I don't think it is possible to even boot off a memory stick, unless your BIOS has that option. Last check that you can only boot from optical discs, hard drives and networks. I'm not so sure about memory sticks.Plus, if you could, you must have something installed in the storage in order for the computer to even boot from your memory card.xboxrulz

I think companies should focus more on memory instead of storage since the speed of memory still is creating bottlenecks for the CPU.xboxrulz

Make sure you use the fast format version when formatting the drive. It's so much faster.xboxrulz

Maybe the only reason why I WOULD buy the hard drive is to look cool with the cutting edge tech, but its really useless at the moment.xboxrulz

Web Designers Can Have A Myspace Too!
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to mtnbluet's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think MySpace is just as bad as Piczo. Both these website suck. I rather stick with Facebook and have a webhosting account for my website where I can do anything legal I want to do.xboxrulz -

Yup, the fourth one looks the best IMHO, so I guess you should update that one then. That one seriously need some anti-aliasing going on there.xboxrulz -
1TB? Not in the near future, nor do I see myself even using that much space. It'll take me a couple years to fill 1TB. It took me 5 years to fill 80GB (pure data).xboxrulz

I'm sure it's a live render via some DLL file and not some like AVI files. I don't actually mind the default animations. Hell, as long as my files get copied, I'm happy. Else, I'll have to crack open DOS (which is hellish, I rather do UNIX).xboxrulz

It's not common since who in the world have so much time to post at two forums and make sure that their credits don't dip? I sure don't have that time.xboxrulz -
Open Source Vs Proprietary Softwares Comparative Studay
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to Anne Tan's topic in Software
"It's coming and parts of it is here" - Quoting a Bungie employee on Halo 3. However, I apply this quote on the opensource movement's success. It's a trend indeed, but it will take a long time before it's the norm across the border. Opensource software still doesn't have the full support of the people across the world. That's even if it's Mozilla Firefox (which is the most successful at the moment). Firefox only has about 15% of the market share. Internet Explorer has about 75%. The rest are smaller browsers like Opera and Safari.I support almost all open source software, but that doesn't mean I don't use proprietary software. You always use them when playing a game for instance.xboxrulz -

@faulty.lee: i see.@axeffect: It's a great suggestion, but most people wouldn't accept buying an Apple. Although, I for one highly recommend Apple whenever possible. Great machines. I love it especially if it's PowerPC based.xboxrulz -

@TheBoutique: Don't use CAPS LOCK unless it's something really important.@faulty.lee, if you have an extra monitor at home just use the external monitor as your primary when you're home and while on the go, use your laptop's LCD monitor. Works both ways, right?xboxrulz -

Performance Impact Of Deinstalling Fonts?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to dserban's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Maybe you should then. Also, 384 MB is bare minimum. The industry standard is 1GB at the moment while gamers will opt for 2GB.xboxrulz -

Its figures are old, its according to 2005, not the latest. Plus, their memory configurations are different. I know that Core 2 Duo is a great chip, but it's too expensive to achieve the same performance of RAW power/$. Its performance/watt is not really different than AMD's either. xboxrulz -

Usually, the larger the screen, the more power it sucks. Just stick to the conventional maximum of 17 inch.xboxrulz -
'disk Read Error Message' On Start Up Error
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to 9em-x's topic in Hardware Workshop
It's either that or your operating system had failed. That also happens to pre-Vista OSes. On Vista it would be like BOOTMGR compressed, press CTRL+ALT+DEL or NTLDMGR is compressed, press CTRL+ALT+DEL.xboxrulz -
Performance Impact Of Deinstalling Fonts?

The default set would be fine. Usually fonts don't initialize until you start a program that requires that font.xboxrulz -

I played around with two laptops, both Acers. One of them was a Core 2 Duo and the other was a Turion 64 X2. Both lasted maximum of 2 hours on batteries. As for the response to Core 2 Duo, it's coming Fall 2007 with the new Phenoms. It uses even less power than Core 2 Duo! (Well, at least the EE versions) xboxrulz -

Of course turning off services will boost performance. It tags less memory and processor processing.xboxrulz
