Woah that killer puzzle sounds impossible To think, I have problems just solving the regular sudoku puzzles.. How are you ever supposed to figure one of those out? I found a website with some of them on it, i can't figure it out

I think a big problem with replying to old or popular topics is that they usually have many pages, and the members on Xisto are very lazy. They rarely read any of the messages if there are more than one page, and they know that nobody will read their message except for the admins, so they think that they can get away with spam just by posting on a very popular or old thread.

This thread really fills up fast, I guess people want those credits, just this morning I posted and look It's already been about a page of posting between this one and that. Anyway I guess I'll write something a bit more in depth here in this post than I did in last post. I'll skip past all of the "happy birthday Xisto" stuff and guess I'll introduce my story on how I got to finding Xisto with the world! I was first looking for a php host to work and learn php and sql. I found a ton and all of them were terrible. Ads all over the place and hardly any space or bandwidth. Then my friend told me about this site he found. Now whoever is reading this, but I doubt anybody will be because my posts are so boring and long, and i could probably just spam here and nobody would even notice and just, keep this run-on sentence going forever and ever and-ever, but I wont. Anyway as I was saying if somebody actually is reading this I suppose they'd expect me to say my friend showed me Xisto, and yay i found it story over... no. Not really, I shall surprise you all! It was NOT Xisto. It was a pretty decent hosting company called host helpers. It was actually more than decent, and in fact I would even still be there if it didn't close down. It offered free no banner ads, hosting, 500 mb space and 15 gigs bandwidth. All you had to do was join one of those pay per search things and type in a certain referrer and make 5 searches when registering. Damn was that a cool site, but as all of you know none of those pay per search things were around long, and when they closed down hosthelpers kind of lost all of its money and when the server crashed, they took everything down. I spent the next two years of my life looking for a decent host. For a while I used a terrible host I think it was called 555mb.com or something. It offered a terrible cpanel (only file manager, ftp and phpmyadmin), google text ads on every page, and only 120 megs of space. Strange that they would call it 555mb.com if it only offfered 120 megs of space. Anyway after that I wasn't even looking for a host, I was just looking around for something to do and i was joining some forums here and there, and I ran into Xisto. Yes I wasn't even looking for hosting when I found it. I immediately canceled my hosting with 555mb and transfered my website over to Xisto, and then on to Xisto - Web Hosting.Wow that was quite the story! I have enjoyed my stay here at trap 17 and hope to enjoy many more days!

Wikipedia + Myspace = ... An idea for an interesting site
galexcd replied to BooZker's topic in Science and Technology
I like the idea but I would be afraid to put all of that stuff in a database :\... Not that I'm affraid of stalkers or anything it's just like jesus christ would I get a ton of personalized spam in my inbox. I'd prefer not. -
Yes finally I think more websites will check with safari now that is available for windows, but it's engine is extremely similar to firefox so it compiles the HML almost exactly alike. I've always liked the look of safari and some of the extra little features it provides such as an input box type search. It rounds off the corners and adds a little magnifying glass just as you would see in itunes!. Just <input type="search"> instead of text. All other browsers render it as a normal text box but give safari users a nice little bonus. If you add autosave='somename' to the tag, where somename is the file you want it to read and save previous searches from, clicking on the magnifying glass will give you a list of the most recent submissions from that text box. You can define how many searches you want showing up with the result attribute. All together would look something like this <input placeholder='Search' autosave='Xisto' results=10 type=search> But I just added that on a side note. I thought it was pretty neat when I saw it! Anyway safari has always been my favorite browser on my mac because the creators of firefox didn't care enough to make it work properly on the mac. Most things that deal with transparencies and tables break on the mac version of firefox. It will be interesting to see safari competing against the windows version of firefox, which doesn't have these problems.

I was unaware of that, but the website keeps track of how many credits I have yet to give away so I wont delete the records until I am able to send it all. I really don't have that many credits to give away and I will only post challenges when I do have enough. As I said earlier this is an encouragment for me to keep more active in these forums

I'd have to agree with you on the part you said that its important to get a good job, but thats just society telling us that. Most of the things we learn aren't ever going to be used again. I just graduated from high school so I feel a lot better with that behind me, but I still didn't like it. When we go to whatever careers we go to we aren't going to need to memorize everything and be tested on it. Even doctors have their medical books that they consult before an operation. School is just a place where they cram as much knowledge as they can in us and hope that at least 30% of it stuck.

