My cpanel couldn't be accessed after the host went down, so I couldn't get another back up. But I don't know what Google Cache is. If there's a way to get some of my latests posts, that would be great....How do you use Google Cache?Well... it was a philosophical blog thing. I really want to make a community site, but I don't think anyone will go to that domain, because my domain is actually my real name, and I don't think anyone would want to go to someone else's name's page as a community place, unless youre very famous, but I'm not. :/ I don't know. I even bought another domain for that kind of thing at the beginning of the year, but I haven't done anything with it yet. SO yeah. What I was thinking of... was having a really good design, like one of those web designer ones... but I don't really want it to be a web designer website, because I won't be taking orders or anything. And its not gonna be one of the web designer people's resume with a portfolio or anything, but the design is gonna be similar to it. It's just gonna be one of those sites where you can't do much with it... but once you see it, you go... Wow... that's a really smart idea for a site (like, the design and stuff).I don't know. Or you may have other ideas. I'm still open to anything, really. :/ But that was a vague idea of what I was thinking of doing.

That might be true... But I don't really understand why you would want to be in computing hosts paid plan though, as Xisto - Web Hosting isn't exactly the best paid host out there, but anyways. I guess you might've reduced the costs by the mycents system too. So... now posting on Xisto is more of a chore than fun? That just makes it sound so bad. :(Yeah, I agree about spending time on other sites but not your own though. Which is why I'm back here now to get back into websites and stuff and learn programming for future use.Unless Opaque starts doing something... I think thats what Xisto will become: a place of work... for reward, and not a place for fun and enjoyment. Which really sucks.

Well... I don't think Opaque would tell us if he did implement the old members = less mycents and new members = more mycents system, because that would just turn us off. And after reading deadmad7's post and mahesh2k's post, maybe its safe to assume that this is implemented? As we can clearly see that mahesh2K has way way more posts than deadmad7's. It used to update like... every 24 hours for me, but it hasn't updated yet and its been two days. :/ But then... I can't really tell as I've just come back. So yeah... but I probably will when I've been here for a few more days. mahesh2k How can we have fun if the forums dead? :/ It's funny how loyal we are. Or maybe its just because of the mycents thing, because if it was up to other forums... all the members would've left for a better one. Hi. As you may or may not have noticed... my signature is no longer working, mainly due to the fact that my free host at hosthelpers changed owners and decided to delete everyones hosting thing without asking or any warning... which also made me lose half of all of my posts (3 months work all lost), as well as all the coding and stuff and everything.Mind you... I DID make a back up, but then the hard drive on my macintosh crashed, and that was when I really lost everything. Kinda sad. But yeah.Now, I'm using another host... (also free), and hopefully this host will last longer. I am no longer interested in making a site that needs time and effort, but I still want to make one that is interesting or something. :/ If you look now, you will only see a blank page with one advertisment and one google search form and something that goes along the lines of "Congratulations! Your account is active!" or something.So... a blog is out of question, but I still want to make something interesting and something where people will actually come a visit... once in a while? I don't know. What do you think my new site should be? The only thing I need is easy with no hassles.

Hmm... It didn't seem to work. But then, I use a mac... so yeah. In the end, I had to do it in the mac version of notepad, which is textedit, save it as test.py and then run it. But I still don't get what terminal does... and what the grey box that pops out is. The reason why I'm using the same variable name for both inputs is because that is exactly what it says in the tutorial that I'm using to learn python. I'm doing their excercises one by one. I kinda figured out that "Terminal" kinda runs the program? I don't know how... but I'm guessing it does. If thats the case, then what is the point of Python Launcher?

That sucks. Well, if this is randomly assigned, then how are the new members getting more mycents than us? Unless the "randomness" of this includes a range of mycents that can be given to "new members" and another smaller range of mycents that can only be given to "old members"? People were already disagreeing on the mycents system since last year, when it was found that old members get less than new members, but at least the character count thing was... fair-ish? Like... the amount of work you put in equals to the amount of reward that you get. If they also took that off.... well... that really sucks. Why aren't the admins listening to the wants of their members? It's not like we are being too demanding or something. :/ Also. Just on a side note, my mycents haven't changed since yesterday. :/ Maybe they have problems with updating or adding mycents as well.

