  1. This program is not free, but it should do what you want. Try using Easy GIF Animator.
  2. Great tutorial OpaQue. I just have a quick question. I was told that Meta tag keywords are also helpful. Lately everyone is saying that it doesn't matter anymore.Your thoughts on this?
  3. Since you made it over the active amount (which I think is 4 or 5), it should probably take an hour or so for it to take effect. Try giving it an hour or two. If anything, PM the Admin or Mods and ask them.
  4. Hi silentkarma, I think once you reach over 4 hosting credits here at Xisto, your account will be accessible again. So post one or two posts to get your hosting credit up to 4 or 5 credits. Give it an hour or so for the changes to take affect.I suggest contributing more to the forum if you can. Otherwise it will be down again in 4 or 5 days (depending on how may hosting credits you get).
  5. I think I still have the 1.0.3 saved in Package Manger from last time, just didn't install it yet. Definitely will do so sometime today or tomorrow. Thanks Trekkie.
  6. Wish I could do the upgrade, but I have a few mods installed and don't want to reinstall them again. Will the update for for v1.0.2? Actually, I remember having the 1.0.3 update in the Package Manager. I will update it to that version first and see if I can get v1.0.4, then maybe go to v1.0.5.
  7. Hi, I read the pinned topics here and see that the upgrade package resets the hosting credtis to 5. Am I correct?I want to get Package #2 (30 credits) but was wondering if my credits will be reset? If so, I don't want to get it now since I will be taking 5 weeks off and I'm not sure if I will be online during that time. If it's just the -30 credits, then I shall get it now. One more question. Is there any way we can check our "real" hosting credits? The one that's shown under the shoutbox is not very accurate right? I read somewhere that says the hosting credits needs to be reviewed first.Thanks.
  8. Trekkie, call my risky (or dumb LOL), but I still have Version 1.0.2 now. I want to do the update, do I have to update it to 1.03 and 1.0.4 first (like phpBB) or can I jump straight to the 1.0.5 update? Thanks.
  9. No problem m^e. Yes, I've searched and searched, but can't find one that's free like this one. I did find some alternative, but lost the link to it.This one I have to say though, might be a little buggy for some users. I didn't notice any problems when I used it, but had one complaint from a user. That's great. Would love to hear your review on this. Probably doesn't have as much features as the paid programs you have though.
  10. I agree, they do tend to be a little more expensive (at least around my area). I guess it does depend on what type you got and how long was the cable.I was going to buy a firewire cable online (eBay auction) and saw it running for $0.99 and bidded on it. Someone outbidded me for $3.00 but shipping was $6.95I needed the cable so I went to my local electronic store and bought it for only $10. It's a 6 foot 4-pin to 6-pin cable from iConcepts. I think that's a good deal, but should have tried newegg. Like Brian said, if you need it, you'll pay for it.
  11. I don't know why I never did this. No problem, I will try to do this if someone uses that living room computer. LOL. Sister has exams so it's been unused for about a week now. Yes logan, it's in the network at home. I will definitely post a followup to this.
  12. There is no such thing as a best antivirus program. Each has their own ways of detecting viruses and trojans. I agree that some may detect and remove trojans that others (like Norton) may not find, but I'm sure the reverse occurs also. Personally, I'm a AVG user also. I tell all my friends about it and they also said it detected more trojans than Norton and McAfee does. My suggestion is to have more than one antivirus scan. It's highly recommended that you don't install two antivirus programs on your computer, but there is one exception that I know of now. Ewido's site says that their antivirus programs are compatibile with a lot of other A/V programs. So you should be ok using them side by side. For the list of compatible A/V programs with Ewido, take a look at their Compatibility list. That should protect you as long as you keep them up to date. Just as a second check, I also suggest running online virus scans: Panda ActiveScan TrendMicro All those programs (and online scans) are free (or have free editions).
  13. I was going to mention that also . -> Tag & Rename. I used another one previously but I forgot the name of the program. I test out a few and then uninstall them. You might also want to take a look at MP3 Tag Editor (quite obvious name ). Definitely try out The Godfather as mentioned earlier by banjosforpeace. That program has more features than you can think of LOL. I need to give it a test run myself.
