Anyone Into The Number 11 ? Warning: Pure math ahead.
sparkx replied to iGuest's topic in Science and Technology
I remember this from 6th grade math. It was one of the tricks for remembering your multiplication tables from 1-15. I forgot about it though. It is one of the things that will help you for about 2 months untill you forget about it again (at least I know that is true for me). I had also learned the little thing with 111*111=12321. You can do that with any number of 1's so 11*11=121. Its funny how that works out. Thanks,Sparkx -
Is it a text based game? It looks cool I guess but the font is too contrast. I dont think I could ever play this textbased game unless they offered alternate tempates or something. You should probably discribe the game a little better then you did. I have no idea what it is about from your post (other then it has to do with armys or something). @ethergeek The terms are very short but they seem to have terms all over the place (not just in the textbox). However I dont see exactly why they wouldnt let you reffer there site. They are (in my opinion at lest) the ones that are benifity by someone adevertising their website. If you could add my detail about this site I may try it out and make an account,Sparkx

It is OK but I dont think the cbox should be soo long try making it wider like the one Xisto has. I also find it distracting that you put the cbox inside a subforum. You should put it in the head of the topic or at least in a subforum of a subforum (not on the front page). You might also think about placing a banner at the top. It looks better then just plain text. I looked around and couldnt find what your site was about. Now I didnt log in but I find it nice to know what a forum is about before joining it. You could make a topic in the rules subforum.Just a few tips,Sparkx

I am playing a download game, but it is full screen. Is there a software I can download that will make it just like any other window. Something like D3DWindower but in English. It would be good if it took little ram to run because my computer is slow but anything is good. If you know a program could you post a link to the website and download (full or trial doesnt matter). That would really help me out. I dont know, from what I heard it takes more ram to have it in a window then in fullscreen but that doesnt quite make sence to me. Is that fact correct? Thanks for all the help,Sparkx

I think the Iphone is a great Milestone in technology. I however cannot say I will get one. With such high prices (and because it is made by Apple we all know that the price will never decline). I thought it would be cool back when they introduced it, but then I thought about it for a while and decided I really dont need a new computer. If I really want to search on google I can simply go home and look it up on my desktop. I could get a phone and a laptop for just more then the price of the Iphone (and its two year contract). I will vote no on the poll because I don't think I will ever have enough money to spend to be able to afford something that could be stolen soo easly. Thanks,Sparkx

