Pictiger Vs Imageshack - I Say Pictiger Wins
Jeigh1405241495 replied to SunBlind's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Sounds interesting. I haven't used much of any of the image hosting sites but have been needing to on occasion lately, may as well try this one out then since it seems to have all the pros of the others. Thanks for sharing. -
Livecd And Liveusb Slax Linux and MySlax Creator
Jeigh1405241495 replied to abhiram's topic in Websites and Web Designing
When I get a new mp3 player I'm thinking of using ym current one to carry around as a linux booter (it's one of the ones that works like a usb drive when it's plugged into the comp). I had forgotten slack had a bottable distro, I had been thinking Damn Small Linux or that other popular small one I cant remember right now. But slack would probably be a better choice for me then DSL.Oh, and not to burst your bubble, but I've heard the term 'LiveUSB' in a fair number of different places before long before this -
I hope they develope a strong competetor for intel quickly. Intel seemed a little too happy with the possibility of having the 45nm market to themselves for awhile. I assume these companies won't be able to develope the chip and get it out for the intel release (unless they've been secretely working on it without telling anyone) but just knowing more is comming will keep Intel from getting over confident, and thats means better chips at better prices

Holy crap, I know this is a doulbe post, but I tried this game and feel the need to thank you for letting me find out about it! I love thinking type games and especially when they try new things, and this one obviously does that superbly. I started playing last night and it blew my mind every time a clue was found hidden in a different way So far I'm on level 11 I think... maybe 12... one of those. I only had about 10 minutes to look at it but wasn't seeing any obvious methods to try. Awesomeness My only complaint (and its by no fault of the game creator other then making a challenging game that everyone loves) is that its kinda hard to google clues without having tons of forums pop up with possible spoiler info even using -notpron. ah well, so far I haven't actually had anything ruined so woo.Again, thanks for bringing this game to my attention, and I suggest anyone else considering trying it to do so immediately!

Microsoft Critical Patch Can Cause Serious Problem
Jeigh1405241495 replied to jedipi's topic in Security issues & Exploits
CaptainRon, that may be the case, but any company that releases a patch that breaks there software worse then it was before the patch is deserving of being harassed about it. For that is the circle of life. -
Welcome to the boards, and don't worry you'll have 30 points in no time. Just make a handful of relevant posts and put thought into them so they are more then a couple lines and you'll be swimming in points before you know it.Hope you enjoy your stay here and I'll see you around in various topics more then likely, Lates.

Possibility Of A Google Os ?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to jwcgator's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Since it would in turn be using debians apt-get system, I think its a fine choice. I loves my apt-get While Ubuntu sometimes feels dumbed down too much for my liking, I've never had any actual glaring issues with it (I have it on this computer here at work). For the most part apt-get is a breeze so installing new software is simple, theres tonnes of pre-built packages since it can use .deb files, and it has insane hardware detection/auto configuration and the like. Then again if they completely redo the frontend like MacosX did then really the backend wont matter all that much... as you won't be directly interfacing with it for most tasks and those that you do, the functionality wouldn't liekly be that impaired if they chose a poorer distro. -
I'll have to check this out later (I'm at work so I only have a linux box, so no IE if its true its ie only) but it sounds pretty interesting.

Possibility Of A Google Os ?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to jwcgator's topic in Websites and Web Designing
If they take ubuntu and make it into the true user friendly desktop linux that it strives so hard to be, Google could have a winner on their hands. I wish them luck (wherther I'll be using it or not) since it will open ALOT of peoples eyes to linux of Google releases a distro. Think about it, we hear about linux distros all the time because we are who we are, but everyone (geek or not) hear about the things google does. If they release a linux distro alot of people will take notice that normally wouldn't. I say it'll be pretty awesome even if they don't manage to improve upon the ubuntu base too drastically.Plus they obviously have the money now that it wouldn't be farfetched to think they COULD do some good things for a linux distro. -
Microsoft's Memo To It's Indian Staff - Hilarious
Jeigh1405241495 replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Software
Hahaha that's awesome. Reminds me of a letter my group at work last summer got about how some of our workers apparel doesn't fit 'standards' but all their demands of of were completely rediculous as the 'violations' of their code of conduct were severely limited at best. It's funny when management thinks we care -
Yes, but if someone is willing to risk their life over an addiction, they have problems that are deeper then which addiction they pick. If we try to deny people every substance, activity, etc that could cause an addiciton (be it mention or chemical or emotional) then our society will be slowly turning into a horribly censored empire. If someone doesn't go for help when they think "huh, this game bores me now, lets go act it out" it's not the games fault.

I Hate Cell Phones Being unavailable rules
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Sarah81's topic in Science and Technology
Depends what you mean by 'need'. 9 times out of 10 its just a conveinience item. There are payphones in most public places, and if you're out at a friends or whatnot you can always use their phone. The only time its actually a necessity is if you need to make a call on the road or whatever, in which case your wife would still be able to use it for that purpose. -
I agree with the group thought that this is indeed a good thing. Personally I'm ahppy with firefox as it is so I'm not going to be dieing with anticipation over this, but its good to know some major work is being done on it.

