  1. Neither lifting weights nor "pure" martial arts will save you on the street. Both will certainly give you an advantage but a self-defense class is still 10 times better than either one. To defend yourself on the street you gotta learn how to defend against somebody who doesn't care about rules and who is potentially stronger than you. No martial arts course or amount of weight lifting can replace a self-defense course. But then again the best way to defend yourself is to not even look attackable, in other words: know where you're going, avoid dangerous areas as best as you can, be aware of what's going on around you and don't get drunk if you know you'll be walking around in a high-risk part of town.
  2. I just learned about this site and I love it, I didn't have any problems with loading or lagging... the suggestions are amazingly accurate and to the point. I tested it with a few different styles and lesser known artists and must say I have been very positively surprised. I also like that fact thatm besides playing stuff one likes, it can introduce you to new artists you didn't previously know. This is especially useful for musical genres which were "before your time" so to speak (i.e. before you were born). The only thing I'm missing is an option to select certain attributes and then create a station that plays songs conforming with those attributes. I think this would allow more experimenation to find interesting stuff than just going by artists and/or songs.
  3. same old puramid scam... most importantly it is NOT legal in the states
  4. Goosestaf is right, you can probably save a lot if you buy from someone else/build it yourself. As far as your original question goes: No, no game needs it (yet) to have a great gaming experience. Of course if you have a huge screen or multiple monitors the quad will give you a tremendous boost in performance and allow you to play with higher quality graphics, which will somewhat increase the gaming experience.
  5. Wow great job on the site! I'd also like to know how you implemented the menu and the content, since as Inspiron said, everything appears without flickering.
  6. Everybody says that... try not somking for 2 weeks, see if you'll still say it. Oh btw, if ever during those 2 weeks you feel a strong crave for a ciagarette (nevermind giving in to the crave) you are addicted.
  7. Yeah I forgot that, that is very important otherwise only audi CDs in the drive will play on that jack.
  8. I agree with mozzer, your system won't work. The main problem is that compressed air isn't just floating around. To compress it we need to put energy into it, and then we use that energy to drive the car. What is providing the energy to compress the air? As mozzer pointed out... in the end you'll be back to oil. Also if you use 4 pistions to drive the car and one to power the compressor, the compressor only has enough energy to recompress enough air to fill one piston.
  9. Photographty is a very expensive hobby if you want to do it right. It also requires a lot of experience to get great shots, nowadays a lot can be done in Photoshop, but it still is a challenge to capture great scenes without any afterediting.I also like spell-checkers and correct grammar.
  10. tried different speakers (headphones)? Just pluging in a pair of speakers shouldn't mess up the sound drivers, what might have happened is some sort of static discharge ruined the soundcard, but in that case the onboard sound should work. Sometimes onboard devices need the correct drivers installed too, did you have those installed?
  11. - how naive does on have to be to actually belive in those? it's not even funny! Most of these are just based on simple comparison of the letters in the names... some don't even go that far and return different results for the same name if you run them multiple times...
  12. Well in that case I guess my post is redundant but I ran a search for "Internet Explorer Beta" and the first 3 pages did not turn up anything related...
  13. This is kinda old already... but since I couldn't find a post about it, I'm gonna let you know anyways. Microsoft has released the beta of Internet Explorer 7 to the public. The latest build is from March 20th and can be found here. IE now finally includes tabbed browsing and a lot of other features. It also will be separted from Windows Explorer in the upcoming Vista OS! During the installation one needs to validate one's Windows version through Microsofts Genuine Advantage Tool. Since this is known to sometimes cause trouble and not validate legal users and for all those who prefer to install new software (especially from MS) while offline, here is a workaround from the jcxp.net forums: And here is a link to the whole topic: Internet Explorer 7 Build 5299 (Beta 2 Preview), Screenshots, ***NO Download Links!*** Personally I think its a step in the right direction but a lot still remains to be done. I'm not gonna get rid of Firefox anytime soon. It's still nice to be up-to-date Notice from mayank: Merged into the main article
  14. I've so far not used any calendars but have lately been thinking about it, and this comes just at the right time for me. I've had a quick look and must say so far it looks not bad at all.
  15. I can see all of that but it doesn't explain what google is doing with the-mpaa.com? Still looking for an possible explication of that.
  16. One word: SCAM.How I hate all those one-post-I-wanna-make-easy-money-with-referals. The sad thing is they always get so much attention...IMHO posts like this should be deleted and the memeber banned. Just removing the referal isn't enough. Somebody who makes a post like that obviously doesn't care about the rules, never took the time to read them and only registered to spam his referal link. Sometimes I wonder how they manage to even make it to the money forum.... They make me wanna scream all kinds of obscenities... mostly the F one... in big bold capitalized letters.
  17. Actually a quick whois on the Google IP shows us that google owns a whole lot more than just 466453.com: In the following list I highlighted a few very interesting ones:
  18. Yeah sounds pretty much the same as pdfCreator, might give it a try.
  19. It also costs 500$ and unless your excrements consist of quarters you can't just pull 500$ out of your pocket.
  20. Nicely done, gets the feeling across.
  21. you could maybe pull a few of the subsections together into one site, such as radio&video, guitar&lyrics, etc.
  22. Well, by unorganized i mean, there is a relatively small amount distributed among a huge space. You could probably fit everything into a somewhat smaller space so one gets a better overview without having to do scrolling. Also with the resolution I use (1680x1250) your page gets pulled apart completelty, i.e the tables spread horizontaly over the whole page which adds to the impression that your space is not well used, you might try organising it in a fixed width table.
  23. Hmmm... looks a bit unorganized to me, too much on one page. Also the design is a bit too simple, there is nothing holding the page together, work on that.I have a question though: Are you making any money off that page?
  24. Adobe Photoshop is probably your best bet, it's not too hard to achieve that kind of effect with a few filters used the right way.
  25. This idea is basically impossible for a few reasons. As other pointed out, the amount of energy to be transmitted is HUGE, microwaves (current wireless frequencies) become kind of very dangerous after a certain treshold, nevermind prolonged exposer to of it(even for lower levels). For exemple your wireless card transmits at .035 watts (standard) your pc needs around 300 Watts which basically amounts to a small microwave oven. Imagine just running one pc off of that... not a good idea. Another problem is of course a tremendous loss of energy due to disipation. In space an omni-directional wireless signal disipates its energy proportional to the square of the distance it has traveled. Not a good idea to have to transmit at 900 Watts just to get the pc running which is 5 meters away, you'd need to buy a powerplant just for yourself. A way to get around this problem is of course a directional transmission, in the fashion of a laser... but I don't want to know what happens when my cat accidentially jumps into an invisble 300 Watt laser... nevermind that every fly can interrupt your powersupply (every fly would be able to do that only once of course but there are enough flies out there). I think I'll stick my good ol' cables. I think wireless electricty transmission is pretty much out of the question at the moment until somebody finds a new technology... maybe something neutrino based, who knows?! Israel has already been using those plants for a while...
