  1. Thanks for the reply :)we would be doing everything unique, fresh designs and code, of course i have features like shoutboxes, login, registration forms etc... all saved up ready to be integrated but they would all be customized.Ive seen one advert for an e-commerce site starting at ?900 which is damn expensive in my eyes!So far the votes are pretty even so thats interesting
  2. If you only noticed the problem of seeing the title bar but no content recently then its actually because of some server issues that have been going on. But if its the red "Board error message" or whatever, then thats the need for approval or deleted post. But since a few days ago we have been having a few issues with post not being shown and crashed databases etc
  3. Hum.. i dont know how long this shoutbox bug has been around, but in theory if there are time sensitive scripts, which the sessions and posting scripts would be, then it could presumably escalate and cause crashes because of clashing data etc...But the shoutbox bug could have been around forever and completely innocent!
  4. I realize this topic is fairly old but i think this could be of use to others and so im posting it anyway :)I think the best way to watermark it is simply to get your image open in the GIMP, go to the layers window (CRTL+L) Add new layer (transparent background) then use the text tool to type your name or whatever (or paste a logo) then move it to where you want. Go back to the layers window and turn the transparency down to 40% and keep changing it till you get the level you want. Then to permanently water mark it (you may want to keep an original and use Save As to turn this into a copy) in the layers window, right click on the top layer and click "merge down" And job done!As i said, best use the Save As, rather than Save, so that you can keep the original as it is, with no watermark.
  5. Ah odd! Thanks anyway, at least i know its not just me. Seems a rather random bug but there ya go!
  6. The above error is probably because you posted in the Internet forum and all posts there need to be approved by a mod to be seen, while they are waiting to approve the post it comes up with that error. There is still some instability i noticed, just had a few seconds of downtime and IPS errors but its getting better, i really hope it gets sorted soon!
  7. I too was concerned about the name when i first joined, especially as i was going to get free hosting that is easily worth ?50/year! But alas there was nothing to be worried about... Well except the random bear traps, you wanna be careful of those but seriously the name works, its easy, it s catchy and it means something, and as for renaming it.... Well i wont even go there! Itd be a disaster!
  8. Hi guys, this is bugging me now! Whenever i post in the shoutbox at first it displays the right time, presumably while it saves to the DB and refreshes as the smilies dont come up straight away either, then it seems to add about 30 minutes to the time!I have my forum time settings set correctly and obviously it goes into the shoutbox script correctly but the script or DB must somehowe alter it to make it half hour or so later?Any ideas?EDIT: It adds exactly 39 minutes to my time stamp for some reason
  9. I tell ya, the easiest way is to download the FLV in any way you want and use a flash converter (google FLV to MP3 converter) and it just turns it into MP3, of course stripping the video content out and preserving just the audio. There are so many ways to do this that this thread could get very long...
  10. Hi there, im a website developer, i write in HTML, CSS, JS and PHP/MYSQL so i can provide you with the features you need and integrate things like a forum and sort out some hosting. I know a designer who may be able to provide a unique design too. But i work it as a business so err... theres a price
  11. Back to the original post... is there a javascript send mail function? Or a way to do it? Im sure that i wanted to send an email from a page but didnt know PHP so i got a JS one but it gave an alert to the user asking for permission to send it, and so i learned PHP and here i am today able to do so much from just the desire to send an email!
  12. I like winge and complain despite the fact im pretty content with my life. I moan about EVERYTHING! Immigrants, people parking in disabled places when theyre not disabled, people leaving trolleys in parking spaces, chavs, old people, middle-aged people, crap adverts, crap TV shows, annoying celebs like freaking beckham and mostly the stupidity of governments including my (UK) shambles of a government and the ridiculous US administration. Team killers in games, basically if you name it i will moan about it :)That being said i am a pretty positive person, i do have the view though that if i always expect the worst ill never be disappointed! But there ya go, i dont like working with negative people who are like "oh we will never meet that deadline" Because they are right, if we all thought like that then no-one would ever meet a deadline... but there ya go!
