    Php Error

roger112 pointed out the first problem (you forgot to close the $sql variable). Since you forgot to close it, the closing part was all the way down to the echo statement where PHP encountered the number 1. But there is a second problem here: mysql_close($con)You're missing a semicolon at the end.
  2. It is possible, though it may most likely involve compiling GNOME yourself. What i would suggest to do first is find a PPA repository for the version of Ubuntu that you are using. These repositories are normally for testing newer versions of programs and are suitable for those who want to live on the "bleeding edge." If you can find one, see if it has a newer version of GNOME. If it does and it is the version you are looking for, then you are in luck. If not, then you'll have to consider compiling GNOME yourself. Note that if a GNOME update comes along from the official Ubuntu repositories for your version of Ubuntu, that may (will) overwrite any changes you have done. There is a way to freeze updates for packages of your choice, but i don't remember the command for that (so you'll have to look that up). To prevent any updates from undoing any of your work, you'll have to freeze updates for GNOME and its dependencies you install. As k_nitin_r suggested, if you have trouble compiling GNOME, the LFS documentation may help if the documentation that comes with GNOME doesn't.By the way, you can increase the number of workspaces in GNOME by right-clicking on the workspaces panel widget and clicking "Preferences." I'm pretty sure this feature existed long before Ubuntu 10.04 came out. It is an old window-management standard either set by freedesktop.org as part of NetWM (a.k.a EWMH) or ICCCM, so i'm sure it was around even since Ubuntu 6.10 and behind. Some window managers may have a limit of 10 workspaces, but there is really no limit.
  3. Some time after the install, i came across the same problem as i mention here. I'm not entirely sure when it occurred, as i was able to install plenty of things (none of which were updates) before the problem occurred, but it still seems to be time related. I'm inclined to say this is a bug in the kernel, but so far this has only happened with GTK-based desktop environments, though i haven't tried XFCE yet.
  4. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 (not Kubuntu) to see if i would get the same problems from #1 and #2. My NTFS partition was picked up and i can access it. The time it takes to boot up and log in is about the same as when i was testing 10.04 in Kubuntu (though perhaps slightly faster do to there being no splash). The other three mentioned in your review aren't necessarily problems, but i do find myself reaching to the upper right when i want to close the window, only to get reminded that it is at the upper left now.
  5. Unless you have heard else where that Nvidia card drivers conflict with ATI card drivers, then there is no need to do any kind of maintenance work for those things (though you should still uninstall the Nvidia card drivers for the sake of having a neater system). The power supply you have now is just fine for either card. In fact, i'm pretty sure you could even get the system to work if you had a 430 watt power supply.
  6. This is something i have been experiencing, at least something similar to it, ever since the beta "testing." The system doesn't freeze per se (as i could still hear the music playing), but the monitor does go into power-saving mode and the mouse or keyboard, or turning the monitor on or off, doesn't make things come back; restarting being the only solution. This has been very random and it has been quite hard to determine the exact issue, but it could be do to composition mode. For me it tends to happen whenever i have Google Chrome and Firefox open and one of them had initiated the flash plug-in sometime in the past (and the system does some window compositing). However, do to the fact that it has happened to be once randomly when i didn't have those two open, i can't say that flash or either browser is the problem. I have yet to do a clean install of Ubuntu (Kubuntu), so i'm not sure if this problem is even present still.
  7. When there are no curly brackets, PHP will only consider the one statement following the if, foreach, for, or similar statements. This follows from C, which PHP is coded in. Conditional statements, therefore, can be written like if ($this) do_this(); else do_that();if ($this) do_this();else do_that();This may or may not make things easier to follow, but it does look more like English (though other languages come closer do to their "simpler" syntax).
