  1. When 9/11 happened I was still in high school. I remember that I should have been studying for an exams the next day but I decided to turn on the tv. I switched to CNN news and I was so shocked to see a video showing a plane crashing against one of the twin towers. I told my mother about it and we both watch as the two towers fell into rumbles. It was a really, really emotional thing to watch and you can't help but feel angry at those responsible for it. Husker is right, we should all pray for those who lost their lives during 9/11 and those they have left behind.
  2. How far would I go? It sure is very tempting but getting that kind of money would certainly have a catch. If I'd be offered that amount I wouldn't give up anything that would imperil my family and my reputation. I could probably clean my room or even our entire house but that's it, I think?
  3. Aaw! I've been socially bashed today but reading this post makes me feel a little better already. * To fall in love. ..and for the person that you're aching for to feel the same way about you.* To use a sweater of the person that you like and find that it still smells of their perfume. ..this is really nice and sweet* To wake up and realize it is still possible to sleep for a couple of hours. ..I adore the weekends! * To go to bed and to listen while it rains outside. ..absolutely* To see people that you like, feeling happy. ..and you being responsible for it happening.Aah, my heart broke for a little with this post.
  4. Try the code below. I've modified it since there's some minor problems with the use of quotation marks and mysql is strict with closed and unclosed strings so we have to be careful. You can use a variable first to store your string query so you can see if all quotation marks are closed (with beginning and ending quotes) but it's just optional. I hope this helps. String $qry = "SELECT ID FROM login WHERE username='" .$dusername. "'";$result = mysql_query($qry); if($result != NULL){ //username DOES exsist so they cant have it! include("scripts/userexsists.php");
  5. In my school in college, aside from school supplies they also sell lots of prepaid phone cards for cellphones and also dial-up cards for Internet connection. They sell really well since lots of students have prepaid cellphones. They also sell school merchandize like tshirts, mugs, stickers, etc. Good luck anyways!
  6. Happy Birthday! I'm turning 21 this November. Alcohol? alcohol dispensers? Well, you are 21 already! Enjoy your day!
  7. The basic Notepad can be the only tool you need in coding your website project. It's clean and simple. It depends on you what you want to put in your code and those you don't need won't be in your code unlike when you're using WYSIWYG programs. If you need something with fancier features like drag and drop capabilities and built in javascripts, you can choose to use Macromedia Dreamweaver. As with the graphics for your site, I suggest you use Adobe Photoshop since it is the tool most professionals use. Fireworks is fine as well but then again Photoshop has more features and you can download tons of tutorials for it from the Internet.
  8. Try ignoring them for awhile. If they ask you if you want something say you don't want any. That way they'll suspect there's something wrong and they'll realize you have been slightly overlooked. It's really sad since it's your birthday. Have you given them hints about what you want? Maybe they've given you something weeks or days before your birthday and they thought that was it, it was enough and it was what you wanted?
  9. Before Google, I used AskJeeves.com I remember my brother saying that if I needed to search for something I should go to this site. It's pretty okay before but it didn't have what Google provides. Anyways, I think it's still around somewhere. Nothing beats google! Even their free softwares are super cool!
  10. Love and pain always go together. Unrequitted love seems to be everyone's love story in this world. *Sigh! Sadly, we tend to ache for a person who loves someone else. I've this crush since high school and though we went to different schools for college I still have this aching for him. He's in love with this girl I knew in high school and Aaaaah! This isn't my love story but yeah, love and pain! I feel you.
  11. Umm, does that happen always? There must be something wrong if you're always having constipation. It is true what they said- have yourself checked out because you really never know. I've had constipation before and my mother always told me to eat more fruits and food with lots of fiber. It really works - I've noticed that I developed a regular bowel movement after that and I feel light and clean inside. Anyways, my mother had gall stones before and she had undergone surgery and all and I know it was very painful because I've seen her suffer from it. And I had a monthly curse of dysmenorrhea and it's comparable to giving birth (if not worse). -By the way, still can't believe you posted this topic! lol!
  12. I love cheese! Cheddar cheese that is melted and semi-burnt on a piece of bread is really, really good! Cheeses are amazing with garlic, bread, tomato and some meat. Most people's favorite food come from these ingredients like pizza, spaghetti, cheese burger, nachos (with tomato and ground beef, yum! yum!) and quesadilla. Yum yum! I love cheeses!!!!!!!
