Well, I have to admit that I did use tables to generate my lay out. Mainly because it was the first time using tables to put a graphic up I do realize that CSS can get the same result and I am looking into it. But I am also working on redoing my site and converting it to php, which is trickier than I had anticipated. So when you find how exactly to do this in CSS, let us know :PI do want to add, that not all broswers support all CSS2 features (IE is the browser I am reffering to of course). This is the case with the a:hover effects in a nested list for example. (To create pop out effects like the ones you get with JavaScript, but then without JavaScript)

I have the same issues as everyone else. There was a server issue or something, I don't know exactly what happened, but the gist of it is that the passwords don't work anymore. Nils or m^e can't fix it, it's something OpaQue will have to do. So please have patience and he'll fix it asap.

As far as I can tell, you ran out of credits. I checked and you have 4 credits now. I think that should be enough (perhaps you need a lil more) to have your site reactivated. A script runs every hour, so it should go automatically. As for the email, I don't know about the amount of space you've used so far, nor can I see that info. Only an admin can see that I believe. Sorry that I can't help you much more than this.

And I just remember WHY I can see Xisto sites within minutes after creation LOLSince my ISP's DNS servers hate Xisto, they won't let me see any Xisto or Xisto site, I decided (thanks to Nils) to leave their DNS servers for what they're worth and now my first DNS server setting points to the ISP and the second to one from Xisto I think The reason they have that index page there automatically is to prevent unauthorized people to see the actual contents of the folder. Without an index page, you just get a list of pages, graphics etc.

Xanga? ...
moonwitch1405241479 replied to l337 Nurse Pedestrian's topic in Websites and Web Designing
See, I have a xanga, somewhere deep down in the depths of hell http://aymelek.xanga.com/ In case you wonder about the name, I started on xanga because xanga was the prefered ShadowMud ring. Shadowmud is well an rpg mud LOL that I used to play for oh about 10hrs straight Since I've started here as mod, I hardly showed up there *cries* Anyhow, that's how and why I got a xanga. I don't really like it, although I used to browse through them just to feed my voyeuristic and curious nature LOL. For the record, I posted there a minute ago that they all can check my blog here -
How Often Do You Visit A Blog?
moonwitch1405241479 replied to rhodesian.dragon's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I've had LiveJournal, Xanga and Blogger... and now WordPress So I host my own blog (obviously here LOL). I try to post there daily, but some days I am too empty inside to even talk to a computer. Or something happened that I just don't wanna repeat ever. If I remember correctly my Xanga was/is http://aymelek.xanga.com/. I just went back to check there. It's a dark place very dark LOL with a huge potty mouth, so be warned I do swear -
The page I see is the page that is displayed on every account which holds no content. Meaning, I can't see YOUR page (index.html / index.htm / index.php made by you) but I can see the standard Xisto "newly created account"page. Have you uploaded your files to the correct folder? Did you replace the current index.html page (or if you are using htm as prefered extension - deleted the old one)? Ok, just because I can't explain what I am seeing that well (it is nearly 4AM here) I took a screenshot of your page (note the address bar )

Since this is something we may encounter while being hosted here I thought I'd touch the subject First of all this tutorial/how to is written for those who have purchased a domain name through a registrar Depending on how your registrar works, you should be able to log into your account and point the domain to Xisto's nameservers. Nameserver 1: ns1.astahost.com Nameserver 2: ns2.astahost.com Now that that's done, you're ready to change a few things in your Xisto cPanel. So log into your cPanel Then you go to Site Management -> Parked Domains Then you of course get the Parked Domain screen. Here you have to "add" the domain. Mind you when adding the domain, don't type the www. After you did this, it could take a lil while for the DNS servers to catch up (yeah, I think they're too slow LOL) and then you can use your new address If you also want to add subdomains, it's fairly simple as well. I do wonder how they did this without cPanel. Anyhow, since you're still in cPanel (click on home in the top right corner OR click "back" which is just below your newly added domain) you simply go to Site Management -> Subdomains. cPanel will display your_domain.astahost.com in the drop down box, but if you take a look in that wee box, you should see your new domain there Just select your domain and type whatever you want as subdomain. eg. You want blog.abcdef.com as subdomain. You select abcdef.com from the drop down box and then type blog in the text box. This will automatically create a directory with the name of your subdomain (eg. your subdomain is blog.abcdef.com then the directory will be blog) in your public_html folder So make sure that when you upload files there, you don't mix the folders up. I know that to some this will seem completely redundant, but I know I had to ask when I set my domain up. I didn't wanna mess things up, so I can imagine some others may have the same issues

