  1. I'm not even gonna bother to explain it again... if it is truely random then no matter how many reds there have been, chances are still 50/50. The mistake in your reasoning is very common among poeple who don't really understand complex probability. It is the reason why casions keep making money... go to a math forum, they'll rip you apart and so should your math teacher. I've had this in math class 3 years ago and I've had a lot of math since. And I didn't fail the class.
  2. sandeep89, ask your math teacher about this, he'll tell you you are wrong... and if you don't believe him go to a math forum they'll tell you.even after 500 consecutive reds the probability of hitting black or red are still 50/50. If your way of reasoning would really work there would be no casinos. The probability of getting x reds is .5^x The probability of getting (x+1) reds is .5^(x+1) If you divide the probabilty of getting x reds (which you already have) by the probability of getting x+1 reds you get a ratio of 1/2 (this works for every x, even 0) which means that after you already had x reds in ever 1 out of 2 times you'll get a (x+1)th red. This means that no matter how many consecutives of one color there have been, the chances of getting another one of the same color are 50%. Which is exacty the same as just completely ignoring all the previous ones and guessing outright. As you say yourself "one outcome does not have an effect on the next", exactly... no matter what all the previous results have been, chances are still 50/50 of getting either red or black.Basically, what it boils down to is the following.. once you already have 13 reds in a row, chances are 50% you'll get 14 reds in a row, but expecting to get 14 reds in a row if you haven't rolled at all yet is unrealistic. once you already have 3 or 13 or x reds in a row you can't use that probability anymore to calculate the next event, because it already happened and they are unrelated events if it is truely random.
  3. yeah that's true alot of poeple don't want to disclose their gender, although I really can't see why one wouldn't want too, it's not like giving out a credit card number or anything.
  4. Other than it's completely useless to do it every 15 days... yeah the more often you do it the better you get. I'll correct this a little: 1- make sure you have a bootable xp cd, every legal version should fulfil this criteria 2- go into the bios and make sure "boot from cd" is enabled, respectively that your cd drive is selected as a boot drive 3- turn off, insert cd, turn on, hit any key to boot from cd when it asks you to 4- follow instructions and install windows You don't need to create a floppy disk nowadays, PCs can boot from the cd and you can format your drive during the installation.
  5. Sounds interesting enough, might give it a try.. although the "free" factor is a huge plus for spybot.
  6. Interesting pool, looking forward to seeing the results... I remember a couple years back that this kinda pool always produced results close too 100% guys. Will be interesting to see if it has changed some by now.
  7. I agree with the mod, some more insight into why you think it is that good would be helpful. So far I'm using Spybot, but I'm always on the lookout for better alternatives.

    Traffic

I find that with a bit of planning it usually possible to avoid bad traffic. Also it's a good idea to always have a map with you... so you can avoid it by using side roads in case of an unforseen jam.
  9. Nice tutorial, very useful. I'm currently working on a school project and I might just use this... looking forward to seeing the results.
  10. Of course, even Google can't afford to give everybody 2 GB of hosted webspace... the only reason why Gmail works is because 90% of poeple use less than 5% of the space. if they'd offer the same amount of space for their hosting package poeple would actuallly use it, maybe not all but certainly a whole lot more than 5%. Also keep in mind that a webpage creates a whole lot more bandwidth useage than if one just checks his mail.
  11. There are just too many good games out there... so here are a couple of my ALL TIME top games:Holiday Island (bets sim city clone ever!! beats the original)Gothic (1 & 2)UT 2004Of course there so much more great games out there but I think those are my personal favorites at least today... if you ask me tomorrow the list might be completely different.
  12. Haven't tried yet but i plan to if I can find the time.
  13. Because I don't have that much time to devote to a website and google ads don't pay off unless you you really have a whole LOT of visitors I want good money for the time I invest... building a website and depending on google ads is a risky investment and most likely it won't pay off enough to make up for the time invested.
  14. Has anybody else heard about these folks? I wonder how legit they are.
  15. I am very liberal on the issues of abortion and I think every woman (and in a lot of cases also the partner) should have the choice of abortion up to a certain point in time(around 3 months). As for partial birth abortion, I'm wondering why someone who waited 5 months, in some cases more, should still be able to abort the child. 5 months is too late, at some point you have to take resposability and say yes I will do it or no I won't. One can't wait forever. 2 month is enough time to decide whether you want an abortion or not. The only exception of course is when suddenly the life or health of the mother is serverly endangred, in that case, in my opinion it is always the life and health of the mother first.
  16. Well I'm gonna add myself to the list...University dorm: Comcast with roughly 8 Mbit down/512 Kb up, i don't know the exact valuesGirlfriends place: Comcast 6Mbit package (6000/384)Back home in Luxemburg: DSL with 2 Mbit down/256 Kbit up
  17. Well let's see... all my answer are for UT 2004 and even though I've played non-standard maps I still like the standard ones the best.Best overall map IMHO: MorpheusCTF: Face Classic (This map just kicks so much **bottom**, especially in man vs bot matches)Deathmatch, TD, LMS, Mutant, Invasion: MorpheusBombing Run: AnubisOnslaught: SeveranceAssault: Fallen CityDouble Domination: no idea I don't play it a lot
  18. I use it an can only confirm that it is very useful. 2 thumbs up for that extension.
  19. My girlfriend an I just recently got broadband cable and since we already had our pc's networked together we decided that the easiest thing to do and to save money would be to use ICS. Unfortunately the Windows XP ICS uterly sucks, especially if one tries to get it to work over an ad-hoc wireless connection. So I started to look around and I came across this nifty little tool called CCproxy. It acts as a proxy on the computer sharing the network connection and it works like a charm. They have a free version which supports up to 3 users at the same time and is otherwise unlimited. It works like a charm and everything is fully configurable. I can fully recommend it and anyone who has ever tried to mess with Winodws' internal ICS will know how much such a little tool can help. Now on to my question... is there a way so that instead of having to configure all my programs one by one to use the proxy, every program automatically uses the proxy? Is there any way so that when a program tries to connect to the internet, the connection is automatically routed toweards the proxy?
