Mac Inacessiblity please destroy this rumor
Jguy101 replied to organicbmx's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yeah, they're on the expensive side. But they're much easier to use than a PC, and a PowerPC processor is the equivalent of an x86 at twice the chip speed. -
Mac Inacessiblity please destroy this rumor

I can't believe how dumb and ignorant M$ junkies can be. Not just stuff like this; upon the mere mention of a Mac, people will start saying stuff like the following: -
Yeah, I've read about the battle between the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD formats. Personally, I'm going with HD-DVD. Even though Blu-Ray will hold more, it would cost a heck of a lot, due to new production facilities. HD-DVDs could be produced alongside DVDs, with just some manufacturing equipment upgrades needed.

Whoa...I got the 60-day trial when I got my iMac, but didn't feel like paying $100 a year to keep it...but I'm gonna get it, because I don't like Google.

Eh, I had a Xanga blog, but I switched to Blogger...I really prefer it.

Hey, this is nice! Kinda like MIT's $100 laptop...except the MIT laptop would be free for the popel who got them, and it's really be only for kids. I'm reading the specs now, and that is not bad for the basic system! I mean, 1.6GHz, 40 gig hard drive, 128 megs of RAM...very nice.

Okies........well, if you really think the war is that bad, I suggest you read this.

Paper Thin Video Screen The morning news video?
Jguy101 replied to kaputnik's topic in Science and Technology
No, you porbably wouldn't need to plug it in either...recently, someone's developed ultra-thin, organic solar cells, which could be put on clothing to maybe power an iPod, so maybe they could go on a paper too. -
Rehearsed? Yes. Scripted on the soldiers' side? No. They were going over the questions, so they'd answer as best possible. As in, without mistakes. They came up with their answers, they just got pointers. Gee, ya think people voted for him because even though he may not be the best president we've had, he was a heck of a lot better than Kerry? Uh, how are conservatives complete idiotic fools?

Paper Thin Video Screen The morning news video?
Jguy101 replied to kaputnik's topic in Science and Technology
Heard about something kinda like this a while ago in Popular Mechanics...although the application was on a watch, and it was only black and white. It used magnetics to reverse these little balls. One side of them was white, the other black. And it was really thin. Not to mention that you get much higher definition than your average LCD watch. -
Yeah, I'm gonna steer clear of Ubuntu, at least for a while, because that installer just sucks. MEPIS, however, has a really nice and easy-to-use installer, or at least that's what I've seen from screenshots. Plus, someone going to give me a CD sometime soon, so I think I'll go with it instead of rodering or downloading another distro.

Found this article recently...very interesting. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Yeah, Gimp is great. I use it all the time, and I love it. I hear it's as powerful as Photoshop, and it has an advantage: it's free.

Secret Behind Your Nick/User Names Where did they come from?
Jguy101 replied to szupie's topic in Introductions
Well, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars ago, I was joining the online Lego club and lego.com, and couldn't think of anything better than Jman101. Well, since I was almost 8, I said I was eight. However, when I realized that after my birthday it thought I was 9, I kinda freaked out, and didn't know that I could change that by clicking "edit preferences".....so I created a new account, Jguy101, and have been using that name ever since. -
Lochness Monster Exists? Does it really?....
Jguy101 replied to Kid Saiyan's topic in Science and Technology
Well, Loch Ness probably isn't really that deep....also, there was one type of dinosaur that looks a heck of a lot like the pictures we see of Nessie and the like. So, maybe some survived... -
Well, at the moment it's just a concept, and it probably won't be available for at least a couple years. However, it may be available to researchers when it is in production.

Well, my guess is that some of the stuff on freebie sites is infested....
-
Thanks for the replies! hazeshow, that idea for "approved freeware" stamps is great, like how you see the Better Business Bureau logo on sites...the GPL guys should really do that. Ugh, the belief that nothin is really free...can't people accept that there really is a free lunch?
-
Well, I've been considering getting it or Trainz from Auranz...they look way kewl.

What CPC Can I Use If Im Using A Free Host? ...
Jguy101 replied to coconut_ddd's topic in Online Advertising
Yeah, you can have them with Xisto, although I dunno about Geocities. As for what ad program to go with, I recommend TargetPoint. -
.....NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to admit I didn't use Skype at all, but now it's being swallowed up by eBay... Shame, on you, Meg Whitman. Shame on you.
-
Xisto is pretty good, and has PHP and MySQL. Also, I don't recommend phpBB, as the phpBB site was hacked at least once not long ago because of holes in the software. >_< Personally, I recommend MyTopix from Jaia Interactive. It's fast, easy-to-use, has lotsa good features, and is free.

Heard about this a while back in Popular Mechanics. Well, I would only get one if it was the only option...right now, I'm setting my sights on a used IBM ThinkPad, which I could get for $350 to $400, with MEPIS installed.

Well, I was helping out at my neighbor's garage sale today, and we got into a conversation about Linux. Well, I explanined that there are paid distros like Red Hat and SuSE, and a bunch of free ones. Then, she said to watch out when ti comes to free software, because her computer took some major damage after she donwloaded some that was loaded with viruses and/or spyware. Let's face it: in the opinions those who aren't really the most computer-savvy, free software is almost never free of bad stuff like spyware. Another time, when I was helping set up computers at a rummage sale, I mentioned that I was starting a shareware outfit, and a guy who was also helping out said that he hated free software because it's loaded with spyware. I doubt he or my neighbor have ever used Firefox, GIMP, AVG Free, or any free Linux distro.... So, I'm wondering: what can be done to change the public's perception of freeware?
