  1. Get the full story here. I was smiling all throughout while reading the story. I know some of you might think that squirrels are annoying (heck some may be shooting them in their backyards). It makes you think how quirky and clever these creatures are (and may I say picky too). To think the squirrel only chooses a certain type of chocolate everyday. Unfortunately, it doesn't know how to throw his leftovers properly.
  2. I always know bananas are very filling and if I want to end a meal prematurely (so I need not eat much), I always take one or two bananas, which really end up making me feel full. The variations of bananas give you different amounts of potassium; one of the variants here in my country is small, called Latondan, and you have to wait for it to ripen or it will leave a bitter taste on your mouth. That's one of the signs of the potassium content. [1]Now I know why I haven't experienced heartburn recently. Our helper has been buying some bananas as desert fruit after our meals, that means I get to eat some bananas. [2]When I was still in school doing my thesis, I usually buy a "hand" on bananas so I could eat after meals or while working in front of the computer. It sure does help, although I didn't realize it would have such effects. [3]This is similar to [1], except that heartburns can also be caused by overeating (getting a full stomach would push the intestinal fluid up, causing the acids to burn the bottom part of your esophagus, thus causing that burning sensation. The burning sensation is located almost below the heart, that's why it's called heartburn. I've heard before that you could also use bananas to lose weight and get rid of toxins out of your body. There was a banana regimen, but it was too weird---you have to eat one banana per meal on the first day then increase the banana by one the following day and so on, without eating other stuff, just bananas. They say it could make you lose the weight (definitely, after eating just bananas ).
  3. lol I remember one of my former classmates said that she was using her neighbor's connection, much like this one. Honestly, I don't think it's a good thing, but it's more of your neighbor's fault not putting up a security to prevent the usage of the wireless connection by others. On the other end of the spectrum, you could have at least told them about it and that you wish to share a connection (although I doubt they'll let you). But then, truefusion's right, getting your own subscription isn't that hard. Convincing the folks of the perks of using a high-speed connection to do stuff like surfing the internet for assignments, read emails, etc shouldn't be a problem. And if they don't allow you, doesn't give you the right to use other connection without permission. That's not called resourcefulness.
  4. Well that could work, especially if you have a lot of important work to do, but I remember a friend who couldn't concentrate unless he gets to smoke a cigarette every once in a while during work. He even interrupts me while we're conversing, saying he needs to take a break and "calm" himself down (by taking a cigarette of course). But the willingness to stop smoking is on the person, not just because you're doing something and you've "forgotten" about it. True, some people might be able to brush it away easily, but most people has made it a habit that it's quite difficult to get it off their system. I think there's a similar thread about "hating" smokers... Hate is such a strong word, and I guess that's one step away for "World Peace" But seriously, I don't think complete banning of smoking is the best thing to do. You can't really force smokers to not smoke, and some might not able to hold the urge long enough. Smoker areas are, I think, necessary, with proper air-filtration of course, because it's really difficult to be in a closed space without being able to see the opposite end of the table. I disagree. EVERY weight-challenged individual (you could include me on that) is ALWAYS under scrutiny. It's probably even more threatening than people scrutinizing smokers, as you claim. All over the world, doctors and nutritionists are giving out warnings to help decrease the growing numbers of obese people, giving information as how to lose weight, eat the right stuff and exercise. Why do you think there are a lot of exercise machines on your home TV shopping, or diet fads that may or may not help people lose weight? Why do you think there's such a thing as an eating disorder and why most people suffer from that? Of course, it may be on the physical level, that they're insecure on how they look, but that all boils down to the PRESSURE that is put on these individuals. True, smokers are scrutinized as if they're scum if they're seen smoking, but I don't think that equates to the glaring stares of almost everyone. Truly, you won't understand that from the statement that you gave.
  5. When I saw the topic title, I was like . Then I started to question if Google had anything to do with it good thing Buff clarified it. I think the last time I heard about this number was way back in grade school. My [math] teacher was giving us some trivia on... guess what? numbers
  6. I would say Jane Siberry's Calling All Angels. I've heard it somewhere before and I think it's a good funeral song (for me at least). It's not really a funeral song to begin with but it has this solemn feel to it. Most of the funerals here in my country are too... weird (for lack of a better term) and a bit outdated, in my opinion. If I'm not mistaken some were probably songs during the 70's or something.
  7. i haven't seen the video myself (despite the fact that i'm from the same country where that was made), but i see it on news almost the entire week last week. if i remember correctly, the choreographer mentioned in the news that he had a hard time teaching the steps to the prisoners because they weren't cooperating (plus i guess the fear of being with convicted people that might harm him if he use force). later on the prisoners were the ones who joined in and learned everything. some of the prisoners were interviewed and they said that it's something new to spend their time with.
  8. wow! and she claims she's not evil :P but that was funny. and hey there's someone who hasn't been online for quite some time. welcome back doc!thanks for the sig tiki. i'll put it up later.
  9. matak the great spammer :P

  10. lol most of my classmates sing that to me too. or that vocalization she does... XD

  11. yes, i shut it down. i'm doing some improvements. hope to relaunch it within the month. i'll tell you if it's up.