HTML 102 - Web Design For Beginners More Basic HTML Writing
sparkx replied to vujsa's topic in Programming
Very nice tutorial. I couldn't have said it better myself. I think of two types of tags, not just tags you close and tags you dont need to close. I think of them rather as tags that require no extra data. For example an <img> tag needs no extra data (outside of the tag) so there is no need to close it, but tags like <center> apply to something not inside the tag itself, therefore it needs to be ended. Reply to SonicHabbo: This is as basic as it gets. Even the font tag has been simplified. I would post the standard way for <font> tags, but no advanced HTML replys.Again Very Good,Sparkx -
I Need A New Account For Rs please give me one
sparkx replied to Shredderdude's topic in General Discussion
Shredderdude, you are posting on an international forum (that means we all have different time zones). Whenever posting a time on Xisto have it in GMT time (look up on a map to learn how). Example: "I am online from 5:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M GMT" everyone that reads that comment will know the exact time that you will be online at. Also you multi-posted (posting multiple times in a row, if you want to add something press the "edit" button under your post). That is not alloud at Xisto but because it looks like you are new here I am sure you will only get a warning. Now I am not exactly sure why your are answering your own question, but I guess there could be 2 people using the same account.Just A Suggestion,Sparkx -
Man Dies From Playing World Of Warcraft Gaming? Harmful?
sparkx replied to half1405241509's topic in Science and Technology
This topic is realy old. Looks to be from 2005. Anyway I dont feel bad for him. It is his own fault he got addicted to a kids game. Now I have never actualy played world of warcraft but from what I have heard it is one addicting game. Now playing for 50 hours strait seems a little far out but I do know people that have played for up to 10 hours at a time. I do the same as lonelym when I am on the computer. I program php and mysql. I am trying to learn c++ and 3D image making (I want to make a game for windows) but it hasnt been comming very smoothly because all the 3D image programs and 3D cad programs cost $200+ and that is a little much to spend on software (at least in my opinion). I use my computer anywere from 10 minutes to 2 hours per day (depending on if I have anything better to do). I dont think I could got on for 5-7 hours but you never know <_<Thanks,Sparkx -
Forums Whats your fave, and where do you host it?
sparkx replied to iGuest's topic in General Discussion
The forum software I use is not listed up there. I have been working on my own forum software for my site so I can costumize the layout without having a copyright. However it is a very basic script one day I plan to share it with the public as freeware. I host my forums on Xisto mostly because it is the only free web host that has MySQL databases and allows PHP with .HTTACCESS Other then that I would say invision power boards is the best but it also costs the most. If you cant afford Invision get vBulletin but if you want free you should get invisionfree or Simple Machines. Do not get PHPBB because it is very bad and has too many exploits (I think there are mods to stop the exploits but I am not sure). Thanks,Sparkx -
Anyone Miss The Old Super Nintendo And Sega Games
sparkx replied to CroSpartacus's topic in Computer Gaming
I have played the Attari system and thought it was good for its time. Some games were pretty cool. I loved the Mario games for the Nintendo 64 they were amazing. I know you can get them for the wii but they cost points, but I have no idea how to get points for the wii shop. I am not sure if the games support the wii controls either. It would be cool if they did. They probably cost less then the new games. Probably around $9.00 not $49.99. I wish they would continue making these types of games. I bet they would make a lot off of them because people know about them. Thanks,Sparkx -
It sounds like you want to learn PHP. Your game seems like a lot of work. Only try if you are willing to work on it for 1-2 hours a day. Anyway... to get started I recommend looking up on Google a tutorial for PHP. Everyone seems to find one site they absolutely love. If you are still want to learn PHP then get a web host (Xisto) and test out some PHP strings. Once you get the hang of some basic PHP (variables est.) you will want to learn MySQL and how to make a database. Let me simplified the difference between PHP and MySQL:PHP: This is the base of your program. All process and operations are done here. It is good if you know HTML but it is not required. The PHP will be where you get the information and display it for the user. This will all be done with MySQL quarries. Basically Select (finds all the data from the database), Insert (inserts a new entry), Update (updates an existing entry) and Delete (remove an entry).MySQL: This is your database that will contain all the data about each entry in your case I would recommend a table for all you members data, and then a table for each item (oil est.). There is no one way you can have your tables set up. Everyone sets up their database to fit them and so it looks organized to them. Just remember none can tell you a special way to set up every project. You need to find things you like to use and set it up the way you want. Whenever I start a new PHP and MySQL project I make a plan and graph out how I want all the data to be handled. This really takes a lot of knowledge of PHP and MySQL so I suggest you get familiar with both languages before even starting your project.Hope that helps;Sparkx.

OK well I am making a new php program and I am trying to add bbcode to it. Anyway I was going to replace each thing by it self, but that could cause errors. Anyway is there a way to make a variable be anything? Here is an example: This is the bbcode:[color=00FF00]Hey[/color]In my php:$bbcode = array("[color=".$a."]");$html = array( "<font color='#".$a."'>");$topic_content = str_replace($bbcode, $html, $posted_bbcode);So I want $a to be any variable but the same variable as used before. Do you get what I am saying? It is a little confusing but basicly what is the best way to make bbcode? It may not even involve the str_replace but this was the easyiest way to explain what I wanted. Thanks for everyone that helps, Sparkx

OK well this is making me mad. Maby it is the fact that I am in the middle of an awsome php project or it is because I am being outsmarted by html. Anyway I have this real odd thing occuring while I am programming. It is a little hard to explain, but when I put RE or RE: in a table cell, the next cell has an offset. Here is an example: Example. Now I have tried changing all the vars (for css ect) I keep getting the same error. Here is the code I used (simplified for post but the error still occurs): <style type="text/css">.var{width: 600px;}</style><table class='var'><tr><td colspan='2'><center>RE This is one cool forum.</center></td></tr><tr><td width="100" align="left">Dylan<br>Posts: 10</td><td align="left" valign='top'><p align='left'>Me to.</p></td></tr></table>I tried other browsers and that doent fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Sparkx

