Swap And Page - Which Does Linux/windows Use?
manuleka replied to manuleka's topic in Websites and Web Designing
yea i find a lot of people use the terms interchangeably... but was wondering whats their real difference, and why Linux uses it - i thought swap was an older technology -
yea just tested it and it seem to load properly... although the network icon doesn't seem to recognize any connection though - weird
-
great application though if it ends up with a product utilizing such technology/capability and features... i wouldn't mind using palm of my hand as a touch screen... or my hand/arm - would be so cool (from todays perspective) -
-
sounds like a fun way to make/receive phone-calls lol... i remember years back i use to own a Nokia phone which came with a PC app, i use to plug it in to the PC and send texts through PC interface/program - so much quicker to text by typing on keyboard hehe

I notice that everytime i install a Linux Distro, there's usually a Swap partition need to be createdDoes Windows use swap partitions? or does it just rely on paging?I'm having to sit down and have a read through on some articles to clarify the differences between the two but i'm wondering what are you experts understanding of the two?Can Windows use Linux created Swap partition? Does Linux use paging as well? or does it only utilize Swap?

Version 4.0.4 IceCream sandwish reports no network connection but i can access the web though on the browser...
-
thanks yordan - that article is about 4 years old now hehe... i decided to just transfer to my USB Hard-Drive, then connect it to the VM and copy-paste it into it - waaaaay much faster than going through shared folder (network method) i just thought there could be a way of creating a virtual-direct connection/link between Guest and Host
-
Just wanting to see your thoughts on these two devices...I'm going to get one for an Xmas present, now eventually i will be using it from time to time, I am a Pacific Islander so i have big hands lol...This will be my first Android device and am looking forward to play around with it woo hooI am looking around online for reviews and videos on these two but just wanted to see what your thoughts arecheers

Ok so i'm running VirtualBox 4.2 on Kubuntu 12.10I wanna share files between my Host (Kubuntu) and my VMs (Windows XP, ElementOS, OpenSuse)File sizes being shared are from 1GB - 50GB in size... i know sharing using shared folders would be one option but this seems to be quite slowall VMs are connected to the Network using NAT (default)someone know a quicker way of transferring files between VMs or VM and Host?
-
mouse doesn't work for me on Virtualbox... I can't install VMware on Linux at the moment so can't really test it unless i boot into Windows
-
i need quite a bit of practice to get to 100...
-
a bit tricky though as i'm using Virtualbox on Kubuntu... just going through the .vbox file on kate seems to look different from the .vmx file for vmware....
-
ok will give a shot... thats an earlier version though
-
i think i can easily get up to 60 or 65 if i do a bit of practice... i can't believe yordan can do 240 per minute... that's crazy fast