I think I'm going to apply to become a city planner, and when they ask for my credentials just slide forward the copies of various Sim City games that I own and assume that those are enough. Cause you know... if I do it in a videogame... it counts as if in real life.A)Just because these punks had NFS in their car, doesn't mean thats why they were street racing. Me and my friends have raced since before we had any form of illegal street racing media. Sure we are smart enough not to do it somewhere populated, but its not like seeing this in games convinced us to start weaving in and out of traffic.B)Videogames don't cause **** unless the person involved was already unstable. Thats like if I told someone a fake story about a man who can fly if he wants to reeeeeally badly. Then that person goes and jumps off a bridge. Is it my fault he was a complete idiot? Not so much. Sure games might put ideas into someones head, but its their choice whether or not to re-enact them. Otherwise we'll need to start censoring all media... and dont get me started on thatC)This is getting old fast. I hope they move onto blaming something new for all the evil in the world soon (personally, I think cows are responsible for all the **** thats going on...I mean... the way they just stand around all day... thats messed up)

I Hate Cell Phones Being unavailable rules
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Sarah81's topic in Science and Technology
Personally I only use my cell much on weekends so I can find people/they can find me for when we are going out, but during the week its off most of the time and I just use it to make calls, rarely to receive them. Then again I'm not a social butterfly either way so that might contribute to that.On a side note about the text messaging being almost more popular now... isn't it weird that we went from having the tech to send text (letters) to the tech to send voices (phone) and then it seemed amazing to revert to a different way of sending text? which for all intents and purposes is inferior as far as normal conversations go... just something I've always found kinda funny. -
Your Opinion Please: Shopping For A New OS
Jeigh1405241495 replied to m3ch4's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'd agree with the linux idea. If you only use it for basic tasks then even if you are a complete linux newbie it won't matter. I'd reccomend Ubuntu if you are indeed new to linux since it has amazing hardware auto-detection/setup and their forums will tell you the answers to any other question you have. Also all the debian based distros have apt-get, making obtaining and installing software a breeze. This is why Mepis is also reccomended by myself. But if you aren't doing anything complex on it, any linux is your best bet. -
Yea I've seen people playing the xbox version and it loks alright but you can tell the hardware wasn't meant to handle that game. The pc version is where its at. Regardless Iw ould agree that the game is indeed outstanding. The atmosphere is great, the story is well done, the voice acting and characters are all great and they managed to tie in bits of the first game without going overboard so that people who hadn't played the first would be lost. The game accomplished everything it set out to do, and did them all perfectly. Some complain that it wasn't revolutionary, well... it probably wasn't trying to be.. seeing as it was a sequel

I assume Sli notebooks are meant for DTRs (desktop replacements) NOT for mobile units. I mean they are mobile in the sense its easy to take it front point A to point B but they likely aren't intended to take to school and game through every class without a power outlet nearby :)Still impressive that they are bringing this to the notebook market... I kind of assumed this would be desktop only for quite some time

Canadian 39th General Elections Results
Jeigh1405241495 replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in General Discussion
I was surprised that the green party got as much of the popular vote that it did, close to 4.5% if I remember correctly. But they still didn't get a seat so that's probably a good thing http://enr.elections.ca/ElectoralDistricts.aspx shows a listing of all the results, and lets you see how many crazy *bottom* parties there are.I had never heard of the AACEV party, which doesn't surprise me since it got a whole 72 votes. I agree thought that I would have preferred the liberals to stay in power... I was hoping they'd win with a minority government by a very slim margin, just so they realized they need to shape up, but to not let the conservatives have the reigns. Ah well, I'm sure we'll be back to the polls in a year or two haha. -
Yea I had read a review already of the 1900 (toms hardware I believe) that said it was one hella powerful little beast. More power in single or dual card configs then the 7800gtx and they've started working on power consumption so its actually a lower power consumption then the 1800. I wouldn't mind seeing ati hold the top spots for awhile again but I'm sure the next wave of cards will be out before I hit "add reply"

I remember the days of piles of floppies to store my games, *sniff* ah the golden days

My high school had policies against pretty much everything so they wouldn't have let us have school hosted sites, but my university has them as long as they follow guidelines and I can imagine they'd be screwed if they got stuck in a deal like that. Then again they handle their own storage, but thats not the point. $100 a gig is freaking retarded... I say just break in and steal all their servers... or do the sniper idea thing... either works...

Yea, we really are nice, aren't we?Heh, welcome to the boards, I actually have seen you around in another topic already, but thought I'd say hey anyways. Hope you enjoy your stay. Sit back, relax, have a drink, and don't let the llama spit on you...
