  1. OK... yeah, cool. Because I've found a Host that gives you 5000 MB Disk space and 50000 MB Bandwidth for posting 50 posts a month, which is easy because I easily did 40 in a day (one line ones count) and 1000 MB Disk space and 10000 Bandwidth for no posting a month at all!!! And I only need to earn $3.67 a month... assuming it is US dollars, it's really cheap compared to Xisto. And it's with a free domain too... with lots of features... Is that enough (assuming I won't be posting at all) for a weblog? I might host a top-level (.com) domain here at Xisto and link it to that Host, if that is allowed... which I think it should, as Xisto is not a registrar like Godaddy and name.com and stuff... While I do everything there at the other host. I don't know what "Search Engine Ad Credits" are, but that's $75, and if you want to pay yearly, then it's $44.00 a year, which is alright if I get enough traffic and enough people clicking on my ads... (I'm sorry I'm not posting the name here... I'll send it to you through Private Messaging if you want, but I've seen posts being edited because they were classified as "advertising" other hosts on here... or you can search it up). The main thing is that I was just wondering if 1000 MB Disk space and 10000 Bandwidth is enough, or 5000 MB Disk space and 50000 MB Bandwidth is enough for a starting website weblog... And I'll add things as things go... and hopefully earn around four dollars a month to keep up hosting, assuming that the "Search Engine Ad Credits" isn't something that you have to pay...
  2. I don't understand... if it is a redirect domain, why does it do bad in Search Engine Optimizations? I mean, I understand if it's two different sites that are actually the same website on two different domains... Search Engines like Google don't like to have duplicate results, so they put your website ranking down, but if it's a redirect domain... well, doesn't that just mean that it's two domains linking to the same site? And to The Disturbed One... the thing is, I can't choose the best domain name. I've been thinking about it so much that my head will literally burst for the past few weeks, and I still can't come up with one... But free domain first, top level domain comes later.
  3. Well, it's not illegal or anything... I just want to base my blog on this site. I do hope the site owner doesn't really find this post, but anyway... Yeah... Something like that, but the yellowish greenish buttons are smaller and the title thing is bigger... big enough to put an ad there... And maybe slight layout changes, but that's around about it concerning what I want in my blog on my perfect niche thing...
  4. So, do free domain providers give you "full" rights to your domain name? (Well, for the period that you are using it?)Also... OK...So it'll be hard to first time, but then it'll be easy, right?
  5. What's the other blogging software that you were or have been talking about? I've been searching for the perfect blogging platform and after a few articles it seems to me that Wordpress is the best... I mean, out of the top a hundred top blogs in the world the majority of the blogging platforms that the blogs use is Wordpress, and while I don't know why this is so or anything, I personally think that it is rather satisfying setting up your own blog (even if it's on a local webserver and not a proper sever that links to the internet)... But yes... and Wordpress allows you to customise your own blog template as well, not that Blogger doesn't let you do that, but the fact that the Wordpress templates have more files and folders just makes it look more authentic... Or maybe it's just me and my prejudices...
  6. Haha... thank... (By the way, does anyone know how to quote people from both the first page AND another page? That is, the second page on this thread, because I can't seem to do it. But anyway...) Yeah... I never really wanted to do a news blog. I reason why I did it was so that it could provide an income stream for me without really needing to come up with ideas on what to write about. I've hard of a blogger's block, and I don't wish to encounter that. That's all... But I don't like news that much. The psychic phenomena's good. I haven't seen more than ONE single blog on that, and if possible, I would like to do something similar to that too... Do you think I'll be allowed to post a link of that blog here and try and get help basing my blog on that? And mahesh2k (sorry I couldn't quote you, only bold you...) ... yeah, my activities slowed down a bit. I personally think I over-post too much and burn myself out, staring at the screen lifelessly. But yeah, more questions coming, so don't worry, just need to untangle them and prioritize them once all the current questions have been answered so I'll know what to post first.
