  1. I would, but I'm gone for the majority of this weekend, including today and monday [4th of july]....Anime Expo 2005...

Err...for the pop up ones, make it a .png file on a transparent background...its showing up as white...Whoops, hit wrong button..anyways...You sigs need...1) Hard to read text, Needs a border2) Border on bottom part, and save it as a png on a transparent background3) Same as no.24) Blend in renders and text a bit 5) Looks good/complete to me6) Can't read white text next to render7) Monotone, no real style of brushing so it makes it look kind of odd8) Border9) A bit big dont you think? o_o Also lower opacity for the black lightning things10) Work on text...it doesn't match
  3. Here's a good example of displacement that I whipped up: See how the displaced text follows the creases and such of the cloth? Thats because I applied a displacement map to it.
  4. One of your best? I'd say so. I think the blue should be a bit darker though...but it's probably just me again...I like the darker colors of the spectrum..bright colors gimme headaches >.<
  5. A very big improvement. Fix the white in Ryu's bandana, add a border, and try to blend the font in a little bit and I'd say it's done.
  6. As they said, it's much improved. I still see a lot of cut-off and abruptly ending brushes though. The text needs to be worked on still, and the border could be improved. Try playing around with the blending options and such for both the border and the text.

Err.....displacement maps are kind of hard to explain...but don't worry about it, I've already figured it out Example: You can make a wavy picture, or a picture of a flag waving and fluttering in the air, and you want to put some text on it and have the text look like it is part of the flag. By using a displacement map, you basically [i guess] 'map' the text onto an uneven surface.

  9. Ralphie's right, the colors of the background and the colors of the render don't match. Maybe try a purplish-blue to green gradient on the render, from top to bottom
  10. As michael said, Slicing is the first step. For text, there's multiple ways. You can make an IFrame, make the table the image is in have the image as a background, and I guess the <div> tag works too.

Eh, dont worry about the blurry text..it's supposed to be blurry...I'm having putting a smaller black layer on top of it in flash...and if you don't understand what I'm talking about, then nevermind -.- Any suggestions for a better font?Lines...yeah I know theyre a little out of place..I'll end up doing something else.Yeah, there's lots of empty space....what can I fill it up with?! I can't think of anything.

Here's a Work In Progress splash page for my site....It will be flash animated later on...When the mouse hovers over the words chaos/confusion [links], they wil pulse, jitter around, etc. Information about the links will also pop up in the black box, just in case your wondering...anyways here it is, with 31 layers of brushing: -Click the Thumbnail- ^ Clickity Click ^ Any comments or suggestions?

