  1. This is a cool website. I don't have much use for it but it's seems accurate. I have never seen one of these that actually allow subdomains also. After looking around a bit, I see that this site has lots of other stuff also (location of phone number ect.) I am not exactly sure what some thing mean but it could come in handy when looking for reliable websites. I never knew how many website the Google server hosted. Seems like Google has a website (registered domain) for just about every language. Thanks,Sparkx
  2. The 2012 year ending was just the year the Mayan calendar ended. I am probably wrong about this but I heard that they were accurate to 30 seconds after a few 100 years. So, I wrote this topic after a national geographic show I saw and thought that people might be interested. I am quite aware how hard it is to believe without sources along with the poor grammar and spelling I used in that post. I was hoping that this topic died 12 months ago after it was proved inaccurate by people that know more about the subject then I do. I realize now that many of the things posted have been since proven incorrect. I am sorry for trying to post ideas that were easily interoperated as facts. Thanks,Sparkx
  3. Thats good that you figured it out, however I think you probably should have edited your origonal post rather then quoting it in a reply. You get just as many Host Credits and keep your solved topics from jumping in front of unsolved ones. Just a suggestion.I was woundering why do you have both a foot.php and a footer.php wouldn't it be more organized to keep them as one and run an if string? Unless they are large files I guess would be the only reason.Good luck with your game ,Sparkx
  4. The fact that you even Googled it puts you in front of about half the programmer wanabies on this forum as it is. On my website I do the following to increment things:-Run While. If a constant added variable is equal to the ID it repeats the while. If failed found first "skipped" number.-If no skipped number + 1 to the last number.-Double Check if number exists (useless unless two entries and being inserted at the exact same time).-Insert entry. You probably wont understand what I just said until you get better at programming, but that’s how I check. I don't know if the code you found included skipped number or not but that is always nice to have unless you want deleted ID's to stay deleted. I made up this method and am not exactly sure how secure it is but it may be a good idea to do if you really get serious about your game.Good Luck,Sparkx
  5. Deleat unused files and backup files and you might run faster. I cleaned out my registry, used msconfig, diffragmented, ran virus scans, removed backup files and my computer still runs slow on some programs. I think it might be my hard disk like you said. I have lots of ram (1.5 GB) and a 2.5 GHZ proccessor with window XP installed shouldn't my computer be running fast? It is only a few 3D CAD softwares that make my computer run slow. Thanks for suggesting a new hard disc I think that might be the problem. I only have about 5% of the hard disc free (which apparently brings up warnings about low disc space). I don't like using software optimizors I just don't trust a script to mess around with my system files. If that script crashs then my computer wont work at all. What hardware should I upgrade to make my computer run faster? Is my proccessor out dated? Thanks,Sparkx
  6. Now I haven't read the entire 11 pages of this forum but personally I think there is life outside of earth. Not necessarily ET that everyone is hoping for however. I think that scientists in India are investigating organisms that they think came off of a comet that passed earth about a year ago. I don't know what they finally concluded but I think it is possible that there was life that can live in the environment of a comet. Now SETI (search for extra terrestrial intelligence) is just a waist of money in my opinion. Do we really care enough about ET to spend millions of dollars to investigate "radio signals" some scientist clam came from some far off place? If the Allen Telescope Array finds anything news worthy I will be very surprised.Psql I disagree with what you said. Not every form of life is out to kill. We don't know what they would do. Who knows they me be smart enough to not bother, after all if we were smart enough to live on other planets do you think everyone would be at war over land here on earth (assuming that we could find a way to make them into more of a livable environment)? Well I guess that is a bad example but what I am getting at is we have no idea what they would do. Just my opinion,Sparkx
  7. I have been changing my IP with different methods but this seems faster. I use Miles way of changing (because of my router). However for some reason my IP changes automatically every 10 days or so. It bugs me a bit because I can't be a server without fixing that problem first. I would get everything set up then in a few days my "dynamic" IP would change and my site would move. It isn't a big problem but sometimes it would be nice to host my own team speak or Ventrilo rather then using someone else's host. Also: A little confused does the method explained in this topic change you output IP to whatever you want or is it random like it is normally. I don't know much about IP's other then they are four numbers from 1 to 255.Thanks,Sparkx
  8. My server is still redirects to different sites. I think I am on the gamma server. I went to xisto and they don't say anything on there site about the problem that is occuring. A moderator or admin should go to "Live Support Online" and see why the servers are acting so odd. Hopefully they didn't delete all the files. That would be bad...Thanks,Sparkx
