k_nitin_r 8 Report post Posted December 26, 2009 Hi!I've been able to play Grant Theft Auto 1, Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. There are things I liked from all of them , though, understandably, the graphics from Grand Theft Auto 1 were really poor because it was built so long ago. However, other than Grand Theft Auto 3, the others were a bit frustrating in game play.In Grand Theft Auto 1, the fun factor was there but if I play it now, the graphics seem to get in the way of the fun. The game play was interesting at first, but then there's just no way to get rid of the wanted level and the cops always manage to catch up in the end.Grand Theft Auto 3 was the best in the series. The graphics were reasonably good and there was plenty to do in the game. This is perhaps the only game in the series that I managed to play right to the end on the first time that I started it. Game play was simply amazing compared to the other games in the series.Grand Theft Auto Vice City was fun to play, with the best enhancement over Grand Theft Auto 3 being the introduction of bikes. At a particular point in the game, I couldn't really figure out what was next so I couldn't finish the game. I didn't play it much as I got my hands on Grand Theft Auto San Andreas at about the same time.Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was pretty amazing with car modifications (especially the nitro boost), the stunts you could do (you can run your car over a ramp and up onto the metro tracks!!!), and the ability to outrun the cops and reduce your wanted level (unlike Grand Theft Auto 1 where capture was imminent). However, some parts of the game were pretty frustrating, such as the plane missions. I stopped playing about three times at the plane missions as I found them too difficult to complete. I read through a game guide to realise that many of the missions are optional. The gangster story line was pretty interesting too.Since we started this thread, I think hardware is no longer an issue as, except for Grand Theft Auto 4, pretty much all the other games in the series run rather well on current hardware (or even my hardware from three years ago, for that matter). deadmad7 4 Report post Posted December 26, 2009 Well vice city is very good, but none can top Sand Andreas.I just prefer the gameplay and graphics and it does seem to have a bigger map. Also, if you enjoy just wandering around aimlessly killing people, then San Andreas is definately the best. inverse_bloom 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) Yeah I'm another long time GTA fan. Although i often got frustrated with the difficulty level in GTA 1 and 2 levels. (I'm one of those players who appreciates the experience more than the challenge, for instance i think Myst URU is cool). GTA 3 is actually the last one i have played i went from 1, to 2, to vice city then finally to 3 (although i haven't tried GTA 4 yet). GTA 3 is actually interesting in the way when it hits night time in the a game, it really does look like night time (light intensity becomes very low, probably at the expense of game play a little, but its still cool!). I agree with one of the posts above when they mention Vice City has the best story line of the series from what i have played so far. buxgoddess 1 Report post Posted December 26, 2009 No discussion , no arguments. Its the GTA San Andreas that is the Best. No one can doubt about that.I have pled both the full licenced DVD version as well as the modded version and every time I play it seems that there was something that I did not complete or missed out on the previous occasions. Though the story in Vice city was much better I think, its the San Andreas which is on the top.More to mention the GTA IV must be gutted because of the resource heavy design. Who on earth will invest a hefty ammount on your graphics card as well as your processor for GTA which is even moving frame by frame at the best machines available. I had my friend invest $200 to upgrade his pc to play GTA IV only to find that there are enough frame stops and jitters every now and then that you just dont know how to duck and when to jump as you always lag in time due to frame slow rate. iGuest 3 Report post Posted January 9, 2010 GTA IVWhich Gta Game Is The Best?GTA IV for sure, that is for people with hi-tech computers, its simply the ideal game for people who like realism and intense violence, first of all what represents IV is it's requirements which sadly are not overcome by most people, second is it's graphics, which are dazzling, I mean san andreas looked real too, and before vice city looked real, but gta IV realy DOES look real, its almost a clone to reality look with some flaws, third is it's advanced game engine (Rockstar advanced game engine or R.A.G.E. As they call it) which makes the game appear close to reality, in example, unlike in gta san andreas where when you fall nothing happens except you losing health, but in IV when you fall from high ground you actualy have a few reaction forms like falling back or forth, the second thing is the solidness of everyone, and the reaction system, like if your lying on the ground and someone walks over you without noticing your there, he will trip over you and fall, but ofcourse IV has less features in sanandreas, but if such an advanced, system consuming game would have all the features san andreas had, it would simple cause crashes, I myself admire this game, even though my computer can't run it, I play it at friends and enjoy each time. -reply by Lolpingu
