  1. Dont prefer a particular brand, but a bit of a bargain hunter.. if particular brands eg Converse, Rip Curl, etc are on sale and they seem to look good, I wont mind buying it. I dont tend to buy brands when expensive though, but warehouses does seem to have sales most of the time
  2. Australia here... living north of Brisbane, about an hour away. In one of the regions (South East Queensland) supposedly one of the rapid growing areas of Australia, with those from the more populated southern cities of Sydney and to a lesser extent Melbourne coming up here.
  3. When someone feels down and probably looks for the worst in outcomes, although its just a bad day, or just something unfortunate may happen. But have to say that being positive is at least having a go, to some extent being confident (eg i'm going after x number of that at work today) which in some extent confidence leads to particular goals being met.
  4. Dell seems to be brand chosen for many educational institutions down here, I dont mind dell, although I hadnt really used HP branded PCs and/or laptops to really comment on which is the best. So for now I'll just have to go with Dell if it was out of the 2. Although I dont mind the ASUS laptop i got ATM
  5. Have to say maybe not, some classes in various schools are even teaching it now, but is not using it on a daily basis and is generally not recommended. Whether it's a good thing or not remains to be seen. I'd probably hate to see universities and so forth handing in papers based on SMS or even 1337 SP34K.
  6. The Millenium Bug come 2000 turned out to be a fizzer, with only minor effects such as the date reseting to 1981 on the older XT type machines (eg 8086x processors). But had to say the Microsoft 'Firefox' was a pearler, too many various forum posts worldwide going WTF, and those blasting em for buying themselves out and so forth
  7. I haven't got much to say on this, but if you're gonna own a weapon, some sort of license and some training would have to be required. IIRC most countries require that a gun owner will have to acquire a gun license to own the weapon.
  8. Without reading most of the thread, I didnt mind her at first.. But after her so-called "first" song things seemed to have gone downhill from there.. especially after opening mouth earlier (eg virginity, alcohol, etc).. and doing exactly the opposite of what she may have said. Some may have dismissed her as an attention seeker after being out of the spotlight for a while, or there may have been another reason (eg suffering from being under the spotlight too early, and she may even want to get out of the papparazi's wondering cameras).Although, Kevin did gain a bit of respect by getting custody of the kids after Britney lost her mind and so on, but then again Kevin's career aint really that crash hot either (eg his CD flopping, poor concert sales and so forth). But as for Britney, she should really take it one step at a time in her rehabilitation, maybe even start from the ground up again.
  9. And after 48 days, Australia finally defends their title and manages to grab 3 in a row. But the final wasnt without controversy, especially with the rain, D/L system, and the umpires stuffing up saying that 3 overs needed to be bowled although it wasn't required (as the minimum overs needed to have a ODI match was 20 overs).
  10. I'm also thinking the sport may be hacky sack, which is a like a game to keep the sack kicking up in the air or so, and the first person to miss it or let the sack drop to the ground is eliminated or something.. There are also other forms, eg hackysack comps and how many kicks can be done, etc.
  11. Watch, Australian rules football, Rugby League, Rugby union..Watch/Play: Cricket, Basketball, and a bit of soccer. All have their good + bad points, but most tend to watch for the action + entertainment. Although the professional players (and to some extent young players on the rise) does seem to get more scrutiny than those in the lower grades
  12. Its down to 2 teams. Australia, and Sri Lanka.. down here there is the never ending debate on Murali's action... although personally I don not think he chucks 90% of the time (yes, I think the doosra is a bit suspect). But still, Australia has the batting power + bowlers to go on with it, especially now that its Glenn McGraths last ever ODI and international appearance before he officially retires. Also, it may be the last time we could see Gilchrist + Hayden walking out opening in a World Cup appearance.
  13. Just currently working atm.. its good to squeeze in some game time inbetween, but had originally first played it when was studying.. have to admit it was pretty addictive and all (esp when studying).. but these days now i'm not in study, I manage to squeeze in game time inbetween breaks those days.. Still the second time around playing it (with the BC expansion).. first got a ally priest to 45 on PVE.. then on PVP gotten the trolls priest to 50, and a shaman alt to 22.. but have to say playing on the more hard-core server "PVP" on horde side.. esp in a server that outnumbers alliance.. makes it the all more interesting..
