  1. Hi there, welcome to Xisto.I haven't checked these out myself, but you should find some tutorials on Flash and Dreamweaver by doing a search for them in Google. For example, try searching for Flash Tutorials and see if anything useful comes up. Add extra keywords if necessary to narrow down the search results. Not sure myself. I, too, am looking for a job in the computing field. I heard that some system administrators get paid a lot but you have to be very savvy at UNIX and probably be on call around the clock. Before CCNA sounded great, but my friend told me that they don't even look at your certifications anymore now.LOL. You probably should ask this somewhere else if you want to go into more details. This was mainly for an intro and welcome to the forum. :lol:I hope you enjoy your stay here.
  2. Great tip. What does this do exactly though? I have an idea, but not 100% sure.Is this like a BIOS password, but for Windows instead? So if I have a regular password for my account already, it will ask for this password (syskey) and my own account password?
  3. Sorry about that. Forgot to preview before I posted it. Links to reviews are: Digital-Daily Overclockers.com
  4. I'm not a big PC gamer, but what are the highest specifications for those games? They should list the minimum requirements in the box. I suggest getting more than the minimum requirement though. Video card prices have dropped significantly. If you want some reviews, take a look at and [url=http://www.overclockers.com/overclockers-com-100mhz-fsb-celerons-a-future-ocing-opportunity/. With $500, you can get a great video card and still have some cash left over. No need to get the latest and greatest (that will take that whole $500 and maybe more). Look at the reviews and see what they say about each video card. I suggest getting one with at least 128MB of ram, or 256MB if the price is right for you. Either ATI or nVidia are good. They both have been competing for the market and that's why you see some huge price drops on their "older" models.
  5. I heard of this months ago and one user posted a referral code (in another forum). I checked it out but passed since it was still under construction back then. Thanks for the heads up on this rhodesian.dragon. $10 and $25 withdrawals only? Too much hassle with this
  6. Plextor and Lite-On are probably good choices to choose from. I had a Lite-On internal cd burner before and it worked almost flawlessly. Barely had any coasters. Does it have to be external? I recommend buying a USB enclosure drive and getting an internal cd burner instead. The enclosure drive is useful for many reasons. If you get the one that can enclose both hard drives and 5.25" drives, then you can even use an internal hard drive as if it was an external one. While I'm recommending the usb enclosure drive, I might as well suggest getting a DVD burner. Why don't you just get a DVD burner though? They have CD burning capabilities also and with the prices dropping like crazy these days, you can pick a very good one for under $100 (usually after rebates for some). Anyway, brands I recommend (internal or external) are Plextor and Lite-On. You might also be interested in BenQ and Sony even. I heard some bad reviews for Sony, so if you can, steer clear from that one. Take a look at CDRInfo for reviews on CD and DVD burners. They have reviews for both internal and external drives.
  7. No problem m^e. Glad I could finally help you out in return for the numerous times you helped me. Serial number? Maybe. Will see tonight when I get home. You guys over there don't have strict rules about this stuff do you? LOL. Actually read a topic discussing about this yesterday.
  8. LOL. That was it OpaQue. Had to manually look through each folder and file to verify they are all 777. Thanks.
  9. Just checked, but they are set to 777 already. Now when I try to install the MOD, I get some failures in the process: I clicked Proceed anyway and it gave me the same error message in my initial post. I see that it created some backups (?) also since those two failed files above also have a duplicate but with a tilde ~ at the end. Any other ideas?
  10. Hi, I installed SMF smoothly just now. I just tried to install some mods and encountered this error: If memory serves me correctly, I remember that I had to ask my webhost to turn safe mode off. Is this the case here also? Also when I installed Mambo, I see that register globals was off. Is that ok? It was in red when I ran the setup.
  11. Thanks again m^e. I don't know what I did wrong, probably a mistyped password. I got the database working now.
  12. Darren, the problem is fixed now. You may start a new thread and apply for the 30 credit package.
  13. It's most likely the server being overloaded by too many requests. If you know it's not your site that's doing this, and if it happens a lot (with the sql errors), I would contact your webhost and notify them about this.
  14. Thanks. I will download this program and try it out tonight.
  15. That worked perfectly m^e. Thanks. Chose Extract File Contents. One last question here. Is my SQL username and password the same as my cPanel username and password? I can't get it to install the SMF forum.