Never Give Out Your Password! For real
sparkx replied to Nintendo's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Your password is one of the things you would never give out. However in most cases people use the same password. People have been running servays on password for years (people usually use there or a family members name). If someone ever asks you to join the servay say no. These servays are ran through programs people join (example forums). You password is encrypted and the survays just look for the most common encryption. There are a few things you just never tell people that you met online. In most cases: Password, Last Name, Address and anything about ssn or credit card number. Thanks,SparkxAlso: I am not sure if you can access logs from the chat system I use (xfire). -
Thank you pyost, develcuy and toby. This works great for me. I ended up using the directory system. For the php project I am on it will work the best. I am trying out lots of things and it seems like re-naming the headers could be a real usefull tool (more then I expected). It is better then having a long url like index.php?a=1&b=... ect. People where saying my url was too long and hopefully this will change thier mind. I just had a few quick things that I was worried about. Not all vars required - Ok lets say I have a php file that is index.php?a=1&b=5. But the variable b is not required. If I wanted to have the url /1/5/. Is there a way to make it so you could type in /1/ without /1// or do I just need to make a new Rule?Vars after dot - I found this a little intresting that you could put vars after the dot example index.php&a=Test --> index.Test is this safe or do not all browsers support this? I just though that was a little intesting.Thank you very much for the help. I would never be able to learn php without your help. I guess it is a good thing I signed up for Xisto.Sparkx

Sql Injection Prevention (passing Numerical Data Across Pages). PHP/mySQL
sparkx replied to Chesso's topic in Programming
Well I tried this. I know it doesn't work all the time but is it good enough in most cases? Code: //STOPING ALL POSSIBLITIES$var=$_POST['var'];$no_good = array("'", '"', ">", "<", ";"); //Possible charictors used in injections$var2 = str_replace($no_good, "", $var);if($var!=$var2){echo("Invalid Charictors Used.");exit();}//CONVERT TO HTML$var=$_POST['var'];$no_good = array("'", '"', ">", "<"); //Possible charictors used in injections$no_good2 = array(""", '"', ">", "<");$var2 = str_replace($no_good, $no_good2, $var);Which one do you recomend for safe results. If I do convert to html can they do html on my site or would it just be displayed and no action taken? Thanks, Sparkx -
Well I have been recieving some real good help here at Xisto so I decited I just won't even try Yahoo Answers first. OK this is halfway between php and mysql. I want to echo text from MySQL that includes vars. Here is an example: MySQL Entry This is some sql entry. $varI tryied: $var=("It worked");$row = mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM example WHEREÂ id='5'")); $output=$row['content'];echo($output);//Doesnt workecho<<<END$outputEND;//Still doesnt workMy wanted outcome: This is some sql entry. It worked Do you understand what I am saying? Im sorry but I think I stated the question well. Â Thank you all very much for all the help, Sparkx

Thank you very much. How would I have multiple vars though? Is there a way to have more then just one variable be put in the header. Example: index.php?ID=5&a=5 and display i5-a5.html just like this header. Or does it all need to be all one variable and I just combine everything in a string. Also there a simi-colon after each line right? So the actuall code would look like: RewriteEngine on;RewriteRule ^(*)\.html$ index.php?id=$1;Thank you for the help, Sparkx

It really depends if you are willing to sit down for 10 minutes every weekend and post on a forum (thats about 40 minutes per month but easy work). If you think like I do, Xisto really is the way to go. It takes about 15 minutes for me to make $3.00 (The average cost for basic hosting per month). So if you are good at typing and making posts, Xisto is the way to go. However if it takes you 30 minutes to make 7 hosting credits then you might want to continue with paid hosting (unless you make less then $6.00 per hour). That is how I see it and some people would disagree with me saying that paid hosting is better then Xisto but if you compair the $3.00 per month plan to Xisto they are about the same. Thanks,Sparkx