  12. well this would be like a total red alert if you're a music junkie, but i don't know why someone would create a virus just to delete music files, of all files. could've at least thought of a more major threat like a virus that would spread to the humans who would use the computer or something j/k. but a virus is still a virus, you gotta delete them, right? i could just imagine someone getting the virus and then shouting "noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
  13. but you also can't assume that they can't defend themselves from assaults like these. And even if a ship's crew are mostly composed of men, you can't just jump in and assume they're all filthy and lustful, barbaric males. you see, there's a degree of stereotyping in that. when you said "ship's crew" i was thinking marines, so in a way i feel like they could still have that camaraderie without the lust part. then again, i haven't been in a ship so i wouldn't know. well sometimes gender doesn't have anything to do with the product they're selling. usually it comes to the talent of persuading the customers in buying the products without having the thought of trying them on. but i get your point, products like such are "best" advertised by the same gender because they know better, their bodies relate to each other.
  14. I don't really see the point of doing that to a statue. From the article itself it is shown that most people notice the testicles first before the statue itself. I could just imagine someone walking up near the statue and say, "Oh, there are still testicles, you might want to remove them". The statue was put up to pay respects to the animals that help them in almost everything, not because it should be criticized for its testicles. I agree with sheepdog, it is what nature has intended these animals to be. I personally don't know why people castrate dogs, because we don't do it here. It's like showing to everyone the already-obvious thing---that humans are more dominate, but since they're not content with that, they have to do such. Dogs are already domesticated, and I don't think castration is necessary.
  15. tramp beat me to it. happy birthday!

  16. hahaha that's really funny sig. i like it. fits SM well! i think the background's totally fine. it matches the image well. although you could have made his wings a bit devil-ish, then it would really be EVIL. hahaha!
  17. well i just hope i could get used to it soon XD

  18. There are pro's and con's when it comes to online education. For one, it's a lot convenient if you want to study in the comforts of your own home. I know there are some actors and actresses in my country who go to online classes (my alma mater offers online education, or as we call it, distance learning). You get to do your homework without the hassle of hurrying and getting late for your class.I don't know if the online education system works well ("well" meaning getting 100% output, but then again comparing it to other kind of education isn't the right thing to do). For one, the output depends on the person him/herself. If the person is dedicated, he/she can do well in such, but there are a lot of temptation with such styles. As one user mentioned, you could get easily distracted.
  19. i knew it! i told you tiki is evil! hehehehe she's hiding all the voodoo dolls in her closet for keeps. hahaha just kidding.that's a pretty nice sig. although, i kinda agree with typo. i think it's too tall for a sig. maybe you could use the hide code for that... but then again, the point of "flaunting" it would be useless.
  20. lol i was just kidding. just give the creds to the other members. it's your birthday, i think people should be giving you creds as present not the other way around... ooops sorry i made that suggestion. me and my... fingers. anyway, you could give the creds to the other members. 40 credits is too much. maybe you could just split it to 10's so more members would receive the same amount and not complain, eh?anyway, happy birthday again (for the nth time). i'm off to my room, so enjoy your birthday.
  21. lol i only get to greet you ahead of time because i live in the future j/k. it's fine. not really a big deal *nose gets longer*. 20 creds can easily be earned in a week or even in a day. don't worry too much about it, i know i wouldn't *nose gets even longer* hahaha seriously, it's totally fine
  22. that's weird. cats are usually protectors of lives in myths. maybe that meant the other way around. maybe the cat can sense something that is being given off by the near-death patients, like the different scent of sweat or something. but it is kinda freaky. at least people don't have any hard feelings directed towards him, some people might confuse the situation as the feline that causes death, but merely the harbinger of death.i only know of cats as familiars to witches in the witch folklores. but i don't really know if they bring negative energies or curse others of death.
  23. lol indeed @ tiki. i sent the greeting like a day ahead, since i'm from the future hahaha. anyway, happy birthday again! you're 18 and i think that's a legal age for driving in some countries (and probably the age for drinking as well). i don't drive much so i really don't care. take care on the road with that car. at least you already have a gift for yourself
