I found this review from paul stamatiou an interesting read. It's not available in my country yet. If it comes then i'll be checking it out for sure. I've found many interesting things from that review. Let's see when i get my hands on that account of google voice. There is also one post at lifehacker. It's first look at google voice.More features are added after this review, so you know what things to skip in it. If you're interested in article at lifehacker, here it is.

You didn't mentioned premium or free themes. What you prefer ? paying for themes or free ? In any case you can try wordpress theme gallery. Take a look at this theme, i found this theme suits your requirement. Gonzo daily theme is also based on news and headline type of style. Take a look at Gonzo daily theme. Another theme is star news. This theme is not completely news style but it has 3 column layout. Which you can change and make it to suit your wordpress site. Take a look at star news theme. If you're ready to edit few php files and modify CSS. Then i can recommend you Wp-theme framework. This framework allows you to edit existing template of theme and from which you can create theme that suits your site. Check wp-theme framework. Another alternative to framework is thematic framework. This is also on similar lines of wp-theme framework. Some cool themes are created with thematic framework. Check if you can create something out of it. And i almost forgot there are few newpaper style theme on site called blogohblog.

@Nameless, Before you install Wordpress. Take a look at this tutorial for setting up things for wordpress. In this tutorial leave the XAMPP installation part aside and focus on wordpress installation part. Also LOCALHOST:8888/newstacks/wp-admin/install.php This path looks wrong, i guess HTDOCS folder(as XAMPP have it, name could be different with MAMP) should be there in MAMP where you need to copy wordpress. You don't need to install wordpress under custom newstack folder. And as Apache is installed and shown in error page as you've reported here. That means there is no problem with the MAMP installation. The requested URL /newstacks/ was not found on this server. The issue here is with the wordpress directory not in the accessible folder (htdocs) for MAMP. Take a look at this tutorial. (This tutorial will solve most of your problems related to wordpress installation, so read it). and copy wordpress folder in htdocs, and not in newstack folder. About Coda part, Coda is IDE that lets you edit and work with multiple programming languages. Instead of Coda, you can try Eclipse, textwrangler, textmate,Intype, Netbeans etc. Also i've noticed that you need to learn a bit about the operating system(in this case Mac OS) as well. You can't jump into depth of programming without knowing operating system. You'll likely to hit plenty of walls this way if you don't know about Mac OS. So read few introductory tutorials of mac os. read few tips and tricks of mac os.

I think you're ignoring few things about microsoft. Microsoft is not just OS based company. They have software development department that does software development in search engines, cloud computing, cross platform software development(currently they've only support for mac os and beos/os2 etc), virtualization and grid computing. They literally cover almost every domain in software development. So your perception of Microsoft as OS based company is wrong. They're into search engine development and marketing from last decade. You can say earlier before Google started search services. Before google, MSN search was powered by few companies data like excite,infoseek and some others. They even purchased one search engine company in order to get grip over search engine business and to jump into race of search engines. Earlier results of microsoft's search engines were not based on some rank algorithm but more on keywords and crawled results of multiples search engines either partnered with MSN or owned and operated by MSN. and one more point is you're unaware of yahoo's condition. Yahoo can't get back into market as of now. cause they're losing search customers very rapidly and some of the services of yahoo are shutting down now. So there is no way they can get customers on those services. As of now Yahoo! can't be next google.

Yes. Backups are necessary. Plenty of reasons. Some of them are : your email address getting hacked. Another one is business purpose you want to keep log of your emails. In such cases backup is very important. I find that emails from Xisto - Support or from any online transaction worth to save. I mean they come handy when you've issues with services or support. and i agree with @networkers's point, try to avoid making enemies on social network. This sometimes land you into trouble of account getting hacked. Though most of the social networks can track the offender and can give your id back. But in this hassle you'll lose a lot of sleep and it's not at all comfortable either. I don't know about exact length of secure passwords. But some suggests that 6-8 point passwords are safe. And to be on safe side, never start your passwords from pet's name, book authors name or your name of family person's name. try and mix the character and digit. Make it harder for people to guess. Though sometimes it can't be helped in 8 char passwords as well. In such case, you're put of luck.

@Nameless, i think XAMPP is giving you some trouble on Mac. Why don't you try MAMP ?. and there is youtube and vimeo channel for the installation of MAMP . So you'll be guided with MAMP. I don't know why XAMPP is not working with you. But have to take a look at that. In between only thing i can suggest you is download MAMP and watch installation videos of it. I've given link of both these channels, so you can watch installation guides. See if that works.

