Zacaroo another point to maybe calm your dad as i know the popups wether they are from your security programs or just virii can be annoying anyways, so if your mcafee has silent alert on it which many security programs do these days then you can activate that while your dad uses the pc and it logs all the attempts so u dont lose the info that you can pass on the the isp and at the same time cut down on the alerts that you computer receives, also note that this method when available does not restrict or hinder the security process in any way or by any means it is mainly used by administrators or on public computers where the admin either doesnt want the users to know a security systems is running or for the obvious benefits of having less pop ups and all it takes on your part is to read the logs at the end of the day,Good Luck.

I guess sig 3 was most interesting to you guys because it was the only smdge one out of the lot, but since reading ur tips ive cut back on the pxstreatching and mixing up the blending, wont go full out into smudge yet @True - i changed both 4 and the last one removing the green and adjusting the text accordingly, definitely gives it a good flow, as for the borders tho these sigs are made for a complete black bg forum so the borders are there and are prominent just not for a light bg like trap @SM - Thnx for the text tips the brushing is coming back slowly and i guess defaults(fonts) r best, noobie mistake, colouring is gona be more than ok soon once i get ps back in line. Heh did it all, added the light tints to the sig to cut back on the monoand bri/con layer to pick it up even more. complete revamp, reworked brushing for the chiseled look, new colouring technique and blending style to keep it light and antique,moved text for better flow. redid txt size and the curving of the txt brings in that little bit of pixelation :S removed mikes little face cut back on the render dupe, changed text font and colour, little spice to it. threw a new 1 in, diff colouring and blending, i like the text size colour and font so maybe im getting a feel for it again. As with all changes comes mistakes so tell me what you guys like and dont like

Hey Hey ppl been away on vacation and wat not for a few months so trying to get back into this at a crawl so i chose to help out a warcraft buddy of mine and came up with these, more of the old as u can see with only one sig with smudging and none of that splatter stuff i see around these days. Yes the only thing i did change was the colour the asta name and the logo changes it did take about 45 mins to an hour which i said in my original post, and again i didnt want to put too much work into it without getting a much clearer direction on what the board is looking for. And all i know now is to make sure that we can read the text, its not a green and do more than just change the logo and skin colours....still not a whole lot to work with.

Well szupie i did say "i think some direction on where this is going will be useful and maybe comments on what can be improved" so letting us know that the 2 submisions are not what you are looking for is a good step and im glad it has finally come about, so the next step after you get the opinions from the mods is to detail what you are looking for i suppose saves alot of time in the long run especially for final who went through with a colour board and a flow chart...so yea colour schemes and genres would be great for steering the skinner in the right direction.

Wow thats new to me and since the microsoft escapades and lawsuites since then things seem to be easing off in the way of what companies allow as "offers" i suppose, they could easily market it as a bonus feature just like those infomercials you get on television "buy this and this (skype) and this (intel) and get not one not two but five more friends added to your conference" On the point about the distance you can travel depending on race i know you think its kind of lame and may never happen but how about taking a sarcastic view on things such as why do the elderly pay less to ride a buss than i do, so i guess there are many ways to view this and in the end your title sums it up nicely with 1 word - competative - and companies are throwing all stops out the window today to market their product because in some cases e.g. microsoft the profit they make from the short period that they use the marketing strategy is enough to cover any or all of the lawsuits against them.

This isnt true in the least i feel both ventrilo and teamspeak have their good and bad points like ventrilo allows you to play recorded sound clippings easily with a few points to remember such as both you and everyone in the channel needs to have the sound on their computers whereas with teamspeak you would need to edit your internal sound optios to enable sound to be played from your computer first, so i guess its what you need the channels for in the end which will decide which is better as for running both of them i did for 2 years for a number of clans for various games and used the hosting here to display my server online status and even join the channel themselves with a quick read of the manuals any average user can operate either ventrilo or teamspeak.

