I feel sad with their decision. i was the user since 1999, and i joined their network with member groups/webrings etc. I used to have page for their area51 group. the page was about johny quest cartoon. really, missed those web mastering days with HTML . but seriously, this is good decision. as yahoo was facing lot of financial burden as hosting was making very less revenue for them. and serious developers left geocities long time ago. let's say in 2002 perhaps. and good decision is to ask current visitors to either move to other services or upgrade to their own paid hosting plans. but very few will do that actually. as there is very bad reviews floating on the internet about Yahoo's paid hosting and support.Dreamhost found opportunity in this and they created campaign to attract geocities members to dreamhost for free. just have to put promo.html page with content "i'm off to dreamhost". and in signup form you've to point to this url. that will give you hosting for 2 years. really nice deal for geocities users. and excellent marketting strategy from dreamhost.

Well this thread is turning out to be park for spammers. lot of spam and get rich quick scam links are posted here. look at the link "big ticket wealth". it is just another scam site. Design is typical get rich quick scammy look and it is not at all legimate. i don't understand why this thread is not being monitored? newbies are joining just to post scam links here. Coming back to topic, answering query of last non-spam post. pIng your blog regularly when you add content to your site. use services like submit express and pingmyblog for that.

Nice and clean design. Font and color selection is good as well. I like banners with simple looks. and i tried to avoid those hyped flashy banners. they tend to take away the message out instead of being informative, it stucks with look n feel. that's another point though. At the end, good banner. Good luck with your future designs

Windows Live Skydrive is good option for storing things online. But seriously i don;t think it is worth in comparison to amazon S3. though amazon s3 is paid service, it's better as you've control over your data. and if by any chance(like economic) slowdown Microsoft closed service then what will happen to data?this is where paid services like amazon s3 etc are much better than skydrive. earlier yahoo offered briefcase, but soon they shutdown the service and many members lost their files. so if you're serious for backup of your data then either upload it to trustworthy data service or purchase USB/HD. USB/HD come at very cheap rate these days. it only costs 70-80 $ for purchasing maxtor/seagate USB-HDD.In comparison to Microsoft live skydrive, 4shared/reapidshare/mihd/mediashare/ifile services are much better. they allow free hosting to files and you can keep your files private. and as they're getting paid from advertisers so they encourage more public shared quota than private one. so if you've any public files to share like your own software/design/etc then you can take benefit of those free file hosting services.

Interesting concept. I'm in. I'm familiar with web developement. and concept like this is good exercise in terms of skills and management and peer communication. Do let us know more about this. on how to proceed and what other plans you've. Indeed it is interesting idea. But it's sad to see very few are replying to it.

Let me start with my problems with yahoo. First problem is more spam in it. Flash ads slow the browser down. New interface is slow and buggy, not suitable for slow connection. Like when you add attachments to your email then it will definitely take more time than gmail. One more advantage from gmail is that they allow mailbox for organizations . so if you purchase domain from xisto or from any network then you can purchase your domain name and register with gmail to have your own domain's gmail box.Besides that it's just 1GB way less than Gmail 7GB. Video chat is supported as well on gmail which is not supported on yahoo mail. Yahoo mail has option of folders which is also there in gmail with labels and stars. I'm not sure if chat history can be saved in yahoo mail or elsewhere. but gmail allows you to view your chat history in gmail inbox.More and more features we digg when we compare yahoo and gmail. and we'll see pointer moves more towards gmail than yahoo.

I'm sure this is another news like saddam husain got caugth and was sentenced to death. even saddam sent his dummy to get sentenced for the sake of religion. and as far as osama getting caught is concerned, i don't think it is possibility. and pakistan is making out news as they've burdon on 26/11 attacks so they've to make such news and have to show themselves not guilty.so coming up with theories like osama is dead or kashmiri terrorists belongs to soviet/india is nothing but some media stunts from pakistan. on the point of video tapes getting released from osama camps, i'm sure he managed to record terabytes of videos to spread religious terrorism and if by chance he gets killed or found dead to other crew members then they'll just distribute his old tapes in order to continue with their thought of ruling the world under the name of religion. let's hope he gets caught by UN army, as he is responsible for 9/11, 26/11.

I suggest you to join open source project. as it will help open source community and in turn all of us. You'll learn a great deal from it, as you'll hit plenty of walls while programming for open source. if you pick some intermediate level that needs help from programming community then you can learn a lot from it. there are few projects which are suitable for beginners as well. some places where you can find such projects are : github, sourceforge, google code. there are plenty of others but you'll find good projects in these sites. and as you're looking for harder project. you can ask in some open source communities about such hard still worthy project. ask mods about this. but i think it is better to create new thread regarding browser. do mention where you stucked and how you found your way out of this. such pointers help others a lot.