  13. Completely agree, for a start they could add sites that are visited more than X times a week to a list, all sites on this list have their cookies retained. They could also separate the "delete cookies" from "delete history" it really doesnt take a genius.... and think how many bookmarks you need... its just silly, the bookmark list has obe function, to enable you to quickly re-visit the sites you like without typing an address. Cmon microsoft. WAKE UP! the private browsing is a good, and unique idea, however with different profiles on fiefox its not hard to set one up to be just as private as this new feature. but we will see. I wont be switching back to Ie though
  14. Mail() does indeed work at T17 The reason many hosts dont allow it, especially the free ones, is it is too easy to abuse. you can easily use the mail function to send lots of spam, hundreds a minute so most free hosts dont allow it. As for alternatives i dont think there are any in PHP as there is no real need for an alternative! @sheetal: Have you tried setting the HTML into a variable like this: $html = "<HTML> My content here</HTML>";mail("enail@email.com", "subject", $html); HTML sends fine in PHP though ive never tried sending Iframes. The only reason i can see for this not working is that the email provider, eg hotmail, has disabled the use of Iframes. You can test this by setting up your own mail server and using that for testing, but its a little complex.... My gut feeling is that the email provider has disabled the use of frames and Iframes, and to be fair i dont see much use for them in an email
  15. Hes happy with T17, hes saying that the text by the credit read out saying the link to Xisto - Web Hosting is wrong, it links to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ instead of Xisto - Web Hosting.com If you let opaque know he can correct it. otherwise CH wont get so many clicks! Good find HellaTruvios, and welcome to the forums
  16. Hi folks, me and a guy from college are looking into starting a new website creation/design business. He is brilliant with design and plenty good with HTML and CSS, JS isnt bad and flash is on the hitlist for both of us. I specialize in PHP, MYSQL and my HTML and CSS skills are strong, JS isnt bad and some minor AJAX too. Together we can do some good stuff. The current job is an e-commerce site, and is going well A previous job was a ticket company that acts a billboard for users to post details of tickets they dont want anymore along with contact details so other users can email them and arrange to buy these tickets. It was a really click site if i say so myself I hand coded an admin area, registered users are and a non-members area, all with different options, lists of tickets (the admin had to approve them etc...) and im damn proud of it! So basically what im saying is technically we are skilled enough to pull this off. We dont have formal education in the website field but we have enough experience... so anyway...I need to do a bit of market research so we can tailor our prices accordingly. We are aiming idealy and small to medium business who need websites for any purpose from e-commerce, client/customer interaction (eg contact forms etc...), advertising and general public relations (such as displaying info to customers/clients like contact details, company mission statements etc...) We hope to move up the ladder and target bigger companies and hopefully the demand gets to a point where we need to employ others to take the work load. He has clients in both design and coding that can take the heat if we get overloaded! I have requested 6 quotes just to see what other companies would charge but i want to ask the customers/clients what they think. So please answer the poll above honestly and add your advice/comments/questions below. Note: currently im not "advertising" the business here, at the moment we are working on a plan, then i may well offer some cut price websites if we can work something out :PAlso what sort of things would you expect for your website? As i said im skilled in PHP so i can easily add any type of form to collect data, send emails, even read emails so that includes user registration, shoutbox, contact forms, confirmation emails/"tell a friend", user profile pages, galleries, i can stretch to making a PM system too :DWhat else would you like in terms of features? Flash intros/banners? Advertising solutions (like google adwords or banner rotation systems)? The more info you provide the more you help me out :PEDIT: Thanks for answering my Poll If you could let me know why you chose what you chose that would be great! Please?!
