  1. Xerox had nothing to do with making GUI.... do you not even know what gui is? xerox GAVE (important keyword-- not stole) the COMPUTER (important keyword-- not gui) to apple. From there apple came up with gui, which ms stole from apple because all they had was DOS...
  2. Well I'd have to say Flash... Flash is pretty much the official program for making flash. I've seen some other ones but none come close. Flash CS3 pro will run you about $700. If you are still in school however this site has it for about $250. Creation Engine is a great educational site if you are in high school or collage. You need to send them a copy of your student ID card.
  3. Most HTML tags wont work in a flash dynamic text box. Basic text formating and images will work. Colors, and frames will not work in dynamic text boxes. Sorry! Also, images CANNOT be gif. I don't know why they haven't fixed this yet, but gif doesn't seem to be compatible with flash.Tables work but pretty much all the html has to be coded perfectly. <b><i>word</b></i> will leave the bold tag on. I'd recommend just redoing the entire site in flash. Flash is really powerful, and there is no real reason for doing it in flash if you are just going to have html control the site. :\It's up to you though. I never thought flash was too great at HTML parsing, but if you can make it work, more power to you!
  4. You have very interesting ideas, but the fact is that it doesn't just need to be heated to get rid of the salt. What heating does is separates the salt and the water, because the water starts to turn into a gas. The temperature needs to be above boiling. And then you need a tube coming out of the container of saltwater, going up, into another container which is cooled for the water vapors to turn back into water. Even if this was possible to be done in Iraq or some other hot place, you would get hardly any water out of it. Think about it... One barrel of water compared to trillions of people in the world. As for the solar panels, solar panels are cheep, but it wouldn't help really. Solar panels output electricity, and you would need allot of electricity to heat enough water to suffice just one city, yet alone a state, or a country. I liked reading your ideas, but I don't think they would work. Keep up the ideas though.
  5. Yeah, I've seen that, thats hilarious... Ok get this strait, google didn't do that. Many people googlebombed it so it would become the first result. And if you don't know what googlebombing is, read this. I don't feel like explaining it. When people stopped caring enough too googlebomb it, it slowly went down in the ranks. Yeah, same here. Only newyork to france seems to do it.
  6. I agree with Dave, Microsoft id the most evil, but my reasons are slightly different:1) They are responsible for the worst operating systems known to man2) They stole GUI from Apple3) They deserve a lifetime in HELL!
  7. This is a wonderful tutorial! I see many threads of people trying to figure out how to connect to FTP or how to do something in the cpanel. If I see another person asking a question on this topic, I'll direct him to this thread.
  8. It really doesn't depend on the TV itself as zach mentioned. The tuner, which is a device that signals in all the information coming through an antenna and focuses in on whatever channel it is set to. Most T.V.s have tuners already built in for your connivance, but the tube itself has nothing to do with it. When the tuner gets the data from the air waves, and there is no information on that particular wave or channel, it can't really show anything. Static is basically a mixture of your tuner attempting to receive a signal that isn't there, and some bleed through of other channels. For example if you turn to a channel with static, there's slight bleed-through from the information of the other channels being picked up from the other channels.
  9. I'd have to agree with Misanthrope. Even guys prefer it if you play hard to get. If a girl started hitting on me, that would just be kind of a turn off... I'd much rather prefer asking a girl out than she asking me out...
  10. Even though it is true that there is a possibility of your IP repeating, the chances are very rare unless you disconnect every day. Most ISP's share a range of IP's for all of their users. When you disconnect and reconnect (if you have a dynamic IP), and you release your IP, that puts it back in the list of available IP addresses. Even though this list is limited, it is HUGE. It needs to be big enough to accommodate all of their customers. Even though I have a dynamic IP, I hardly ever disconnect, so I doubt that will apply to me, but who knows?
  11. I never really understood the PDF password protection. I mean the data is all there, and not encrypted or anything, it just is an annoying little obstacle I have to pass when I need to copy something from one that doesn't let you copy. This was most annoying when my AP computer science class was learning the marine biology case simulation, and all the questions were online in a pdf. But instead of letting us copy the questions over to save us 15 minutes, no we had to type them over. I guess college board is way too worried of somebody stealing their precious Marine Bio CS code.... I mean seriously, that was the stupidest project I've ever done. Anybody who wants to ever use that code for anything must be out of their minds...
