  1. I had a bad experience with this kind of thing just last week :(I was in my computer graphics course and I had had problems with Photoshop on my computer, so the teacher had contacted the admins to get it reinstalled or whatever. So, I was trying to get onto GMail, but the admins had been blocking all sorts of sites lately, all e-mail prviders that I know of. So, I knew that prxify.us was blocked, and a lot of people know that you can get to some sites through the https protocol, so I try that. And then there's a phone call. It's the admin. The teacher comes over to me, asks me to save my work and let him sit down. Now the mouse had been laggy a little, and the icon down in the tool tray was black, the WinVNC or whatever. These are two signs that they are remote accessing your comuter So, the teacher sits down and says, that was the administrator, and he said that you were trying to bypass the firewall. And I was like... ****. So I just said I was trying to check my e-mail and the teacher said I wasn't really supposed to, and blah blah blah. I had other programs installed on the computer as well LOL, which makes 2 breeches of the agreement I made in using the school's computer. So, that was hanging over my head for that whole day, till I had the class again next day. Luckily, the reformatted my computer sort of, the wallpaper was reset to the Windows default and PS was working. So, I deleted the program files of the programs I had had installed, but I can't access the registry due to account restrictions. I'm just glad they didn't do anything further than kick me off for 20 mins of class that first day and that they didn't find my other programs Be careful trying to bypass the filters and firewalls
  2. Dream, I have AdAware, I have Firefox (check the screenies ) which is why I was able to post this thread while my IE was messed up. And I believe HijackThis tells you not to delete everything because it only brings up questionable items, not branded bad files. Thanks for the help I'll try booting in safemode and cleaning my comp up a little too.
  3. About the thread title, yeah, it is possible, a few people at my school live without computers.
  4. I think I understand what you mean. I think that I will have the light intensify a little, but not too much, when you mouse over it and also have the plugin icons appear down below maybe. Or actually, aren't there like ActiveX controls or something that you can have run where that certificate comes up saying it's from Macromedia and the user accepts?? Or I think Flash has a function to go and get the user's version of the Flash Player. I could tell it that if it's not the most current open a new window with the download in it. Here's what I have now, added a bevel to the top and bottom.
  5. Here it is: It's called OCR A Extended and I don't know where I got it but I think it might have been a default... don't know. Anyway, here's the font file: https://www.hightail.com/ Cheers
  6. If you think about it, aliens would have to have nearly equal or greater transmission-reception equipment in order to hear/trannsmit to us. Also, if they were spotted anywhere near the Earth, they would have to possess lightspeed capable aircraft in order to reach our planet within any reasonable timespan.
  7. Update I'm thinking I might slice this up and maybe make the center a flash animation and make the shine flash across repeatedly every few seconds or so and then I'll have links to Macromedia's (or maybe it's Adobe's now...) Flash Player and other things needed underneath.
  8. If it's Mac to Mac, I don't know what you mean. I mean, you could e-mail it to yourself, FTP it to your webspace, use a USB key, MP3 player, CD, etc. There are so many options. If the computers are in the same room or you're planning on going to the person's house, I'd go with USB or MP3 player transfer. Otherwise, you could have them download it, if they have a good connection.
  9. Here's just a little something I threw together after school last night. I'm looking to make it into a splash for a website maybe. I'm thinking about adding some details on the sides. I've been playing around with hieroglyphics a little bit, sort of faded and worn away in some spots, but I need just the right effect of engraved but worn symbols. Or maybe something else, but I'm not sure just yet.
  10. This is stupid. You're the one who posted in the shoutbox, "How do I get all my posts on this forum?" I see, so you've just decided to post stupid things... I see a stupid 1 sentence long post with a vote, this post, and a post similar to this one talking about some flash intro you want someone to make for you... I'm sorry, but these don't seem like legitimate posts. I could go make a post about cake, pie, and bread just to get my post count, but I don't. The idea of this board is to get help and to help people as well. It doesn't seem like you're trying to do that to me...
  11. I downloaded HijackThis and here's what I found that it was. I think I might e-mail that guy back who has the mymailgenie.com and mymailtracker.com domains registered and tell him off and show him this screeny, and say, owned n00b. Thanks for the help
  12. Ninja Monkey was taken in this game... although I'd never seen the person online... ever. So, I went with Ninja Munky Been my login and screenname and stuff for a long time ever since.
  13. I'm not sure what happened... I've been messing around a little bit with boot screens and login screens today, but for some reason my IE homepage looks like this. http://echo.cx/banque-en-ligne/ And when you click the link to go to the webpage, it goes to this. http://echo.cx/banque-en-ligne/ I know that that is not a real error page. I also did some research. This domain is owned by some guy who also owns one called mymailgenie.com There doesn't seem to be any information on either of the sites, and they are basically the same site just different names and domains and one's unfinished. I e-mailed a semi-firey e-mail hoping that they'll send me info on how to get rid of it. I've been trying to do adware scans and stuff, but nothing seems to be getting it. Anyone have any ideas?
  14. I like it so fay. Just browsing the net with it, seems alright.
  15. Links incorrectly posted in this thread... ActionXchange Good Tutorials
  16. Self-taught and some newbie stuff in a few classes. Mostly I analyzed scripts of other people's and stuff like that.
  17. If you're doing or thinking of doing your site in with php, there's an include function you can use for that. It's nice, maybe look it up <? include("filename.php") ?>
  18. I use Firefoxe's, but otherwise I wouldn't use one, since they can sometimes truncate files and such. I guess they're probably getting better now though, don't know.
  19. No, you need more than that. Something like: <iframe src="doc.html"> There's also other parameters that you can include. Check HERE for details.
  20. I recommend Irfanview for saving icons. http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm Also, does it need to be named favicon?? I would think you could name it whatever you want as long as you adjust the location accordingly.
  21. I like the concept, but I feel like the execution of your idea could be bettered. I think that the black should be more sharp and defined against the background, and maybe even add some complexity to the background, like a curve going across the back dividing it into 2 sections of similar tone but different lightnesses, or something like that. Just some ideas you might want to play arond with. The main thing is that the photos look like they have been stretched out and pixels have been interpolated.
  22. I'm 52 honor. I quit to play some other games for like 5 months or so, and then last night I had an interesting experience.A guy was laying in the doorway up the hall from S/R to the tertiary and I got him from down in the S/R stairs; he had the clear advantage. So I die, and in all caps, he writes something about me using hacks, and blah blah blah. So, I said, "You got a caps problem?" and he accused me directly of using hacks. So, I just put it to him simply and said, "You just got owned by someone 2 honor points above you who hasn't played for a solid 5 months, sit down and shut up." Maybe the language was more harsh than that, I don't remember And even though honor points mean next to nothing, they come in handy when speaking to crybaby n00bs WCSE is my favorite map.
  23. Nah, I don't think so. I think that the US has learned it's leason from the A-Bomb. I'm not saying this for sure, but I do think that if anything, we would plan to use it only as a last resort.
  24. On the popular maddox.xmission.com website, he claims that he uses a black background and yellow or white text because it's easier on the eyes than a light background. I think that's about right.