  8. Here is what i came up with. It can be viewed in any browser supporting SVG, but made with InkScape.
  9. Ninja and Commando can't be equipped at the same time. Those who use LMGs as their primary tend to play with either Scavenger or Sleight of Hand. But since you use tactical knife perhaps you are using Marathon. For most stages i play with the P90 with the silencer attached, but for Derail, Afghan and Quarry, i would consider the 3-round burst assault rifles. I prefer mostly the P90 do mostly to its stats; the magazine size also allows me not to worry much about reloading. I have Commando Pro too, mostly used for tight spots (though lag renders it useless sometimes), but for my sniper class i have Ninja. If i don't have Stopping Power, then i either have Cold-blooded or i end up dying often. Not many guns can dish out enough damage without Stopping Power. Since CoD4 i've always wanted the ability to run without running out of stamina, so i always have Marathon on no matter what class i use. Until i get my favorite shotgun, as my secondary i have the Stinger?appears to be the fastest to pull out and can take down aircrafts in one hit. But once i have my favorite shotgun i tend to use it as if it were my primary.
  10. There's something about Rigaudon's signature that had me vote for his. Maybe it is the color and style, but whatever the case, he has my vote.
  11. The only way to hack the code is if you have access to the code. The user accessing the page will always be given the already parsed compilation. However, the browser will always render any and all HTML (and JavaScript). The worst case scenario of an incompetent developer would be using eval() on unfiltered user input. That's the same as giving anyone the ability to write their own PHP scripts on your server. It's not necessarily PHP with the flaws but the developer. PHP provides you with all that you need to keep your code safe, you just have to make use of them. Yeah, it'll take some time to learn all of this, especially if you don't have any previous knowledge on other similar languages, but this knowledge should be necessary for anyone seeking to learn the language.

  13. As the proverb goes, Proverbs 6:30-31. It is still illegal to do so. If people are willing to turn a blind eye to a hungry person stealing to satisfy their hunger, shouldn't it be ever more the case that the very same people turning a blind eye would be more than willing to purchase food for this person if this person asked them? Yet, you would have to have an objective way to figuring out whether or not the person who is hungry is pretending to be poor or if they really are poor. While the business world and the economy may not make much sense to me in many areas, i believe it would be unjust for anyone to place blame on a supermarket for hunger in the world. In fact, if it weren't for the price tag placed upon resources, we, being mostly selfish creatures, would have depleted our resources a long time ago, since many of us have trouble knowing when enough is enough. The definition provided very much applies to acts of piracy. You are left to wonder "what are they taking away?" You, by implication, assume that the thing in question deals with money, a.k.a. "profits." However, there are also licenses applied to all forms of media that come into play, which may or may not allow for third-party distribution. In other words, what are acts of piracy taking away? The right of the author to have his or her work treated in the way they so desire. Granted, these things may not always be explicitly published, but if companies like record companies are trying to stop these things from occurring, it follows that the way they want their work treated is against the acts of piracy.
  14. This is why you use advanced content management systems (i.e. those that can create, edit and delete content). However, i won't say that designing a template that is compatible with the content management system is easy, but the popular ones tend to have user-submitted templates. It is true that you won't need a database, nor a system that allows you to manage files from your own website, but one of the major conveniences a content management system provides is menu generation. HTML-only pages implies that you would have to manually update the navigation menu everytime you, for example, upload a page that you want others to see. For my website i have a flat-file content management system that i coded from scratch do that for me (and a few other things for convenience)?though the system itself doesn't completely manage the content in the way one normally thinks of "management."
  15. This has happened before, and may happen again at some point, but this has been fixed pretty quick in the past, so there is nothing to worry about.
  16. Visit the DaniWeb website, specifically when you are troubled with a problem in whatever mark-up or scripting language and they have a potential solution, with JavaScript enabled, and then tell me whether or not you are bothered by it. I mention this website because it is the first one (and probably even the only one i've ever come across) that comes to mind. One of UI design basics is to reduce the amount of pop-ups for any program or script. In fact, it is recommend to use pop-ups mostly as a confirmation for actions that cannot be reversed (e.g. closing a program with unsaved work in it).