  12. I like saint Michael's idea, of putting your name and then designs or something, but I've always been a fan of "creations" or "productions" or "studios". Try one of those after your name, in my opinion they sound more professional.
  13. Well i think weather or not you take legal action strictly depends on how close you were to this person. If you were his friend, I wouldn't, because me and my friends sabotage each other all the time. If this was somebody who was seeking revenge or somebody who just didn't like you, I'd say go ahead. He had no reason to hack your site.
  14. I'd have to agree with AD. Even though the corporation has a tight leash on their stores, most of the stores are still privately owned. They just pay taco bell a big portion of their profits for the recipes, and pretty much the name.
  15. I'm lovin' your avatar!

WHAT WOULD THE FLYING SPAGHETTI MOSTER DO??

  16. Noooo!!! I saw this under the free web-hosting application form, and I assumed that you didn't need hosting first! I have 240 creds and if i get hosting they will all be reset!!!!! I wish there was a cry emotion to express my feelings of this....Anyway it sounds good, i just wish that getting hosting wouldn't reset my credits, or I didn't need hosting first :)
  17. Yes as you said it wasn't a big deal i was just wondering what exactly was going on, or if there's a setting i missed somewhere. Thanks though.
  18. Agree'd. I mean seriously, who plays a boring game like that enough to bother with the story in the first place? omg nerd lol wtf. Your just mentioning one of the Zelda's of the apparently many according to Bryan(Red Alert)... I found this funny even before i read his next post: lol so true. This happens all the time in threads that are like 6 pages long. Not even the admins care anymore for those threads. People even just spam spam spam away and nobody even looks at their post. I've seen it in almost every long thread. ROFL!!!!!! I laughed so hard when i read this post after reading bryan's post above it xD
  19. Could it be that i found a bug? Go to my profile and look at the sidebar where my friends show up. I just recently became friends with hotchick, but she isn't in the list. You only see her when you click on the friends tab. Is there a reason for this? But this isn't the main thing. When i was trying to figure out what happened i clicked on her profile, i'm listed under her friends, but it dosn't say my posts. It says Now this i thought was very strange because everybody else has their post count and activity listed, and as i was looking at the list, i noticed more people with no post count or last active information. Misanthrope was one, and jlhaslip was another, but i just checked back and jlhaslip has it now. So what the hell is going on with the friends lists? If you look at red alert, another one of my friend's profile, you will see that my post number and last active show up. I guess none of this is too big of a deal, i just found it all very very strange, and I can't possibly think that this is a feature...
  20. Yes, well my AIM is in my profile and my msn uses my primary email so i'll pm you with that if you want.
  21. If you're using SQL to store the posts, there is a much easier way. The field you are using to hold the ID of the post, just make that an index, and set auto-increment. This way, sql will do all that work for you. Are you programing your own forums? If you are, PM me and i could give you some guidance on how the best way is to lay out all the tables, and how to have them work. Also, if you don't have an ID field, or i misunderstood you somehow, you could always get the total number of posts by mysql_numrows($result);where the variable result is the query of the table you are working with. I hope this helps, if not just reply here and i'll try to come up with a better answer. If you have any code already written that would be a help too.
  22. Well I have a clear conscience. Even though I'm not an atheist, I'd never start a war over my religion. No offense God , but I really wouldn't care enough about my religion to fight somebody over it. I'm quite lazy and if somebody had a different idea than me, I'd just accept it and move on...
  23. lol corn. It's still a fun game for those who are too lazy to go out and buy guitar hero. And you don't even need a console, just a computer! Ok bad example, computers cost more than console's i know, but still, everybody here obviously has a computer, unless your one of those weirdo's who gets the internet of their phone...
  24. Thanks for the comment. Most pc users don't really understand this because windows is still designed a lot like mac os 9 was. There was a roomer that longhorn was supposed to be unix based, which probably meant that they were going to switch over to this format, but I'm not exactly sure what happened to it. I'm guessing most linux users can relate to this seeing as they have a home folder, but it isn't exactly structured the same way.Anyway, thanks for the complement!
  25. For those of you, like me, who don't have Guitar Hero 2, and would like it, there's a free game for your computer thats very similar. It's called Frets on Fire. It's quite fun. You hold the keyboard like this: The enter key is strum, and F1-F6 are the different frets. It's loads of fun!