  17. Ive been to karate a couple of times, one time the place didnt suit me and the second time the person i was going with, and getting a lift from (i dont drive) didnt want to go anymore so i couldnt. But i will soon have money and hopefully will be starting Wing Chun. My reasons for doing so are: Self confidence, always a good thing. Get fit, i currently have no exercise. Learn to protect myself, the people around me, my properties and my beliefs, im a fairly outspoken person and i need the ability to back myself up should someone get a bit cocky. I agree that martial arts arent the ultimate self defence skill, nothing is. If you get stabbed a black belt is only as good as a bandage. But in martial arts they dont go "right, this guy has a knife, i want you to run towards him screaming, kick him in the face, break his wrist and stab him in the eye" it will be more like "if a guy has a knife, get out of there, if you cant then do what he asks, if it turns into rape etc... or gets too serious to do what he asks then take his wrist, do this, do that and run"Martial arts ARE about defence, not about offence, or revenge. Some of the techniques you see, for example in wing chun, block the punch, throw them to the floor, stamp on their head and then choke them with your legs, might seem VERY harsh, but if that guy has a gun are you gonna punch him in the face and run hoping he doesnt put a hole in your back? Or are you going to make sure, that no matter how hard he tries YOU are going home in one piece. Martial arts can be violent, no doubt, but you wouldnt use the above technique for some cocky little kid that called you gay...You would have the discipline and confidence to let him laugh at your back as you walk away and not fall to his level and kick the turd out of him!So i would request that the OP does some research. I also realise he has only one post, two weeks ago... I dont think he will be responding.
  18. Hahahahaha i dont blame you! But eggs and pepper are damn good! But remember to always buy free range eggs! None of this battery or caged hen crap, not good for anyone! When you think where our food comes from it makes you think twice, i mean some people wouldnt cook a sausage if it fell on the floor, despite the sausage is full of tendons, fat and meat that all came from a smelly cow, covered in bacteria, poo, dirt and insects.... Or bread... the get some seeds from a field, crush them and then you eat them, yet we would be reluctant to eat bread that we hadd left outside for even an hour, even if we toasted it!We are weird creatures!
  19. Aye, i didnt mention possible consequences but hes right!you cant gain unauthorized access, cause damage or loss of data etc... but you CAN perform a denial of service attack on a server provided your only motivation and goal is to stop people accessing it. Of course you then get sued for loss of earnings, but its still not illegal in the UK! I wouldnt try it though!
  20. It sounds like it was the update then, they replaced the function of the button on the headset to start audio INPUT (you speaking) instead of OUTPUT (music etc..) Your best bet would probably be to consult the manufacturers forum and see if A) your headset is compatible and if there is now an alternate way to transfer the output to the headset. On my phone, an old nokia, i can do it either by pressing the headset button or, during a call, by going to my call options (which is where the hold, hang up, mute etc... options are) and switching it to the headset there.
  21. In terms of security nothing is 100% ever 99% perhaps but never 100, so there are certainly ways around this system, bnut it wont be easy. One option is to set up your own proxy server on a web host that uses port 80, the standard HTTP port. you could then use perhaps a flash system to act as ther proxy and call the flash file something like "banner001.flv" or something inconspicuous and fill your website with meta tags like "resources, learning, school, college, education, search" etc... Many systems work on identifying meta tags like "gaming, games" etc... and block those sites, so more often than not you can get past them easy enough. Another option is with your own website have all the text as image files, most software wont or cant scan image files for text in any way to identify what it says, only humans can read it. Another way is to gain admin rights, sometimes very easy to do but beware of "honeypot" accounts, eg username:admin password:admin Many accounts like that seem to the result of stupid admins but most are the complete opposite, they know that password will be guessed, and when it is the IP of the person that logged into it is saved and you get in trouble for doing it. But if you gain genuine control then you can allow a certain port or close it on your pc. One way we found of shutting down the monitoring software (it showed the teacher all the screens of all the PCs in the room, and other rooms so they could spy on us) was to open a folder, then Right Click> properties > find target that bypassed the restrictions on navigation to C:\ in the address bar. Once past that wall we could roam freely to the software's folder, open the control panel and shut it down, all within 30 secs. So if you can do that, give it a go.another option is to bring in your own browser like firefox. Most software is configured only for IE or the primary browser on the network, so using a different one can confuse it.and the last option is to encrypt all the data from the website to your PC, this could be done with a browser, if such a browser/addon exists or you could write a custom program, but it wont be easy.My advice is just to cope with it and use the restricted net at college/school and play games etc when you get home, but i understand the frustration of being restricted
  22. Thats a fair point, i ve just seen the example SQL and this is what i would do, first do what i said above and get the data into the variable. then do a str_replace function on that variable to swap the "INSERT table_x" with "INSERT table_timestamp" or whatever you wanted. EG: $data // this is our data variable that contains the SQL file we got from my first lot of codestr_replace("table_x", "table_5/07/08", $data); //search for "table_x" replace it with a table name of your choice Of course it all depends on exactly what the name of the table is within their SQL file, but you get the idea. And cronjobs cant really help with this, all it does is run a script, so first you have to write the script, then tell cronjobs where it is and when to run it, its basically the task scheduler in windows.
