If you liked the Dragostea you may like what is probably the most upbeat of all non-hymn genres (obviously I have a bias ), something called "Arena Rock" -Accidentally in Love (Counting Crows) -It's My Life (Bon Jovi) -Peace of Mind (Boston) -Long Time (Boston) -The Breakup Song (Greg Kihn Band) -Flashdance (Irene Cara) -We Built This City (Jefferson Starship) -The Middle (Jimmy Eat World) -Limelight (Rush) -Blue Collar Man (Styx) -Meant To Live (Switchfoot) -Breathless (The Corrs) -Higher (Creed) Instrumentals: -Cliffs of Dover (Eric Johnson) -Darude (Sandstorm) -Classical Gas (Mason Williams) Hymn Songs: -He Reigns (Newsboys) -Hanging By a Moment (Lifehouse) -I Can Only Imagine (Mercy Me) -I Think God Can Explain (Splender) -Higher Love (Steve Winwood) Also, you can get these songs pretty easy from Stationripper (100% legal and completely free, can be gotten from ZDnet), you just have to know what stations to go to to find them. It's because it's like recording songs off the radio with tapes that it's legal, since you don't know which songs you're getting. Some stations have songs very well spaced, particularly this one Well, let me know what you think.

Probably not what you're looking for, more a hymn... Really uplifting though See What A Morning For an alternative: Dragostea Din Tei

Bush Vs. Kerry Who are you rooting for?
Joshua replied to Fu Still Better's topic in General Discussion
I was rooting (seriously) for them to both get marooned on a desert island before the election. I voted for Peroutka. -
I'm A Christian... How many are there from this forum?
Joshua replied to eTronicGaming's topic in General Discussion
Saved August 5, 1998. And very funny about the part Christian, LOL. Either you're in a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ or you're still His enemy and under His wrath. You talk like saying you're a Christian makes you one, lol. -
Fat Arms : My Real Story how to lost the arm fat
Joshua replied to bizchina's topic in Health & Fitness
Why not just try using a 10 lb. weight (possibly 5) and just using 1 arm at a time bring it up and down as fast as possible focusing all your energy on doing it as quickly as possible until you can't do anymore? Try it with both arms, should only take 5 minutes or so at the most, if that. A couple times a week I'd imagine should be pretty effective. -
After reading an article on how Colgate Total is far and away the best brand (and most recommended by dentists, I've actually talked to one who agreed) as far as cavities, so it's my favorite right now.

I had severe depression before I got saved and a little bit afterwards, 5-7 years ago. I was suicidal as well and my mom was diagnosed with manic depression and schizophrenia I believe it was. I was on Effexor and St. John's Wort too, had a bottle sitting around in my closet I didn't even notice (the wort) until recently. I was also on Paxil and Welbutrin too, probably some others too that I don't remember. I don't really know that one was any better then the other though since I was on a bunch at one time, didn't spend much time on any one only. They only seemed to make things worse, if you're right about St. John's Wort that was probably what did it too, and since it was an over-the-counter one that was easily procureable... Well, I just gave up on them all and trusted in God and He got me out of it. I don't know that I'd say life has gotten easier, but God has helped me bear things that once would've crushed me more easily, and He's working my life out to be the most meaningful, valuable one I can have on planet earth. Good enough for me

