  1. Eh, I think it may have happened, but not on its own (as in, God caused it).
  2. Hey, 24's good! Yeah, probably couldn't kill a person from a heart attack, although if they were really close to it when it went off, they could probably get a huge dose of electromatic energy, which could cause cancer... I really want to find a way to secure my computers from EMPs....I know aluminum foil can stop RFID signals, but I dunno 'bout EMPs.
  3. Very nice! I already have Firefox, Thunderbird, GIMP, and 7-Zip. And, since my Norton update subscription expires really soon, I'm gonna download AVG.
  4. Ugh, phpBB....very insecure, not to mention it's been in feature lock for a while now. I recommend MyTopix. It's fast, easy to use...and free.
  5. Thank you! Well, I think I'm gonna go with MEPIS; a guy at the local health food store is gonna give me a CD sometime soon. W00t!
  6. Well, I'm going for Linux because I'm tired of XP Home, and I can escape many security problems (when was the last time a virus targeted Linux?). And, I am a programmer (C++ and Java), so I may do some programming on it....
  7. Heard about this a while ago in Popular Mechanics. It's a good idea, but I'd pass it up unless it was the only option for me.
  8. My PC, Bubba.... AMD Athlon64 at 1.8 gigahertz 80-gig hard drive 512 megs of RAM DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive 17" Proview monitor Windows XP Home ....And I also have a Mac, who I've named Maclena. Sadly, her display is fried..... 600 MHz Motorola PowerPC G3 40 GB hard drive 256 MB of RAM CD-ROM drive built-in 15" monitor Harmon-Kardon Odyssey speaker system (built-in) Mac OS X 10.2
  9. Sooo....would Linux accept a SmartLink modem? I have to box with me, just tell me where to find the product number.
  10. I got my Ubuntu CD's in the mail, so yes, I have the live boot disk too. But, as I said, the installer is just horrible. I don't think I'd really care for a piece of softwaree where the DEFAULT installation mode wipes your whole drive. That presents a lot of problems for people who have no idea what the isntaller's gonna be like (like me). Yes, I know I need to partition my drive to isntall Linux, but that can be done during installation. Well, OpenSuSE looks nice...I'm gonna see about possibly ordering install CDs or a DVD.
  11. Well, I really want to put Linux on my PC, and MEPIS looks nice, but I really need support for my modem. Also, I had a bad experience with the Ubuntu installer on my Mac...I accidentally wiped my drive. >_< Soooooo....anyone know of a Linux distro that has a nice installer and support for PCI dialup modems?
  12. Well, PC Club, where I got my PC, has laptops starting at $799....very nice.
  13. Dude, I heard about this years ago... It's neat, but it sure would cost a lotm at least for a while. Personally, I think I'll stick with a car and Zenith Aircraft's CH 701 kit, which is all-metal and can take off in 60 feet and land in 80 solo.
  14. Well, I like MyTopix from Jaia Interactive. The latest build was released in January, but that's because the developer has decided to jsut add a million features and fix every bug possible before releasing the next build. It's really nice, and doesn't have bloat like some forum systems.
  15. Fingers. Using your palm would be...weird.
  16. I find the Creative Labs Zen Micro interesting. For the same price as a 2-gig iPod Nano, you could get a 5-gig Zen Micro. And, it comes in a million colors.
  17. Here's my PC....who's name is Bubba. EnPower Nitro (from PC Club) AMD Athlon 64 1800+ (1.8 GHz, but it's a 64-bitter) 512 MB or RAM 80 GB hard drive DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive Floppy drive Windows XP Home SP2 17" Proview monitor (with a flat screen, though it's not a flat panel) Speakers Modem Stuff, but dunno what.... ...And my iMac, Maclena...who's display fried two weeks ago. 600 MHz Motorola PowerPC G3 (that's the equivalent of a 1.2 GHz Pentium 3) 256 MB of RAM 40 GB hard drive CD-ROM drive Mac OS X 10.2 15" built-in display Harmon-Kardon built-in speaker system Modem
  18. Well, when I set up my hosting account, I used a password that I figured I'd change. But now, CPanel won't let me. I keep on getting this error.. It gives me that no matter what password I give it. Anyone know what could be causing this?
  19. Ugh...I have it, but never use it. It's okay, but my sister was using it for school stuff, and everything she'd type up in it would look all messed up in Word on PC's at her school. >_<
  20. Well, I've been considering getting an iBook G4, but I could dish out only half the price for a Mac Mini, plus a monitor splitter cable, and a USB keyboard and mouse (which I already have, although I dunno if I could use them with my PC, 'cuase they're Apple-made)...
  21. Well, in my opinion, Intel chips really suck. I can see their reasons for switching, but they really should have gone with AMD, who have 64-bit chips that aren't just intended for servers like the Xeon....
  22. ...Dude, I dunno what made you think that XP is better than OS X, but seriously, it's better...let's see here: if you had a car, would you like it to crash twice a day? I wouldn't want the same quality in an OS.
  23. I really couldn't tell you about any ergonomic factors, although some may be more comfortable. Come to think of it, they may be good for an FPS, because you'd just be controlling the direction you're facing, not moving...for that, you'd want one of those instead of a regular mouse.
  24. Jcguy, I downloaded JustBlogIt!, and it's great! The only thing I don't like is that you can't use rich text formatting buttons and stuff with it...
  25. Well, I have a G3 iMac running 10.2, so why would I like to do stuff like that? Because just last week, my display fried. >_< Anyway, I'm not really concerned with getting programs that could look like a Mac, or adding a dock...I really just want an XP theme that'd make my PC look like a Mac, because I really don't wanna be stuck with the themes that come with XP.