If you need linux for server then Samba/HttpD/Uniform server are good option. you can choose from it. On the point of games, ID softwares games are released for linux as well. there are many other top game developement companies are coming with gaming title for linux. you can ask your questions related to gaming and server in ubuntuforums. You can ask your question over there and some friendly ubuntu users will surely reply to your post.I'm sure some gamers on linux found out about CS. cause i'm not sure about that game but doom/civilization are ported for linux platform.

I must agree with you on that one liner post. but just observe how v3 is working. Let's say you write one liner or two in forums. how much they're contributing to your mycents?the problem is we've very few discussion related topics. most of the topics are either not worth to post even though by posting you could earn mycent. but some topic like theology and advice related makes life on forum stale, as we discuss them every now and then. if we could come up with interesting topic, (depending on general interests than narrower one). we'll find ourselves in discussion without caring for mycent and in process we might earn it as well. but seriously we need some good topics for discussion than same old comparison and ranting threads.

As per my observation, i think if you're writing small posts then yes they're earning less mycents. and if posts are made continuously then they're not contributing to mycents at all. i mean if you post in this topic and in minute or two you post in another thread then observe that how much it might contribute to mycent. my observation is : very low. again it is just my observation, it could be wrong too.

Yes. I hate internet explorer. Why? because of it's immunization towards spyware and scipts . also it has lot of security leaks than any other browser. Mozzila and opera are much better than other browsers. opera tops the chart with their consistent improvements and relevance to standards. Mozzila does require more RAM but it is better browser.Chrome looks good but on slower connection it sucks than any other browser. K-melon is also option if you've slow connection and RAM, instead of Firefox use that.But if you wish to choose between browsers then no matter what IE8 ships choose alternate browsers. like Opera, Firefox or Chrome instead of IE.

It does cost sometime but not in the way you mentioned. some of the ways you mentioned, there we can cut the costs. Here, You used paid software "Acronis "and in fact there are plenty of freeware available as alternative of acronis disk creator. that settles for disk and partitioning. on that point can you tell me, how much you paid for software on windows and linux? i mean by comparison. Also some linux distros also available as free cd which are shipped to your mail for free of cost. for example, ubuntu, mint etc. some of the distors in events and linux user groups meet are available free of cost. and on that point can you tell me windows 7 as free release in future? not only that windows 7 targeted region wise users and discriminated based on continent. so definitely some os services will vary as per these editions and you've to pay for features. now is this thing happens with linux? another point is recognizing some of the devices, so let's clear one point even windows do have problem recognizing some hardware. linux has limited support in case of drivers, and if anyone contributes it becomes available instantly to the rest of the world. so there are few distros where usb devices can be easily recognized while some distros have trouble with it. and let's talk about virtualization software. Do you know Sun's VirtualBox is free? Bochs is also free. in that case why you purchased VMware? I think you took few decisions in a bit hurry.

Some of my favorite distros : Ubuntu, Mepis, Mandriva, Fedora.Mepis is one such distribution with easy learning curve, because of it's community support and loads of software shipped with it. Earlier they shifted to Ubuntu sources, but later they resumed back to debian. Mepis uses KDE as it's default window manager system. I find mepis much better in comparison to kubuntu, as it is loaded with more software than kubuntu.Mandriva was my favorite until i started to use ubuntu to the max. I'm still using mandriva on vmware, though not updated much. and for fedora i can say it is preety good and community support is good as well. My experience with Suse, Linspire is very limited. as i have very limited disk to add more virtual machines on vmware. so i'll test tehm if i get free disk space. Some of my friends use OpenSuse, and i heard evry positive things about that distro.

I installed SMF (Simplemachines forum) for one of my domain. I purchased this domain to host forums especially. and that's why i was looking for forum option. You can ask this question to Adsense support team and tell them in brief about this. One of my friend asked similar question and got reply from the support team. try to be polite in replies and they can even remove the ban as well if they find you not part of problem. One thing you can do is, when you log into adsense from shared computers and the fixed IP regularly then try to install .reg file from adsense support faq. that .reg if installed in windows registry, didn't let adsense server to calculate clicks from that IP. hence saves fraud impression and clicks as well as you can test ads on the computer without any fear of click.Also it is good idea about letting Adsense know from which IP you access adsense account and hence avoid ban for invalid click.

I was never a fan of windows products to being with. Windows Live messenger is buggy. and there are plenty of hacks that you can use to get rid of it. Besides, if you're on RAM 256MB then you'll notice the decrease in speed of your system. If you're in search of Messenger alternative then some of the options are : Digsby, Meebo, Ebuddy, Trutapp, Nimbuzz, Trilian etc. Choose any one out of this.I'm not sure if Live mail allows this or not but Gmail/Yahoo mail allows chat service from within email interface. besides gmail came up with video support few days ago. so if you wish to stay with better service then you can go with gmail/yahpp/aol instead of Live messenger/Live Online mail service.