I've to agree with Truefusion on some points. Mushi-shi is very calm and interesting anime. It's got great story plot and animation is very simple and attractive. One piece and nauruto are famous but i found them boring on plot and design. @Nameless, I have to disagree with the you on point of productivity of watching animes. I mean there are plenty of things in life that are useless for someone but makes lot of sense to others. Like fashion shows and f1 race are useless for most people cause they think it wastes resources and gains are very less. Even posting on Xisto is not productive for most of people. They'll say to you that instead of wasting this much time why not pay for hosting ? I can understand that some of your friends spend lot of time on anime. But there are plenty of people in this world who spend lot of time watching sports, daily soap opera, music shows, talent hunts. And where is the gain ? Except killing time and entertaining from it i don't feel like having any gain from it. And this is acceptable. there are things in life that you've to do to keep yourself entertained and to keep yourself stress-free. Think of it as stress buster than productivity killer. @Simpleton, i grow up watching animes. Animes like "Dragonballz", "and many others. Some of them are not available for download even. If possible try "bleach", "mushi-shi", "full metal alchemist" and "code geas". But i try to keep watching anime only on weekends, to keep interests in them alive. Watching daily kinda kills the interest IMO.

I don't have MAC right now these days to test this for you. But let me try to help you anyway. Now that you got XAMPP into the applications folder. You've follow this as per tutorial. Type this ino terminal by locating terminal to applications directory. /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/mampp start If you followed this then i guess there should be no problem running XAMPP. If you still have problem then i guess you need to check the XAMPP support. and still the problem persists then i think instead of solving issues of XAMPP on your mac. You should get started with MAMP instead. It'll be easy to install MAMP on mac os than xampp. Check the MAMP out, if you've any questions then ask it on MAMP forums. I found forum quite enough to get answers to your installation issues if you get any.

I'm not sure how you proceeded with installation. BUt this site explains how to install XAMPP and Wordpress on your computer. I don't know which installer you used. "Universal binary" or "Developer package" for Mac OS?. "Developer package" installer is small in size and Universal binary installer is bigger. And one more good thing about binary installer is you can delete the installation if anything goes wrong. No worries about registry file and services settings. I suggest you to follow the tutorial on the website i've mentioned. It explains installation of both wordpress and XAMPP. XAMPP installation on OSX is explained here. Also try this tutorial for installing wordpress on Mac (this covers wordpress installation as well). And by some chances if you find earlier tutorial a bit hard to understand then you can try this tutorial. I doubt that earlier tutorials mentioned here are hard to understand but if you feel so this tutorial is enough to get you started with XAMPP and Wordpress.

Google Voice and Wave are in beta. They'll be available to all the users in world soon. Some features are still restricted to US/Canada users. and yet to be introduced for all the users in the world. From blog of google voice you can see that they're supporting voice mail inbox. Also kept help for newbies on how to get started with google voice. There are more features added to their services like call forward, send and receive SMS etc. Read more on their blog. I'm waiting for their services. Especially Google Wave, cause it offers collaborative environment.

Video chat on all major chat networks ? What that feature got to do with operating system ? They mean support to web camera device ? If so, linux supports almost every web camera out there. If there are few exceptions then they will be supported soon. I don't see why this is under comparison chart in anyway. Besides many IM's on windows as well, don't support file transfer and video chat. What about those ? Oops, now they'll cry that they're not major IM networks ?Authorize support ?. and what is that ? They mean support for distribution ?. I guess then they didn't heard of company like Canonical which survives solely on software development and authorize support for ubuntu linux. Same is the case with linspire,suse, red hat. So i think this is not the point for comparison either. So 2 points they've selected very poorly against comparison with linux. Software compatibility ? Which softwares they're taken into consideration. Major softwares which are common to windows and linux are yet to be ported on linux. So how come they raise this point for software compatibility. Linux indeed supports old software which runs on it's previous version.Windows Live service as comparison point ?. and why will sane users use windows live services ?. People use gmail, yahoo and hotmail just to check mail. and yahoo and google services are used in most of the social networks. Even many forums and chat networks support usage of gmail,yahoo,icq,aol chat services. Why anyone will bother for MSN services ? and Pidgin and some other IM's on linux do support MSN chat, they might miss few features. But i doubt people use IM for those services.

