It's still quite sad that my 5 year old machine is considered an up-to-date system (the processor is pre-HT). Yet it still scores 3.7 (close to being high-end) according to WEI. However, as tomshardware said, it's only in relation to Windows and not to the actual hardware benchmarking. I think it's just that Microsoft just wants to steal Adobe's thunder just like how they introduced the XPS to compete with PDF.I stand behind Flash because it's the industry standard and shouldn't be changed by Microsoft.Even if something is going to surpass Flash, I think it would be JavaFX instead of SilverLight.xboxrulz

It's not a rumour, but a fact. Also shown in the documentary Pirates of Silicon Valley Macs are UNIX based and they are also simple or even more simple than Windows. You don't see that happening, having millions of users flocking to Apple immediately. However, Apple's computer shares are gaining traction since Windows Vista came out. xboxrulz

It's not a problem. It's how Microsoft built the system to behave like that. Just click the wallpaper again to have the white box deselected. If you seriously get annoyed by the white box, revert your theme back to Windows Classic.You'll lose the Aero and Vista look, but at least the "problem" is gone.xboxrulz

Well, you must first install hplip into your Ubuntu system. Then use the hplip-setup tool to install your printer. Use the guide and it will be smooth from there on in.Assuming that your network works already.xboxrulz

Most drivers are compatible with Windows Vista unless you install the Windows Vista X64 (however, it's highly recommended if you have a 64-bit processor). It's also rumoured that the next Windows will only support 64-bit. xboxrulz

I have Windows Vista and I don't recommend it unless you got it with a new computer since it lags horribly if you don't have the sufficient amount of RAM, cache and a good processor.My system meets every single requirement, but since my processor is too old for Vista, it lags in gaming.That's why I opted for console gaming.xboxrulz

It's great to have the beta! The graphics and physics are great in the new Halo 3 Beta. The graphics are NOT the same as Halo 2 as some cows (Ps3 fanboys) have said. Maps are a lot bigger and expansive. Some guns like the Assault Rifle and the Battle Rifle has been dumbed down so that it's no longer all guns. However, the game is not glitch-free either. Some glitches include: zoom in when you didn't even press the zoom button. Messed up colour when you're firing at people and you're being fired at the same time. If Windows was based on UNIX, that would solve so many hectic Windows problem that we now have today. Security would be so much easier to handle and so much stronger.xboxrulz

That's true, Apple and Microsoft has always oriented computer users to GUIs. However, I do understand that GUIs are very important. I use it all the time. However, for something fast and simple like checking the system specifications, system uptime, and editing small configuration files, it's much faster in the command line than using the GUI. However, the people at X.Org need to make the X server smaller and faster to load. X on Linux can be very clunky on older machines. Good news is that it's not as clunky as Vista. As for support, that's where companies charge you money for. That's the only way they can earn money from you. I bet that Dell will sell it to you for cheap, give you like a 1 year free support, then after that you must pay them for support, just like what Apple does. xboxrulz

Ya, it's a known issue. However, other distributions like OpenSUSE has it built into its highly easy to use YaST2.I always recommend OpenSUSE over Ubuntu anytime. In fact, I never liked Ubuntu B)xboxrulz

At my school, the adoption rate shows that Apple isn't winning by too much. The full adoption rate shows that there are 2 more laptops run MacOS X than the numbers that run Linux. These users are usually not technically oriented. So, I guess I wonder how it'll turn out. From using my high school as the basis of my studies (approximately 300 people), at least half of the population has a laptop and about 20% - 25% of those are Macs compared to the previous school year of about less than 15%. Of those Macs, 60% are PPC based while the rest are Intel based. This study is of course unscientific as I just count the amount of Apple laptops to the laptops I've counted while walking through the hallways. xboxrulz

It's still weird that your PowerPC processor got beaten by Intel processor. I thought PowerPCs were more efficient and faster than x86s.xboxrulz

That's true. The MacOS X wasn't designed for other hardware and Apple makes sure it won't. I tried it, but since my computer doesn't have SSE3, I gave up because it was too slow. However, we are bound by forum rules to not discuss this.Therefore, topic locked.xboxrulz

After 8 versions of Windows and never got satisfied with any of them, I don't think Microsoft will get a superb release. This of course, is in my opinion.xboxrulz

Windows Vista is an ok system, not the best though. Why? It takes too much resources, therefore, it sucks on that end. Else, it's ok.xboxrulz

Well, let's not be racists here. It is just a fact that South Koreans have the largest MMORPG (and Starcraft) players in the world. A percentage will participate in gaming binges, and is causing many to die as we can see here. xboxrulz