Hi guys... I'm trying to learn Python. Well. IT's kinda working. I understand the rules and stuff, but lets say I want to save a script of something... Lets say I have a script/line like this: print 'This is a test...' And I did that in the IDLE (Python Shell thingymabob) QUESTION ONE: How do I save it, and then run it? I tried just saving the shell as test1.py, and then use the Python Launcher by dragging the test1.py from one window to another, but this stupid window always pop up, saying: File type binding PythonLauncher is not the default application for all Python script types. You should fix this with the Finder's "Get Info" command. See "Changing the application that opens a file" in Mac Help for details. And three different windows all named "Terminal - bash 80x24" also pops up, but all three have different content in them, and I have no idea what it does. Not to mention another grey window that also pops up... :/ Which runs the program if I press the run button, but I don't get the settings of it either. So confusing. :/ Also... The python shell seems to not need programs to run down from one to another. And when I press "restart shell" on the top taskbar thing in mac, it just does nothing, but add a line at the bottom of the shell with a "RESTART" word on it. So... QUESTION TWO: So... what does the restart thing does, if it doesn't clear the python shell anyway? Now, lets say I am trying to write a script like this: n = raw_input("Please enter your name: ")print nn = input("Enter a numerical expression: ")print n This doesn't work, because when I press enter after the first line... it just prints "Enter a numerical expression: ", so I can't write the second line (print n)QUESTION THREE So... how do I write this script? And how do I run it, after I finally learn how to write this script? That's all for now. I've got plenty of questions coming (and hopefully it will add some life to the forums), but yeah. The main thing is running the script and stuff. I hope you can all understand my questions. :/ Jeez. Starting to actually program is hard.

OK... I reckon we should address this major issue: that Xisto is dead? And many members that were once very active is now longer active? Yeah, I know it sucks when some old member comes back and says... "I'm Back!" and then leaves again. I think I was a culprit a couple of times myself (not neccessarily on this site), but thats not the point. I think the main reason why this forum is dead is because people coming here aren't really enjoying it somehow? And the reason why old members come back is because they remember the site Xisto used to be, but now that they've come back, they realised that nothing has changed since they left it. (Like... it was dead when they left it and now its still dead) I don't know... I think its the vibe that it gives off, because there was this time when I was posting, and I started to realise that there werent any good topics to post about, despite my never ending question asking. There were also some problems with copyright or something or rather when Opaque put up this logo about Creative Commons license of whatever at the bottom of the page, as well as the mycents issue that everyone is talking about... where old members get less mycents. :/ I don't see what that does, because after a while, it just prompts old members to create new accounts, or drives them away (like it did to a number of members that were very active last year). And yes, this is true, because I know that I find it harder to earn mycents now as well, after a few months of fulling posting on the forums every single night. I think... that if the admins addressed this issue, then members would actually come AND stay... that is, the mycents issue. Also, not to mention that now that the domain has changed... I don't know if it affects google's ranking or whatever, but that might also be a factor of why we find less members coming here every day, because the main page is no longer this text page on free hosting, but some random flash... which I think again it also turns members off. (well, it did turn me off. I was like... what the hell happened to Xisto?) And yeah. Theres a also the problem that this forum includes a huge variety of topics. :/ If you look at very popular forums, they only talk about one and only one topic, where the members have one common interest. On the other hand, this forum emcompasses a whole lot of interests, which turns us off, because usually we only like one or two things... I don't think its fair that old members get less mycents, as old members have contributed to so much more than the new members, and that is what turned many off Xisto in the first place (now called Xisto). I don't mind if you make the average mycents rate less, but not as less as this, because that just means that you are turning loyal members off, or encouraging them to make new accounts, or something else, etc etc etc)AND if that happened, as in, if you changed the system, then what web_designer wants would be achieved, because the members that ARE getting turned off by this would stay, like... someone else who's name I forgot. :/ I'm sorry. I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU. I was gonna ask whether anyone has seen anwii on the forums lately, but I thought that that would sound a bit too desperate, so I didn't. Nice. Its because the problem is, my site got taken down, because I used a free hosting service, and they had really crappy service, but it was my first time and I didn't really know about it. The company then changed owners, and all the sites got taken down, which meant I lost half of all my philosophical blog posts (I got really sad about that, cause that really took some work - one post every two days), and my email stopped working after that. :/ Now, I just want to get my email working again, and thats the main reason for this, so I found another good host.. (also free, because I don't think I will be able to keep up with the posting at Xisto for the following years as my life would be extremely busy then), and I don't know how to add it on. But yeah.... And if I have time, I might just put some stuff as my site... but it won't be a blog because that takes too much time at the moment. Once I have free time again, I'll start being really active and actually do something useful. Oh. And my goal is to learn programming for real this time, instead of bugging inverse_bloom (if you remember him) and stealing coding from drupal's pro members then changing it for my convenience.

Yeah, it's the other way round. You don't point your blogger blog to your xisto domain, but your xisto domain TO your blog. Because you cannot move your hosting there, but the blogger blog allows you to have a custom domain name though, as long as you have one. You will have to buy one off xisto first, and then change the DNS, I think, or the CNAME (you can do that through xisto), and you can then access your blogger account through you new .com domain.Enjoy!Just realised...