phpBB2 vs IPB Didnt know what forum to put this in
sparkx replied to Troop107-Admin's topic in Software
Invision Power Board in my opinion is by far the best forum software. PhpBB and vBulletin are almost the same other then some different set ups and vBulletin is secure. Invision Power Board is real nice. I liked the old version because it was real secure and did not have too much extra stuff. The new Invision Power Board is still real good but it seems like anouther socal/dating network (with the user profiles ect) a little like a new myspace. If you have a choose and lots of money you should get Invision Power Board rather then vBulletin or PhpBB. If you wan't something free get Simple Machines, Invision Free or IceBB not PhpBB because PhpBB has loads of exploits.Thats My Opinion,Sparkx -
Who Is Your Favourite Free Host? whats your fav free host?
sparkx replied to teartrack_sos's topic in General Discussion
This topic is really old, but I couldn't find a large jump in time between replys (showing that it is still active and simply countinued recieving posts over time) which is ok in my optionion. Xisto is the best free webhost out there (this is coming from the person that has tried ever webhost listed there (besides Gator Host because thats not a free host) and many more then just the ones listed. I like Xisto for:-Cpannel (I love it, the best control pannel I have ever seen)-PHP&MySQL support (I really needed a PHP/MySQL host for programming)-Space+Bandwidth (Very good for a free webhost, not the highest I have seen but is good enough for my site at the moment)What I think could make Xisto even better (On most hosts this is easy on Xisto it took me months to find something).-Java Support (This isn't really big but still it would be nice to have, however I haven't come accross a free host that actually supports Java and doesn't just say it does). That is simply my opinion. I think I may have made a post on this topic a real long time ago but I never said why I like Xisto and if I would have edited none would have ever read it.Thanks,Sparkx -
I Didn't Know Only English Sites Were Accepted
sparkx replied to Matoking1405241541's topic in Web Hosting Support
Wait so you need to post in english but it doesn't matter what language the hosted site is in? Am I correct about this? I was going to make a forum on my website and provide a sub-forum for Spanish support. Would that be allowed because I am posting on this forum (Xisto forum) in english? If not I just won't have the Spanish sub-forum, I would rather keep my Xisto account because Xisto Rocks! Thanks,Sparkx -
I see lots of websites that have .html files that contain php. I am little confused. How do you make it so a php file creates a .html file. I don't mean something like: <html><?php//Php file...?></html>But rather something that renames the file. I know how to do it to .png files. Is there a way to turn this php file into a .html file but the vars are: vars.html not index.html?vars. Get what I am saying? So the php file would look like: index.php?ID=5 But the HTML would look like: 5.htmlI see a lot of people doing this such as forums. I am not sure if this forum does it but when you look at the url it is: some_topic_t1111.html I was thinking there might be a way that uses a variation of: header("(anti-spam-(anti-spam-content-type:)) image/png");(well it doesn't work but replace anti-spam- with nothing) Thank you everyone that helps out. I always woundered how websites do this and I was thinking I might use it unless it has some security holes or requires lots of bandwidth/space. Thanks again, Sparkx

Sql Injection Prevention (passing Numerical Data Across Pages). PHP/mySQL
sparkx replied to Chesso's topic in Programming
Very nice Tutorial. I just need a little more help. I wan't to stop sql injections from form inputs (post inputs) is there a way so I can make it so only the charictors a-z A-Z and 0-9 can be entered? I tried preg_match but I found out if you have just one letter in it then return will work (example: - doesn't work but a- does). How would I make it so a- would not return and come up with an error message. That would really help make my website secure. I really don't want my site to get hacked lol. Thanks,Sparkx -
Im a little confused, the video was deleated but is back up? What is the new url of the video. It sounds real intresting because I agree that the Vista (even though I don't have one) is not very good. I have tried it out a little bit and it seems to have too much graphic things for me. I like it simple not all over the place, even the start menue is hard to use in my opinion. I am thinking about switching from Windows to Apple. I have heard people that use Apple computers love them and think us Windows users are crazy. I know it will take time to get used to the Apple style and the way all the programs are set up (much different then the P.C.)Can someone post an updated link to the video. I like watching pointless commedies. Thanks,Sparkx
