What Country To Do You Live In, And Rate It.

Recommended Posts

I live in Malaysia. Life before year 2003 were really great because of our great Prime Minister Mahathir. But as soon he steps down, the country when chaos within a year. Our current PM, Abdullah Badawi, is no other than a blind man. He has no vision for the country, and yet implementing stupid government policies favouring and spoon-feeding the Malays (origins of Malaysia). Unity in Malaysia are getting more fragile. Now and then, arguments between the Malays and non-Malays(a.k.a Chinese and Indians) are becoming more and more common. Unfortunately, our blind PM isn't doing a good job solving the racial issue. Worse yet, every single Ministers in the Cabinet are following his examples. During the government general assembly, Malay politicians raised the issue of Malays unable to get involve in big firms of mega projects because the chinese snatch the opportunity from them, which lead to Malay race with the highest poverty. This is simply not true. The first fact, the Indians are the one who has the highest poverty percentage and requires help from the people. Second fact, the chinese did not snatch the opportunity of getting big firms from the Malays, it's simply most of them seem uncapable and unreliable to be involve. The current economy statistics shows 60% of Malaysia's economy are controlled by the chinese, despite the Malays getting the big helps from the government in job opportunities. There goes the previous PM, Mahathir's vision. He spent 2 decades developing and modernising our country. Our current blind PM has freezed and cancelled almost every mega projects which predicted to have bring a total of RM400bil investment. One of the example is that he cancelled a bridge connecting to Singapore, which cost RM740 million to build and a fine of RM1 billion if cancelled. Without thinking, our blind PM was willing to pay RM1 billion to cancel that damn bridge. Thank God that i'll be furthering my studies in the UK and hopefully to find a job there. In Malaysia, it's hard for a non-Malays to find a job, because job vacancies are preserved for the Malays, with the aids from the government. An ex-patriot like me will say let Malaysia rot and sink until a capable person like Mahathir leads the country. My current rating for Malaysia: 3/10

Australia.Probably have to rate it 7.5 out of 10.Living standards are pretty good, laid back, a bit spread out (ie most houses have backyards), easy going, even the capital cities (ie Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne) are fairly livable. As for the CONs, probably have to say the recent Cronulla Beach situation in regard to the middle east has tainted things a bit, although both parties involved are just as guilty, and probably the on-going politics.. (Labour & National-Liberal coalition) and no other decent alternative.

I live in Sussex, England. Overall rating... 7/10

Good:

Freedom to do pretty much anything I damn well please (IF I can afford it!)

Not too hot in summer or too cold in winter

I live by the sea - very pleasant environment.

Serious crime were I live is very low.

Unlike the USA - I can gamble at any online casino I choose! :)

Bad:

Cars everywhere - it's like everyone owns at least two each!

Therefore most roads are gridlocked 50% of the time.

The average house costs on average EIGHT times the average salary = LUDICROUS!

Our petrol is probably the most expensive in the world.

Beer (in pubs) is also pretty close the the most expensive too.

We have tax on everything - even our tax has tax on it!

Cheap reliable frequent public transport is a long forgotten memory.

Our government prefers to spend money fighting wars in countries that have nothing to do with us, rather than helping the millions of Britons struggling below the poverty line.

Travelling to the nearest other country (France) costs ?100's

I live in Canada. I'd give us maybe a 9/10 - I don't think any country is perfect. The only thing I really don't like about my country - aside from the lousy roads LOL - is the government. I'd love to be able to elect a new Prime Minister every 4 years instead of keeping some moron - like Jean Chretien - for 10+ years!!

I curently live in Luxembourg and study in the US....

Luxembourg!! I used to follow the Royal Family and hope to visit there someday  Probably never will though - I have a long list of countries I want to visit before I end up in the ground! LMAO

I live in India and I would give it a 5/10.

India, India, India - how I love your Miss Aishwarya Rai!! My grandmother's best friend has a daughter who is doing missionary work in India with her husband (who is from India) and 2 daughters. She really loves the country, though their girls begged to go back to homeschooling (not too long after begging to go to school with their friends) because I guess their teachers were quite horrible - beating their pupils, etc. I don't recall hearing a complaint from her about India - aside from the stuff about her kids' school and the fact that she can't buy ant traps/spray there. LMAO :)

I live in SingaporeEverything is really good in terms of safety and natural disaster but I would rate it at 7.5/10 because of the sports coverage they have here. An over abundance of EPL and no Serie A.But other than that, the economy is competitive and is one of the top countries when it comes to cleanliness and safety. I couldn't have asked for better.

America, land of the not-so -free, home of the terrified-of terroism. America gets a 5/10. It's not a full y developed country yet, it's still lacking immensly in spiritualism. We have too many kids dying of starvation, without a decent place to live, yet we call ourselves the wealthiest nation on the planet? We are a bunch of pigs. The people in the country do nothing about the problems.

I live in the U.S of A and I love It here in the San Fransisco Bay Area, California, Ill give it a 10/10 no other place id rather be.-Pros--Not much Racial Descrimination, Some times there is reverse racism, but mostly all races get along in the bay.-Beautifull cities, and its close too everything, go 60 miles you can be on the beache, got 100 miles and you will be in the forest, go 200 miles and you will be up in the mountains, very well located and nice terrains in all directions.-Very Friendly people out here, there is a lot of stuck up mean people but the nice people override them-It is a hub of races, you will never see too much of one color in vallejo, cali, there is every race yuo can think of here and not really any of them out number the other by too much.-Good opportunity for success and wealth, If you put your mind too it you really can do anything you want, as people have said before, there is a lot of poor people in the U.S. but, you have so much opportunity, if you really just tried, you can make yourself middle class, or even wealthy.-A lot of schools to choose from, about 3-4 per every city and I mean 3-4 of each grade, such as Elementary, Middle School, and High School-Overall good weather, It never gets too cold, and only rarely does it get too hot too stand. Very moderate, perfect temperatures.-We feed the America, the central valley about 75 miles from where I live and the 400-mile-long Central Valley supplies fully one-quarter of the food America eats. So we are well fed out here.-We have the best alchohol in the world!!-The Bay Area's fame and music industry produces some of the greatest fame in the world!!! I live in the state formerly known as the Republic of Texas. Hah...too bad we can't go back to that, because we had it goin' on back then. Other than owing massive debts, which the U.S. oh so kindly absorbed in exchange for annexing us into the country :PAnyway...the U.S. gets a 9.5/10 from me.This country isn't perfect. No country is. No political idea is perfect, either. But here in the States, I have the right to say just about anything that I want about the politicians, the government, the laws, etc.People here can be horrifyingly closed minded - stereotyping people from other countries and religions. But at least we all have the freedom to do and be whatever. Part of the price of having the freedom to not go with the state's ideas on, say, religion, is that we have to put up with people who are too stupid to appreciate the great melting pot that we have here.Oh, and American football is better than soccer any day :D

I livs in North America as many people on this board. It's an okay country but sometimes I want to get away from the city life and wonder into a forest somewhere with nature but there isn't really that much nature around me, as I used to live in Ukraine where it's a great country land.
Anyways North America: 7 out of 10 on my scale.

Hey there are lots of very nice forests in N. America. Take a jouney down the Appalacian Trail, or explore the Redwoods in Northern CA. Just take a trip to PA or New York or geez any NE state, Mississippi etc. Lovely forests!