  23. Well i dont think the meaning is anything to do with nazis or nazi occupation etc.. i just think that because you live in poland you are obviously educated well about the nazi era and it is more prevalent in your society. Instead i think the meaning related to how you and jacob were, you were holding each other, and the same happened when you met your other friend, you just held on tightly. And i think this is the meaning of the dream. You are perhaps scared of loosing your friends or someone/something very close to you? And the nazis simply represent a bad force, influence or person that is the reason you are loosing them, and as i said, that force takes the form of nazis as they are probably well ingrained into your mind anyway, so it is logical. Joining the resistance could well relate to what you want to do about it, you want to fight back and not alone. Are you perhaps loosing touch with jacob or another friend? Perhaps due to that persons parents or partner? If so i think it is them that jacob in the dream refers to.It could also have something to do with jacob being deaf, perhaps you feel you have lost "touch" through his deafness and the nazis are deafness, slowly taking jacob away from you? These are just my ideas, im no expert and dream interpretation really requires that you know more about the person such as how the feel emotionally and any significant events in their life.
  24. when i first saw this post i thought it was one of those " i was a size 10, now im a size zero, read my story!" But after reading it id like to say, good on you! Im overweight, perhaps obese, and i do want to loose weight, but i just love food! i would like to start some excercise and haver ear marked Wing Chun (martial art) as my method, as it will give me confidence, excercise, and the ability to defend myself, but its ?35/$60ish per month and im currently unemployed (though ive been invited to a second interview so its looking good!) so for the moment thats off the cards so its calorie counting! The thing is because i love food so much its hard! I do like healthier foods but i tend to eat a lot of takeaways as i live at home and my mum orders them, of course i could just cook myself a meal but its easier not to, thats going to change though. What sort of foods would you recommend? Im thinking something like: Tea in the morning with two sugars (gotta have my tea!) 2 egg whites (all the calories are in the yolks, so ill get rid of them or just have one with two whites) on bread, thats about 180 calories (bread is about 90, egg white=0ish) then for lunch perhaps a sandwich, would be about 200 cals methinks, maybe 220 with low fat butter spread. For snacks im thinking cereal, or cereal bars, about 100 cals in a bar i think. But my big problem is dinner...As i said i love my food so i cant just eat one chicken breast and some lettuce! I do like things like pasta, rice and jacket potatoes, i just dont know how healthy they are. I know they contain a lot of carbs and starch, starch of course turns into sugar once in the body. I also cant eat pasta rice and potatoes all week! ill go mad! But i do love chicken which is a very good diet meat, especially when grilled and i do have a grill. Im also thinking that for takeaways i can stick to chicken shish kebabs (the real kebabs that are chunks of chicken grilled with salad and bread) which i reckon might only be a couple hundred cals. And if we have a Chinese i can have a boiled rice and a curry, which is a lot better than a fried rice and fried meat. It's something i really want to do but i do love food and it does make me happy, among other things, and i dont see the point of living life if you dont enjoy yourself, but perhaps thats just an excuse to eat what i like and ignore the problem. As soon as i get employed i will restart my car lessons so getting to exercise places will be much easier, i can also afford a pedal bike then as i live near a country park and can easily go for a 2 hour bike ride, which i think is probably 6 miles or maybe more, which is really good. And as i said i also plan on taking up a martial art and doing perhaps 3 hours of that a week as the ?35/month fee is for unlimited lessons at all venues so i can easily do 3 hours a week or more. What would you suggest?
  25. welcome! When you get a minute read the T17 README file, essential reading there, the forums are fairly strict but its good, keeps the spammers and silly children out so you can expect a very sensible and mature forum The hosting is all great, as you can see im hosted and have been for a while now, excellent stuff considering its free!