  15. And both of you will soon be good as me! lol I'm joking of course...i'm not that great either. Anyways, this is a big improvement. Brushing's decent, and you have a border [yay!]. The second one is much, much, much better then the first one. All that needs to be worked on is the font and blending the render into the background
  16. Gah, I wish there was an edit button....Any clue on how to use displacement maps? I'm confuzzled about that too -.-....read quite a few tutorials but still don't get it.
  17. This tutorial will cover three techniques on how to extract pictures that are not on a single solid color. First of all, you need to find yourself a nice picture. I shall be using this one, which came with the Appleseed Fan Site Kit: There are several ways we can cut the render of Deunan Knute out of the picture. Technique 1 This technique is the easiest, but also the most time wasting. All you need to do is grab the Polygonal Lasso tool, And go around the edges like so: Tips: When lasso-ing [is that even a word?] rounded corners or edges, keep your selections small, short, and numerous. It gives the final product a much smoother edge. Also keystrokes to zoom in [hold down Cntrl + Space and click], zoom out [hold down Cntrl + Alt + Space and click], and to move around the screen [hold down space and drag] instead of using the Magnifying glass tool or the scroll bars. Using the other tools will disrupt the Polygonal Lasso selection. Continue going around the edges with the lasso. Soon, you should have a marquee selection around the character or object you want to extract: Just copy and paste it onto a new file and you're done Technique 2 This technique shows you how to use the 'Quick Mask' tool in Photoshop. This technique is rather easy, and a whole lot less time consuming then the Polygonal Lasso tool, though it is a bit harder to get a perfect result. The first staggering, headache-inducing step that may haunt you in your nightmares forever is to hit 'Q' on your keyboard. And if you managed to do that without throwing youself off of a very tall building into a suicidal plunge onto the sidewalk, then hit 'D' on your keyboard to reset your foreground and background colors to their default colors. Next, grab your brush tool [make sure the foreground is set to black!] and paint on the area that you want to keep. It should appear red. I reccomend using a large soft brush for the majority of the render, and a small hard brush for details and sharp edges. Be sure to use a soft eraser to erase mistakes. You should have a result such as this: Next, hit the 'Q' key again, and you should get a marquee around everything. Just hit Delete, and you've got your render! Technique 3 This is the third technique that I know of. This technique can be VERY challenging and VERY frustrating, but you will be rewarded with a clean and nearly flawless extraction. We want to whip out the 'Extract...' tool, which should be there somewhere under 'Filter' [Filter > Extract...]. You could also hit [Cntrl + Alt + X]. A window should pop up that looks like this: You should now proceed to go around the edges of the object or character you would like to keep. Be patient. This is the hardest part, and I can guarantee you that it is a pain and that you will screw up more than once. Tips: The right way to use the extract tool is to go along the edges OUTSIDE of the targeted object or character. Be sure to use the keystrokes I told you about earlier to move the image and to zoom in and out. Don't worry if you accidently stray a bit away from the edges. You can always fix it up later. Try to use a small brush, I use 10, and be sure to have Smart Highlighting turned OFF. Once you have highlighted the edges of the object or character you want to keep, press 'G' to pull up your trusty ol' paint bucket and fill in the highlights. Next, press 'Preview' and see if it looks good. If not, hit [Cntrl + Z] to fix it up, if it does, then hit okay. You should now have the character or object cut out on the canvas, with some loose pixels here and there. No problem. Either go over it with a soft eraser, or just Polygonal Lasso it away. If you're reading this, congrats. This tutorial hasn't bored you to death, and you now know three different techniques to cut out renders and such out of images. Here's a quick tip: If you have some scunge [left over pixels from the image that you dont want] just select the whole cut-out, and go [select > Modify > Contract...] and type in 1 pixel. Then, right-click on the marquee and select "Select Inverse" and hit delete. Let's take a look at my result: Written by Phyre
  18. I think those little scanlines on the side are a bit out of place...and the text with 'Devil May Cry' in the middle of it looks great. I see you also went for a cartoony/vector-ish look for the render. I say 9.5/10 because there's just something about the brushing that's nagging at me.
  19. I would like a tutorial based on the pen tool. That's the one thing that I constantly experiment with, but end up failing badly. All the tutorials I've read about it are crappy...
  20. I have to agree to a rather large amount of what they said. As Johnny said, you need to spend more time on these sigs. I see lots of cut off brushes and dragged brushes. -The main thing I want to point out is that the majority of those renders are horrible and choppy. Be sure to hold down shift if you are rescaling them using the Free transform tool. And with that sig with Conker in it, you need to get rid of the background around Conker. They are not very well blended either.-The text are boring. You should try to blend them in and play around with different effects. Be sure to experiment with new fonts and styles.-Four words: Borders Are Your Friends.
  21. Flaws? What flaws?! I don't see any o.o That drawings awesome.I've been saving up for a wacom for a while now...I'm flat broke too =P
  22. I, two am confused about the 'Dentist' thing...other then that, it looks good. I have to agree with the others that say that this is your best yet. The only thing it's missing is a border around the bottom/main part of the sig.
  23. The renders could use some cleaning up and the words "Saiyan-Unity" is indeed fugly and hard to read.
  24. A 2px white border? o_O You may want to try the pixel borders HmmZ, Johnny, and I are using.
