What Is Your Favorite Soccer League In The World?
arnz replied to james2002's topic in General Discussion
EPL by a long way, although I had been looking at Australia's A-League from time to time. -
The question in my country (Australia) in regard to football is.. which type of football is popular. Down here you got Australian Rules football, Rugby union, Rugby League (League & Union are 2 completely different codes) & Soccer. Soccer has been on the rise lately considering the Socceroos appearance at the world cup, but considering the amount of bandwagon supporters around the place, with them off the soccer bandwagon, there are still an amount of casual sport fans (those that follow any code), followed by "new" soccer fans and those long term hard-core soccer fans. But yeah, out here.. its either Australian Rules football (by far the most popular spectator sport, and junior sport.. followed by the 2 rugby codes).

It would probably depend if the dream that a person dreamt may actually want it to come true, or not. If the later (no), then the person would try to forget about it, or if it relates to a life situation (eg late deadlines), they would try to do something to circumvent the situation that awaits them after a particular scenario

What Country To Do You Live In, And Rate It.
arnz replied to Fu Still Better's topic in General Discussion
AustraliaRated: 8.5 out of 10.Pros-Nice Countryside, less polluted capital cities.-More spacious and spread out.-Most of the population near beach, and nice weather all around in most locationsCons-Recent drought -An very ordinary government that seems to follow other countries (USA being a obv example with the Iraq war and the "war on terror"). Thank gawd the Labor party opposition now has a decent leader (Kevin Rudd) capable of challenging John Howard not only for Prime Minister, but for a majority in the House of Reps at the next federal election.-Still a few people that are sticking to racial beliefs, but has since fallen from public view (eg the One Nation Party that rose and fell from grace just as quickly). -
I learnt HTML in WYSIWYG editor (eg Frontpage) within a few days. It took me a bit longer (about a week or two) to learn it manually via code. Since then I learnt a bit more beyond it and the later extensions (eg ASP, PHP, and so forth). So interestingly enough, if you just want to create a simple or organised type page, a WYSIWYG editor such as Frontpage or Dreamweaver may do. I use the later for its CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) capabilities.Manually may be good as well, but some may not have the patience to type it up manually the whole day, or either some do not wish to learn the HTML language.

Many sports i like watching, eg Rugby League/Union, Cricket, Australian Rules Football, Basketball. Also play em in the spare time when I get the chance.. Used to be a big basketball head that used to always play basketball years ago. Those days, I still play it every now and again, but then again I also play a bit of other sports as well (eg Touch football, Soccer, and so forth).

A Highly Controversial Topic: The Death Penalty.
arnz replied to UnheroicHero's topic in General Discussion
Without reading the previous reply to the thread. There is a good point of mistaken identity when someone gets trialled, guility, sentenced to death.. only to find out that it is the wrong person that they hanged, etc.. (meaning they need to compensate his family, etc). But either way, the death penalty could still be used in the most extreme cases when its obvious when a accused is guilty (eg the recent Saddam Hussein case). -
Is Paying With Paypal Safe? your opinion and experiences please
arnz replied to Joannespw's topic in General Discussion
I know there are issues with paypal as of late, ie phishing, ebay scams and so forth, but other from that.. if the problems happen at least Paypal will at least do something to help out as much as they can. But I hardly use it, but would go with the suggestion that you dont leave a lot of money in the paypal account. Just put in what is needed and pay whatever when the date comes up. -
Saddam Hussein And Muslims What do you think?
arnz replied to sweet_princess's topic in General Discussion
ITs a shame about stereotyping, although there are many people that sees beyond that. Especially when particular religious leaders and the loud ones are the ones that are presumed to speak for many of 'their' people, although some or most in the lot may not agree. -
How Safe Are Condoms? Even if they break?
arnz replied to Dagoth Nereviar's topic in General Discussion
Have to agree you'd be pretty unlucky if the Condom breaks during sex. But if you use em properly eg the points outlined above, and when ya.. err partner is errect. Then it may be okay, but it's a pretty high chance of being safe, but as said beforehand they arent guaranteed to be effective, as some stories I heard and a few I know had some bad cases with condoms. -

I dont really get the point of Valentines day, whether if its really only commercial (eg LOVE Day on the simpsons) to boost profits by retailers, or if it actually means something. If you got a relationship really, you are meant to show affection to your partner every day (eg Honey I'm home, or hows work).. communication is just one of the important keys. Over time I had seen a few examples and close friends/acquintances done that, and I had done that while in relationships a long while back.

I think many aussies consider the nation to be an "inactive" constitutional democracy considering the Governor-General is usually the Queens representative by name only, and basically most decisions are made by their own those days without having to refer to the Queen, etc (have a look at their relationship with the US for example!.. and i'm not gonna go further there).

Happy Valentines Day, or belated depending on where you are in the world. Personally for me, as I had been single for some time now.. Valentines for me is "BAH Humbug", but for the rest of ya, hope ya had a good one and gave your partner something nice. If you have any stories, feel free to share it ere

Australian Cricket The Ashes, the odi world series, and so forth
arnz replied to arnz's topic in General Discussion
And whatdaya know, England wins the series on the Ducksworth/Lewis system, but overall they did deserve their victory as the Aussies were on the ropes at 8/152 in the second final. Both sides were fielding understrength teams and missing key players (eg England - Vaughan, Australia - Symonds), which did even out the contest in the best of 3 series but I guess the better team on the day won, as our selectors (Aussies) did make some pretty shocking selections for injuries as well (Eg trying to fit Watson somewhere for Clark). Congrats to England, and on their convincing victory in the first final as well. -
New Forum, Topic Starters How do I get people to start talking?
arnz replied to brandice's topic in General Discussion
Without reading half of the thread, maybe controversial topics that has been in the news of late.. of course within debate and opinion (rather than naming calling, etc). Also, as others said.. maybe a games section, and so forth.. even the threads that encourages answers to question (eg name of band, etc.. or what are you listening to) may bump up the activity a bit. -
I'd have to say Coke, as thats the most preferred out of the two down under. Especially with the expansion in range of late (cherry coke, vanilla coke, coke zero (no sugar), etc).. and diet versions of it. Also Coca-Cola amatil also owns and advertises the other brands as well (eg Sprite, Fanta).

Depends on most cases... theres a large amount of PvP gamers out there which play on the PvP realms (meaning, if you sight a player of the opposite faction in your home territory... they cant attack you unless you attack them, or if you're in contested territory.. its Free for All KILL).. Of course they are those whiners that complain about the non-stop ganking (eg a Lvl 60 killing a Lvl 40), thus there are also PvE (Player v Environment) server for those that just want to run around and complete quests (and dungeons).

Australian Cricket The Ashes, the odi world series, and so forth
arnz replied to arnz's topic in General Discussion
Good to see despite their loss to England, and their close victory over NZ, that some young stars are willing to step up when the major contributors struggle. Eg Hodge, Tait.. while the major contributing stars throughout the series (eg Hussey, Lee, Johnson) had struggled in the 'dead rubber' games. -
Victoria Beckham is only riding off the success of her husband IMO.Getting back ontopic regardless if whichever soccer superstar comes to America to promote soccer, the USA will still pretty much be into their sports (eg Baseball, Gridiron, Basketball).. esp if its the only country to play the sport on a major level (eg Gridiron). Its the same in Australia, while Soccer has improved attendance records down under as of the past few years, it will always take a backseat to the major football codes down here (eg Australian Rules Football - in which their major league; the AFL; is the leading football code, followed by Rugby Union (Super 14) and League (NRL)).