  16. I'm no big gamer buff, but let's see if I can help out here. $1500 should be enough for pretty good gaming PC. I assume this is for high graphic games right? Actually LCD's are getting better these days. Some say that they can compare to CRT monitors now in the gaming environment. Hard drive: I say go with a 200GB hard drive with 7200RPM. If you can afford it, go with Serial ATA hard drives instead. I think Maxtor has a 250GB one for over $100. Motherboard: Get one that supports the newer chipsets for either the AMD or Intel CPUs. Asus, VIA and MSI are among the bigger name brands that come in mind now. RAM: At least 1GB. Get more if you can afford it. Graphics Card: I think any of the recent cards from nVidia or ATI should do. Get one with 128MB, or better yet, 256MB or memory for the video card. Sound Card: Get a card from SoundBlaster. Read some reviews here for more info. Case: Size does matter here. So think over what you want to put into this machine because if you intend to add a lot, you have to make sure to get a bigger case and a higher power suppy unit. Cooling: You should be ok with the fans. If you think it's going to get too hot or if you want to overclock the CPU, I say go with liquid cooling. Here's more information on it. That should be enough to get you up and running. I think you should have some spare even after doing this, so upgrade other components accordingly if you want to spike it up a little. Here are some tutorials on building gaming PCs: ExtremeTech FiringSquad For those hardware parts, I suggest looking online for deals. Sites that come to my mind now are: PriceMatch NewEgg eBay (usually find good deals, but be careful since it may be harder to return defective items here than if you bought it on a online store)
  17. Hi, I just got my new hosting account and was wondering if I can upload a zip file and get it unzipped in the server?Normally I wouldn't mind unzipping and sending it using FTP, but sometimes I'm somewhere else (like my workplace) and they don't allow FTP. Uploading the files one by one is going to be tedious since my zip files usually have almost 100 files or more. Small though, so it won't bog down the server Thanks.
  18. Off the top of my head, these are the games I have:SNES:Contra IIISuper Mario WorldSuper Mario - All StarsSuper Mario World 2Goof TroopLufiaLufia IIPac-ManGTA2Darius TwinSuper Gameboy (SNES adapter):Pokemon RedRobocopCastlevania IV (I think)Dreamcast (just to list a few LOL):NBA 2K2Soul CaliburGrandia I & II..and a whole bunch of self-bootable games...(about 80 in total)PS & PS2 (all in one place - too lazy):Resident Evil (I think version 2)NBA 2K3Dynasty Warriors ...3?Lord of the RingsFinal Fantasy XPC:MystRollercoaster Tycoon 1 & 2Zoo TycoonMonopoly TycoonCommand & Conquer: Red Alert 2C & C - Tiberian SunAirline TycoonAirport TycoonCounter Strike: Condition ZeroThat's all I can come up with now. Most are played before and beaten the whole game. Others I bought but haven't even played yet lol.
  19. I see this being mentioned already, but I'm also a Final Fantasy fan. I only played FF 8 though. Have FFX also but never really got to play it yet (brother plays it most LOL).I have to put Lufia (remember that old game) in the list also. I have both I and II for the SNES and still play it from time to time.
  20. Thanks m^e. Well, two more days before I leave.I want to test it out a little before the trip. I'll try to get like 10 hosting credits before the trip, so that my account doesn't become inactive.Does my 10 or more hosting credits have to be reviewed also after I got my 30 points for package #2?I will apply now so we can get this done sooner.
  21. It looks good. I like the very simple user interface. Why are there a lot of N/A's in the Location category? I did the search and entered my data for all 3 fields already. Also get this error:Notice: Undefined offset: 0 in /home/virtual/site4/fst/var/www/html/cyclopsearch/jobs/lib/assoc_array2xml.php on line 59Only the Jobs search feature work now right? The others were either under construction or just gave me a 404 error?
  22. Thanks for the clear up MC. I did hear that more and more SE and phasing meta tags out also. Particularly Google since they seem to show search results to sites that have a lot of other sites linking to it. I got content, title and meta tags on my site.Question here. I never knew that you can sponsor search engines. How do we do this? I have the Google search on my site, is that taken into consideration?
  23. If the site uses cPanel, I think you should be able to do this very easily. Just go into cPanel and make a backup of the whole site so that everything is included. The PHP files should also be backed up with it since they are files.I'm actually not 100% sure if the databases are saved with it. So if you want to play it safe, save the database backup from cPanel also. Then just go back to backup section in your other web server and choose to restore the backup file you saved earlier. See if everything works now. If there are nothing wrong, in relation to the database (no errors on site), then you should be ok. If you do get errors, also choose to restore the database. So no need to upload if all the above works out.
  24. All done with no problems.Just want to mention this for others who might be in this situation also. I did the 1.0.3 update and then the Package Manager told me I had to install another update. It was for the 1.0.4 update. So that was great. I just did the update one by one till I got to 1.0.5What is fix_ownership.php for? Do I need to use it? No problems here at all now.
  25. Maybe you should try requesting this in the Tutorials section? It would get better exposure over in that forum. I assume you want to do the hosting? If you just want to set one up for your own testing purposes (not for outside use), you should be ok installing the MySQL package. Or use a program like XAMPP which has Apache, PHP and MySQL.