  9. Im not sure exactly what server I am using. I access the admin cpanel from 2082 if that helps. The same error is occuring to the faq website so I must be on that same server or both the servers are having the same problem. I have checked around and yordan's website appears to have the same problem. In fact I have yet to find a website subdomain.astahost.com that is working. Sorry I can't give you any more information unless there is a way to check the server without the admin cpanel. Thanks,Sparkx
  10. I have been having trouble with Xisto for the past few days but now it is worse then it has been. I think I may have gotten banned but I have enough host credits. Whenever I go onto my website or cpanel (or anyone else’s website that is hosted on Xisto). I get: The domain "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; is invalid. Here is an example: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Does anyone know what is wrong? Has anyone else noticed this problem? I just wanted to bring it to your attention. It seems almost like the server is down but the last reboot was only a few days ago. It could be that the servers are in California and they are getting hit by that storm (however the more I think about it the less I think that is the problem). Thanks in advance, Sparkx
  11. I used davesite.com also and a book about HTML. I believe I learned the basics in 1 day and Style (CSS) the next day. It is really very easy to learn and is just a little more advanced then BBCode that is found on forums. When I was learning (and still today) I use web hosts that automatically update the web (in other words I don't need to use notepad, save then upload). I do it this way because trial and error is always the best way to program (at least in my opinion). I guess that is just because I am not a very good programmer. In a few years I wouldn't be surprised if HTML became a basic skill like typing. That assumes that the Internet is still popular then. Thanks,Sparkx
  12. There are lots of them just look around in this sub forum. Some larger sites have their own system of ads (but this is hard to do so it is best to use things like Google). Yahoo has one also, from what I have heard it is good (better then Adsence). Just google Advertising/pay per click or something like that and you will get lots of sites. Just make sure it has a support forum with actual feedback (not just one person posting over and over saying it is great) sometimes they are just scams to get your personal info. I don't advertise on my site now at least. It just make visitors feel like all you want is money and even with ads you don't get much money unless you have lots of visitors.Hope this helps,SparkxAlso: There are lots of posts in this sub forum about both pay per click and pay per view (with definitions of both) just look around here before trying to Google things.
  13. You can make a .boot file with emu8086, save it to a drive, then run it. Let me warn you however that you probably will not get far because Operating Systems take lots of "assemblers" that assemble code (such as C++). People at Microsoft and Apple spend most of their time making these assemblers so that other programmers can make programs (such as Mozilla and Firefox). Now this take a LONG time to do, then you need to teach people to make files for your assembler. It is very hard to make a functional OS (unless you start with a basic one like Linux then work off that). I don't know much about making Operating Systems but I think Linux is open source (correct me if I am wrong). To learn more you might want to look at some books or this basic tutorial: How To Do Things. Edit: From you post I couldn’t really tell what you where asking. Do you want to know IDEAS for making your Operating System or were you wondering HOW to make your Operating System Hope this helps out and Good Luck Sparkx
  14. Happy New Year Everyone. I just hung out at a small party and watched the new year tape from New York. Not as fun as going to see it myself, but atleast I didn't have to go through the traffic to leave. Hopefully this year will be better then some others. Isn't there an Olympics this year? I think it is in Beijing. That is alway fun to watch. How was everyone elses new year party?Sparkx
  15. Lots of people seem to be scared of breaking their computer maby someone should make a anything.reg file and explorer.exe so that new people at modifing their computer could easly change the button. Someone probably has already done that though so you might look up on the web if you are intrested but a little scared that you might mess up. Just dont download anything that looks like it has viruses or might mess up your computer. As for Style Xp it shold work if you just edit the theme file (you know extract the zip change it up then re-zip and import into style XP). That is how most themes are made for Style XP. Style XP would be the best way to go (but I think it costs money I can't remember).Hope this helps,Sparkx
  16. I have looked all over Google and I can't find a single example of a 3D Model loader for java that works on the web. I have been making the 3D models just fine I just can't figure out how to display them using Java. I did find one place that allowed me to make a wire frame of my Model, is it easy to change from wire frame to colored model? Whenever I try posting all my other java examples on the web I get applet errors like "Applet notinted". It is driving me a little crazy looking for an example code. Once I have found an example code I can look through it and figure out how to program myself. I have gone through some online tutorials but I don't like them because you spend 1-2 hours reading a real wordy tutorial just to find out that the final product doesn't work. If anyone knows where to find or has a source to a java model loader then could you please post the link. That would really help Thanks very much,SparkxNote: -I am looking for the .java source not .class-I am currently using .obj files to model but I can switch to other formats if I need to.