  14. Probably when the extremities come out (eg going back to the old days of segregation.. this didnt happen on racial lines, but for a while it did happen on gender lines as well). As for jokes, some may be offended.. but it doesnt give those offended the right to laugh at other "racism" type jokes at some other races expense.. or is seen as hypocritical because of it.
  15. Most people would be at least computer literate to know that there are at least other alternatives.. eg Mac Users, and even newbs who has a friend or a few that is computer literate would at least introduce them to their preferred browser (which in many cases would be firefox if not IE).
  16. Came prepacked with most PCs, would be one major reason why IE is so popular. Although the rise of 'Netscape Mk 2' (aka Firefox) is one thing. Interestingly enough when the internet actually went commercial in the mid 90s, Netscape started as the leading Internet Browser before Internet Explorer eventually took over for numerous reasons. But as for operating systems, its interesting if Dell does go with the options of either packaging PCs with either Windows Vista or Linux.. but a computer 'n00b' would have no idea what linux is.
  17. I've watched the chicago bulls, and Houston back in the Jordan + Ollajuon (sp) days.. ONeill, Peyton and co at the Lakers in the early 00s.
  18. I'll have to say it varies by country by country.. Although they are allys with many of the western nations, those that may not necessarily share their views may oppose them for those reasons (eg religions, democracy, big bullies, etc).. Other countries may hate em for sporting reasons (eg olympics.. esp swimming where they are competitive with Australia .. a small continent nation)..
  19. Personally I think that no one can actually predict an actual date for the end of the world, and like many others said, it will come when people least expect it.. Who knows what the timeframe might even be?. There are some methods on what could even happen (tsunami, meteor, armageddon and the like).
  20. Happy birthday dude (even if its belated), it's people like you that keeps this community & site together. It's good to hear that had a reunion of sorts with your close friends and relatives. Look forward to the next ones to come
  21. For some of them, it is part of their beliefs, as they seem to believe they will be a martyr if they blow themselves up in front of a popular "opposing faction" place. But it could be said that their "leader" or "employer" were the ones that were yelling out the orders, and the employee or "puppet" was merely carrying out their wishes. To be honest, i dont know why some people call it a 'profession', but it clearly isnt, and could be compared to "euthanasia", which is another suicide type method. But in the end, it can be either someone that is frustrated in life and turns to something like this, some may actually believe in what the leaders/employers/etc are saying, or 'sacrifice' for the good of their 'religion' rather.
  22. They may 'look' the same, but when it comes to genes, etc etc.. they will have different interests from the original body, eg different tastes of music, clothes, and so forth. This is already the case with many twins, in which they may live together.. but happen to have different interests in other areas. Personally I wouldnt mind if they are a clone, but unfortunately there would be some ppl that will look 'down' upon some clones, but this is progressively reducing and ppl may grow to accept it.Provided that cloning is controlled, and not on a large scale basis for other reasons, then yes.. I probably wont mind.
  23. Chat rooms who knows what ppl may actually be, considering a person could just jump on and say "blond hair, blue eyes, slim build, long legs, etc" and they are really of the "overweight, glasses, etc". It may be easier to lie online when under a situation (eg some old freak asking really personal like questions and so forth).. but then again it, some has seem to go too far with things. One good case that happened recently was a 'popular' person in a chatroom goes on about a "relatives" death. Only to be found out it didnt actually happen (via website, accident reports, etc). That person involved eventually left before it got banned.
  24. I dont know what you mean, but maybe you dont full member privileges over at the forum involved? (presuming you meant another forum, and not here).
  25. Another thing I noticed was the dissapointing crowd turnout in the West Indies for this event, when they dominated back in the 80s and early 90s, I noticed the grounds would be packed to the brim with bongo drums and the like. Even in the late 90s, the crowds may have dropped off at Windies tests/odis, but still pulled a good turnout. But now, the only ppl that seemed to be attending is the overseas South Africa/Australia/NZ contingent, and the lucky local rich bastards (no offense intended ) over there. I'd probably would like to know any reasons for the poor crowd turnout.
