Maximum Adsense Per Day! The max. cash youve made in a day?
catfish replied to freesoul's topic in Search Engines
don't use adsense personally. (well, not yet at any rate)i do wonder what a place like Xisto rakes in though =p -
it would probably be easiest to do in flash, imo. something like these guys have: (top right after the splash/intro) http://www.2advanced.com/ sadly i don't know enough flash to tell you how to do it outright. (and adding new songs might be a bit of a problem.) some food for thought.

Yet Another Design Here We Go Again :D
catfish replied to Plenoptic's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
It could definatly use a better banner. Something to give the site some flair.just an abstract piece or something of the sort (the things that seem to be on every other website nowadays.) your trying to advertise your services (as i take it?) you want your main site to be as enticing as possible. When i visit your site i should think "holy *BLEEP* that is nice" not eh, its alright. imo i would work the middle column differently: basically use each sections for news/updates (each significant update gets its own section, w/ 3-4 of them) and then have the middle column change on the sub pages to include the various details. finally for the google ads i'd stick one of the lengthwise banners at the bottom, without giving it its own "Section" just plop it right ontop of the background. hope this is helpful, if a bit discombobulated -
well is it like that everywhere? (not just futureshop?)but yea it does sound stupid, but then again it probably doesn't cost them (the store) more for the collection then the expansion/generals.not like its anything to complain about of course... when big corperations screw up its us lowly consumers that win out.

Your Nature According To Your Birth-date Of Month

ah, the wonders of chain-letter fortune telling =p Notice from BuffaloHELP: Xisto forum asks you to post contributes with quality, not quantity. -
imo unless you get a distinctly better offer from a company wanting to buy advertising space, adsense is about as good as you can get: they aren't disruptive, no pop-ups etc. they are relevent (well, usually) also people are used to seeing them, so its more of a fact of life then having and advertisement shoved down your throat.ugly: maybe, depends on the layout i suppose, and they don;t clash too badly with most forums.your other 2 bads apply to most other forms of advertisment: traffic = money and placement is always hard. (unless its a button imo.)

Some people do it just out of habit, others do it as a way to make themselves unique. to give their posts a little character if you will. personally I find a graphical signature to be more than adequate to add character to my post. (which for some reason i haven't got around to turning on for these boards yet.) ~catfish ()

Amd is better (for gaming) for photoshop and office use, intel might have an edge there, but im not sure (nor do i especially care)why amd is better: lower clock = less heat, = better overclocking. also they are cheaper/performance.

It's a nice concept, but half the time you wind up needing a person there anyway becasue the thing wants to be a pain in the **bottom** =\

well thats to be expected, and in this particular case above most, you can even say its true. the holocaust et all pretty much fits the general definition of evil. i mean how much can you blame a counry for making movies that glorify itself a wee bit? dare i even talk about say, the russian propoganda? those movies w/ stalin landing in berlin etc. The USA is not so much different from every other country in the world every land was "stolen" from someone else. you claim america is based on blood, but how about europe? wars have been raging up and down the entirety of europ for the better part of the past 2000 years. (and probably a fair bit longer) and the us was responsible for all those civilains being killed? you make me laugh. the 2 bombs killed a grand total somewhere under/around 250,000: less then jap did during the rape of nanking, and is a whole hell of a lot less then the germans inflicted on the russians, whose civilian casulties (if i recall correctly) were in the TENS OF MILLIONS. so we are telling other nations to get rid of nukes, and you say that makes up hypocrits? hardly. any country by definition looks after number one, and you can hardly say an iran w/ nukes is a good idea. (esp after that wipe isreal off the map episode) In anycase MAD was not a factor back in wwII, a nuke was just another weapon. (not to mention a hell of a lot LESS powerful then a modern nuke.)

You people all have such a negative veiw on "warez"One peticular point which im surprised hasn't come up yet is that in many cases warez DOES NOT hurt the profit of the company. One major example would be photoshop: it runs $500 plus... now how many people are going to buy photoshop to do a banner for their website, or a sig for the forums? Any one doing any serious work would buy it because they can, and it is less risky. But by dl'ing it "illegaly" the product gets out to more people, which could even result in a greater profit for the company. (the product selling itself, as it were)Also there are several legitimate, legal uses for "warez" sites. say i have a legal copy of warcraft III, a no-cd crack would fall under the fair use claus, as would dl'ing a .iso (albeit it probably would be easier to make one) and then mounting it, to give the affect of a no-cd crack. Ditto with movies, say i have a vhs/dvd (and no dvd drive) By the fair-use clause i can (well actually i don't think it has been brought to court on this point) legally download a copy Van Hellsing so i can watch it on my computer.