  7. I personally have a lot of friends myself. I've got lots of friends from different backgrounds and different age groups, but unfortunately, my case is different from The Simpleton's. The thing is, because I've spread my friendship circle so wide, it just means that I don't have any close friends...which is great if you want privacy and time to yourself, because I seem to have a lot of that often, but not that good if you want to go out with your friends to the movies or the cinema of anything like that, because they will never invite you.So you'll just be the social butterfly. I mean, like you, I can call out nearly everyone's name bravely and say "hello" and call them a friend, and I can also join nearly any social circle and sit down and chat with them, and they'll accept me, but I won't be considered as one of their group members.I actually think that the best thing is like me, but also having your own "group" yourself. More often than once I get asked what "group" I'm in and I'm like... I'm with everyone... like, I can talk to anyone and stuff...And they're like... Ooohh... so you think you're popular? And I'm like... No... I don't have a group that I can call my own...So in group work time, I always get left out and stuff, and I yearn to have a group that I like that I will always be stuck with. Which is why I don't mind working with anyone, but it feels bad getting left our and people wonder why you're left to yourself when you're all that "so popular" and all that.
  8. haha... nice, thanks. Yeah, I was bored and I was just walking around the school randomly and I took the picture. Well, not so randomly, because we were doing something like "The City" in Art and so I had to take pictures of the "City"... or pictures that look like it. And yeah.. things on the desktop are easy to access and pretty convenient. That is, until your desktop gets so cluttered and all that that you can't do anything about it. Because you won't know which files are which and they'll just overlap each other.
  9. Wow... you make it sound more complicated than what everyone else that replied in this thread made it... So, it's much more complicated, or are the others right? What I'm talking about will be a weblog, because I'm thinking to doing a weblog now first, it seems easier to make and all that. OK, I'll do lots and lots of backups... but what does everyone mean by back upping via and with the FTP? And what's the DNS server? I don't know if I asked that before... I've asked many questions, but if I have please do forgive me. I've got a short term memory span. And cool, thanks for the articles. I'll bookmark this in case I will ever want to or need to use it. Aw... what!? Is Godaddy.com like that? Aw... no wonder they do things so cheaply. And I was thinking of, if I ever get the $2 that I need, buy the domains off them!!! But no... there's a $30 thing that they just had to put in and not let you use it for one year. That's sucks... Can you lose a free domain though?
  10. But that's different domains extensions ... what I'm thinking about is like... http://www.nameless.co.cc/ and http://www.nameless2.co.cc/ so it's different website name thingies... the title, I think, but with the same domain extensions.
  11. I was about to put this in with the other thread that I made on changing hosts, but then it wouldn't be on topic and it wouldn't attract more visitors to Xisto, so I thought I'll create a new thread about my question on a new thread on here... And the question is... Can you link two or more free domain providers to the same site? OK, I'm not a domain hogger. But that's only because I don't own any domains... But I want to be one... is it possible to link two or more FREE domain providers to the same site? Like, co.cc or co.nr or something like that? It's be like, so cool if you can, and I would like it if it is possible. I know that it is possible with paid domains... What do you guys think? Also, just for curiosity... do you think that it will be possible to link things to the same site even on different free domain accounts? I was just wondering, I've never created an account on free domain providers before, but I was just wondering that if (IF, I said...) if they had a limit to the amount of domains that you can have, do you think that it will be possible to um... link the different domains that you own (that's free) that's on different accounts (due to the domain limit) to the same site? Thanks...
  12. Hi people...It has come to me that many people complain about changing hosts and all that because it is rather difficult and hard to do so. Which is exactly why I want to know how to change hosts and all that should I ever come to have the need to know about it. Can someone tell me how to change hosts??? (Don't worry, I won't be changing from Xisto because I have not got a website at Xisto yet at all, and I do not intend to let all my hard-earned myCENTS go to waste... it's just for my curiosity... )Yeah... I mean, I really want to know how to do it... and the thing is, how hard can it be if you just linked all your back up-ed data that your web host has hosted for you and linked it to your new host? Or are there many more steps involved? Can someone shed some light on this topic for me?
  13. Yes... but I have to make a site first. That's where I'm stuck at.
  14. Maybe... yes. I am tired from posting on Xisto... but I haven't even started the newstack project completely, let along finish it. I might actually keep posting on it though, but on blogspot, as Adsense is already approved on the site. Or I might start something completely different with the same posts... but maybe not. It's easy to find content on a newsblog.