  17. Nice tutorial. Personally I have done this before on my computer but I found no real use for it (unless you really want to change up your computer and show off). At one time I simply modify my entire computer using a some software I found on the internet. I switched back to normal because I have become used to windows XP default theme even thought it's boring. One thing I havent found out is how to make it your start button an image (like in windows vista). Do you know how to do that or can it just be plain white text? The biggest thing is to always backup your registry and explorer.exe. I dont know what I would do if I messed something up. I guess you would just need to re-install windows or try loading from "last settings that worked".Just a few things I noticed, 10 letters seems like a little much for the start button? I have only tried with 5 and even then it looks a little odd.Again cool tutorial,Sparkx
  18. I think you can get listed simply by having a meta tag on you site. Google doesn't use meta tags however to rank (I dont think they do at least). The only way to improve you listing on google is to have links onto your site. Google check how many link are directed at your site then calcuates some odd forumla to find you ranking. Paying google does NOT get your site listed higher on google. You can however pay to get your site in the sponsored section of google (which is like moving your website up the list). Using adwords is anouther way to get traffic from other sites simalar to yours.Back to getting a better listing, I think it is against googles TOS to use "link farms" to get a higher ranking for your site but you might want to check that before you sign up for something that clames to get you ranked higher on google. Thanks,Sparkx
  19. It is not possible to stop or go back in time (at least I don't think it is). Hover I think you can slowdown time. I agree with you that going in time would be an un-ending loop of events unless somehow we found out that time wasn't always linear (which in that case may be possible but the human brain probably couldn't understand it). That would be a good base for some sci-fi movie. Anyway... It is thought that as you speed up time slows down (I don't know how or why). I figure if you could find a way to go the speed of light (which is not possible because of pressure) you could "stop" time. But the closer you get to that limit the slower time passes. Now this has no real meaning other then transportation to some far off location (as in not in this solar system). If time travel was possible what (as in going back in time), the government would probably keep it real secret, so I guess the average person like me will never know if this is possible or not. Thanks,Sparkx
  20. I am currently using a 3D cad software to make models. I want to know if it and how it is possible to load 3D models using Java. I would like to make a game in java (I know I should be using OpenGL for this, but Java seems more secure). Now I have been looking all over the web (And Amazon books) for how to load 3D objects. I think java has loaders that convert objects into java objects but I can't figure how to use them. I have tried using Java 3D and a bit of JOGL but I have very little knowledge about them other then making basic things like cubes (not models). Is there a good tutorial that anyone knows about that goes over Loading and displaying a 3D object in java? I really want to start java programming and I learn best with source examples. Also if anyone knows any good books please post there title. All help is welcome. Thanks in advance,SparkxEDIT:I am currently using jdk1.6.0_03 as recomended. I have also installed Java 3D. I have made little progress with learning to program I keep getting errors Whenever I compile a simple 3D project I get "Applet <name> notinited" while using firefox or IExplorer and I get "could not instantiate" while using Opera. Has anyone had simalure problems? Maby my registry got messed up when I was editing Environment Variables? What could I do to "fix" my computer so it compiles 3D correctly. Thanks Again