Besides Email Notification, What Does PayPal Offer?
galexcd replied to galexcd's topic in Websites and Web Designing
That wouldn't seem very secure. I was talking about a private page that paypal could load so that if they were to buy something it would change something on the database instead of having to do it manually. If it just redirected the customer, if somebody were to find out about this, they could just load this page after making a cart and get free stuff. Do other websites who use paypal just do everything manually? -
Hey everybody this is my second tutorial! Hooray! My first one kinda failed I think seeing as only one person replied, but whatever. This tutorial is for anybody who is interested in learning how to edit with final cut pro. This doesn't perfect your editing skills or anything, it will just tell you the basics on how to get started. When I started with final cut I had no tutorial and nobody to help me and I was LOST! But that was about 5 years ago. Anyway lets begin. When you first open up final cut you may feel a little intimidated from all of the windows that come up. I will go over each one now. The Browser The Viewer The Canvas The Timeline and The tools and Audio Meter The browser is like a storage bin for all of your video clips. It helps you to organize all of your video so you can drag it down to the timeline whenever you need it. The viewer lets you view certain clips and tweak them or change them. It is usually used for changing filters which will not be discussed in this tutorial. To put a video clip into the viewer just double click on it.The canvas displays whatever your playhead is over in the timeline. This is where you would watch your movie when you play it.The timeline is everything. This is where you drag all of your clips to and edit them in. It has multiple layers that work very similar to photoshop. The tools will be individually discussed later in the tutorial. The primary one is the selection tool which is the top one. (the mouse). The audio meter shows you the final left and right channel and what the current db is of the frame the playhead is on. I'll start by dragging some video clips to the browser. And it will appear in the browser. To put it on the timeline, I can just drag it on, but I don't want the whole thing so I'm going to double click on it and it appears in the viewer. Then I set mark in and mark out points (with either i and o or / and *). There are also buttons to do this on the viewer itself. Once i set the points the mini timeline on the viewer looks like this: From there I just drag the image from the viewer onto the timeline. As I start dragging more video and audio clips onto the timeline the project begins to become more complex. Before we go on I'd like to point out two buttons in the top right of the timeline. The left button connects video and audio together so if you had a video clip with audio, and you dragged it onto the timeline, it would select and move them together on the timeline, otherwise they would be separate. The right button turns on snapping. In Final cut pro versions 3 and below, they were on top of each other, where the top one was snapping and the bottom one was connecting clips. In the tools window there is the razor blade tool. This tool cuts clips so you can manipulate certain parts separately. Under this tool is a razor all tool which cuts all video and audio layers at the same place. Most of the tools above the razor blade are just there to save time and can be done other ways. The selection tool selects anything that is in the direction the arrow is pointing from the mouse in the track the mouse is in. When clicking and holding on the tool you have more arrows. If you hold down shift while selecting it will select all tracks. The Sliding tools let you move through video without changing the clip. The way final cut pro works is it never changes or deletes any part of the video. Anything you cut out will still exist on your harddrive, and therefore, if you want to move the begining and end of a clip over to one direction use this tool and click and drag in the direction you want to drag it. At the very bottom of the tool list is the pen tool. This tool allows you to draw lines to set the transparency of a clip. To use it, first go to the bottom left of the timeline where you should see these two buttons: I'll discuss the purpose of the left one in a moment. Click on the button on the right and lines will appear on all of the video and audio clips. The pen tool will let you put anchor points on these lines so you can change the transparency of a clip over time. In audio clips this will change the volume. As you can see I dragged the video clip up onto a new layer. If you are familiar with photoshop, final cut pro works the same. Whatever is transparent on the top layer the bottom layer will show through. As you can see the clip I have becoming less transparent, is on top of the other clips, so it would appear as a fade in. The final thing I will talk about in this tutorial is animation of clips. First click on the right button in the lower left corner of the timeline, and all of the tracks will have spaces between them. To animate moving move the clip how you want to first and then add a keyframe by pressing the keyframe button, which can be found in either the viewer or the canvas. If you are unable to manipulate the clip go under the menu located on the top right of either the canvas or the viewer and select either image & wireframe, or just wireframe. After you add the keyframe a blue dot should appear where your playhead is. Then move your playhead where you want the animation to end and change the image again.