  15. Well, I don't have it, so I think that truefusion might be right on that... But why 502 posts? That is just such an odd number. If it was something else, like 500 or 550 posts then I'd understand... but anyway, it's just up to the admins, I think. I didn't even know you can edit your "Custom member title" at all... until I read this post, that is.. But now I know.
  16. No, I won't... :lol:I've been to too many roads at the same time too many times. I think I'll just stick onto my current road, which is building a website... but I still don't know what to build it on about... :(But yeah... still in my mid-teen crisis that always comes whenever I try to start building a new project. And I always fail... but I hope I won't this time...
  17. Woohoo!!! Well, thanks guys... No, I'm not discouraged from building a website... it's a misconception. What I'm saying is that I still want to build one, but I don't know what to build it on now... if you get what I mean... no news blog, then what blog? I found a successful psychic blog and if possible, I want to make something like that... but with a community. (Yes, they've got forums, but it's not very active, and the layout should be like Xisto. But as you can see, even if it's successful, no one wants to advertise on it, and that means that I won't be able to keep up with the domain hosting (.com) after a while, as well as the hosting package... I think, like BCD said rayzoredge did sum it up pretty neatly, and well, Baniboy is right. ( I still can't say enough thanks for all you've done for me... I did learn some things during all this. And after reading all your posts I'm kinda regretting posting this post up in the first place. To mahesh2k: Yeah, I'm a person that gets distracted easily... It's not the first time. I've been on lots of different projects, and I have so far succeeded in none of them. But this doesn't mean I still won't succeed in this one. I'm still determined in it. It's just that I now realised that I have wasted used up a lot of my time working on a news blog, where I kinda already knew that it wouldn't be successful at all, because I will not be able to compete with the actual news channel. And haha, I'm actually asking for advice, not pushing it away. That's the reason for this blog... To Simpleton: Like I said, I'm not discouraged from building a site. I still want to, it's just that I don't really know what to work on now. Psychic? Or news? Or something else? (Which, by the way, I still probably won't do because it's not going to be successful at all...)
  18. Hi people...Just realised why there aren't that many news blogs around. The reason is, the actual news channels have their own blogs themselves, so people go and subscribe to them instead...SO, I've just wasted a few weeks of my life working on a useless project!!! I'm seriously having serious doubts about myself right now... So I'm deciding to ditch the money making thing once and for all and just work on my psychic phenomena site... I can't believe I stupid I was... At least the local webserver's working!!! That's good, though I don't even know whether this psychic phenomena site will go on the internet or not in the first place...But I intend to use all my credits, thank you very much... :PCan someone suggest a name and stuff for me? And tell me what should be in it? Because I feel like my life is in a wreck and I just really don't know what to work on now... and it feels like all this time that I was on Xisto is just a waste of time... :(Someone help me, please... thanks...
  19. Hey!!! That actually looks good. :lol:It's better than another site that I found, because for this you earn money without having people to click on ads while on the other site (scienceray) they only give your 50% of what you earn with your content. I think... :PHow do you make a site like that?
  20. Thanks Phoneix... but that is just WAY too plain... :lol:I'm still looking for ways to customise my three templates but I don't really know what to do.Can I just copy and paste the functions in or something? And delete the other not working functions??? This isn't the thread, but... I don't think anyone replied to that yet...
  21. Oh.... OK. Thanks. Yeah well... I mean, the box thingy just looks... BAD... maybe it's the blue banner at the top, but I just don't know... it looks the same as the Kontera ads... but worse, maybe, because the blue stands out. If they can like, make it smaller, cuter, and things without the gigantic banner at the top that will be great... just a mini speech bubble with a black stroke-like border around it, with the phrase "Answers.com" small and mini at the bottom. And it'll be plain white.