  17. This is a problem a friend of mine had with Windows 7 a while back where the program would pretend to be Windows Defender or some related security program and it prevented him from accessing the internet and running certain software which the program declared "unsafe." I had recommended him the very same program at that time and he says that solved the problem. It seems like this program is one of the few, if not the only, programs that can get rid of this problem (at least by online recommendation). But it is problems like these that make people want to consider other operating systems that are not part of the Windows family.
  18. You may want to look at the following topic (tutorial) by rvalkass: click. It may be what you are looking for.
  19. I too plan on using Reftagger on my site. But to do what you want, the only way i know how is to replace the content of the document through innerHTML. <script type="text/javascript"> function wlc() { var reg = /\b(WLC Q?\d{1,})\b/g; var iHtml = document.body.innerHTML; iHtml = iHtml.replace(reg, "<a href=\"#\">$1</a>"); document.body.innerHTML = iHtml; } window.onload = wlc(); </script> Just make sure this is at the end of page (right before the ending of the body element). Just replace <a href=\"#\">$1</a> with whatever you want. Note, though, that this assumes that WLC Q# won't be within title or alt attributes.
  20. From the topic title alone i would have suggested PHPMyAdmin; however, from the starting post i would say that what you are looking for is generally not something that you can find online that will fit all your needs (though you could find something that can help you achieve your goal, i.e. do most of the work for you, mostly backend work, but not all). PHPMyAdmin is a PHP frontend to MySQL databases. In other words, it allows you to alter, delete, edit, create rows and tables from an already existing MySQL database, and do other things, but it in no way will handle any form input (except from PHPMyAdmin itself) or act as an IP management system for you. What you are looking for is generally done from scratch. You could probably find a generic PHP database management script (API) that would allow you to manage (edit, insert, delete, et cetera) information with a MySQL database, but i don't know of any (since i tend to build my own). You can use any obvious keywords from this post to search for a script To clarify, a "View" in MySQL, if i understand it correctly, is simply a temporary representation of the data accessed by a query.
  21. From observing others (and them talking to me about it), i find this to normally be the case; they've just met the wrong kind of women. However, this is not to say that it is always easy to figure out that they are the wrong kind of women (woman). And a lot of the times it seems like there aren't many upright women. But that is not to say that finding an upright man is any easier.
  22. I'm not really sure why this requires AJAX to begin with. But if for some reason it does, then why not just redirect to the file through JavaScript redirects if they are allowed to download the file? Most browsers (if not all) won't cause a blank page to occur but pop up their internal download dialog. And even if some do, hitting back shouldn't cause any loops to occur. But, at least in theory, the browser should be treating the requested page as any other page (except for the fact that it doesn't render the page to any view unless so desired by the programmer), therefore it should be interpreting the headers as well. I'm quite sure you can set cookies using AJAX (which themselves are done through headers).
  23. The security of a password may depend more on the encryption used to encode the password than the password itself. For example, some are claiming that MD5 hashes have become less secure (do to rainbow tables).Concerning "passphrases," i only use them when i am testing out my scripts, never for serious use. However, for those questionnaire systems that have you answer three or more questions of your choice, i may use a "passphrase" there (basically that is what they are asking from you anyway).
  24. I was going to suggest something along those lines. I know Windows 7 is known for its "instant wake-ups," so what might seem like it is merely a monitor, power-saving feature (or just a blank screensaver) may actually be the system entering hibernation. Now, what little time i've played around with Windows 7 i've never told it to hibernate (let alone know if it is even capable of entering hibernation after a short time of the system being idle), so i'm not really sure how it looks like when it wakes up, but this case is plausible.

    Why?

Actually, that may be a misconception on the Christian belief. While it is stated that we are made in God's image, Biblically there is no definite, physical description of God, and there are hints elsewhere in the text that suggests "in God's image" deals with other attributes or characteristics. And while it may mention being under His wing or the angels seeing His face while in Heaven, those aren't definite and are mostly metaphorical. However, Biblically there is a physical description of angels, though there is no mention of them having wings (as seen in paintings).
