  1. Actually there's still a performance boost since most modern day operating systems themselves support SMP. Thereby, the operating system can reassign the software to which core they know isn't being taxed the at the moment. It's quite nifty. For example, there's a 10 - 20% boost when comparing AMD Athlon 64 3800+ and its dual core brother the Athlon 64 X2 3800+.xboxrulz
  2. Actually, I DO NOT recommend you to use any RC software for main usage as the software may change significantly until it is stable.xboxrulz
  3. Also try to allocate more Shared Graphics Memory to the system.xboxrulz
  4. Also, doesn't Ubuntu clear the boot-up sequence after boot-up? I hate Ubuntu because it never prints out a verbose version of what's going on.xboxrulz
  5. MercuryBoard was only came to reality in 2002 :s. How did you use it in 1998?xboxrulz

  9. I think it's in your friend's best interest to just buy a new computer. There are computers that are approximately US$300 - 400 floating around from Acer, HP and other large companies. Most of them now also run Windows Vista, so you don't need to worry about if it works with Vista. xboxrulz
  10. Please post the boost.1st file here. Also, do NOT edit it unless you know what you're doing. Furthermore, try logging in with the Command Line Interface.xboxrulz
  11. I don't really think the market is ready for a teraflop processor. Then again, maybe in a year or two, my post is invalid.xboxrulz
  12. I'd put a FAT32, but there is that really annoying 2GB per file limit that I hate. 2GB isn't enough for a lot of my files anymore.xboxrulz
  13. For me, I even disabled the Theme service on my computer to speed up the boot time. Just click Start --> Run, then type services.msc (make sure you're already admin). Then scroll down to find themes. Right click the service, hit properties. In the drop down box (by default) that says "Automatic", change that to "Disabled". Hit ok.xboxrulz
  14. I just installed phpBB3 onto my website's area51. You can play with the board here, without much restrictions. However, I may delete it at will: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xboxrulz
  15. The mail interface doesn't automatically sign into your install Yahoo! Messenger if you don't have it installed. It allows you to web message people within the interface. I have Yahoo! Mail since my ISP uses Yahoo!'s servers for their email services. xboxrulz
  16. Now you guys just got me interested in seeing what's different about PHPBB 3. I got sick of 2.x since it was too bulky and boring. However, it still doesn't match the speed of Quicksilver Forums. EDIT: PHPBB3 isn't stable yet though. xboxrulz
  17. Of course a quad core is better than a dual core. What was he thinking?xboxrulz
  18. No problems here ... I think there's a little problem with the sever lately if 2 users are saying that there are problems.xboxrulz
  19. You know what, I'm starting to run out of games, so I guess I'm jumping to back to AASFxboxrulz
  20. Someone's going to laugh at me, but I think CS is too fast! I play Source and your character moves so fast that my eyes starts blurring and then when I want to shoot, I'm already shot because my eyes are still trying to process with the hell just happened.I prefer AASF, Battlefield 2142, and Halo 2 for this reason, it's slower pace.xboxrulz
  21. wow, I must say that the circuitry inside that PSU will die faster than ones with stable power (my power never dips lower than 120V unless there's a heavy storm). The lowest my machine was running on was 90V (My school installed a voltage meter for the stage) during my school play since we plugged too many high voltage lights into the same breaker.xboxrulz
  22. Yes, but it will require approval. https://support.xisto.com/ xboxrulz
