo has 300x250 size banner ads sometimes on page. They even post ads of 468x80 when you open any email(this is for classic interface). And for new interface, 125x125 size banner ads are in the sidebar. Which may be invisible for most of the people. But i've .in domain for yahoo and for that version i see some ads on sidebar. Same is the case with hotmail. They show big ads at the top of the mailbox and even show ads sometimes in sidebar. Google here is different as they show ads in text-link format. This way it is only get noticed and clicked by those people who highlight text as they read. For others, it remains un-noticed. But text-link ads do exist in gmail.
  21. That sounds good. As i explained earlier in another forum, my need is with forum theme. I did find scribble theme & portal tan theme for myself. But it was hard to find themes working with MODS like :syntaxhighliter, smftags and ad-management mod. Also working with friend on custom mod. It's good to hear that SMF RC new version will be launched. Is it possible to create my own theme with CSS on SMF ? I mean i'm limited with my knowledge of PHP so asked cause of it. I'll do need to your help getting those MODS working. It's just that i'm waiting for two things: smf new release and second custom mod(which is pending since last month). By the way, new SMF RC is so any preview ?
  22. Fastest internet connection and finding Xisto with slow performance ? I'm using Xisto with 3 different connections 128kbps, 512kbps and 2mbps line. And i didn't noticed any change in performance. Even 128kbps loads TP17 without any trouble, even with some download in the background it loads just fine. I want to ask you about this pruning members idea. Will you apply such method to your forum if it has commercial benefit cause of member content/accounts ? And What makes you so sure that pruning members will speed up forums ? Also what makes you conclude that there is over-usage of CPU and needs to cut it out ? Any technical explanation that made you conclude this ?.
  23. Ad-senseads these days are not performing well for most of the people. Besides ad-blick plus enabled on most of the ad-networks. You can't get clicks on your ads. In such case, CPM based ads could solve your this problem. But to qualify for CPM ads is not easy task. They've very hard criteria for business with publisher. Like publisher needs to have 1k-10k impressions. or even worst 5k visitor mark etc. These things are not easy to achieve. It takes lot of effort and content to get those and it costs a lot as well. So CPM ad networks are not for everybody. Two new alternative in my opinion are : Adonion and Project wonderful. Adonion is CPM/CPM/CPA based ad-network. It allows advertisers to choose any of the format and ask publishers to bid on the sponsors. If sponsors approve it. Then they can run ads using the code generated by adonion. Not much of payout rates if your blog is not targeted on US/Canada traffic. Europe and other do have some rate for ad being shown but rate of CPM/CPC is very low in that case. Project wonderful is also new and it works as CPD. CPD is cost per day. That is advertiser buys your ad-space for few days or even for 1 day. If you've decent traffic then you can earn much from project wonderful. Rates for the ads depend upon the traffic numbers you've. More the traffic, better chances of getting picked up by advertisers. again these two advertisers worked on my site. So that's why it is my opinion that they could work with you. You've to try and test things out for your site. See if things work with you, atleast one of from it will work.
  24. First i'll try to answer to topic. There is no such thing as best language. It's just matter of getting things done. If you're using windows operating system then C# and VB.NET will get you started for GUI that has *.exe extension. I assume that you want to create GUI based .exe programs. In such case, VB.NET and C# is your close and fastest option. C++ is another option and it helps you program cross-platform application. Wxwidgets and QT toolkits make use of C++, so with this you can create .exe based programs on windows. Python and Java both could be used to program and convert it into .exe. But for GUI based programs with *.exe option it is better to choose C# and VB.NET instead of them. Now for your question Python or Java. The choice depends on person. Some find Java easy while some find python. Python is easy and results are immediately visible on interpreter but for java you've to compile program. So python is convenient and easy to learn than java for most newcomers in programming. For learning python, you can use official python IDLE or Komodo Python interpreter. And there are also some good tutorials for python. Hope this helps.
  25. @Spencer, i contacted support few hours ago. and they replied that custom report period is restricted to quarterly reports and they'll consider about earning counter soon. and after reading the review from your link it says that kontera is targetted for high traffic websites. Previous earnings are not calculated and carried ahead. So as per that if it goes 100$ in 6 months then we'll get paid. In that way if our earning didn't make it to 100$ in 6 months then we've to forget about it. So this "Ad revenue sharing" from kontera is failed for me. I'm not going to put them on my site anymore. And i doubt if opaque really got any views out from this mod as per percentage in first page. I doubt about his pageviews going in thousands per day. And yes, ad-type of kontera slows site loading as they embded on keywords in our articles on forums and blogs. They're even bad for visitors. Many other similar ad networks like kontera have same issues of site-loading and turns of visitors. One thing we can do is sign up for alternate ad-network for out blogs atlast, one such similar ad-network is infolinks. I'm not sure if opaque is turning them off for such policies. But let's hope atleast some of from us get paid from kontera.