  14. This is kind of late, but let's answer your questions here. That won't work because bluetooth doesn't work with infrared. It's a newer technology than infrared. WAN is wide area network. PAN is Personal Area Network. Rather than having me go into more details, I did a search and this site should explain all the different networks for you. Wireless LAN is just a Local Area Network (it could be your home network or company network) where you can access it wirelessly. Bluetooth is used to transfer small files only. It's never meant to transfer huge files because the speed is not exactly that fast. It is, however, faster than infrared It's about 721 Kbps transfer speed. Basically Bluetooth is used to exchange small amounts of information. You will usually see these in cell phones or wireless headsets for cell phones. One example is to use it to transfer a your phone number (or phonebook) from one cell phone to another. What new hardware is it? I think it usually tells the user what kind of device it is in that Add New Hardware window. If you want to connect two computers together, you might need to get new hardware parts if you don't have them already. I assume you want them to share files? The easiest way to do this is to use two network interface cards (one for each computer) and then connect them with a crossover cable. If you have high speed internet and a router, then it would probably be even easier if you use the router to connect the two computers together. You will have different responses for this. The Pentium 4 and the AMD Athlon seems to work better in some programs/games and not in others. So I say go with the one you like more. If I had a choice, I would choose an Athlon since the pricest are cheaper and I don't think there is a huge performance difference between the two brands. I assume you meant, what is a proxy server? Take a look at the Wikepedia site for a detailed explanation. Another question which will have various opinions on it. There is almost no such thing as a best in terms of common programs like a firewall. I have used both Sygate and ZoneAlarm before. I like ZoneAlarm better. Both are free for personal use. I think that covers everything
  15. This is just a hunch, but when I'm connected I see my network and the MAC address of my wireless PC card. I'm using a Netgear WG511 PCMCIA card. I didn't see if I can see other MAC addresses (like the computer in my living room connecting to the network/internet).Hmm. Just curious if it might actually show the MAC address for that other card in the living room PC. I don't think that's illegal since Netgear has it built-in to their software.
  16. Not exactly sure what you are referring to, but is it lines scrolling in your LCD screen? If it is, it might be the refresh rates. You have to set them higher or lower and see which Hz level will make it go away or seem less distracting. Sometimes a very high refresh rate may do more harm than good, so make sure it's not set too high either.I'm doing this on my laptop but your's should be something similar. Right click on the desktop and go to Properties. Then go to the Display tab. Click on the Advanced button. Next go to the Monitor tab and under Screen refresh rate, try selecting them one by one (go up or down a notch to see if it improves). You might have the refresh rates settings in your video card software if it came with it. So try looking there also.
  17. Hi, what do you mean by utilities? I think I found the drivers though. Go to this site and see if that's the drivers you wanted. For the username and password, try these: username: patu925@jippii.fi password: saatana Login and download the drivers. Install it and see if that works.
  18. I tried to look those up to see if I can find a comparison review for them, but nothing much. Actually never heard of the 3DClub Radeon before. I tried a few other bargain sites to see if I can find a card under $100 and nothing came up. I went to the next best thing - eBay I found a whole bunch of 9800 PRO video cards for around $60. One I'm looking at right now is going for around $73 with 13 minutes left. You won't make it for that one. You can see all the 9800 graphic cards here. Hope that helps.
  19. What do you mean? Streamload? I just checked, it's free as mentioned in the subject title. Just go to that streamload site and then click on the sign up button. Enter your information and check the box if you agree to the terms. Click on Submit to create your account and you should be set. But take note of the amount you can download. If you want to allow people to download a lot from here, and the files are huge, I suggest using alternative methods like yousendit or megaupload instead.
  20. LMAO. That'll show them. I just switched to DSL a few months ago. Getting 3Mbps at $29.99 per month. Can't wait till fiber optic comes around my area. Only $5 more if I get the lower end plan. ADSL2? Is that like the new Internet2 that I've been hearing about? I heard you can download the whole matrix DVD movie in around 30 seconds. Holy cow.
  21. I have used this program in the past and will recommend it here. WinDrvExpert can help you backup all your drivers with the click of a button. You can choose to save non-Microsoft related drivers, just Microsoft drivers, or both. After you saved them, all the individual driver files should be in their own separate folders. You just need to back them up to a CD. Next time if you need your drivers, there would be no need to go looking for the individual driver discs since you will have all of them in one place.
  22. They're probably still working out the quirks for the program. As some users has mentioned (me also), it catches some false positives at times. I know there is no perfect program, but I don't recall when Ad-aware or Spybot caught a false positive before (either a legit program or a malware that never existed in the first place). I'm sure Microsoft will make it a "stable" release after the expire date comes around.
  23. That would depend on your surroundings. Will you be using this in the apartment or are you trying to use it outside? Walls can interfere with the signals and also other devices using the same frequency range (2.4Ghz). You can however try to change the wireless channels (6 and 11 is best) so that the 2.4Ghz frequency range won't interfere with it (maybe not as much). Those who use it outside have either extended their wireless access (probably using other wireless access points or wireless range extender or antenna) or they are wardriving. Basically wardriving is going around looking for "open" wireless hotspots and using it for free. Some places actually do have free wi-fi hotposts for people near by to use, but others just didn't secure it. I see a lot of great suggestions already mentioned above. If you do those, you are mostly free from these security problems (never 100% though ).
  24. Thanks for the quick reply m^e. I wish I was a better programmer LOL. I will definitely take a look at the code you posted there and try to understand it better. I actually did something similar to this in C but it's not so useful anymore since I need this feature built into my VB program instead. Will post back if anything. Need to learn .NET by now also LOL. Thanks again.
  25. Hi, I'm using Visual Basic 6 and I want to know how I can take input from the clipboard and compare it to the entries I have in my program (maybe using an array?).For example, if the user copies these text into the clipboard:123:45345:57I will have a button where the user can click to do the comparisons. Let's say I have this somewhere in my program:124:55993:24345:57So I want it to output the difference into a textbox:123:45will be outputted since it's not listed in my program. How can this be done? I will have hundreds of lines (the above are just made up samples of what I want).Thanks.