  22. I still think that free ones are the best ones though, if you can customise it to suit your needs... :lol:Can someone tell me how to merge some Wordpress templates together? They don't work right separated, but if I can somehow merge their functions together it'd be great. Thanks. (I've made a thread about it but no one replied... yet - maybe it's just too long. )
  23. There won't be an infinite number of mirrors, because it is: 1) A Rather highly unlikely chance of getting the mirrors to be EXACTLY opposite with no degree of variation or anything whatsoever. 2) The energy of the light passing between the (let's say, hypothetical) aboslutely perfectly parallel mirrors will fade out eventually as it goes into infinity. So at some point the light will no longer reach the next mirror in the mirror... not the next mirror in the mirror in the mirror. If you look carefully you will realise that you can only make out a few... but not a quite a big number of mirrors at all, and the rest fade into darkness (or should I say greyness?) I have a question to this. What if the person that is looking through the mirror in "reality" or in out world is evil themselves? Then will they be even more evil? Or will they be the opposite of evil? Good? Then it just means that the good people are bad, and the bad people are good, and yet even if their morals are completely the opposite, they still do good and bad things respectively, and opposite in the mirror. For example, if you look at a "evil" person and criminal murdering his or her own mother, then according to your speculation and fantasy (I can't say hypothesis because it cannot be tested by science nor by logic), then the so-called "evil" person actually has "good" intentions, and yet they are doing a "evil" thing, depending on how you define "evil". Then what makes a person "good" or "evil"?
  24. Oooh... thanks. The Wordpress.org main page also said I'll need to learn PHP, and when I went to w3schools.com to learn PHP, it said that I will need to now Javascript as well as HTML, so I'm dunking my head into Javascript right now. There is a problem that I've found with the Monoschrome Template. The thing is, when I do a post, all the mini boxes at the bottom shows the same newest post, while I want it to show the newest posts in each different category (for example, crime, sport, politics, research, etc...). Like this (another screenshot): (Sorry, if the posts are long then that happens... , so I only put the top and the bottom part of the whole website. I have zoomed out to the very most... the middle section is just blank with the side bar...) So I've also downloaded the Monochrome Gallery Template. This is different because the category thing actually works, but there's a blank space where the side bar should be, I really don't know what happened, and there is a black space for pictures, which wouldn't suit me because I won't have a lot of pictures at all, and I don't know how to use it in the first place, and I don't think I'm allowed to use them like that even if I source them to the actual site... mini pictures might be OK but not big ones for copy right issues... but it's be great if I can use that. (Note: I will also have to leave space for some ads somehow, somewhere on the site... but I'll figure that out later.) This is the Monochrome GALLERY template: As you can see, that is a lot less longer than the Monochrome Template... but the sidebar is missing, and I need it back!!! The Monochrome doesn't even have a side bar at all, but at least they filled up the space. I don't think that the black thing at the bottom serves as a sidebar, because it doesn't show up the default sidebar of all Wordpress templates. (The Wordpress blogroll, archives, and all that in the "In Berline" Theme. So I'll need to kinda give a sidebar to the Monochrome Gallery, work out a way to replace the Black Slideshow bit with an actual post like the Monochrome, but bigger, like the "In Berlin", and somehow change everything to red and not solid black...
  25. Another episode of Nameless_'s Stupid and Retarded Questions!!! Well, not exactly a minute after my first episode, but it IS a few hours later... Well, I think I can safely say that my search for blog templates is done... Well, I've found two that I like, and I would like to merge the two of them if it is possible... The first one is the Wordpress provided "In Berlin", and the second one comes from GraphPaperThemes (provided to me by BCD), and it is called Monochrome 1.2.1.... The thing is, I like "In Berlin's" Red Theme, Background and all that, but I also like Monochrome's layout. I'll see if I can provide a screen shot of two of the templates... This is the In Berlin Theme: And THIS is the Monochrome 1.2.1 theme that I like (it's bigger than that, but I've zoomed out once to give you a better view): I like everything of the Monochrome, but I think that it's just too plain, and the In Berlin Red Colour Choice and template would be nice, though it'd be even nicer if the box thing was wider. The Monochrome also give you the options to let you see links and all that at the bottom in the black link thing, I think, but it doesn't has anything in it yet. And the In Berlin doesn't have that. I want to merge the two sites together, so the In Berlin can have the Monochrome's functions, and the Monochrome can look less plain with more colour (red) and style. Are there any tips of changing it so the template suits my needs?
