  1. hmmm... digital media streaming, I know is great, but IMO, networks are still slower than read from disc. I think optical discs will stick for a while. Both formats have the exact same content protection system called AACS: Advanced Access Content System. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Access_Content_System Where can I find a HD-DVD burner? xboxrulz
  2. OUCH! They've also announced the price in February. Source: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xboxrulz
  3. Well, let's wait until the chips come on the market, then people can see if there are any drawbacks, because right now, there are none. It works just like the IBM PowerPC 970 chips, but a lot cooler and power efficient.xboxrulz
  4. I just swapped my computer back to the WINNT 5.x series because Vista is way too slow for gaming on PC. Even running Battlefield 2142 at 800x600, it lags like crap. Specs: Yes, my computer is old, but I have to live with it, I don't have money for a new one. Best to wait until you buy a new computer with at least 2 GB of RAM. xboxrulz
  5. Update: I was actually wrong about the 25W. That's only if the processors were overloaded. Usually, the processor will ONLY use 5 - 13W!!! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xboxrulz
  6. I think he/she has the minimum requirements as Black and White is a REALLY OLD SKOOL game.xboxrulz
  7. Cool, goodluck nightfox! You get a "igloo-chilly" Canadian support from me ... too bad I can't send you a Tim Hortons coffee to cheer you on :ph34r:xboxrulz
  8. State as in the United States? or State as in an invidual state?xboxrulz
  9. I'd rather just install Internet Explorer 6 over WINE.xboxrulz
  10. I ran out of good movies to watch, played the exact same XBOX 360 game over and over again ... don't have money to buy new games ... so I guess this is the best alternative :ph34r:Plus, I love penguins ... why not watch it and break my old record :)xboxrulz
  11. Recently, my buddy compiled a list on Facebook about these two technologies, so I want to share it with the Xisto community and to see what their feelings are on these two technology. Source: HD DVD or BLUE RAY Facebook Group - Ups and downs There's only one thing I didn't agree with him is that HD-DVD can project 1080p natively. I also checked the two main competitor's website for their cheapest standalone players with similar features: Sony's BDPS1 Blu-ray Disc™ Player is CA$1,299.99 Toshiba's HD-A20 HD-DVD Player is CA$599.00 Included next-generation disc readers are: Sony Playstation 3, Bluray drive already included. XBOX 360, CA$199.99 add-on, via USB I personally already backing the HD-DVD format because it's very similar to the DVD technology and most HD-DVD discs can be read on standard DVD players, so it's like a 2 in 1 package. Plus, Toshiba has already developed a prototype triple layer disc that has 51 GB of capacity. Your thoughts? xboxrulz
  12. Man, I love this movie. However, it hasn't broken my record of watching the exact same movie over and over again. The record currently is watching Spaceballs 10 times. Steve Irwin's original Albatross scene: Steve Irwin's Elephant Seal scene: *Both pictures come from the Fullscreen DVD. @leafbunk and Mark420: it's all about matter of opinion, I love Happy Feet, but maybe you two love other films. =) xboxrulz
  13. 1. Mumble sounds very funny in Quebec French 2. Creators messed up the seasons in the movie in Antarctica 3. You miss tons of things watching the movie without subtitles 4. Ramon and Lovelace are the same person, just that Robin Williams can have 2 very different voices. 5. Baby Mumble's voice actor is the same one from Rugrats for Tommy. 6. Steve Irwin had the crappiest role in the final movie, only 2 - 3 lines. They should've used his original role. 7. Characters were actually speaking during the Blizzard scene, turn on your subtitles!! 8. Baby Mumble wiggles his tail when he's dancing. 9. When helicopter enters "Emperor Land", Noah swears and says "Holy Flock!" 10. The song "Let's talk about sex", is "Let's talk about eggs" 11. There is almost no way in hell to understand everything that Memphis is saying. Turn on your subtitles. 12. The movie is not only about the "ugly duckling" or try hard and you shall succeed or even "Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer" but also, it shows human carelessness can lead to grand mistakes that they will eventually make (ref. Memphis dropping the egg), human's fear of the unknown (ref. "The Aliens") 13. The song "I Love Big Butts" is not in the French voiceover. 14. The Fullscreen version is actually a "pan-and-scan" and cuts out much of the background when compared with the full movie in Widescreen mode. 15. When the amigos are singing in Spanish, subtitles are unavailable. 16. Subtitles can be missing some key words when actors say their lines too fast. 17. The extra features on the DVD-ROM (which requires the computer) doesn't work. Even when you installed it and following the instructions fully. It's a great movie none-the-less. I've been watching it at least once every week on my XBOX 360 . Too bad I don't have an HD-DVD player so I can watch it every week on HD-DVD. xboxrulz
  14. Apparently, this only works in European locations. Plus, all the routes show that you must go through New York and Paris.xboxrulz
  15. I understand where you're coming from. However, through tons of system designs, apparently, the closer the things are, the less energy it requires, thus dramatically reduces heat.Like for example, the current 90nm Xenon processors used in the XBOX 360 cause some to overheat, but this issue is to be solved with the 65nm chip. In fact, it is also cheaper and would run cooler than the 90nm versions.xboxrulz