  13. So I graduated and I got a job, right? I just finished my three-month training and I was immediately thrusted into actual work. I have a degree in IT and I got a job as a programmer, well sort of, it's more like an application implementor. Anyways, what I do is I implement a system that someone else developed. That someone else doesn't know anything about table normalization. Not that I'm an expert at normalization but it's just so freakin annoying the way tables have 46 fields and I have to guess which field is for what. Grrr! The system is coded in VB and he uses stored procedures in SQL Server. He doesn't give a d*mn if his system is so freakin slow when deployed in a network, he just thinks he's so high and mighty by doing that freakin system. His codes are soooo freakin disorganized that I grit my teeth everytime I have to look into it. It's a miracle how he got it to work. The worse thing about it is I have to customize the freakin system to fit the needs of the clients here. I probably wouldn't mind if I understand his code since I know the flow of the system already but I can't freakin decipher his work! It's like untangling an extremely tight knot. I know it's my job and I get paid for it and I'm probably just whining but aaaah! Deep breaths and counting to ten doesn't work for me anymore.
  14. I totally agree! And sometimes its far much easier to read an absorbing novel than to read a book about your assigned books for school. Much more if they're about the inner workings of a computer, yucK!
  15. I might try it but paypal still doesn't support my country for I don't know what reason. Grr! It would be cool to earn something like $200 dollars. hehe!
  16. Well, I have a very basic call and text cellphone, a 1100. It has very little features but it comes really handy sometimes. I get to use its flashlight when its dark like when I've turned off the lights in my room and I forgot to turn on my fan and I needed an instant source of light. I also use my phone as an alarm clock. My alarm clock at home has been through a lot and has in fact died on me and so my phone does the KRIIING KRIIING! function when I need to wake up extra early for work. And then there's the call and text of course and the occasional snake 2 tournament to beat the high score my brother managed to get.
  17. Well, I believe there's something already planned for us but realizing that plan depends on us. God gives us clues along the way to point us to the path we're suppose to take. He prepares us so as to recognize whatever it is that we're destined to do. Like when we feel doubtful and uneasy about what we're doing, it's like one of God's hints that this isn't it, that there's something much more than this that we deserve.
  18. Oh, I didn't know it would be THAT short. Thanks, I'll keep it. I'm sure it would come in handy sometime. Thanks again!
  19. Interesting. I sometimes have dreams that get preempted by the real world (my alarm clock, my mother's wake up call to me, just to name a few). I don't know about the controlling your dream bit. I mean sometimes I know that I'm dreaming and it's like I'm half awake and half asleep and I had tried changing the outcomes of my dreams but I don't know if that's that. I might try the practicing real-world events in order to improve performance in them bit.
  20. Mugglenet.com is a huge site for everything Harry Potter. It has a very large community (hundred thousand visitors a day) and it is amazingly filled with Harry Potter stuff(Chapter reviews, fan fiction, artworks, games). I often go there if I felt like I needed to reattach myself with Harry's world. <_<An interesting site is dumbledoreisnotdead.com. The title should make sense to you if you've read the books. Well, it's main topic is about Dumbledore but I just felt like putting it here 'coz it's amusing.
  21. Wow! I'm part of the 20,000! Congratulations Xisto! The number shows that a lot of people believe in the service that this webhost provides. The community is great too, better than any forum community I've been on before. Cheers to Opaque and the rest!
  22. I'm using Photoshop CS since I'm used to it already. The first Photoshop I used while I was still a newbie at graphics design was version 7. I usually upgrade whenever there's a newer version and I'm planning to switch to CS2. I heard it looks and feels just like CS2 but more support and more features.
  23. Nice idea for a website, very simple and direct. I wish I had thought of it before. I like the the way the site looks, nice and clean against a white background. I assume you coded the script for this as well? I like it. Maybe in time it'll have a lot of traffic and the site will have topics organized into different categories. But then that would make it seem like a forum, right? But I like it.
  24. Sometimes I get too touchy that people think I'm angry. I don't intend to look angry, it's just that sometimes I look too intense that people confuse it with anger. I probably worry too much also, I don't really know. I have anger issues also but that doesn't mean I want to shoot people or something. When someone irritates/annoys me I might snap back at him without an intention of biting his head off but sometimes I just can't help it. I'm still trying to resolve this problem. BUT i DON'T THINK MY PROBLEM IS THAT SEVERE YET. I think sometimes it's just my insecurities kicking in or my being a perfectionist sometimes. It's probably that in your case also. HOW ABOUT HUGGING A CUTE BABY (or a puppy)? This should probably come you down.
  25. Amelie - This is a French movie and I love it because if ever I would write and direct a movie, it would probably be like this (well I can't anymore since this movie was made already ). I love the main character and the story is nice and sweet. Reality Bites - I saw this movie probably years ago and it made me love Winona Ryder. I feel nostalgic watching this movie now and though it made mixed reviews, I love the whole feel of the movie (with references to pop culture, gen-xish and the soundtrack is nice too. About a boy - I can never get tired of watching this movie. I like the fact that the movie had Hugh Grant, the main character, narrating the story. True to the director's filmmaking style, the movie ends happily leaving you feeling happy also. I loveit!
