Megaupload Reduced Their Download Limit Again! [resolved]

Recommended Posts

Heh, and I remember how I also put up a Megaupload rant here too... They already reduced their service for other countries by giving them meager 100 slots (which are seemingly always full). Now they do this!? Hold on... if they don't want to serve by putting up all these restrictions, then they shouldn't have put up their free service at all! I'd rather see one starting out with small things then getting bigger than this. If they're personally bothered about the expenses their free service is giving them, why don't they just quit altogether? It pretty much annoys me that they screen IPs and don't let other countries besides US, UK, Canada, etc. download without any slot limits. To think I used it a lot before... they're slowly withdrawing their grasp.

100 slots. I wouldnt bother providing the service if thats the case, and many would'nt bother trying if a very limited amount of slots for whats normally a popular service is available.

That pretty much sucks for the users of MegaUpload.. I have a rapidshare premium account myself, it works fast and very well. I would suggest anyone who often downloads a lot of files to get a premium account, it skips all the hassle. A Xisto.com upload service would be great, but admins should only give members who have a lot of hosting credits access to it, maybe deduct hosting credits for every MB downloaded or something.

Mmmm... today I uploaded a file to rapidshare.de and only after having uploaded it, they told me that I must register (for free) if I wanted the link. At first I was a little angry because I thought that my file was going to be lost but I registered and it was there. Anyway I think that is not fair. I mean, it?s your server do what you want, make it free, with registration or paying, but don?t let me think that I can upload a file and then force me to register if I want to get the link, because you?re making me lose my time. Sorry, I know that is not Megaupload but I think it is a enough related thing to put here.

Yeh, well I think that instead of having 1 credit for every 1mb downloaded, it shud be like... the amount of bandwidth used divided by 10 and then, that amount of credits are taeknn away, but then again, if its a file that will be downloaded alot, you shud be able to upload, and it then sends a request to have extra/unmetered bandwidth allowed for that specific download... only if accepted

You knew that they would have to reduce it when theres became more people using it. Bandwidth is usually given to the paid users but at least Xisto lets you have a bunch of it. They should have at least e-mailed yu or somehow notified you of the new policies before then though. it just shows that the company isn't being very responsible......

Is it just me or did Megaupload decrease their download limit again? A few days ago I was able to download about 5 or so files off it until it tells me my download limit has been exceeded. Then today, after downloading 2 files, it said my download limit has been exceeded. And I know that I haven't downloaded more than I did a few days ago because all these files were approximately the same size.:/

The idea of Xisto being a file hosting service would be horrible. Think about it, Xisto sometimes has DDOS attacks, or mass emailers that down the server and just mysql. If people were hosting there files on our service the server would be considerable slower. And since members already complain about how sometimes there server goes down, it'd make things much much more difficult. Also people would be hosting illegal files, warez, and porn on Xisto, and that's a big "no-no". It'd be quite difficult to keep track of all that.

Wow that sucks not only did they reduce mb, they reduced half the limit size.... but I'm glad filelodge.com hasn't reduced the file limit. It's always been 500mb, I recommend filelodge if you need a file host. But filelodge is down at times, I use fileden.com also too. Its the same as filelodge, 500mb file limit.

I don't like Mega Upload , they reduce their download limil very often and one more thing , I tried to download a lot of time but they always said that all 100 slot in my country were used so I really hate them. Why Mega Upload since there is a good site named Rapid Share ? Rapid Share is better than Mega Upload a lot.

well, it is bad that the way these file sharing services are reducing the download limit. Rapidshare has also reduced the limit and asks people to wait after they download one or two files. It is getting worse everyday but the fact remains the same that they are giving us free services only to attrack people for their premium services and for that they'll apply these kind of restrictions. However, they can take other steps apart from these restrictions and allow people to donwload stuff. Atleast they must mention it somewhere on their websites, like angel has mentioned about filelodge and fileden..where they say that the limit of download is 500 mb

Many companies are doing exactly what you've mentioned about megaupload. Whether file uploading or webhosting or anything which is free service. Once they get enough visitors or users on their own, they started downgrading their quality service simply because they have already got what they want and they don't care about those who seek stuffs and services free from them.

I think that all these file hosting servers like rapidshare.de and megaupload are encouraging illegal downloads of porn videos as well as movies. Many a times I have seen people downloading songs and such things. However if I were to use a file hosting service (I hardly use it though), rapidshare.de and megaupload doesn't work for me. Both of them are not very quick in terms of the download speed. Rapidshare.de for some reason does not allow me to download the files i want for some reason. They give me an error that I am already downloading something, the most funniest thing is that the ip they mentioned is downloading something does not belong to me but rather to the desktop. That is the reason why I do not like rapidshare.deAs for megaupload, it is way too slow if you are downloading anything. The maximum speed as I can remember with megaupload did not hit past 7 kb/sec. Imagine downloading something as much as 200 mb? It would take ages for it to be completed. If I were to recommend a file hosting service, you can try sendspace.com or ultimateuploads.com, both of which I find it pretty good to use especially if you are downloading something big.

in my opinion, the limits should be going up. internet connection is getting so much faster every year it seems. my friend has a connection speed of 24mbps. this is so much!!! these sites should just get a better connection which doesnt cost as much now as it did a couple of years ago and let people upload alot more. that is just my opinion but you can dissagree with me.