Since a lot of the requests for website reviews get posted here, I figured I'd pin this topic. The correct forum to post about website reviews, lay-out reviews is here. Please do not post the requests for review here, we (moderators) move them anyway, so you'd spare us a lot of work While any issues, ideas, etc about design itself can be posted here, the review is done in a different subforum. ~MoonWitch

Google Toolbar do you use Google Toolbar?
moonwitch1405241479 replied to soleimanian's topic in Search Engines
Well, I figured I'd give the Google Toolbar a try I installed it on FireFox, it's not that bad. But I do think it slows my browsing down, or at least the amount of memory taken up by FF is what's causing the slowness. What I do LIKE about the toolbar, is the ability to highlight a full post and hit "search selected text" and then I can easily find copied posts A moderator's best friend LOL. So that is my only reason for keeping the toolbar. It makes my job a lil easier. -
I had recently uninstalled Delphi, since it was too much of a strain on my system. m^e then advised me to look for light weight Pascal Compilers. I followed his excellent advice and after some time browsing and searching, I stumbled across Lazarus. Needless to say I hit the download button, and much to my surprise it looked just like Delphi, perhaps a few alterations here and there, but overall it's identical. But then free, also there are versions available for Linux AND Windows AND Mac OS. All for free. I felt right at home in Lazarus, and it's only about 195MB, whereas Delphi was 330MB. If you don't really believe me, just check out the screenshots. I hope this isn't considered spam or advertising LOL, I am just sooo entousiastic about this and I wanted to share this

I get these so often that I just hit delete on whatever foreign language subject I encounter. It's basically just plain annoying. But I can understand some actually believing this. An older neighbour of me (he's about 67) is learning to use the net and a computer. I fully intend to "educate" him on crap like that. I mean, he's a really nice guy, used to help out a lot. When we had issues with plumbing etc When he moved (about 2 blocks away) he left us his goat and geese Anyhow, back to topic. I really wish there was something that could be done about this. But the sad thing is, I reported several spam/phissing attempts (usually for eBay and PayPal) but you never hear from it. Not even an automated email saying they received the message.

Mooter.com : New Search Engine! Mooter
moonwitch1405241479 replied to saxsux's topic in Search Engines
I personally am a pretty fan of google.com. But I also have to admit that the cluster search is nice. It makes a nice chance I will stick with google, but for some searches you don't know the correct keywords, in that case the cluster search may be handy. It's novelty... I will give it a try for a while and see how it goes. But as I said, google is my fave. Mainly because I've been using it for so long. Also Google.com offers a more broad service. But then again mooter is new. We'll see where it goes, but I'll certainly keep an eye on mooter. I think it has potential. -
I don't know if CS2 is worth it or not, I haven't tried CS LOL. I do intend to switch to CS when I get a new pc, mainly because I like some of it's newer features (compared to 7). What I do think of as nice is the image wrap, the new filebrowser and the font previewer. It would certainly save me a lot of time. What I do wonder about is CS2 will have/has a built in gif animator, wouldn't that go to Image Ready? But if it's faster then I am all for

At the moment I don't have Delphi on my system (I used 6, which we got in school). But to connect a Delphi program with a MySQL database to then generate dynamic pages in php.. seems a bit tricky for a beginner. I may have some experience, but I never connected to a MySQL database, we wrote things such as text editors, games, accountancy programs. (Drop dead boring!)I would think you'd be best off sticking to a webbased interface, and using php or perhaps JavaScript. That may make it way more simple to achieve what you want. Now as far as Delphi and PHP being similar, somewhat yes. JavaScript is closer to Delphi (from what I've seen in JS)What I recommend to use with great care is indentation! (really, after typing for ages and working with 10 others on a project on CVS you NEED to use that LOL).. Also for declarations, functions etc..function Button1.onClick (tObject)if Label1.Caption := 10 beep else showMessage("Blegh");Or something like that (I just typed this of the cuff, so I can be wrong. But use caps when you're handcoding. You will learn to love it (oh and uhm Classic or Twilight are good colour schemes)

Well, I play ShadowMUD, it's not that hard and very newbie friendly (I had no idea about muds when I first went there). The setting is a country far away, with classes such as Mages, Monks, Fighters, Rogues, Clerics. Most classes also have subclasses (especially the mages, you can be a necromancer, sorcerer, conjurer, Planeswalker or stay not subclassed). The races go from Dwarves, Elves, Faeries, Gnomes, Half-elves, Half-ogres, Half-orcs, Hobbits, Humans and Ogres. One of the former admins maintains a mud client designed for SHadowMud, which offers a graphical representation of how much damage you have, damage on your enemies etc. [https://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/] There's also a site with some maps and info (really usefull) which is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. I am a level 14 Mage there (Aymelek), I subclassed as conjuress, have finished 2 major quests and 7 mini's. Oh yeah, I forgot, you can also do major quests and mini's. Both are scattered over the world, you will need to complete one quest to go to High Mortal (lvl 20) and for legend (lvl 50) you need 75% exploration, 5 majors and 17 mini's I believe.

