Video Games Are A Complete Waste Of Time, Face It!

Recommended Posts

Computer games are just another way of relieving stress and having fun with mates. Now you have the ability of services such as xbob live it is a way of communicating with those overseas, socialising with mates over a game etc. When you also play at a competitive level either for a clan or more seriously in international competitions it can also become a lifestyle and a way of earning a living.

C'mon face it, video games are a complete waste of your time! Every time you turn on your console you should be asking yourself "Is there something better I should be doing with my time... like reading a good book... or watching a good movie... or flirting with a beautiful girl? Do I get anything out of this, does this make me a better person?"

Well, since video games can do at least as much as any movie or TV program can, I'd say if you're going to make the point that video games are a complete waste of time, that you have to make the point of all TV in general, including movies and public television. People can learn stuff from video games and they can be instructive, but is the good outweighed by the bad?

I'm not trying to make a case either way, I'm just pointing out video games should be lumped together with movies and TV as well, and most people don't like to see it that way. That's why I don't see why you said "or watching a good movie". What's the difference between video games and movies?

I used to be a huge gamer myself until I did realize how much of my time they were taking. I believe that games are there for enjoyment and not overuse. Its great to take some time off of work and reunite with the ones you love and have fun through games but people who are just addicted to game playing all day is totally unecessary and a waste of your life!

Sony is horrible, don't use them as an example. Video Games actually help more than they hurt if used responsibly. They develop critical thinking, problem solving skills, hand-eye coordination.

More than that, think of what they do for the creators. Video Games are a great way for alot of people to express themselves, influence people, excercise their creativity. It creates jobs, and they create dreams. Think of how many people aspire to become game developers!

Think Harder

Video Games Are A Complete Waste Of Time, Face It!

Well there is really no difference between watching a movie and playing video games, considering they do the same to your brain, except video games stimulate the mind, where movies are more of an entertainment view on a bored mind.

Where playing video games you learn how to problem solve.

Besides just because you don't like video games obviously means your wasting time, where I think if I read a book I'm wasting my time, same goes with movies. And what can you do if you have a girlfriend? obviously you cant flirt with a "Gorgeous Girl" unless your a complete ****.

So I haven't faced any "Fact" video games are a waste, its just your opinion on a subject that isn't right until you get better supporting evidence.

Replying to rovertosOk, Video Games were invented by the Government as a way to keep poor people poor. Video Games came up right after the Government invented Drugs and they realized that people who are high would need something to do once they sobered up. The Government has to keep a POOR class in society so there will be people to work at Mc Donalds and Wal-Mart. If everyone was productive the America would not work, the rich could not profit from poor labor, etc. Thus Video Games keep Poor people from becoming educated and getting better jobs with better pay or God FORBID the Poor might gang up against the rich and revolt. Don't want that, keep em all High on drugs!! -reply by Mr Smith777

They are not a waste of time! I think a video game can:-Improve spelling and grammer, that is if the game has good spelling and grammer, and lots of text.-Improve coordination, think of all the things you do, especially with Wii, but even others. -Make you smarter, depending on the game.-Keep you busy *<_<*-Keep your hands in good shape (ok I'm pushing it here....)But even read some of the news articles that go around on TV, about video games actually being good for you.Now for what you said: Yes, as was said, movies and TV are the SAME thing, but video games would actually be better because your at least slightly moving. Reading and video games can go hand in hand- each offers text to read USUALLY of some sort, even though books would outweigh video games in that category, of course. Flirting with a girl. Ohh boy.... Ok, it depends on if you have any plans for the future :(

It's very hard to leave video games especially I'm a teen, well, for me video games is a waste of time but, they give me entertainment and my mind is working solving how can I solve the missions. My mom and my grandma always scold me because of video games, they are telling me... My son, video games is just a waste of time. At first I didnt like it. But I've realized that they are true. I'm now experiencing some problems with my friends because I'm not joining them if there is an occasion. I realized that I should not waste my time playing video games because time is running, there are more things to do than playing. Why dont entertain people? Entertain them, if you did that, both of you will be Entertained, Talk and explore things with you friends, serve the church, do your homeworks, do your job, clean your house, and more! There are more things to do than just playing huh,,,,

Hey man just because you don't like video games don't mean you have to come on here and say that. You must play sports right?? well in a way video games are like sports ok you could watch a movie, read a good book. flirt with a beautiful girl but yet some one still play sports and or video games. Why don't you go read a book, watch a movie or flirt with a girl and how about not posting this because people like video games. "Is there something better for you to do right now?". Video games is like crack to me, and i do play sports (with friends no school). Just a form of entertainment. Edited by goldtupac (see edit history)

Ok, so what does that make TV?

Pretty much worthless. I never watch TV unless there isn't a computer around where I can surf the web. all the videos I want, I can get them off the 'Net. I don't play video games; just flash games.

Video games aren't a complete waste of time. Nothign is. It's just more wasteful than, say, posting here on the forums. Now, TV, that's a different story. Sure, you gather information, but you don't give any out, which is meaningless. At least in video games, you can have a little interaction. Nothing is a complete waste of time.

So you're saying information can't be gathered from Video games? Back when I gamed on consoles there was a lot of reading involved. I was already a skilled reader to begin with, but playing RPGs back in the day really helped out one of my friends.

People just need to face the fact that 89% of the activities in our society are worthless. But then again, worth is based on an individual basis. So whatever, the OP has his opinion and I have mine.

Moving on.