There is already one thread for Lockerz. i think there are 2 threads for Lockerz. One is where one of our forum member can send you invite and another one is just for discussion. I don't know what is the intention of this thread then. Anyway, let me share what happened with me and lockerz invite. I got lockerz invite from one of my friend. and i signed up. after signing up it takes to one page which is blank. and even after loggin out from there and re-logging in. You'll find yourself in same blank page whenever you log-in. This problem is not at all solved for most of the people. Don't know whether it is browser issue or script issue. Or it could be even geographical zone issue, like they aren't opening curtain for international users. So just waiting for my way into the lockerz.

Agree with rvalkass. Linux has this option earlier than windows. KDE and Gnome have text editors which offers transparency features. To dig this history of fancy and transparency effects, OSX started this madness with dock and transparent applications. Later linux developers of most of the window managers like kde, gnome added this into their window managers. There are some applications which allows transparency effects to all the window based applications. Some are free while some are paid. Windowblinds offers transparency add-on. StyleXP also offers transparency to some part of windows shell. If you want to try transparency to all of your windows applications then vitrite utility is perfect for you. You can then make notepad or any other editor transparent. Stnotepad doesn't offer much features for notepad other than being transparent. And 10$ is costly if you see the cost of windows shell enhancement softwares which cost 15$ to 29$.

Fruityloops is the best in the market if you're new to music composing. The basic package of fruityloops starts at 49$ and goes upto 300$. With some of the plugins and additional add-ons will cost extra. Plenty of Flash presentation demo creators are using fruityloops for drumloops and effects, sounds. It is easy to use, and you can get started easily. Buzz machines, it is free of cost software. It is hard to use but once you understood the connections you'll find out how to work with it. Wiring and feedback between machines is bit of complicated at first. But after sometime you'll get used to it. There are some good songs composed with buzz machines. If you've some free time and lot of patience to try out new software then buzz machines is good way to tinker. Reason, it is pretty expensive package. But there are many industry reviews of this software. It is professional quality software and it comes up with plenty of plugins and effects. It is easy to use, but requires bigger footprint on hard disk. I tried it for sometime as i used songs i created from that software for the effects in flash demos. Another software from propellerheads which is purely based on machine usage is Rebirth. Try demos of both software you'll be amazed. Other softwares you can look for are from Cakewalk, Steinberg, Sony. Pick one which you think is easy for you to work with.

XAMPP, Uniform server and MAMP, WAMP. Out of these options, you can choose uniform server or XAMPP if you're from windows or linux platform. MAMP and Lighttpd is available for mac and windows as well. My suggestion to you is use : XAMPP or Uniform server.

There are plenty of bandwidth monitoring programs like Wireshark. Some of them are commercial. Also there are some programs which restrict access to network in order to save bandwidth. Zonealarm firewall/blocking program can do job in this case. But now that i've gone through your requirements of the program i suggest you need to use custom software. You can either create your own in C++/Java/C# depending on your system and the possibility of language that let's you do this quickly and efficiently. I think you can ask this question to sites like stackoverflow,codesynapse,bytes,daniweb.

That's not all. You've to link credit or debit card in order to retrieve the money you got from paypal. Otherwise you can't transfer money you got on paypal to any other account or even to bank. So There are two steps initially for fully functional paypal account. First is sign-up with paypal and link your bank/give your identity details. Second, link your credit or debit card. This will solve the issue of sending and receiving money from paypal. Now after this in future if you hit the monthly limit of receiving and sending money for which they ask you to upgrade to business account. I know lot of hassles but this is how they generate revenue to keep their services going. Quite overpriced fees sometimes but anyway can't help it until there is central system with less fees comes.

You inquired about this ?. I'm not sure if there is setup fee or not. But if you upgrade from logic basic to logic pro, i'm sure there is no setup fee involved with it. This page here at Xisto - Web Hosting shows there are no upgrade costs. Check here. It says : Also on Logic Pro page there is no mention of Setup fee. But i guess in payments option, it could be there. You've to confirm from there.

@Cicala, i just checked few minutes ago, it is fixed. Few hours earlier it was working with few people here. But now it is fixed. Try logging in to your Xisto - Support billing account. It should be working without any problems to you as well. Not sure part of routine check or downtime but they fixed it. I guess opaque and other admins on server side of Xisto - Support side worked this weekend to fix this up. They need vacation now :-P. Lol. Try checking your xisto account it is working. :-)

9.95$ is i think cost of setting up domains and hosting. This fee is waived by almost every host if you pay yearly or 2-yearly cost. Else it could cost hosting company a lot in terms of time and money. So to avoid free-loaders and stress with customers registration, every hosting company (well if not every most out there do) charge setup fees. Dreamhost charges more than 9.95$ for setting up account. and if you look at their count you'll find out the expensive number that goes for setting up account. So it is worth to pay yearly than opting for monthly option.