My System Specs It said you could brag about them....
moonwitch1405241479 replied to Jguy101's topic in Hardware Workshop
Mine's more museum stuff! LOLIBM Thinkpad 390E CPU : PII 333MHz HD : 12GB (IBM Dara) RAM : 256MB (maximum that's supported by my MB) Mind you, I can run Flash MX 2004 Pro, Dreamweaver MX, PhotoShop 7 (CS is too much), Illustrator 10,... The programs my baby has issues with is MediaPlayer, Yahoo! Messenger and sometimes MSN (when people message me there and the box pops up) But, I got this laptop for free, the only thing "broken" is the battery. It won't last longer then 15 to 20 min in windows. In linux it lasts me up to 3 hours. -
I just did a google search for Deskwizz and wow - you got a nasty critter on your machine. But it seems it's actually a program running on your computer in the background. I found this to be a nice link Spyware Guide What I can gather is that svrrun.exe is the program that runs the popups (mind you - I am only getting this from the net) (my source is tasklist.org) The following may NOT work LOL... I mean, not all spyware/adware shows up there, most doesn't. But it's worth a try Just right-click on an empty space on your taskbar (The grey bar down there ) and select Task Manager (I think Win XP has that ability as well - I use win 2k pro). Go to the Processes Tab and read through the list, see if you can find svrrun.exe. (NOTE : you'll see explorer.exe running, that's not IE but your windows desktop etc) If you see svrrun.exe, right click it and select End Process. That hopefully stops it for a while, it may be restarted instantly though But try that, and then go to My Computer - C Drive - Program Files - and look for a folder for DeskWizz (I think they'd use a folder with their name)

Accessing The Ftp Server Help Please
moonwitch1405241479 replied to busdriver630's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, I still use my original address I got before I got the domain name But what login did you use? for me it would be something like username@other-net.com and then my root password (which of course I am not supplying LOL). I don't know how your ftp client works, but I would assume it's the same as all the other ones out there. The address I connect to is indeed ftp.other-net.com (as I said - this is in MY case). Maybe you would be best off contacting your hosting company to see where the issue lies, because you're not hosted here and perhaps their system is different from here -
Best Browser? Which one do you like the best?
moonwitch1405241479 replied to Twistie's topic in Software
I use FireFox, even though I have checked Galeon here . In Windows, I have tested IE, Opera, Netscape (which I used for a long time), Mozilla (used that one for a while too) and FireFox (oh and Avant, which is just an IE shell). I found FireFox the most user friendly, however the looks of Mozilla, Netscape and Firefox are very similar, if you use one, you can easily switch to the others. Of all the browsers I've tried I hated IE the most, since I stopped using it, spyware, adaware, viruses and popups are very very limited In Linux, I've tried again Mozilla, Konqueror, Galeon, Netscape, Lynx and a few that slipped my mind. So I can honestly say I've tried many I have to say that I prefered Galeon and Lynx in Linux. Even over Netscape and Mozilla. I never used their built in email and irc client. I used Evolution (and I wish I could get it for windows too - I'd switch from ThunderBird to Evolution) and Xchat. For the record, this is about the 5th time I've typed in which browsers I use, why I use em and all that. Please learn to actually CHECK the forum for previous messages, this is getting as bad as the zillion of threads about which webdesign program (quoting the name LOL) people use. -
Wish To Place Astahost Logo
moonwitch1405241479 replied to nakulgupta's topic in Web Hosting Support
As far as I know, size restrictions don't apply on banners used on personal sites, I have one up from Xisto - Web Hosting, since it's OpaQue's paid hosting company. I also have text links to Xisto and should put one up for Xisto as well. For an Xisto banner, you can make it yourself or indeed use the "H" symbol. If you look in your cPanel, when you are hosted, below the menu on the left hand side, you will see a smaller graphic "Powered by Xisto" you could use that as well And of course you won't be sued for advertisement for Xisto The one thing we are not allowed to do is spam and use astahosts name, which is normal. -
Well, first I agree with most here, there is far too much white space in the banner. Also your name in the LCD screen is pretty blurry and there's colour loss which is probably due to your jpg settings. The use of brushes, aside from what every one else said, is ok, but they also are fairly blurry. Some shadow would be good, also you could use bevel and emboss to make the brushes more "aligned" with the LCD screen. And for a banner I feel this is too big.