Heh Daniel i think they are talking about "portable" mp3 players and last time i checked winamp doesnt make one not even for a PDA device. There are some real nifty gadgets out now especially from iRiver and Creative who i feel are leading the way, to me iPod feel they have broken into the market and have kicked back and relaxed. There is also out for a few months now the worlds smallest mp3 player which is 2.5 cm cubed if i am not mistaken and you can find out more about that at slashdot, as for me i chose to get a Sony Ericsson w900i - which is there walkman series mobile phoneand ive had it for a week now and its great, saves me carting around a phone and an mp3 player and with memory sticks now going up to 2 G i have plenty of space to store all the songs i need along with games as i listen to music, applications and all round goodness

Even though i voted Gmail (because im only allowed to vote for one) i use gmail hotmail yahoo and aim, i guess i just never migrated as a better one came along but kept them all, i dont really find it hard to manage either and do have different friends on each email so in a way its a good filing system

Guild Wars is a jip in my opinion ....one hot steaming bowl of ripp off. I can see why people would be taken in by the fact that you dont have to pay every month but the servers they do provide just dont cut it along witht he graphics that it boasted and what you end up with all in all is very dissapointing indeed. I then went on to warcraft where the gameplay graphics and server issues improved but not a great deal and the latency is still an issue for me, so i then settled with Final Fantasy 11 Online whihc meets all the criteria an MMORPG should.

Heh i agree that there is no way avg can match the standards of Nod32 especially with features such as IMON which stops virii before they even get onto your computer, and yes once optimised you never have to touch Nod32 again, i know this is slightly of topic heh but as u can tell by now im a Nod32 user and am glad to pay for the service because its good value for money *cough* nortons. So back on topic i used to use AVG free aswell before moving to Nod and my turning point was how could they boast an excellent free service when they had another package that you had to pay for, did that make that package more than excellent ..... so i decided to look around and thats how i found Nod.

Hmm so guys whats happening with this skin idea. i know i have been away on holiday and work and so on and have definitely been out of touch with graphics as a whole but to come back and still find this competition neither here nor here is disapointing but then again maybe everyone is as busy as me, Finals skins definitely looks cool especially for the time and effort he has put in and i think some direction on where this is going will be useful and maybe comments on what can be improved, because i would glady use this as an opportunity to get back into graphics again. Still waiting for that sample warbird. And for the test board, maybe this has been called off and no one has posted here to tell us so, can we please have an update.

Heh even though in your description it says the firefox based browser this is a bit far from the proverbial tree so too speak, even thought it boasts many of the enticing features and security, unfortunately i also had trouble with the making them work, the interface was just horrible and even though i know firefox takes longer to start than internet explorer netscape is certainly pushing it at the moment.

Very true pomjim, i guess its all about the "bad" corporation that comes to peoples minds first, for example IE is the reason microsoft was taken to court for trying to monopolize the internet and i guess that it will always pop up in times like these so when other freeware products pop up and open source that look and feel close to a microsoft product people tend to have what i like to call the "robin - hood" syndrome and it puts the conscience at ease just because the product is free its ok. Now in the case of firefox they have created an extraordinary product that exceeded all expectations and i think we have all had the pleasure of using the great features for a few moths even a few years so its probably tim IE caught up because competition is always good and im sure that when IE 7 is released as version one firefox woould have moved on again to bigger and better things. Unfortunately i will be using both firefox and IE for testing webpages so if IE starts to feel like firefox it might not be such a bad thing.

Im not sure if many of you know this but none of your emails on Gmail is deleted even if you hit delete it is still stored on their servers just like the searches you make using google, it has been said before on here in the google area but i cant find where at the moment.

Hey thanks fro the update, i never really liked cms's myself because of wanting total control of wat i did on the site but many of the skins for e107 did catch my eye especially compared to mambo and teh rest , who knows i may give it another go in the near future.

Microsoft had a press release a few months back, and due to a coding error in the shell or one of the major components they had to scrap the entire line of coding because of "coding themselves into a corner". So there release date was taken down and the best thing to do would be to follow the microsoft vista site or a software and hardware news site such as slashdot.

Even though google may seem the best at the moment alot of the other parties Sarah mentioned are getting better aswell, too many it may also seem that google is the best maybe because they have been using something else till recently..lets say hotbot for instance but in my opinion google has degraded slightly aswell. When i first started using google i just needed to type a word or two relating to the site i needed and usually found it in the top five hits, Now i have to sift through the paid adds at the top the google ad sense the cracker sites fooling googlebot and getting into the list and finally on page 3 i get what i am after. So then i took time out to read all the google tips tricks and commands that can be used which got my wanted result back into the top ten. So to me google being the best comes at a price and a large community are not willing to pay that price saying that google is an invasion of privacy and the like. Maybe google should stop focusing on the other parties and try to get back to where it once was.
