Why The Speed Of This Website Is So Slow?
Darren1405241470 replied to bluewind's topic in Web Hosting Support
Maybe the reason it is so slow for you is the fact that you are using Internet Explorer. I suggest that anyone using IE should try Opera (my personal favourite which claims tyo be the fastest browser on earth ) or the very popular Mozilla Firefox. Both browsers are alot faster than IE ever will be. -
Which Control Panel You Are Using
Darren1405241470 replied to brouzine's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have only used Cpanel but I have heard that most of the othe control panels arn't worth the time of day which is the reason I haven't tried any of them. Upon thinking that through however I have decided that I should find some hosting with these panels and try them myself as I don't think that listening to what others say is really fair on them. -
I live in Wonthaggi which is a small town on the coast below Melbourne in Australia. I was born up in Coffs Harbour though and can't wait to get back bacause the weather stinks here and is great up there. Then again what do you expect from a town who's name is Aboriginal and means "wind and rain" .

Browser Test See if your browsers passes the test
Darren1405241470 replied to hashbang's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I haven't managed to find anything else that works yet . The new portion of script wich you've put on your website pauses in Opera. After it downloads the first 294 bytes (enough for it to load text saying all the tests to "flying crash test" have failed) it tries to look up host name http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and stops there. All the other tabs and the rest of the computer still work fine though so it only the tab that the webpage is in freezes. Nice try but it still don't completely crash. -

Protect Your Codes protection from illegal copying
Darren1405241470 replied to whafizi's topic in Programming
You've got a good point. I hadn't thought of people who were selling PHP programs. I doubt I will ever be imaginative enough to come up with a decent enough program to sell but I'm sure others would find it very useful. -
I would say that the best place for you to learn or get more info on PHP is the from the people who created it. Go to php.net and get their manual. It explains all you need to know about PHP and how to use it (including how it combines with MySQL database which alot of people ask about).

Protect Your Codes protection from illegal copying
Darren1405241470 replied to whafizi's topic in Programming
I didn't think that ther would be another language I just put that in incase. However I was just wondering if the company has brought out any other interesting and Open Source software which may be of use to me. I don't think i'll be using Zend Safegard Suite anyway because I'm not stupid enough to put anything that important on my web pages. -

I didn't know that. In that case I'm sure they're program is legit. I mean, it's not like they would need to steal other people's sites and passwords and stuff. If they wanted to they could make tonnes just off PHP. Anyway do you know if they have any other Open Source software/languages out? PHP is so good that I would try almost anything they bring out (unless of course it's something that I have absolutely no interest in). -
New Reputation Thing What do you all think?
Darren1405241470 replied to Darren1405241470's topic in Web Hosting Support
I don't think anyone has posted any. Perhaps one of the admins or Moderators should. Good point though, if no-one uses it it's completely pointless. -
I really like this new reputation thing. Once people have started to build up their reps a bit then it will be alot easier for newbies to recognise who says helpful things and who just says pointless things that nobody should take any notice of. What does everybody else think? Good/Bad/ok?
-
Maybe the point of this topic was for everyone to voice whether or not they think that Cpanel is the best panel for webhosting or whether there is a better one. Does anyone even know of any other decent ones. I know a couple but they are both hopeless.

Browser Test See if your browsers passes the test
Darren1405241470 replied to hashbang's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I found this site which has two very simple pieces of code, one that is supposed to crash Internet explorer and the other which is supposed to crash Mozilla. I don't know whether or not they actually work though, as they are both from some time in 2003. -

Darren1405241470 replied to whafizi's topic in Programming
I think that there are some companies that allow people to download these free scripts and stuff that code their passwords etc. However they add in a small piece of code that does somthing like sends all the passwords that it encrypts back to someone at the company allowing them to take over your website and any important info it may have in it like possibly credit card numbers or something. God knows why anyone would put that in a webpage but anyway. They could do that or they could just use your site to rip other people off in your name. -
No I have never used CashCrusader before as It was rather expensive when I last looked. I used this script I bought from myPTRsite.com (which has just recently gone offline I think as I can nolonger find their site) and I know someone who tried to use a site he got from site2u.us. I only made about $3.50 (australian dollars) a month but my friend made about $5 a month. It just wasn't worth either of us continuing the sites as we were losing money either from domains or web hosting. I got my script for about $30 and I don't know how much my friend paid for his site. I seriously doubt that any of these companies would let these people take enough of the companies profit from them to cover costs.
-
I agree that these scripts are hopeless and don't work well (yes I have actually tried them). I suggest you at least put your script on another host space with less features as using the hosting account here would be a serious waste of an opportunity. If you really must make money then I suggest that you create a decent site with this account and put some ads from an affiliate program on it. You would make more money out of this, not waste people's valuable time and be able to brag to all your friends that you have a real web site.

The Best Operating System
Darren1405241470 replied to whannagan's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I do still use Windows XP for it's easiness to use and my laziness to change to another OS. I did vote for Linux though because I know that it's a much more stable and secure OS than Windows will ever be. -
Search Engine Submission how to submit my site to search engine
Darren1405241470 replied to whafizi's topic in Search Engines
Sumbmitting your site to search engines is completely free in any search engine I have found so far. The only thing I can think of that you must pay to be listed on is google's adword. This is all fine and dandy if you can read french, which of course i can't. For those like me who can't read french you could use the google translated version here. -
Search Engine Submission how to submit my site to search engine
Darren1405241470 replied to whafizi's topic in Search Engines
1. I think most search engines have a link on them to submit your site. 2. Depending on which search engine you want to improve your ranking on some of the factors are: - how many links from other sites there are to yours - the keywords and description in your meta tags For a tutorial on promoting your site go here. It's the best tutorial for promoting your site I have seen so far. -
I really like google suggest but agree that it should be an option not just included in the only google. It's also quite interesting to see how many results it gives for different keywords. Google scholar is also a nice feature to have. As it's still a beta it is a bit buggy in that the results aren't that good yet but when it does work better it should help people find what their looking for quicker (which is of course what a search engine should do!).