No Ipb 2.1 In Cpanel? Cant seem to find it...
catfish replied to elevenmil's topic in Web Hosting Support
http://punbb.informer.com/ is a decent looking, free forum. Its less gfx based then like phpbb or ipb, so it should be a bit faster. Though i can't say i have any first hand experiance working with it. (just phpbb/vbulletin) -
Woman's Arms And Legs Amputated hospital wont say why.
catfish replied to beeseven's topic in General Discussion
also she can sue the hospital for getting her infected w/ the bacteria. It spreads by touch, therefore the hospital was lax on its sanitation. Which puts the responsibility directly on the hospital.Even if she can't win on a "they didn't ask me" case, she has a damn good suit for mal practice: probably in the 100's of millions, considering it cost her 4 limbs, and knowing how screwed up the legal system is =\ -
well if you can (as in it won't be too inappropriate, hope over to your neighbor's yard and use their hose to wash the soap/shampoo off. Also if their water is shut off you can be pretty sure that it isn't just you. (pipes break, need fixing, need adding on to, etc.)

DOA beach volley ball :)but more seriously I would just recomend the usualy, halo 2, project gotham racing, etc.basically just do some research on a game. (http://www.gamefaqs.com/ might help) and decide on wether it looks fun or not. As far as i know there aren't any "girl specific" games out there...

actually the company that makes it (metal storm) is australian, not American.(and coincidentally, they also made a gun capable of fireing 1,000,000 rounds per minute.)

Second Languages If you can only speak a certain language
catfish replied to Nani Cheri's topic in General Discussion
I do want to learn some german (just sounds so cool) but where is french on the list? Je parle un peu de francais, mais je veux plus apprendre. I also want to learn some latin, because unlike most of the other languages it has a more direct application to English and everyday life. (not that learning french hasn't helped my english.) -

Reverse Engineering ... I Need To Know All about Reverse Engineering
catfish replied to delivi's topic in Web Hosting Support
Reverse engineering of software is protected under the dmca for educational purposes under the fair use clause.Basically, if you want to reverse engineer "doom 3" then you have the right to. where things get "ugly" in the legal sense is what your allowed to do with what you reverse engineer. But for educational use it is expressly allowed.Tread lightly, copywrite laws are ugly -
Intelligent Design Vs. Evolution which should be taught in schools?
catfish replied to semeticsister's topic in The Vent
Just because Evolution might be wrong (it isn't, and is quite well evidenced at the micro-level if not the macro level.) doesn't give id any credit to its name. if a is not right that does not make b, c, d, e, f, or g right either. Religion cannot explain something(i presume you meant something?) coming from nothing. It is agaisnt all logic. Something(god) must come from something else. If there is nothing how can there be something?(god( I do love how matter cannot spring from thin air but god can... it is quite unlikely, yes. but so is winning the lottery. but yet people DO win the lottery. (obviously) experiments have concluded that the proposed life from water is theoretically plausible, (which ironically enough, is not-related to darwnism/evolution) by the creation of basic amino acids/organic compounds from a few gases (h2, ch4,n2,o2, etc.) and a little electricity. It should also be noted that it is possible that there was a simultanous evolution, that life "spawned" originally in more than once fashion, that it wasn't necessarily 1 single single celled organism that spawned all of life as we know it, it could have been 2, it could have been a dozen. (however "unlikely" such an act might be, we will probably never know.) Then what veiw of intelligent design do you propose? If a non-scientific theroy (id) deserves a spot in a science classroom so do all the other non-scientific theories/pseudo sciences. http://www.venganza.org/ would be one such theory. (which has just as much evidence as id, for the record.) Notice from serverph: fixed quote tags. PLEASE USE PREVIEW BEFORE POSTING. -
It looks pretty good, but a bit white for my taste. my crits: for the clock, you might want to get rid of the calender feature, or perhaps elongate the area slightly and have the date appear in a mm/dd/yy (or dd/mm/yy if thats your preferance) underneath. atm it seems a bit clumsy to me and not all that practicle, since you have to click, and then wait, for the information to show up.The clock does look quite nice though. Also for some reason. (firefox 1.5 1600x1024) I have a bottom scroll bar appearing on my screen for no apparent reason. (it all fits nicely) lastly the nav. menu could use some tweaking imo, not too much just a "depressed" mouse over image.

pulling the plug might cause some problems, but most computers these days are "smart" enough to not screw up just because you used the tower button. Also anything you do wind-up doing will only damage software, (99.9% of cases) so its nothing a format won't fix.

to geosync? ya right...im sorry, but your not going to build a tower 1,836,218 kilometers high... (and then some.)the energy you are going to need to send up an "elevator" is going to be no less then sending up a rocket. AND i seriously doubt that there would be enough of anything to build that relativly stable. not to mention you would have to replace billions in dollars of satalites that would be in the thing's way.plus some guy is going to blow it up from the base and the whole thing will come tumbling down...