  21. I didn't know they posted 9/11 soo quickly after it happened. I would think that people would be in soo much shock they would forget to upload it for a few hours. I remember when the 2nd plane hit, that was on live news accross the nation (in the US at least).Anyway... There are lots of wierd videos and jokes on the web. I like when google does jokes like the cheese on the moon or their free unlimited bandwidth internet for april fools 2007. I think youtube probably has some of the funniest thing on the web you just need to look for them. I got an email a few mounths ago that compairs operating systems to airlines. That would probably be one of the wierdest things I have seen (most of you have probably gotten the same email). Thanks,Sparkx
  22. Thansk. I have been having trouble with this still. I get some errors like App notinted or something along those lines. Could anyone post the entire code for connecting and displaying entries. Just say I have a mysql database (on Xisto) called testdb (I guess the name doesn't matter I could alway change it). Then display all the entries for Name that are in testdb. I learn best by jumping right into the code so you don't neccissarly need to explain it (although that would help) but what I am looking for is a complete source (unless that is to long). I have worked with mysql lots in php but for some reason when I upload my java files I can't get them to work.Thank you very much,SparkxNote: I am not exactly sure if the error I am getting is related to the script at all it may be something with my compiler. I have gotten the error on other project also that don't connect to databases, however my compiler works on simple projects still.
  23. Now I am a compleate newbie to java. Now just from saying that I will get posts that say "read the basics first" ect. I know the basics but the way I learn isn't just by going over basics. What I want to do/know is if it is possible to connect to a MySQL Database using java. Is it possible and if so how? Tutorials and links to tutorials are welcome along with maby a list of required packages and an example code of connecting/selecting data. This is for MySQL not SQL (I don't know if there is a major difference in java or not). I am currently using SDK1.4.2_16. I have various other packages installed already. I know the basics about java (in 3D at least) but I am compleatly clueless on Java connection to mysql. I think it has something to do with JDBC but I might be wrong. Thanks for all the help,Sparkx
  24. I agree with DigitalDingo Area 51 is just a test site for the US Military. I think the whole alien thing was a way to scare people from going there (back before it was heavily protected). I guess it kind of had the opposite affect in a way. I think Area 51 is where the US stores their military equipment like tanks and bombers ect. I may be wrong about that though. I have heard that they are developing new war technology there, in a safe place in the middle of the dessert. This probably because they dont want other countries to find their ideas before they use them. It may also be because they don't want to in danger civilians with toxic material (of-course that is probably not the case after all we are talking about the US army). As for the aliens I have no clue why someone in the generation would even believe for a second that aliens have come to earth. The government may just want to put out a secretive feeling to other countries so the US seems like they are up to something. I think it is possible (quite possible) that they are studying microscopic "alien" organisms that have come off of a comet, but nothing that would affect the average human. They may keep that secrete so that if they are wrong they don't make the US look completely stupid. We will probably never know that truth about what is up with area 51 but some day we will get a better idea. Thanks,Sparkx
  25. IPB is way better then PhpBB. It is easy to navigate in my opinion and takes more then just mysql inserts to hack. PhpBB has had it's main site hacked. IPB may not have as much stuff as PHPBB (as in mods) but it has what most people need. If modifications meen enough to you that you are willing to put your forum in harms way then you probably shouldn't be on the web. The way I see it is I would rather have a smooth running forum with few mods then a jam packed forum with every mod, but is easy to hack. You should probably compair IPB with vBulletin rather then the free PhpBB. They seem more like competiters then phpbb and IPB do because vBulletin and IPB both cost money. If you wanted to compair free you should compair PhpBB, Invision Free, IceBB and Simple Machines. Thanks,Sparkx