Atomic0 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2010 The best GTA game for me was Grand Theft Auto 4. The realistic graphics of the game were a major improvement over previous games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, where when I look back now, the game models looked artificial and lacking in realistic detail. Furthermore, I found the storyline missions both exciting and unique to play, with a broad range of different mission types and locations where the missions were played out in. One particular aspect, the ability to make your own choice during certain missions e.g. choosing which target to take down, make the storyplaying less linear and more open when compared to previous GTA games. Besides, the special effects available in-game, such as the drunken intoxication effect, added another level of realism into the game where others have not tried, although I found the blurriness and constant shaking of the screen sickening. However, the only portion of the game I didn't like was the limited range of weapons to choose from, considering the expansive set available in previouos Grand Theft Auto games.I also quite enjoyed playing Grand Theft Auto 2 back in the early days, with the top-down overhead view and good graphics setting it apart from other games of its time. iGuest 3 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 I just started playing gta 4 so I cant say much about that. Also I don't have a favorite part of the series. I loved the story of vice city and the endfight was great reminded me in scarface. ^^ gta san andreas had a huge map and a lot of offroad areas I loved to cruise through the woods and desert with the bike. Gta 1 is what it all started with. I still remember, when I played this at a friend for the first time. Gta 3 was the first 3d gta and it had great gameplay. The other 3d gta have that too but 3 started it. What I can say about 4 so far. I liked the cinematic begining also niko belic is the main character I can identify with the most. for the next gta they should take a story like in vice city, huge maps like in san andreas, the graphics of gta4 and nico belic as main character. This would be my favorite gta. -reply by krutoj
iGuest 3 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 I would definitely say San Andreas. I don't go with GTA 4 because it has nothing more than San Andreas. I would not count graphics because it is kinda obvious for GTA 4 to have better graphics because it is more latest and it should have it as a minimum requirement. Instead, I would say that GTA 4 is the first GTA game that ONLY improve graphics and nothing else. Every other GTA game improves on graphics plus new features when they came out new. GTA 4 instead removes some features that San Andreas have such as, aeroplane flying, train driving, food options in restaurants, gambling and casinos, gym and freedom to change appearance, and mini video games. GTA 4 adds stupid things like strip clubs.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 GTA Best GameWhich Gta Game Is The Best?I'm stuck here, I'e played all the GTA games GTA 1,2,3 London, Vice City, vice city stories, lib city storys, san andreas, 4, lost and damed, and ballad of gay tony but I'm still at a rutt, I loved the top down games, but I like the realism of the 3d versions.Vice city has a good storyline and I thourghly enjoyed the Back to the future mod for the pc version, san andreas has a great environment and the cheats and mods and stuff all pieces together nicely I liked GTA lib city stories but its basicly  GTA 3 reboot an I weren't too fond of GTA3 and 4 its amazing yeah but it lacks thing to do really, and the missions are suprisingly easy, even without cheats I've completed the game dying a few times an never once getting busted. The same goes for Lost and damed and ballad of gay tony. so I'm at a loss, I'll rack up vice, san andreas an 4 for the best ones without being able to choose-reply by ~Sy~

bandias 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2010 GTA IV is buggy and laggy. If you use patches it is great. I love it. Specially the details and people. Looks real. The only thing i don't like is there is a shadow bug.At 8:00 there is no car shadow, only Niko's shadow. And i think GTA should allow entering in more buildings, and more comunication with other people. That way it will look like realistic Sims :rolleyes:Anyway , all of the GTA versions get boring , because there are not so many special things after mission completing and there are not many interactions. 3echelon 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2010 The best Grand Theft Auto game out of the entire series would be Vice City, since it is the only one with the best story, and it always makes me laugh. I know the graphics are outdated but it is fun to play.GTA III was also fun and had an interesting story but lacked interesting gameplay and it was sometimes repetitive with its missions. Also GTA IV was great for its graphics and gameplay, it's story was also great but the constant about of bugs I experienced was what changed my view about the game. The classic birds eye view GTA games were good also but I cant remember playing them for the story since it was hard to progress through the game, and finally GTA San Andreas was a very bad game, YES it did have many interesting new features the the game but it was very offending to many cultures and lacked an interesting story. iGuest 3 Report post Posted May 10, 2011 GTA 3 IS THE BEST! I loved the dark feeling, I still play it today. San andreas was very overrated, I couldnt get into the stupid "gangsta" thing.Vice city was in a close second for me. Yeah, well at some point you gotta get over that.