Your All-time Worst Book Your all-time worst book
Joshua replied to electriic ink's topic in General Discussion
I tried looking at the Koran before since someone asked me to and just starting off it talked about killing everyone in sight and raping young girls, which might not have been as bad as it was if it didn't use such EXTREMELY graphic terms... Maybe I just got a bad english translation but... Also, looking at stuff on Catholic doctrine (someone asked me to do it again) always is tough for me, not something I like, and reading through the extra books they've added to the Bible was a bit annoying, there was this one about a girl who had sex because she believed God told her to or something like that as well, something with a pharisee or something like that if I remember right, and I was just like *blecch* -
Awesome, glad to see you and Cammy are fellow Bible-lovers No book in history could've changed my life more then the Bible, because of it I'm no longer dead, if not for it, I'd never have born. I've made it the rule for my life, knowing it the Word of God Himself, I've genuinely faced it up to every question everyone's ever asked of it, and if I didn't understand something I'd keep looking and asking God for guidance. I've never been disappointed. Everything I've ever found that's worth anything has been because of it. Let's see... Josh McDowell's "More Then A Carpenter" is a great book, easy read and jam-packed with info. C.S. Lewis writes some good stuff, I like "The Cure of Souls" by Oswald Chambers. "Sinners In the Hands of an Angry God" is an awesome book despite being written so long ago. I've seen some decent stuff from charles Ryrie before as well. I like Martin Luther's writings on the priesthood of a believer but I disagree on a lot of his stuff as well. I like Scofield's notes, Strong's Concordance, Halley's Bible Handbook, and Explore the Book all as reference materials.

The Bible, 1st and 2nd Timothy specifically, aside from just looking through for specific verses like I do so often.

Should Religion Be Updated? debate modern religion today (poll)
Joshua replied to Joannespw's topic in General Discussion
A religion is simply a way of life, the 1st Ammendment is supposed to PROTECT religion so anyone can follow whichever religion they choose, including a religion which believes in nothing. The way in which you live your life is a religion, Evolution (falsely so called, really macroevolution which is unproveable) is also a religion. There are plenty of mass-murderers out there who don't believe in God. Likewise there have been those (Crusades, Inquisition, Conquistadors) who falsely claim to be Christian but don't follow the teachings of the Bible. Like the Pharisees, we can judge/sentence/punish according to the Law only if we ourselves are sinless. As Christ said, there is none good but one, God. (Mk. 10:18) Vengeance is God's alone. (Ro. 12:19) The world is worthy of death and guilty before God. (Ro. 3:19, 6:23) It is no longer "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." (Mt. 5:38-39) Being in authority can subject us to even greater condemnation, we are still accountable to God. (Jas. 3:1) Love is the fulfilling of the Law because it does no harm to others. (Ro. 13:10) True Christianity is not about a set of beliefs or doctrines or claiming some institution as your own. As James 3:19-20 says, simple knowledge/faith in one God is not enough to save, and without works is dead. (Note that this isn't the faith spoken of by Paul in Ro. 10:8-10 and Eph. 2:8-10) There is no me-you problem or problem between me-others or you-others. All eternity focuses on our relationships with only one person-Jesus Christ. Christianity is about getting in a right relationship with God through Christ and His finished work on the cross. In short, Christianity is simply about a person and our relationship with Him-Jesus Christ. He is the way to eternal life and escape from the eternal punishment we deserve. It's knowledge of the love for us which brought Him to die such a horrible death that can break through to the most hardened hearts, so that they confess their sins to Him and trust only in Him for all eternity. Christianity is not about becoming a good moral person, or getting some set of blessings in your life, it is simply about escaping the wrath to come for our rebellion against God through His finished payment on the cross. God is both perfectly loving and perfectly just, He cannot overlook sin. The true story is often presented as an example of this, in California several years ago a judge found a girl guilty of speeding and fined her 100 dollars, but then, ironically being her loving father, came down and paid the fine in her behalf. God being perfectly just must exact a sentence, but being perfectly loving has done all He can to pay the penalty for our sins if we'll only accept it. T100 seems to place a high value on science or knowledge, but not all knowledge = truth. You can be ever learning yet never coming to the knowledge of the truth. The ancient peoples he speaks of surely include the Greeks, who Paul spent so much time debating with, "opening and alleging" (Acts 17:3) with as a lawyer would present a case. Some people seem to have this idea that blind faith is involved, but as Ravi Zecharias likes to say, God doesn't ask to commit intellectual suicide. Some intellectuals who were the most fervent in setting out to disprove the Bible have become of its greatest supporters, like C.S. Lewis and Josh McDowell. Furthermore, the Bible plainly calls here those who genuinely question the Scriptures "noble" so long as they do so "with all readiness of mind." Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. -
Well that's an earful.