Happy birthday trap 17! I've been a member for a while. Way older than most with my pathetic post count, but that was because I was inactive for a long time after I switched hosts to Xisto - Web Hosting. 3 Years DOES seem like a long time! Hopefully by next birthday's time I'll be more popular in these forums and I'll be more active!

I've never worked with pay pal before and I was going to open an online store. Being the php freak that I am, I coded my own shopping cart so that isn't really an issue. I was just wondering how my website would know when somebody has payed or not? Can I have paypal load a php page or is it only through email? Pretty much any information about pay pal would be nice. Thanks!

I put no writing because i cant stand reading and writing, but Tramposch just reminded me of instant messaging, texting and forums, so I don't know now... I guess it would come down to, would not being able to read and write include programing? or just a real language?

I think a better way to do it is when one word has hit about 50% transparency, start fading in the next word, and then leave the sentence up longer before taking it off. This will create a much better effect to the viewer in my opinion.

I think it looks great bit its a bit slow... I mean every... single... word... comes... up.... about... once... a... second... and... it's... very... tedious... waiting... for... the... next... word... to... actually... show... up........... Other than that I loved it. The background is Awesome! But while we're on the topic of making gif images, do you guys like the gif that took me an hour to make: CONSOLE Its in my sig too. Edit: took of my sig on this post, made it look a bit weird with 2 consoles doing the same thing......

Re-do Of My Site! Please Review :) projectjim.co.uk
galexcd replied to Jimmy's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Its very classy. I really enjoyed the nav bar on the right... BUT... I almost closed your website because I thought the domain was sold or something. It looks EXACTLY like a parked domain. If your not sure what i mean, just by typing in random words and missspelled websites i found alot that look similar to your site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.nytime.com/ http://appple.com/ I can't really find ones that have the same color scheme and exact layout as your website but i've seen them... It dosn't mean that you should redo the layout or anything. I found it quite enjoyable, i just wanted to let you know :\ -
I wasn't really thinking of making it that big maybe just have like a challenge a week with the prize about 10 creds and the first one to PM me the answer wins. As for the donations, I really don't need donations for this, its basically something to help me get myself off my lazy *bottom* and do some posting here at Xisto! :)I haven't done too much with the site recently seeing as I'm very busy, but I'm graduating next saturday, and ill put up the first challenge this summer! The website is up and running and the first challenge is up! Anybody who wants a quick 5 credits can pm me the answer!

Oh no! You should really get a computer in your dorm, or wherever you are living :\ Relying on a computer lab is never a good idea

I used to use imageshack.us all the time, until they deleted my avatar on some other forum, and sig images on this forum. I guess they were taking up too much bandwidth or something. It was really annoying. Ever since then I've used Imagefilez.com, because i always see the ad for it on this site. So far, no problems!

Ok, I used to not be hosted, and just post on this forum for fun, but i was watching my credits go to waste, so i decided to get hosting, and give away all of my credits to members who really need it. Now I don't just give them away for nothing, because that would just be boring. I'm going to make a series of challenges that members of the Xisto forum can participate in, and winners get free credits. As of now, my website is thus: creds.trap17.com. I know it needs a bit of work, but I did it quickly. Anyway, I posted here to get the members opinions on this! The challenges will be posted on the website, and when the website is done, I will put a link in my sig so that everybody has a chance to win credits. I'm not really sure what kind of challenges I'm going to make yet, I was thinking trivia and stuff, but if you have a better idea, post it here!

Changing The Windows Xp Splash Screen another quick tutorial
galexcd replied to seargentpepper7's topic in Operating Systems
This is why i love mac. All the files, images and everything the computer needs to run is found in the system folder if you know where too look. No hidden files, no crazy partitions and stuff to look for. You can change out the splash screen on a mac just by switching out an image with one you made yourself.