  16. Just wait for K8L and Intel will get the surprise coming from it. I love AMD processors, but I didn't quite like it when they bought out ATi.xboxrulz
  17. Straight from the source: Bungie.net Finally, we Halo fans can get a taste of the beta test really soon any I'm psyched to try it out. I gotta definitely work out my kinks on Halo 2 before going on the Halo 3 beta test Also, the latest ViDoc is available on XBOX Live Marketplace, for those who already have an XBOX 360. For the unfortunate ones, click here for the PC version. xboxrulz
  18. The anticipated update for the XBOX 360 is coming out really soon! Now there are even better updates including having the Marketplace having its own blade, Windows Live Messenger integration, low-power setting when downloading stuff off XBOX Live Marketplace! For more infomation, click here (Blog photo courtesy of Gamespot): http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-360-spring-update/1100-6168727/ EDIT: Just on XBOX.COM, there's even more features!! * The name of game in tray is now displayed in the dashboard. * When the user is in the dashboard and an Xbox 360 game is in the console then the name of the game is displayed in the tray icon of the dashboard. If the user highlights the tray icon then achievements and gamer score are displayed for that game based on the signed in user. Xbox1 games show the name and image of the game. * Integrated support for the new Xbox 360 text input device. Note that this device includes a new wired headset. * Playback progress bar indicates download completion. * Switchable aspect ratio now available during video playback (Auto to Letterbox, Zoom, Stretch, Native). * Player and friends lists now quickly show session presence information for quick identification of users that are joinable. * Added H.264 video support: Up to 10 Mbps peak, Baseline, Main, and High profiles with 2 channel AAC LC. * Added MPEG-4 Part 2 video support: Up to 5 Mbps peak, Simple Profile with 2 channel AAC LC. * Show folder hierarchy for video content played from all devices. * Bookmarks are stored for each video that the user plays remembering the users last location in the file as well as the aspect ratio that the user choose for that file. * Video trick modes (fast forward, rewind, chapter skip) can now be used while downloading Video Marketplace content. * Skip forward and backward functionality has been improved to skip to the next or previous chapter. Each video is divided into 10 “chapters” allowing you to quickly skip around video content. * The information bar that is turned on via the On Screen Display (OSD) now shows you exactly where you are in the playback of the video file. In addition it will also show for Video Marketplace content how much of the file has been downloaded and where the “chapters” exist in the file. * Windows Media protected content (WM-DRM) can now be streamed from the PC to the console. If the WM-DRM license is missing or corrupted then a specific error message is displayed to the user. Bookmarking is also stored for protected content. * When a user selects an item for download from Marketplace then the system will determine if there is sufficient disk space for the item and, if not, will ask the user to delete content on the HDD. The system provides a sorted by size list of videos, game trailers, demos and arcade content to aid the user in the deletion process. The same list of items are also available from within memory so that users can quickly see which items are consuming the most disk space. * The console will block the user who attempts to download content onto a storage device that will never have the capacity to store the item without deducting any points associated with the content item. * The screensaver is disabled when playing photos from any source Source: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xboxrulz
  19. The less energy required means a cooler processor, which means that overheating is less of a chance. A standard heatsink should be able to vent out the heat since it generates less heat than a traditional processor anyways. That's true, over-overclocking is really bad. Plus, you never know if you might screw up the GBe and the memory controller built into the chip (ref. PWRficient processor). xboxrulz
  20. Usually more performance = more power usage but not, that same performance require less power than before. Therefore, for instance, your machine (Core 2 Duo) is 2.5 GHz, it will use 65W TDP. However, the PWRfficient processors at 2.0 GHz will only use, at worst 25W. The performance for both chips are identical (although the clock speed is different), thus saves energy. Mainly due to the fact the ethernet, PCI-X and the memory controllers are all built in the same chip. Therefore eliminating chip-to-chip hops. Thus reduces latency and power usage. Since the PWRfficient was ideally built for server-space, and designed especially for clusters, we can use the Intel Xeon Sossaman vs. P.A Semi's PWRfficient processor: Source: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xboxrulz
  21. I'm not quite sure about a PowerPC based Mac's inner working. However, I don't think a regular PC ATX is the same with the Macs. I suggest asking the pros at Apple Forums: https://discussions.apple.com/welcome xboxrulz
  22. Virtual machines will create a file that acts as a Virtual Hard Disc for your virtual machine so you won't have to deal with a lot partitioning crap. It's great for testing operating systems and plus, it will not screw up the bootloaders either. Recommened amount of RAM for your host (primary OS) is 1 GB+. Recommended for Linux in Virtual Machine: 256MB. Also, don't bother running a virtual machine in Windows Vista if you don't have at least 2 GB of memory! xboxrulz