60-70 for me but that's with my constant spell-checking, even for typing tests I'll go back and retype any misspelled words, it's a habit. If I didn't do that I expect I'd probably get a bit faster. And I did have a college instructor before who typed in that 250+ wpm range, but he could only do it with some special ergonomic keyboard or he was quite a bit slower. Still very, very fast though.

Applying For A Job... ...with no experience...
Joshua replied to theconman's topic in General Discussion
Well, my younger brother had a perfectly legal job at a restaurant recently when he was 14. I had a job last year with the Census dept. (great job, but not going to be an option this year) and it's good experience. My brother had a job with the VFW when he was even younger too, you might have a better chance getting a more informal job, if you have associates for clubs or groups around you you might do well to ask them if they know of something. Just some thoughts. -
If God asks you why He should let you into His Heaven in the final day, what will you say? If you don't believe that to be the case, what would you say if that happened, and what do you believe will happen instead?

Look What Info I Dig From Webpages On Phylosophy vs. materialism
Joshua replied to Lyubomyr's topic in General Discussion
C.S. Lewis addressed this pretty clearly. As he says, we have 3 options:1. Call Jesus Christ a liar.2. Call Him a lunatic, on the level of someone who says they're a poached egg.3. Fall down on our knees and worship Him as Lord and God.He goes on to say, but let us not come about with this nonsense of Him just being a great teacher, He hasn't left us that option. Christ said He was the way, the truth, and the life, and the only way to God. He never said anything about other ways to God. He clearly stated that He was God several times:John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one.Even the Jews recognized what He was saying here, and He did not deny them:John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.A similar scenario:John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.Thomas fell at His feet and worshipped Him as "my Lord and my God." As Christ said, if only we who have not seen would believe also. -
Martial Law What would you do if they declared it?
Joshua replied to dizilluziondmasokist's topic in General Discussion
Saw the Pentagon Strike video did you? It certainly makes some interesting arguments but has a lot of fallacies in its reasoning as well, wings are loaded with fuel, it's why they'd disappear in a crash. There are no missiles mounted on the White House, they didn't go through with it. It certainly seems plausible that Bush or the government would stage 9/11 to start the war if they were willing to lie about WOMD to the nation about it. However, I don't see evidence for it and am not going to waste my time worrying for it, the Antichrist/Beast comes when he comes. -
While we may disagree on whether or not Bush was right in waging the war shouldn't we at least agree that his reasons for starting the war, including lying the American people to start it, were wrong? Is lying to the people you lead so little an offence now? However, I happen to like Kerry even less, like Barack Obama he claims to support the American family yet not only supports the killing of children but has specifically said he will try to keep all judges out of the courts who are against abortion. I happen to find more to like about the Republican stances, but unfortunately that's all I find them to be, just stances. Me, I voted for Peroutka.