But Xisto servers are not in Mumbai. Office i.e. operating center you can say or billing center is in Mumbai. Servers are with Psychz hosting company, as far as i know. Any mod or admin correct me if i'm wrong with this. For more information check this answer from Xisto - Support. Earlier they hosted their servers with Theplanet and Directi, but now the servers are hosted with Psychz network as per the info given in that page. So as per that answer, Servers are located in California.

Monthly billing cycle ? are you opting for monthly billing on Xisto - Web Hosting ? or is this Xisto hosting criteria ? i mean on Xisto - Web Hosting there is no such field for monthly payments or is there any that i missed ? and on point of yearly or monthly payment, yearly payment for hosting costs appx 30$. be it mycents or US $. So if you pile up 30$ then yearly hosting is enough with those. As i'm paid customer of Xisto - Web Hosting so i know about this amount. I don't know how much i've to maintain mycents in wallet during renewals,this is my first time with mycents. let's see if i can renew it with mycents. Website ? i don't know the theme of your website and how you're planning to earn money with it, so can't suggest anything for idea of website. It's your choice anyway. and we on Xisto hardly suggest you for your personal good. Though if you like spending some time on computer and love keyboard then try blogging. Do it as if you're not going to earn money then cause of this you'll likely to gather traffic to blog cause of your content. If you succeed you'll pile up lot of cash via CPM based ads. It depends on hard work,patience, connections and Important thing TIME.

I get this downtime regularly on one of my blogs. On that blog i regularly get issue of "Error establishing connection with database". This problem is not yet resolved and i opened a ticket with Xisto - Support as well. But they said it is because of high-traffic site on that server. They're in process to move that site. But still after 3-4 months i'm still experiencing the same issue. I don't know how and when this problem is going to be resolved. Waiting for Xisto resolve such issues.

Not sure about this. But with or without hosting you'll be charged 12$ for domain, that is fixed fee with taxes. I don't know if you're charged with 14 $ or so. if so then i think xisto raised their prices perhaps. yes it is cheaper. and sometimes it cuts load off your shoulder, as you'll have plenty of time to post and get mycents for your hosting. if in doubt always exceed mycent count for atleast 2-years of hosting amount. This will insure that if by any chance you go offline or unable to post here, your account don't get suspended cause of no mycents in your xisto billing account. Just a suggestion, that if you've long term plan with site/forum/blog of yours try and earn MyCent for more than your needs. It helps in longer run. Lol. Just noticed that you're too active on forums and sometimes get frustrated with slow mycent count. I think you need to relax a bit. take your time off sometimes from forum. i did this for last 3 days. and i'll do that regularly, in order to take my mind off this Mycent and hosting/domain stress. and to warn you that less sleep hurts a lot, may not hurt you during 17-20's but after 20's you'll get more stress and physical stress will increase so take enough sleep. Earning mycent is easy, it takes only few good topics to earn them back. So relax. Because they don't have to worry about protecting your data in case if they go down. They owe your content and can remove your site if they get into any legal hassles or any complain from advertisers or others etc. If you're reading news regularly then you know that one of hollywod's celeb got her identity revealed cause of blogger(google's service). So there are always issue with free services cause in these services you're on your own. It is always beneficial to buy hosting as you owe your content and it is hosted in your account of hosting service. You get right ask questions in case site goes down and you have right to get your data back. This is not case with google/wordpress.com, but anyway they rarely have downtime. and when they do have it, ya know.

I don't know if any one of you noticed this or not. But Xisto is getting down for me after every 3-4 hours. It is not accessible for atleast 20-30 and after that it comes back. I'm observing this from last 2 days. Maybe this could be a server issue. I hope opaque and other admins will work on it to avoid more downtime on Xisto server. Lol. Jokes apart. It is infact hard to earn money from the forums. Cause the banner ads running on Xisto are PPC and not CPM based so even if Xisto gets lot of traffic. I don't think they fetch much earnings. It were to be CPM ads i would have said that Xisto earning moderate. But it's not..so at the end, free world is quite broke in one way or the other. :/
