  1. This tip is so obvious, even I think people's grandparents know that too.DUH!xboxrulz
  2. If you follow the steps as designated by the website, you shouldn't run into any problems!xboxrulz
  3. The last time I got a BSoD from Windows was during the Vista Beta Program or when I was using Windows XP. So far no crashes, but I do agree that Firefox's recovery system is great.I got to love their extension system. I can't live without my Facebook Toolbar and my JogaTV companion B)xboxrulz
  4. I'm locking this topic as it discusses illegal content.xboxrulz
  5. It gobbles up 48% with no extra programs running (only services and start-up programs consisting of WLM, Skype, AVG, QuickTime QuickStarter and OpenOffice) and like 55+% when I do other stuff and Battlefield 2142 just LAGS.I think it's that my FSB is slow.xboxrulz
  6. Sure it's simple, but not when you want to use the Run As function, which can get annoying if you are running as standard user and want to do system wide changes xboxrulz
  7. Hell, I rather go for Windows Server 2003 than Windows 2000 any day for speed and security. It is simply the best Windows ever (for now).I rather go Linux or MacOS X anyday!xboxrulz
  8. I'm pretty sure that's exactly how they are actually earning money =). Plus, this is how they give you premium free hosting services xboxrulz
  9. I've always like Mozilla Firefox: free, safe, open source and best of all, no stupid Windows Genuine Advantage crap.xboxrulz
  10. I highly suggest you get at least 20 credits to change domain name since at least you get 5 credits as backup so your account won't get suspended right after you change your domain.xboxrulz
  11. I detest GAIM, developers who uses that library, I shun their software. That library has one major flaw that deters me from even using it. It doesn't have realtime server synchronization which is very annoying when you're trying to reorganize your contacts and jump on another computer and find out nothing changed! I rather use libkopete. xboxrulz
  12. Another useless innovation IMHO and it's very similar to GMail's GTalk offer. However, there are those who would actually use it. I prefer a stand-alone web messenger like the MSN Web Messenger.Plus, they already have a stand-alone Web Messenger, so I was thinking ... "why bother?"xboxrulz
  13. Use the 64-bit version so you will get greater performance as the 64-bit has a better memory access than the 32-bit applications. If you don't have any "exotic" devices, you should get the 64-bit version. Else, stick with 32-bit.xboxrulz
  14. I live by my computer. Even I use my laptop to take notes at school. I have integrated computers into my life. If you take away my laptop, it's like taking away all the pencil and paper for a student.xboxrulz
  15. Problem is that it runs Vista. However, I can't even play Battlefield 2142 at 1280x1024 on lowest settings, the fram rates are jumpy and laggy. The AGP4X and PC2100 RAM is lagging me behind. My bro has a newer machine with full AGP and PC3200 and it runs great. Also, the processor is the one that is ranked the lowest of them all.xboxrulz
  16. Exactly what u said above. I'm going to retire my 80GB HDD and use it for my experiments or I'll also use it as an external HDD to install other OSes. As for the 120GB, I did say that I'm going to put it as an external disc to replace my 80GB as the data drive =) Anyways, thanks for your comments guys =)! xboxrulz
  17. There are those who do want Basic instead since they have no use of Premium. Especially the low end PC systems. Even I installed Basic on my PC, because I have no use of other functions that I don't need.xboxrulz
  18. For those who don't know, it's been 5 years since I got a desktop, and now I'm pondering if I should overhaul my rig (getting a new one is NOT an option). I'm going to fuse both old and new parts together to overhaul my current rig. My main concerns are: speed, durability, extendability and cheap. My budget is approxiately $500 max. My current rig: Intel Pentium 4 2533 MHz Northwood 512KB L2 Cache 130nm process 61.5W (pre-HT) ASUSTek P4B533-VM Socket 478 120 GB Maxtor ATA-133 (8MB Cache), 7200 RPM 80 GB WDD ATA-100 (8 MB Cache), 7200 RPM 1 GB Kingston PC3200 (running @ PC2100 speed) NVIDIA GeForce 6600 AGP (running 4x) 1x DVD burner 1x CD-RW WEI: 3.7 (CPU, lowest) (Inside of my current rig) Planned rig: AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.0 GHz Windsor 512KBx2 L2 Cache 90nm process 65W ASUS M2A-VM Socket AM2 (w/ Integrated ATI Radeon X1200, 256 MB shared) Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA NCQ 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache (OEM) 120 GB Maxtor ATA-133 (8MB Cache), 7200 RPM (external) Corsair DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz Value Select 2GB KIT (2X1024MB) 240-pin Unbuffered DIMM 1x DVD burner 1x CD-RW Cost: $386.41 (price and parts from canadacomputers.com. 19. That system sounds ancient, makes my 7 year old laptop sound like top-of-the-line . Try some minimalistic OS, or try ReactOS.xboxrulz
  20. The reason why I run Vista is because I need the newest Windows Movie Maker to get the Nero plugins to work with it. The Movie Maker in Windows XP doesn't work with them.Another reason is that they streamlined the Run As function, which I use very regularly. Other than that, aside from gaming, there's no other reason to run Vista this year.xboxrulz
  21. Thing is, I don't think we need to a complete overhaul of the GUI (as in how we interact with the interface), I think universally, we accepted Mac's Dock/Toolbar and Windows' Start Menu/Taskbar combo.I think they should fix all the problems before creating something new that may cause more problems in the future.xboxrulz
  22. Sounds like the user directory is out of whack. The problems you listed aren't system anomalies. Try ethergeek's suggestion. If it doesn't work, please feel free to reply!xboxrulz
  23. I keep Firefox because of the Joga function for Firefox and the Facebook toolbar is so much better than the Facebook Opera widget.xboxrulz
  24. This is the same with Freewebs. Both services suck ever since they were conceived of. I rather build my page via Geocities.xboxrulz
  25. I find Windows Server 2003 the best Windows ever. Rock solid, super fast, not much headaches (except that disabled UPnP!!) xboxrulz