A Highly Controversial Topic: The Death Penalty.
Joshua replied to UnheroicHero's topic in General Discussion
Bjrn is getting at one of the big issues here. I find it ironic that despite all the furor over the multitudes of innocent people on death row so many people are still in support of the death penalty. People get so happy about "justice" being done by taking the lives of the guilty, but what about the innocent ones that get taken as well? Is it alright to kill one innocent person so 99 guilty ones can die and be punished? That's essentially what not only the American society but our government is saying. As for the Bible view, Christ pointed out that once it was an eye for an eye according to the Law, but since we're all guilty of death that point is moot. Like the pharisees who wanted to stone the adulterer, we can judge (punishing/sentencing as a judge) only if we ourselves are without sin. And as Christ says, there is none good but one, and that is God (Mk. 10:18), it's why only God had to come to earth to pay for our sins, as a man to pay the sins of mankind, as God since men cannot be a sinless perfect sacrifice to pay for sin, or infinite to pay for the sins of all rather then just their own. There is one just judge and He says vengeance is His, not ours (Ro. 12:19). When we take it upon our sinful selves we see the great miscarriages we are so accustomed to seeing in our society, of innocent people waiting to be executed, locked away for much of their lives, their lives and relationships ruined. I myself do not see why we continue to pursue the killing of others as a means of justice (and we ourselves all guilty of death) when we can't even guarantee we're getting the real criminals. One innocent (and I use the word as one not guilty of the crime they're accused of, not perfectly innocent which none of us are) life taken is too much. -
Well Mike, sex outside of marriage specifically is called adultery as is divorcing for any reason other than adultery by the other person (Mt. 19:9). For Christian believers it's a very real concern since you are sinning against your body the temple of the Holy Ghost, and only fornication is such an offence against that temple (1 Co. 6:18). It is a crime worthy of death, as is using the Lord's name in vain. However, I do not believe even a majority of the majority of the world which claims to be Christians actually are, since Christ said few will find the path to life (Mt. 7:14) yet many will come to Him in the last day claiming to be His only to be told they never knew Him (Mt. 7:23). Many is the majority, not the few. Long story short, most of the people out there are assumeably not Christians and sin, any sin, sends them to Hell (Ro. 6:23), which is why we're all guilty and only God in the flesh could be otherwise and pay for our sins (Ro. 3:23-26), perfection as sinlessness has always been far from mankind, and is what is needed for us to escape a place the Bible calls "the Lake of Fire." What I'm saying is adultery doesn't send us to eternal damnation any more then hating your brother does, which is equated to murder (1 Jn. 3:15). Living a good life doesn't get you to Heaven, when God asks you why He should let you into His Heaven, a reply of "I tried to live a good life" or "look at these works I did" will not be sufficient. And so trying to force abstinence on people if they don't want it for a moral reason if they are unsaved does no good since they're Hell-bound anyway, although their further sins will be racking up even more punishment for them in the life, or rather for them the eternal death, that is to come. Forcing abstinence on those who don't want it does not save them from anything is what I'm saying, it may only serve to place their faith in their own righteousness, which will prove their downfall in the day of judgement which God has appointed. However, forcing sex education for those who don't need it and consider it a very real attack on their attempt to live a godly life is not only unnecessary, it is wrong.

Well, the Bible gives plenty of examples of people seeing angels and demons also work in this world. Hebrews 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Also, as C.S. Lewis would say, we are all eternal spirits in a world that tries to hide our true identities from us. There are only 2 spiritual realms, God's & the angels, and Satan's/the devils. There is no middle ground. So I'm sure there is something going on in some cases, but I think people are barking up the wrong tree about it being people back from the dead.At work, not also work... Hmm... you'd think if they're dedicating so much effort and focus to this forum they could put in an "edit post" option Notice from BuffaloHELP: You can notify admins/mods to edit or merge your posts by clicking on REPORT. Merged two posts.

Only one man has ever been good. Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
-
At any rate, I think it should be a choice to listen to either the safe sex or abstinence views. Indeed, why should people choose abstinence if they're non-Christians? They're interested solely in themselves and most likely personal gratification, including sexual. People know things like smoking and drugs are risks yet do them anyway. The reason for abstinence would be if they were born-again Christians interested in pleasing God rather than themselves. Forcing people to hear either view is ultimately going to be wrong for some, either in forcing some to watch stuff they don't need to see and is wrong for them to see, or getting others to avoid something out of fear rather then for the right reasons, and based on faulty evidence.
-
1. I think Bush was wrong in going to war.2. I think Bush was more wrong in saying his decision was God-influenced. Vengeance is God's, He will repay. Doesn't say Bush should. An interesting faux pas made by Bush was in describing the war as a "crusade", as certain peoples in the area surely recall a war started by the ultimate anti-Christian organization several hundred years ago.

I'm not particularly happy about my tax dollars going to fund someone else's religion either, they call it "Evolution", when it's really macroevolution in particular.
